Best soup around! Couple different options everyday!

I got three different soups, two pieces of cakes and ice cream. The ice cream is always good, melt quickly but I don’t mind that. The soups to me were not bad but I wouldn’t buy them again. The two cakes one of which was tres leches were too dense for me, didn’t taste bad but the texture was a little off.

Cute place with some seriously good soup. The best are sublime and even the “weaker” ones are still good.

Delicious, magical soups! Great selection of hot and ready to eat or refrigerated soups to stash in the fridge. Always a nice healthy and allergy conscious soup or two, but also sometimes just hearty, wonderful comfort soups. The shop has some desserts and treats and also a few thoughtful household items that would make nice gifts.

I highly recommend the seafood chowder. It was packed with shrimp, clams et. al. I was indecisive on choosing between oyster crackers and bread (because I really love oyster crackers with chowder), and on a whim went with the bread. It was a good choice too.

A very unique and a nice place to stop. They only have take out but have a nice selection in the refrigerated case & offer hot soup to go with a choice of a roll or crackers. The soups are delicious! The staff is friendly and they offer cookies and sweet treats as well! I definitely recommend 💗

I love this little place great customer service very tasty soups and baked goods . Price are very reasonable. Great place to visit on a cold day!

Great selection. Freezes well so i purchase a variety of flavors when I visit and freeze for future use. Only concern is the amount of sodium is not known by the employees and they can only suggest purchasing chicken noodle if sodium is an issue

I really love soups during the colder damp days and when I’m not feeling up to par. This place has the best soups, other than what my grandmother used to make, that I’ve had. Having tried several of them, I had pegged this as my go to place but after the unnecessary and rude response from one of the employees recently, I have to rethink that decision. The soups are truly delicious but that employee needs to lose her attitude.

Was driving home from Clinton and it was chilly and windy. Didn’t want to drive to Hamden without checking to see if the soups I wanted were available. Called to see if the golden pea soup and chicken orzo was still available and was told, Yup, it’s in the fridge, thanked her and got, bye with a hang up. Got there, got the soup. Was checking out and now I get conversation. She had to work all day tomorrow and of course the boss is off. Wow, I work all day too just like most people. Soup was great, guest service needs help.

My friend recommended I try the soup, not feeling well and really needed a bowl of soup,it took awhile for the Uber to deliver my order, but it was worth the wait. DELICIOUS 😋 😋 😋. and the salted chocolate chip cookie. Great job The Soup Girl.

So delicious! I tried the Beet Bisque. And can't wait to try the West African Peanut in my fridge. They offered many vegetarian options so this will definitely be a part of my weekly food rotation.

I absolutely adore the Soup Girl and the Scoop Girl! I live in Virginia and can’t wait to stop here when I come home for a visit 3-4 times year! The soup is delish!! All of the different flavors…yummy!

Absolutely fabulous soups! Homemade like grandma used to make. Buy a bunch and freeze and you are all set, especially in the colder months!

This is our go-to place for ordering lunch where I work so this comment is essentially equal to 15 comments. Food is awesome everytime, most recent experience with them my Uber driver stole my order and they sent free cookies/ crackers with the replacement order and an apology note for the problem which wasn’t even their fault to begin with. Customer service 10000000/10

Soups are fresh, flavorful, and diverse. I love the seafood chowders and bisques, and also the tomato bisque. The grilled cheese combo is a great bargain.

Their soup is good, the woman at the counter isn’t the friendliest. If you want to attract good business, especially being new I suggest you not have so many rules, and act kinder towards your customers. Just a suggestion.

After my daughter and I both had the stomach bug all weekend, we were finally ready to try to eat something. I always wanted to try the Soup Girl and thought this was the perfect opportunity. I had the Lemon Chicken Orzo and my daughter had the chicken noodle. Omg it was delicious. Flavorful. Right amount of lemon. It was amazing. We will be going back.

I don't know which one of the lovely ladies is " the soup girl" and I actually take turns calling them either " girl" or " soup", but despite my inability to thank the appropriate person, everytime that I visit the store, I go away happy. I am always confident that I am will be lead to an awesome tasting soup that is still somehow, consciously made. So thank you. 5/5 stars. And what is on for Monday? Lol

The Soup Girl in Hamden is my go to, whether I'm sick - or healthy - and just looking for something cozy and comforting. I can't thank them enough for the high quality of food they provide and the comfort their soups bring me. Thank you!!!

I've tried many different soups over the years, and recently the addition of lunchtime grilled cheese, also. DELICIOUS! Never had something I didn't like. Especially the lasagna soup... best I've ever had!

I gotta say I come here often and I am highly disgusted to have open my Italian Wedding soup to see a bug float at the top and other remnants of what appears to be specks of bug particles. Just gross.

Love The Soup Girl! I usually pick up soups from their refrigerated case or at farmers markets when I see them. Lots of great vegetarian options and always enough variety that everyone could find something they’d like. The soups also freeze well if you buy a bunch of them.

The customer service was excellent. It was challenging to decide on a soup but the young African American lady at the counter was patient and answered my questions. The soup was excellent, and the bread pudding was tasty! Will definitely return when I am back in Hamden.

Ostensibly, I travel to Hamden to see family, really though I go for the soup at Soup Girl - I've tried many of their soups and they have all been delicious. The shop is pleasant and clean and the staff or polite. Best for takeout.

Would walk miles for their watermelon gazpacho soup.

Purchased a soup bowl from their fridge and they heated it up for me because I was looking to eat nearby. Chose the Tuscan bean - it was wonderful. Oyster crackers were included and they were wonderful on the soup too. Lunch for less than $10, nothing to complain about!

A nice little place! The soups are delicious, not cheap but you get what you pay for so I would say it’s worth the price, it’s still a inexpensive lunch and since the soup is already made there is practically no wait. There is no seating but if the weather is nice there are some public benches nearby

The soups are really good quality. They're a little pricey but they're really really good. I just have some food sensitivities that make it difficult for me to eat things where I can't see all the ingredients and the nutrition facts. When I ask I usually can get a list of ingredients but I can't usually get the macronutrient amounts. Still I really love the roasted beet bisque which is available in the summer, the West African peanut soup, and the lemon chicken orzo. Also the coconut rice pudding is amazing, and even though I'm not supposed to eat it I will occasionally buy it and eat a couple bites and give the rest to a family member.

***Update*** Original review copied below. Having given a second chance, fully satisfied with the service I received here. JESSICA was kind and understanding, and the uniqueness of the location really shines. Upon recommendation I enjoyed a new soup (Thai Red Curry w/ sweet potato) and can attest for the high quality of ingredients used. Even was able to enjoy some PURPLE COW ice cream that their SCOOP GIRL provided (just in the back behind the soup area, same building) and really liked the white and dark chocolate chips. I appreciate the employees here that have helped me these last 2 visits. ***Original review*** Going to give this spot another try. Soups in the refrigerator are not individually labeled so if an employee places the wrong soup under a section in the refrigerator you would never know. Until you get home and have 2 of the same soups. Not very safe when concerned with food allergies. Hopefully the next time I go in I won't have this issue but I did enjoy the taste of the soup I ended up with.

First time going here because I had a craving for a good split pea soup and saw that it was in the menu. Cute little place with a good amount of options. My fiancé and I got the yellow split pea, the chicken curry, the lemon orzo and the Thai. All are fantastic. We also tried the tres leche bread pudding and vanilla, so filling and delicious as well. This place is deff on our takeout rotation.

The soups are great. I tried 3 on my first trip! My father is a soup-loving chef and he liked the soups as well! The storefront is small but it works and is pleasant to visit. I'll be back!

I LOVE this place. Their soups are amazing. The cold soup selection is big and convenient. The hot soups are fresh and a perfect temperature. I keep going back for more.

I will go out of my way to stop here if I'm even remotely in the area! I eat a strict gluten free diet and they always have a nice variety of gluten free and vegan options. I am very picky about the quality of my food and they always go above and beyond!!!

Saw the sign when I was taking a new route back to work. Picked up a few things and everything was delicious. I’ll be going back often. I highly recommend it to anyone. The desserts are fantastic as well

Amazing! The soup is to die for! Chicken corn chowder is my favorite, just bought 2 quarts.

Second visit over the last week and have enjoyed their soup very much. Picked up the vegan chili today and it was AWESOME.

Ice cream is really great. Fresh, fun flavors and very cheap for a single scoop. Definitely worth a visit.

Soup was made with fresh ingredients but the cost was way too much for the level of flavor going on in the chicken tortellini. I'm sure being a local business it's necessary, but the "healthy" angle outweighed the flavor on me and that's not what I'm about. Staff was friendly and the place was super clean so can't fault them for that. All in all, it's ok for what it's trying to be, but it's not for me. I need more flavor at a better price.

Awesome soup in a clear glass jar that takes 30-40 minutes to prepare. Just had the Thai Lentil today but there are soooooo many varieties to chose from. Just a small suggestion ... cut back on the sodium. Bravo Caledon Soup Girl!

Tried this place out, first time, today. I loved it!! I got the hot seafood chowder, the gumbo, and the chicken noodle. Everything was flavorful. Clean and friendly staff. I will definitely be back.

Very polite employees, nice atmosphere and the soups looked and tasted amazing. I had a cup of corn chowder, and took shrimp scampi for dinner. Both were great, will be going back quite often!!

Love every soup from the Soup Girl you can't go wrong weather it's a fresh made, hot soups of the day or one of the ones from the fridge, I'd share my favorite but it'll become your favorite as well and I want all the soup for myself. 😁 Also make sure to grab a scoop of ice cream while you're there

The Soup Girl is DELICIOUS and HEALTHY and I would be so lost without her! Clientele are often grumpy and carry attitude problems to match their privilege- but the folks who work there are great. I love all of the vegetarian soups but veggie dumpling is probably my favorite-

If there's anything you need in 1 meal Soup Girls has it in 1 bowl but better. All ingredients are all natural $4 per cup $6 per cup with a variety from vegan/vegetarian/meat lovers. Once you go you'll always return. Just can't beat it anywhere.

Easy to access, clean and organized place. The desserts are surprisingly very good. I wouldn't have thought that soup and dessert would go together, but they do! I have been back twice in 2 days nursing a cold and the soups hit the spot.

I'm literally in love with this place. Everything is amazing. Chickpea salad was fresh and is wonderful over a bed of greens. Chili was meaty and not too spicy. Butternut soup had a great smooth texture and great flavor. You won't be disappointed!! Great for a cold winter day!
