Carne asada is fantastic. Live music. Great atmosphere.

Top notch, big special item on the menu- hot tamale with a fabulous pablano, roasted. The flavor is amazing. Going to go out and give my first ever “best Ive ever had” rating on this Tamale. Topped with perfectly seasoned authentic cojita cheese (spelling) and always a filling bowl! Great deal for the pound plus at 9 and change. Get it here this week before its gone!!!!

Food here is always good and fresh. My favorite is the seared tuna bowl. Tonight they had a swordfish special that was amazing! Wish it was part of there normal menu. The atmosphere is fun! Live music, place for kids to play! Just a fun place to hang out at!

After a day on the beach with friends, we fell upon the Hampstead location and loved it! We loved sitting outside listening to the live music! It's a great place for families to relax while they eat. We are used to west coast fish tocos, so we didn't love them, but the atmosphere made up for it.

My wife love Shaka Tacos 🌮 They are made fresh and taste great. We love this location too.

Came to town visiting with some friends and they took us here. The food was really delicious! The beer selection was nothing crazy but still decent enough. The kids Loved the kids area also. It was nice to have a spot to keep those monster contained 😂.

Worst service. Food tales more than thirty minutes to get. Not worth the wait. Rude and people walk past and don't talk to you.

We love Shaka, both locations. This location would benefit from a separate to go area like the Surf City location. At least twice now we’ve had to wait in a long line for over 10-15 minutes to get our to go order resulting in the food being cold. This location is so popular and this is really needed.

Incredibly slow to get food out. Be prepared to wait 40 mins for a few tacos between 5 and 7

Only reason I don’t give it a lower rating, is because food is usually really good! The problem is the service. We usually come on Thursday, and there’s always a line, but only 1 cashier. So frustrating!

Great food, environment and staff

The atmosphere is amazing. This place is very clean and big. Live music. Great staff. My friend and I got the chicken taco bowls. Not a fan. It was very very dry and didn't have a lot of taste.

Not a big fan of the chicken or the steak, both are too dry for me. The ground beef, pork and shrimp are great. Sunday brunch burritos are also great. Outside eating area is fantastic. Downsides are that it always takes a long time for the food to be delivered and it’s relatively expensive for what it is. I will keep going back, but if I don’t have 45 mins to spare, it’s not an option.

Great addition to the area, and a good way to get tacos from our favorite taco place when the beach crowds make it impossible to get to their Surf City location. This location also has a large beer garden with frequent live music.

This is the best Mexican food I've had to date. I was visiting the area on vacation and happened by this place. I'd recommend this spot to anyone, great food, friendly and accommodating staff, fun atmosphere. Try it and you'll be pleased.

Great food with live entertainment 3 days a week. The only thing missing is a good after meal churro! Great family atmosphere, with large kids play area. Large patio with open air seating as well as indoor seating. Give it a try. I’m sure you and the family will have a good time!

This is a complicated review. Bear with me! A gourmet taco shop, in a local setting. sit out side have a drink, and let your kids play in eye shot. I spent 12 years in taco heaven (orange county CA) and completely appreciate the taco Menu. You will not be disappointed. Everything has attention to detail, unusual combinations that makes my taste buds happy. But don’t forget the live music and cornhole tournaments, and farmers market. My only criticism is that it hard to keep track of what is going on and when. If your in the Hampstead area and you miss this… you missed out.

Shaka is awesome in every aspect. Great food.....check. Super friendly staff.....check. Awesome community spaces and live music......check. Plenty of parking space as well, although I am blessed to live within walking distance of this wonderful establishment. Top three Hampstead restaurant for this guy. Keep it up Shaka, and I promise that you will never be short on customers/friends!

it doesn’t get any better… Great food, great energy …the staff is amazing… and if James is working that night, it’s as good as it gets! Highly recommend!!

This place is huge, has live music, the fall flavored mixed drink was superb (I need to get the recipe), and the tuna nachos are always on point. You can order food from your table via qr code, and get items for the nachos on the side so everyone can enjoy their own toppings. I wish there were a few more shady spots, but love that dogs and kids are welcome. There were football games on tvs in one section, a birthday party in another, people out playing corn hole, and everyone still had their own space.

Ordered a pickup order today for our company, and we (won’t be named!) ordered to the wrong location. Their team got the order from the other location and prep’d 5 bowls+ immediately. Everything was correct, and the food was delicious. Really appreciated it.

Great recommendation for food (shrimp bowl, El Chavo cider). Convenient location. Lunch special is nice, area for kids to run around, live music and the market are fun.

I’ve watched this location grow over the last year. The owners have masterfully built a venue with space to sprawl out, space for children to romp, and an excellent beer garden and live music area, and then managed to keep up their food production to meet the ensuing demand.

Food was fresh tasting and delivered quickly. The outdoor seating was very child friendly.

The atmosphere is great. Definitely a good choice partnering up with Ironclad. Ease of ordering is awesome. I would like to say that we ordered chips and salsa and it never came until we asked a server to check on it after 30 mins. The portion size of the salsa should be the same size as the queso for the price. We got 1 big thing of quest and 2 tiny containers of salsa. My husband got a taco which he said was delicious and the bar tender was nice and his service was fast considering he was the only one there at the time and it was a Friday evening. Will go again!

Love it, love it, love it!!! Their tuna bowl and Carne asada bowls are out of this world. Their nachos are amazing!! We live just a couple miles from there. We eat there a couple times a week.

Excellent tacos and options! I had 0 complaints about the food or service, it is an outdoor seating only but many places around the area are the same. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area!

So good, steak tacos are delicious. Tuna nachos were good but I definitely prefer steak for added flavor.

Updated review from 5 stars after last 2 visits. I took my family here 2 adults and 2 kids on this occasion. After ordering, I was blown away by the price, which was $65. We ordered 2 kids' tacos meals and 2 shrimp tacos as well as nachos. Also 4 cans of water which came to this amount. After looking at the receipt, I noticed they charged extra for beans on the tacos and charged incorrectly for the kids' tacos. They did correct the kids' meals, but price was still $45 for basically 4 tacos and some nachos. Other issues include whrn you order blackened shrimp. They almost never get it right. I brought it up to them, and they said it's just a seasoning they put on shrimp. Blackened shrimp is not just sprinkling seasoning on steamed shrimp. Last reason for the lower rating is the restrooms were filthy the last time we were there. Best restaurant in Hampstead hands down. This is a hidden gem that really shines. The blackened shrimp tacos are awesome. I do recommend adding some black beans. The nachos are off the charts too. Also, I love their canned water, it tastes great and one less plastic bottle to go into a landfill.

Cool vibe, yummy food 10/10 there. Managers are present and friendly- running a well oiled machine. Staff appear happy and are FAST. Customers always enjoying the outdoor space, music scene, and play area for kids.. which is fenced in and SAFE. Shaka's a win for me.

I really like what they've done here. Food is great, atmosphere great.. enjoyable, live music, etc Only reason for less then 5 stars is it is a little pricey.... chicken quesadilla & a drink in a basket will run you close to $18???

I visited the ironclad location for the first time yesterday. To me for the price the quality is low and it doesn't come with any chips and no salsa bar for the price. The taco was very bland, the chicken tasted boiled or steamed. No flavor. The salsa was sweet tasting almost. Not for me, there is a way better taco place in the Hampstead area for the price. Location was great though with the outdoor area for kids.

They have great live music which is a major plus 4 me!

Went to their Top Sail location a few years ago and happy to see one in Hampstead. Everything was clean, and the person at the front was very friendly. All the food tasted fresh and delicious. The wings, soooo good and cooked just right. They were saucy and finger licking good. The tacos a good size and the nachos are so much food. I actually was thinking how much I wanted to get the nachos the night before. When visiting family in the area, this is the place I look forward to eating at. This location was very nice with the outdoor eating area and turf. We didn’t have a dog with us, but another party did, so dog friendly too!!!
