Shorty's Mexican Roadhouse in Manchester - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

The bad news: the restaurant has drain flies. ( tiny little flies- they are not fruit flies. ) They are in the bathroom and the dining area, and I’m sure they are in the kitchen. Please management have a worker treat -every- drain in the place, sinks, floor drain, drain pans…. It’s a SIMPLE CHEAP FIX of baking soda and vinegar and then very hot water. Google it and clean up your establishment, it’s lazy and gross to ignore them. The good news. The food was ok. Everything could have been better. The chips were overcooked & The food wasn't hot. The service was ok, the waitresses did ALOT of conversation at their “prep area” way too long before taking our order, drinks remained unfilled, waiting for bill, waiting for boxes. We haven’t been in years and won’t hurry back again.

Update: crummy service last time. Short rib Crunchwrap was very sweet, not as good as usual. Not in a rush to go back overall. Update: 9 times out of 10 it is good here. Good tacos, etc. I think the time before was a fluke. Got the new CBR taco, it was just okay. Also tried the pepper jack sticks for an app—very greasy and barely warm. Drinks and everything else were okay.

How was Shorty's? Couldn't tell you. We were shown a booth that a child couldn't fit in at first. When we asked for another table, a very nice waitress that was up front showed us to a half booth near the back of the restaurant and given menus. That's it. My husband and I waited 25 minutes. We were never greeted. No one came over at all. We decided to leave. Told the same waitress who found us a table what happened. She was very apologetic. Unsure if we will go back and try it again.

Shorty's is a unique experience. It's nothing like authentic, and the menu hasn't really changed in decades so we can't call it "creative", but it certainly is yummy!

My coworkers and family love shortys and their food is so consistent and delicious. Their fish tacos are to die for. The service could definitely use work. Multiple times I have been dining in my waiter got my order wrong. Takeout is always a struggle. I have had to wait for someone to acknowledge me multiple times and the wait time quoted for your food is always wrong. I have always had to wait for my food even if I am there past the quoted time and more than 50% of the time I have to wait an extra 10-15 minutes. So overall, amazing food but service is lacking.

Carol ruined my daughter's birthday dinner. We waited an hour and a half for food. Carol left us sitting there long after we finished eating. We asked another server for boxes to go. We watched Carol doing her side work and talking to her coworkers. She saw us sitting there and came over. We asked for the check. Carol realizing she never brought the birthday ice cream, packed it to go and charged us for it! Wow!! Really Carol!! My daughter asking what's in the box, as we are leaving for our hour ride home. We won't be coming back again!

Visited for lunch, Tuesday 7/2. Had to wait 10-15+ minutes just to be greeted/seated. Once seated our fairly new server showed up quickly, took our drink order and delivered their delicious salsa and chips. Once we received our drinks, and ordered our lunch it went downhill quickly, our wait for our lunch was a solid hour+. The quality of my steak fajitas was well below the norm, no sizzle to the platter, overcooked meat, dry, overcooked onions, and hard to find overcooked pieces of pepper. The rice. and refried beans were a bit crusty, a sign of sitting under a hear lamp for loner than required. It was a real disappointment, not the usual crisp onions and peppers, and juicy meat. Something was obviously wrong in the kitchen, but in spite of waiting over an hour for our food, no explanation or reason was given. Restaurant was not overly busy, but I was sitting with a close view of the kitchen door, and based upon the traffic coming in and out of the kitchen, I could summarize something was wrong. We usually visit Shorty's 6-8 times a year, but based upon this latest experience. it will most likely be a while before we return.

One of my favorite restaurants. It has a unique atmosphere of classic 60's with mexican influences. Has super good food and drinks, staff is also friendly! I've always had a pleasant time at this establishment and will continue my business here.

Love, love this place, they remember your name, they are friendly, the margaritas are banging! The salads are delish, Food is perfect. Prices are fair. Best part it isn't to loud and it isn't to quiet...so if you are out with your girlfriends you don't have to worry about being the loudest ones there 🤣.

Shortys big boy steak burrito but I get it in a bowl and it's a staple order every time I go. Delicious espinaca cheese as well. I wish theyd bring back the mozzarella sticks because they were so good. Love stopping in here from time to time.

8 hostesses out front took 15 mins to seat us with no one in the restaurant. The waitress did fine but everything took forever. Food was great but we were just ready to leave when it finally got there.

Was very surprised, appetizers, and main meals came out warm not hot,which is very unusual. This is one of our favorite places, alway great food and drinks. Wait staff and bartenders friendly and attentive. Maybe a bad hair day will not hold against them.

I would be okay with not going back. The servers were nice. Beer was warm, glass was dirty. Food was edible.

Stopped for lunch. The complimentary chips/salsa came out right away and the chips were warm. I got a raspberry margarita and the pollo fundido with extra rice, no beans. Everything tasted great. My server was nice and attentive as well. Highly recommend for a meal.

We ordered shorty's Togo the other day and it was absolutely delicious . The nachos appetizer they send over in a huge like pizza box, they keep the cold topping on the side in seperate container to keep the nachos from getting soggy. These nachos are easily enough for a couple to split as a main meal! or serve as an appetizer for a crowd! There's is SO much included. And they send extra chips on the side, so that you have some chips that have no toppings on them to make sure you get that crunch factor with your nachos. We will definitely be back in person or Togo.

The place looks small on the outside, but inside it's massive. The service was pleasant, accommodating and very quick. The food was amazing. I had a Taco Salad and it was HUGE! It was in an edible bowl and I brought fully half of it home. My drink was black iced tea and it was amazing as well. On the whole, we would drive out of our way to go there again. Prices were about average for restaurant visits these days. My wife had the Tres Enchaladas and said that they were delicious.

The consistency is what I really like about Shortys. Chips and salsa are promptly brought to the table and drink orders are quick to follow. Decent margaritas and quality Mexican food are served up with friendly waitstaff. Muchas gracias.

Been coming here for years, bar staff has always been on point, friendly and attentive. Takeout was also great but now service is slipping and so is the quality. Our past few takeout orders wound up not having sides and salad dressing. This has been an ongoing issue as the folks handling front of house really seem one struggling with doing their job. Out last dine in experience wound up with one of our guests coming down sick after eating their meal. This hasn’t happened before and now we’re thinking we are going to stop going here now. Add to that another order came out wrong and nobody came by to see if we wanted any water or even offer to clear any of our dishes off the table. It just seemed that everyone was on autopilot and could have cared less. It’s a shame because after 10 years you can really see the decline. * 4-6-24 Gave it another shot despite our previous bad experience. Unfortunately we were there for a bit over 50 minutes for only two drinks and an appetizer. Our order was taken 20 minutes after we initially sat down. There was only another party of four at the time of our arrival, the restaurant was not busy. The server just came out after 35 minutes and gave us our appetizer, left our empty chip bowl and walked away. We ate, paid the bill and left, we won't be coming back now.

Salsa lacks flavor. Tastes like doctored up canned tomatoes. Enchiladas were ok, nothing great. Refried beans were very dry and overcooked. Pretty disappointing because I love refried beans. Margaritas were just ok.

We waited about 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. We had two small kids with us and everything took forever. There were not many people there and it still took 2 hours from when we walked in until we left. The food wasn't good at all.. I was very disappointed in this experience. I ordered a munchwrap .. it came with bacon and I don't eat bacon. The waitress said they always put it in even though it's not on the menu. A lot of people can't eat bacon because of their religion or other reasons. They did end up taking $10 off the bill, but kept reiterating it's made with bacon. I won't be going back to this location. We always go to Nashua and it's almost always a much better experience. I also found a hair in my food... Which was the icing on the cake.

It had been quite a while since going there. It was good. Some beloved items weren't seen on the menu anymore. It was relatively convenient location-wise at the time. It was a nice change of pace. A bit more sour cream being included would be a suggestion. There was barely any there when it came out. Profits wouldn't be impacted greatly by doing so. The waiter was OK. It's a nice place, and too bad the original Litchfield, NH location is no longer an option.

Food is great, lots of offerings and is most similar to Tex-Mex that we have found in New England. We have done dine-in and take out, both are great options! The staff does seem shorthanded so be patient or let them know when you sit down that you have a timeline. The staff is responsive to requests!

Visiting from NY for the weekend and as we were coming back, we decided to stop by. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was like old diner vibes. The food was also really good! My friend got the ribs (which were definitely worth the hype) and I had the pulled pork quesadillas. Super good and bigger portions than I expected. Definitely should stop by if you want to grab a bite. They even have a rewards program!

Liz was extremely rude and disrespectful. When my food and drinks were all made incorrectly and sent back she assumed we were trying to get everything for free. She said to me “you do know we are running a business here” and “you just think you can get everything for free” when all I ate was a bite of my food and some beans and also took maybe two sips from each cocktail. The first of which was disgusting and made with salt when I was not asked if I would like salt so I sent it back. The second was again made with salt even though it specifically said it was made with a cinnamon sugar rim. So I sent that one back as well. Liz acted like I was stupid and didn’t read what was in them and told me to not order something I won’t like. That was not the case at all and I told her that. After paying for what my sister ate/drank and leaving a wonderful tip for my server Jack who was very nice and professional I tried to talk to Liz and she ignored me. Overall I would not recommend eating at this location unless you like to be talked down to and treated like trash by management or whatever Liz is.

Rat or mouse running around under patrons feet tonight. I was amazed as I was eating this rodent ran from my feet as others on other side of aisle jumped and screamed. Then it happened again 30min later. Waitresses said no manager in house and made a phone call. Unbelievable service! No manager. No apologies. Not coming back.

This is our "go to" for Mexican. The food & atmosphere get 5 stars, although we always get espinaca & there is inconsistency in how much they fill the bowl. Last time we went it was only half filled. We chocked it up to rising prices & shrinking portions but we were not happy about it. We don't send food back, we've seen the movie "Waiting" lol (fyi, very funny movie). The service the last 2 times we went was horrible. They always have large parties to serve there so as a party of 2 we were probably not priority. Probably just luck of the draw on particular servers though, but 2 times ago we had to ask for our drinks after the food arrived. They dropped our food & immediately turned & walked away. I tried to call her back to say, "hey...we never got our drinks", but she kept walking. We were half done by the time we got them. Probably because we were just doing waters that night so we were not in a que. You would think dropping off food & seeing no drinks on the table would be a red flag though.
