Ok, from the outside this place looks like a dump. But the food is AMAZING. It's burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, etc. The Nashvile HOT Chicken is so good, and if you like heat, you have to try the Hot-zarella sticks! The inside is small, not much seating for larger parties, but they do take out, we saw a lot of college kids picking up orders. You won't regret trying this place!

Where to start. We have probably driven by this place dozens of times as we pass through Lancaster back to home in Maryland. We were looking for a place to grab dinner and saw this on Yelp (sorry Tripadvisor). Wow! There is a fairly limited menu of either burgers, cheesesteaks or chicken dishes. But who needs a million choices when what they do, they do amazingly. We got the single patty burgers. You can go up to four, yes, four. We also ordered them with the fried cheese curd, which is a patty of mozzarella cheese that's deep fried and put on the burger. Did I say "yummy!" yet? Made with a fresh beef patty and put on a buttered bun, it was soooo good! The burger was just absolutely delicious. Best burger I've had in ages, hands down. And where can you get a fresh made burger for $5.99? I mean really, $5.99. The fried cheese curd added $2.25 but well worth it for still less than $8.50. We also ordered a side of fries and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were just how I like them with a crispy panko style coating. They were great! Again, best onion rings I've had in a long time, if not forever. We barely touched the hand cut fries due to filling up on the burger and onion rings, but they were also good. We got the Route 66 sauce on the burgers and a cup to dip the onion rings in. Again, delicious. Note that if you are looking for bacon on your burger, this is a Halal restaurant and there is none. I'm a big fan of bacon on my burger, but you won't need it, trust me. This is definitely a place we will be coming back to. A bit of warning that parking may be a little challenging for folks not used to driving in a city and inside the place is pretty tight. We did not have to wait for a table, but I imagine there could be a wait at times. But it would be well worth any wait!!

Burgers and fries meal were delicious. I would give a 10/5 if I could.

If God were to serve fast food in the Heaven, He would order catering from here! True hidden gem where you don’t expect it! Some of the best fast food items in the state. We were blown by not only delicious food, but also excellent service and fair prices. Nashville chicken is really hot! Smash burgers seasoned and cooked to perfection. Subs better than famous cheese steak subs in Philly. Tandoori chicken sub was unique and incredibly delicious. Route 66 sauce is also a must regardless of what you’re ordering. Thank you! My wife and I drove up from baltimore just from looking at the menu. We got the Tandoori Cheese steak and the Nashville hot chicken with onion rings and split it. Portions were great, and it was unbelievably affordable. The staff was very nice and personable. Both the bathroom and dining room area were clean. The food was amazing, and I can't wait to get back to try different things on the menu.

I feel bad that you have to respond to every single review, bad or good. I used to be a restauranteur, so I understand. Some of your complaints are so bad, it's like all the people that leave 1 star reviews on Amazon b/c the jar broke during shipping. That is not the sellers fault, so dont 1 star them for that. Same as people that complain something is too spicy at your restaurant. That's why it's called spicy. Loved everything I've ever gotten here. Keep doing all that you do. This place is fantastic. Everything was good but I had ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken wasn't cooked. It was slight pink and couldn't eat it. Disappointed was looking forward to it. A coworkers fried chicken sandwich was good but she said it was salty. The chicken Tikka was good but she said it tasted more like ranch then a Indian Tikka sauce.

We ordered the cheese burger and a cheese burger sub 🍔! They were great! Highly recommended!

I recently visited Route 66 and had a mixed experience. The burger I ordered was decent—nothing special, but it was okay. However, the fries were a major disappointment. They arrived soggy and cold, which really brought down the overall meal. To make matters worse, the owner was not welcoming at all. Their attitude was unprofessional, bordering on rude, and they certainly didn’t seem like a people person. It’s unfortunate because a better attitude and fresher fries could have made for a much better dining experience.

I got 1 burger and the Nashville, hot chicken sandwich. The burger was good but definitely not the best in Lancaster. The Chicken Sandwich was phenomenal.

First time trying out this spot I seen the review on Google an I was craving for a fresh juicy Burger so I gave it a try and when I tell you the Burger&Fries where to die for. First bite to the last bite was just delicious. I would definitely be coming back so my wife and kids can try you guys out as well thank you.

This place is a hidden gem! The food is amazing. I had the chicken tikka cheese steak which was one of the best cheese steaks I've had (and I lived in Philly for a long time). My wife had the falafel burger which was also delicious. We will surely be back on our next visit to Lancaster!

Nestled in the NW corner of Lancaster City, PA is a little gem known as the Route 66 Restaurant. If you're looking for some kind of fancy food or atmosphere, this is not the place. However, if you're looking for some good, quick food that is still reasonably priced, you are right on target. I just got a regular cheeseburger for my first visit and had them put their "Route 66 Sauce" on the side. I also ordered a small fry and, since it seemed appropriate, a chocolate shake. The shake was finished first and it was absolutely fantastic! The food came up shortly and was just as good as the shake. The fries were hot and salty, and the burger was fresh off the grill and very tasty. Now, I'm not the biggest condiment / sauce guy as I feel most things hide the taste of the food. However, I will admit, I did like their sauce. I believe it was Thousand Island dressing based with some mayo and various spices mixed in. A little sweet at the start and then follows with a little kick of tartness at the back end. Even dipped a few fries in there as well. Whether you're into sauces or not, I think most people would enjoy theirs. I ordered straight from the counter, so there were no servers. A few tables needed to be wiped up but overall a splendid experience.

Went there bc of the reviews…but the Impossible salad=a very thin burger on top of mixed greens, the spicy chicken sandwich was way too spicy, hot and very difficult to eat. Atmosphere, very cramped, loud, not enjoyable. Needs a better ambiance and and warning for how spicy and hot off the grill the chicken is, impossible salad needs different name than impossible bc that made it sound spectacular.

Incredible! My boyfriend and I fill a table with food on our quest to try everything on the menu. We order HEAVY and still haven’t broken a $40 tab. The hardest part of the night is trying to rank the items we tried. Best Nashville chicken sando I’ve ever had period anywhere. Including Nashville. Not dripping in oil, exceptionally crispy, the coating doesn’t fall off. It’s not too thick of a patty. The Cole slaw. The burger! THE TIKKA CHEESESTEAK. I’m a cheesesteak purist. Wiz wit, baby. All day. But the chicken tikka cheesesteak took me on a journey that I don’t want to come back from. If I had to change ANYTHING it would be the hours. I generally operate on a later schedule. It’s all consistent. It’s all inexpensive and the crew there are everything I want in a corner burger spot. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to, boys.

Route 66 was a short walk from my Airbnb. While walking around the neighborhood, I saw this place and decided to check it out, and ordered a double cheeseburger. I'm the type to seek out the best smashburger in a city I'm visiting. This one I completely stumbled upon, and it is among the best of the best.

I recently visited Route 66, and while the place might seem a bit outdated, don't let that fool you. The service here is absolutely amazing. The staff is attentive, friendly, and really goes the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. But let's talk about the food—it's the cream of the crop. The burgers are delicious, but the standout is definitely the Nashville chicken. It's a must-try. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it left me craving more. If you're looking for fantastic food and top-notch service, Route 66 is the place to go. Highly recommended!

First time at Route 66 Restaurant, was there with a friend and we both got the double cheeseburger and fries 🍟. Everything was very good, and people working there were very friendly.

Best friend chicken sandwich in town

Easily the best burgers in the area so far that we've had, as well as the best cheesesteaks so far. Moved out this way from Philly a year and a half ago. Hard to find decent pizza, but we've found plenty of excellent burger spots, this being the best. Excellent fried chicken, cheese curds, mozzarella sticks, and the Chopped Cheese is ridiculous. Shakes ain't no joke either! Definitely recommend this spot to anyone.

Amazing halal restaurant with a great vibe! Gives a full diner feel and staff is super courteous and friendly. We got there a little late and ended still eating after they closed, owners were really nice and told us to take our time. Definitely tried the fried cheese on your burger. The wife had the chicken tikkah masala Philly and it was beyond amazing.

My father and I searched all over Lancaster and surrounding areas for a GOOD cheesesteak for awhile now, as our trips to Philly become less and less. We have tried countless places, and Route 66 has the highest quality, best tasting cheesesteaks we have found in the county! Unfortunately, they don't offer traditional cheese whiz as a cheese option, but their quality makes up for it, and the cheddar cheese is terrific. Excellent steak, delicious roll, and portions are great. The atmosphere is fun and the staff is always friendly. Also, don't miss out on their fresh cut french fries, which are truly the best!! I have heard from multiple people that their burgers are top-notch, but we can't stop eating their cheesesteaks long enough to try a burger. Our search for the best has ended with this great little establishment and we keep coming back for more. We HIGHLY recommend Route 66 for their cheesesteaks and fresh cut fries that are out-of-this-world delicious!! Edit to add: Their burgers (both regular and impossible) are phenomenal too!! This place is the BEST!

Everything I have ever eaten here is absolutely delicious. All the food is made to order so it's always fresh and hot. They have the best smash style burgers in town and the onion rings are to die for. My picky kids (4 yrs and 14 yrs) also love the food. Every time I have been in, the place is clean and the workers are very pleasant despite always being busy. My only 2 complaints are that they are not on doordash and they close really early if your looking to get dinner. I wish they were open until at least 8 through the week :(

We had a chicken and steak cheesesteak which were amazing! It was flavorful and juicy and the bread was nice and soft. The service great and we got our food quick! It is definitely a good option for a nice casual spot for lunch!

This is a small spot on the intersection of Prince Street and West Liberty. I love how they keep their menu simple with your burgers, chicken, cheesesteaks and shakes. It may be simple but they do a fantastic job with their product. Their cheeseburgers are a must grab. You know it’s a good burger when the outer edges have that slight crispiness. Honestly, one of the better burgers in the entire area. I also really enjoyed the onion rings. Nice and crispy, and the onion doesn’t all come out with a single bite. It was also packed, so you know it’s a good spot for some easy grub.

My bf and I stopped here for lunch before a wedding. We are not from the area. It's a nice little hole in the wall. Parking isn't great and it had limited seating but the Chicken BBQ Cheesesteak was amazing and huge. You have to pay extra for sides like fries and coleslaw though but that's to be expected these days. Definitely a good place to stop for a quick lunch that beats fast food. Seems like they do alot of to-go business.

Route 66 has a great rep for its burgers, which is well deserved. But I highly recommend folks take a look at their larger menu. Their tandoori chicken cheesesteak is NOT to be missed, ditto the tikka masala cheesesteak. These are unique menu items you're unlikely to find anywhere else on Lancaster. Don't sleep in them.

A friend recommended Rt 66 and it has been an excellent find. Service is fast, friendly and accurate. Food is great, chicken and steak sandwiches are our go to, fries are fabulous. We've seen the hand made milkshakes but have yet to try. Small dining area and they do get busy, parking can also be tricky but Liberty is two ways which helps. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Best burger in Lancaster! This, from a burger officiando and grill master... I ignored this place for years (because of the name - I don't like diners), and heard from a fellow foodie to give them a try. I'm hooked and go there weekly. Think of 5 Guys but better, and on top you support a local business. Even better, is the rest of the menu - a large array of items with halal food - tikka, tandoori, etc. The chicken sandwiches and subs, with any seasoning, are to die for - maybe best is their Nashville chicken sandwich. Not a single item is plain nor bland - everything, even as simple as the fries, is so delicious. If you're going for a burger, it must be the cheeseburger with everything on it - I believe they were voted best burger in PA at one point.

This place is great! My husband heard about it through a friend and we all live about 45 minutes away. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is what he was recommended and ordered. It was SPICY. He typically enjoys things like spicy chic fila sandwiches and Buffalo chicken dip. He did think it was delicious, just a little hot for his tolerance. I got the double cheeseburger and it was amazing! I added the fried egg and fried cheese. The fat fries were delicious!!!! Curly fries were also good, but would recommend the fries way more. We ordered takeout on their website. The text I got saying the order was ready was about 20 minutes before the estimated time of the order being ready was with the confirmation. Very limited seating inside. Street parking. Staff was friendly. The restaurant and employees appeared clean. Prices weren’t bad. Gives mom&pop vibes but you could tell they’re used to staying busy. The online order alert went off multiple times with new orders as I waiting for mines to be handed over. Eat here! Look at the pictures. It’s delicious! Can’t wait to come back and will recommend!!!

This small spot packs a punch. The mozzarella sticks are outrageously good. Think of the best mozzarella stick you've ever had but better. I got like 2 feet of cheese pull!! We devoured the BBQ chicken cheesesteak and the chicken masala cheesesteak. Both perfect. Staff was friendly and the food came out fast and hot. So so worth it.

I ordered 3 cheesesteaks 1 french fries 1 onion ring I only had $50 on me and the amount I had to pay was $50.83 0.83 cents was missing so the food was ice cold until I went back to the car and got my wallet it was actually embarrassing only 0.83 cents THIS IS MY LAST ORDER AT THIS RESTAURANT NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS The problem is not money, my friend

Best spicy chicken sandwich in PA

First time this afternoon and we were impressed with the burgers and reasonable prices.

Can't believe I'm so late to find this place. Great food, awesome service. I've seen numerous people posting about visiting, so I finally went with my family. My wife and kids all are GREAT food at a very price. The nashville chicken sandwich and cheesesteak are too die for. Absolutely delicious. Not a large place, so if you have more than 4 in your party, I recommend getting it to go.

Best burgers in Lancaster, PA hands down. Owner always says hello when you walk in and the place is clean and vintage inside. Food has never been anything short of delicious. I come here anytime I am in the area near this place! Better than Shake Shack, Five Guys or any other burger joint in Lancaster. Support small businesses!

My husband has eaten 200 cheeseburgers at least in his lifetime. As I sit here typing this, he's making sure I state him verbatim "the foods off the chain and this is the best cheeseburger I've ever consumed." I also would vote the best cheese steak I've ever had. Come here for the food. Right now.

Everythings a la carte & too much $$ for what we got. Food was good, kind of dirty & nont stocked well. They need a counter girl to help keep the place clean, stocked & quick to help with ordering.

Spot is a little difficult to park. They don't have a huge menu, but it's quite good. Nuggets for the kids were tasty and meaty. Burgers were good!

This place was fantastic! Worth the wait getting your food just be patient. Staff was friendly too. It’s small inside so just something to consider if you’re planning on coming in with a large group. Definitely will be coming back and trying more on the menu. I had the chopped cheese and it was excellent. Fresh cut fries too!

I & a Disabled friend went there due to reviews seen on here. Well, there were several cement steps, 1 of the guys had to help her up as she had a walker. Once in got table and ordered their 🍔 and 🍟 an 2 🥛 an 1 order made wrong. They fixed it. Service was slow, 🍔Luke warm. We will not be returning. I'm fair with every place I go. NEED TO PUT HANDY CAP SENIORS CAN'T GET IN.

I finished the burger before remembering to click a photo - it was that good! Must visit Halal restaurant if you are in the vicinity. We tried Tandoori Chicken tacos, Fried Chicken Masala sub and Double hamburger. The chocolate shake is absolute yummmm!

I read an article claiming this place had the best burgers in PA so I had to try it. Drove 90 minutes to get there. It was fine but nothing special. It's a neighborhood place with limited seating and ordering at the counter.

I've gone to this place multiple times throughout the years and one thing I love most is the flavor and spice hasn't changed. Unlike Popeyes or kfc spicy chicken sandwich Route 66 Nashville hot ACTUALLY has a kick and heat. Plus your supporting a family owned small business I will always recommend this place!
