2023- Got 2 orders of the shrimp boil! Comes with 2 corn cobs, potatoes and sausage! We got Cajun garlic butter! IT IS Cajun! Had to rinse it but it was so Good! Just to much heat. 5 STARS! No doubt! 2024- went again. Got 1 order of the Cajun garlic shrimp boil! Comes with 2 corn cobs, potatoes and sausage! We got Cajun garlic butter! Has some kick! Got 1 order of the garlic snow crabs and shrimp! Awesome food! Enough to share one order or for 2 meals! 5 STARS! AGAIN!

Everything was really good but the hushpuppies were something serious 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

The owner is the nicest guy and the service was outstanding. We bought shrimp to make ceviche and a couple of prepared meals which were mouth watering. The prices make it 100% worth it and I can't wait to retun and patronize simply seafood again.

I had the whole flounder basket with red rice and greens. The flounder taste absolutely heavenly! It was fried and seasoned with perfection. My daughter and I shared the meal. I wished we had gotten 2 baskets!

Don't wait to get in here for the fresh seafood once it's gone for the day. Servings have generous portions. Make sure you get one of the garlic boils. There are picnic benches to eat outside, but most people got it to go.

Had the crab boil. Oh my, so delicious. Ate outside on picnic tables under huge oak trees. Enough food for 3 people, but in my case, 3 more meals. Absolutely best food I have had on this trip.

The amount of food we got with the crab and shrimp boil was amazing! It was also delicious! There are picnic tables outside which were fine but if I lives around here, I would do takeout. Absolutely delicious food and the cook/proprietor was charming and helpful.

Great value, as they provide you with a huge selection of fried foods to choose from. More of a takeout place but you can eat at the outdoor benches. Onion rings, shrimp, fried clams and the flounder was solid.

First time eating here and it is really good! It’s impossible to find fried clam strips around here. They are a staple up north but difficult to find here so I was happy to find a place that had them! The clam strips were nice and crunchy, not soggy at all. The sides were good too. I got Mac and cheese and collards and both were great. Definitely would recommend. My only suggestion would be if they would make their own cocktail sauce. Fresh tastes so much better!

Blown away. At here about 3 weeks ago, and must say this is the best fried shrimp and hush puppies I’ve had… maybe ever. Mac and cheese was great. Unassuming place with seafood market. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing food, the snow crab and shrimp boil is excellent, and Joe Cheddar who is chef was very helpful and helps us do a mild sauce. Thank you for everything Joe! You rock sir!

First thing: this is NOT a sit down restaurant. At all. They have a few picnic tables outside, that's it. If you want fancy, this isn't it. We went prepared based on other reviews here and it's worth it. This place is for to-go orders. -We brought our own crab leg crackers. They do not give you any because it's to-go. -We brought our own wet wipes to help clean up after, you get napkins, but anyone who has had crab legs should know that no paper napkin is enough. -We called a local brewery, "Low Tide Brewing" and asked if we could bring outside food. They said it was fine so we took our food there, got some amazing drinks and ate our massive amount of crabs for 2 hours. We got a garlic butter snow crab legs boil and a Cajun butter blue crab boil. While both butter options are great, I would recommend the Cajun butter over the garlic as it's the perfect level of some spicy without being too much. This was my first time having blue crab and it was an interesting experience lol. The amount of food you get on these boils is crazy. After 2 hours we still had food left and ended up not being able to finish all the potatoes. While the prices look the same as the touristy spots it's easily twice the amount of food and tastes so much better. I highly recommend planning out your trip to include this spot, especially if you co.ebouy to a a Johns Island to see the Angel Tree.

Had some yanks come down for a visit... Simply wasn't open yet but took my order. Crabs & shrimp was awesome done on time for pick up. Rocking it!

I waited 10 minutes standing around before someone actually attempted to help me. Seafood was a bit skimpy for the portions, considering it's by the pound, but the price was right. Whiting and flounder cooked up fresh, and the muscles were tasty and fresh, the shrimp, not so much. Seems really hard to find fresh, non fishy tasting shrimp anywhere outside of Red Lobster. Lol (seriously)

Cook some mean salmon for me one day, and I loved every minute of it. Crab legs are excellent to.

The catfish special was delicious and the red snapper was amazing. Customer service was excellent, we are for sure coming back. The owner gave us some sauce to try with the fish and he wasn’t wrong it made us want to go back for lunch the next day! If you want fresh seafood to take home to cook they have a large selection and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

This place blew my expectations out the water. I thought it would be good but it was truly one of the most satisfying meals I've had. I got the grouper sandwich which they were super kind to make blackened for me instead of the usual fried. The menu price being 18 is 10000% worth it because this was the largest portion of fish I've ever been served at a restaurant. The bread wouldn't close around the fillets (plural on purpose) and I could barely get it in my mouth, yet I persevered. I don't think grouper would usually be a fish I pick, but my God was this maybe the most buttery, flaky, well seasoned fish I've had in memory. For my sides I got collards and Mac n cheese, two things I like many others am very particular about considering truly good or not. These both met the standards for me. The collards especially were a treat as they had hunks of pork throughout. And get the house made sauce!

Nice hometown restaurant and fish market on the side of the road on the main drag in johns island. Locally owned and friendly staff. The food was great and the fresh seafood is on incredible.

Very unassuming place. Great selection of fresh seafood. We were on John's Island, next door to Simply Seafood, attending a Little League game. Google Maps showed us this highly rated nearby location. They also offer a variety of freshly fried seafood and sides sold in ample portions. There is no inside seating but plenty of picnic tables under the trees outside. Interesting experience as we were leaving. A gentleman who was leaving, commented that he frequently drove by but had never stopped before. He dropped in to get grouper. He was surprised when asked if he wanted it cooked. He had not realized they cooked as well as sold fresh seafood. (He took them up on their offer.) Will definitely return when in the neighborhood.

We have had like the shrimp boil and crab legs several times! Great food get the Cajun butter sauce in it or the garlic butter sauce. You will love it!

Holy cow. If you are in the area, you MUST stop by Simply Seafood. We had the butter garlic lowcountry boil and it was SO good. The fried okra was also so tender and cripsy. This was one of our best meals on our SC trip. It was so lovely to sit outside under the trees.... so thankful to have found this spot. There might be a small wait since there are few staff but good things come to those who wait, right?

Super value. Three entree platter under $20!!! I had clam strips, shrimp and oysters. Wife had a salad topped with oysters. All good... But- eat in the parking lot on a picnic table, in the car, or take it home. It's a bit sketchy inside with fresh and frozen seafood for sale too. Dismal decor... If you've been in a struggling mom and pop takeout place before, here's another one. Some enthusiasm and a little $$$$ spent on thoughtful paint etc would do wonders. This could and SHOULD be packed with folks taking food home or sitting outside with some more cafe lights etc. At least make cocktail and tartar yourselves, MUCH better and cheaper, and sends a message of quality.

Visiting from out of town. Googled seafood places, went with this one, one that had the best reviews and pictures that were appealing. This place did not disappoint!!! It was delicious!!! Was a little hesitant due to seating inside but we just sat outside at a picnic table. Luckily it wasn’t too cold. Only down is that they did not offer crab crackers and had plastic forks. I’d definitely eat here again if we came back.

This place is a true hidden gem! They have amazing affordable seafood. I often order online and pickup for dinner. Their cajun shrimp boils and fried oysters are delectable! Don't forget to order creole sauce for dipping.

Best Lowcountry boil I’ve ever had and I like how you can pick and choose what you want in it and how much! They do other plates like fried seafood or you can get fresh seafood to take home and cook yourself. Great local place and service. Will revisit for sure!

Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Food was fantastic! We had the Cajun blue crab & shrimp boil, and the garlic shrimp boil. The Cajun sauce was favorite. Very spicy and flavorful. When we are back in the area, we will definitely return. Highly recommend!

We were hungry for seafood and we like to support family owned businesses so we stopped in here. We were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and we left with happy tummies! Definitely will be back the next time we are in the area!

Nice small island feel and the fried shrimp, okra and hushpuppies were absolutely wonderful. The people working there were friendly and on the radio playing was Tennessee whiskey as I browesd looking at the fresh displays of fish and shrimp for sale overall a great experience thank yall very much and I'll be back

Absolutely delicious! We had takeout from Simply Seafood while vacationing on Kiawah Island. The boils and platter were fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Will definitely visit again.

Loved the calamari and clam strips. The seafood sauce is going to be a great hit. Can't wait to see it on store shelves or am able to order from your website. My only suggestion is find a really good recipe for hush puppies. They where ok but didn't match the rest.

Small portions, $14 platter didn’t get close to filling me up, and they gave me a free watermelon that turned out to be rotten, I’d pass

That shrimp boil? OMFG that was the absolute BEST shrimp boil I've ever had. This is a very modest take out joint with the BEST FOOD I've eaten this year. I'll never understand why people go to expensive restaurants downtown when you can come here and eat like an absolute KING for a fraction of the price. Thanks so much. Keep doing what you are doing and I'll see ya on TV soon. Next time I come down from Charlotte I'll be back!

Super fresh & absolutely delicious!! I can't believe I have waited so long to try this place! Don't wait.... go! Oysters were fresh & not over-fried. My husband had the blue crab boil, which was GF (for him) & he LOVED it! My daughter had a shrimp/flounder platter with onion rings & fries.... all delicious! My fried okra was ah-mazing! I just don't have anything bad to say about this little gem & hole-in-the-wall.

Great food! We.ordered a lb of crab legs,.the seafood platter, the shrimp boil and the whiting. All were delish! The garlic butter was a nice touch and the hush puppies were yummy. Bring your own crab cracker if you eat there.

OMG!!! I'm so glad that we came across this hidden gem! Counter service, Fresh seafood, great prices and wonderful prompt service! Not only do they have a dine in (out door seating) take out but they offer a selection of fresh, raw seafood to take home with you as well. If and when I'm in the area again, I will surely being enjoying lunch/dinner there again.

I was looking for a different restaurant to try today while I was on John island because I live in the area and it was not what I expected. It was not seasoned and I ask for extra garlic and it was not enough. I got a crab and shrimp tray and turn around and got a shrimp tray. I will NEVER RETURN AGAIN and i was really looking forward to bringing my husband here because he love seafood and the outside would be nice to sit outside but now i got to find another spot.

Randomly stopped here on our way to the Tea Garden and it was SO GOOD. I wish we lived closer because I would definitely visit often. 10/10 would recommend. We had the shrimp boil with the garlic butter and it was plenty for two.

We made the mistake of ordering one seafood boil per person; huge amount of food, and one order can feed two. Wonderful balance of spices, homemade, perfectly cooked. The seafood looked so fresh and high quality. If we didn’t have so many leftovers, we would go back!!

We were vacationing in Kiawah Island looking for s good seafood place. Found Simply Seafood on line, decided to try, twice. No table for inside dining. We ate under the trees, some of the best fried food I’ve had. The white fish, scallops, oysters, okra were great. Simply delicious.

Delicious food! The shop is both a restaurant and a market that you can purchase fresh caught seafood. The fish sold in the market seems to change regularly based on the catch and the menu seems to stay the same. Although, I believe I saw a daily specials menu as well. This small shop is owned by very lovely people. Both of the people I spoke with were very sweet. We had two 'choose three' platters that came with fish, clam strips, shrimp, and oysters, and everything was delicious. However, I was really impressed with their friend okra. That okra with their Creole sauce was outstanding. The food is takeout only, which was great for us, but they have some picnic tables outside so you can eat there and enjoy the beauty of the area.

This is the place to but fresh seafood and...they even prepare it for you on site!

Johns Island Favorites - Great low-country boils and seafood, extraordinary flavors and service.

Amazing food and the workers were very helpful! We ordered food and ate it outside under some beautiful, shady live oak trees. We enjoyed the best shrimp po’boy, flounder fish sandwich, and collard greens we’ve ever had! Would definitely recommend!

This cozy little seafood restaurant/market is simply amazing. It was a nice way to end our trip to the Charleston Tea Garden and Angel Oak. We got collard greens, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The seasoned rice went perfectly with the greens. The flounder fish sandwich was the best I have ever had. Really. I would go back here again. And again. And again.
