Comfortable stay and good behavior. Satisfied!!

Excellent spot for PCT hikers. The bedrooms are delightful - beautifully quaint home. The sheets are the sofest I have slept in. Everything is exceptionally clean and comfortable. Like sleeping in your own home. The service could be a little more kind - but despite the hostess being a little rude, I cannot complain about the service, the food or the stay!

Sharon and her crew are such nice people. This location is great, the rooms are fine and the shared bathrooms are more than enough for what you need to do. Sharon was very accommodating, and the food was superb - you will not hike hungry! 5 star given location to the park and overall vibe. Will stay again if venture up to Lassen again.

Great service and hospitality; rooms were clean; no issues with the shared bathrooms. The lodge was conveniently located near Lassen Volcanic park, and a great base to explore the surrounding area. Daily breakfasts were yummy, especially with the Sunday breakfast buffet! We also had dinner on one of the nights, and were treated to a generous and delicious meal after a full day of hiking. Would recommend!

better than expected! the 2 shared bathrooms are clean and well maintained. the rooms were sufficient. Sharon was great. she checked us in late at night and was there again the next morning cooking breakfast. she gave us good advice on where to eat in town and warned us about driving slowly at night since there's lots of deer around. would stay there again.

The staff at St. Bernard Lodge are incredibly friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and offered great suggestions for local activities. Excellent customer service!

Sharon’s place was a great and centrally located spot to explore Lassen Volcanic NP. We stayed in the Bluebird room for 2 nights and she was a sweet and responsive host - even washing our towels for us every day which was completely unexpected. Sharon was also super accommodating to my dietary restrictions - she made me a veggie burger for dinner and a delicious salad. Breakfast is built into the cost of your room rate and Sharon cooks it fresh every day. There’s also coffee close to your room with creamer and sugar. There was an unusual heatwave while we were staying and unfortunately the AC went out but that wasn’t Sharon’s fault and she was as accommodating as possible. She also provided us with lots of great recommendations on things to do and hiking within the park and outside of it. I’d recommend the St. Bernard Lodge.

Stayed here before going hiking the next day and it was a great stay after a long drive! The room and lodge were quaint and cozy, and the food was delicious. Would absolutely stay here again 😁!

Cozy lodge in an ideal location for first-time visitors to Lassen Volcanic National Park. My partner and I arrived on Friday evening, and Sharon showed us our accommodation in the Evergreen room. It was the perfect size for two people and conveniently had it's own sink! There are two full bathrooms shared amongst all the guests, but we never encountered a wait. Sharon provided us with some information on the top sites in the area and helped us design a custom itinerary based on the weather and the time we had available for our hikes. Would stay again!

Excellent 2 night stay at St Bernard Lodge! Great location for exploring Mt. Lassen National Park! Owners were gracious and informative. Amazing breakfasts! We also had a lovely dinner last night at the Lodge! Pork chops were yummy! The owners are closing up for the winter next week! So check this out when they reopen in the Spring!

My wife and I cannot recommend St. Bernard lodge enough. We spent two wonderful nights there while visiting LVNP. During our stay Sharon and Jim made us feel like family and provided amazing meals. While everything was phenomenal, you have to make sure you try the sautéed mushrooms. The lodge is rustic and cozy and left us feeling a sense of nostalgia not found in many other places. We wish we could've stayed longer, but know we will return in the future.

It was all-right! I enjoyed the all wood interior!.If you want to refrigerate or freeze a food product, you have the ask the woman who runs the place. Not a big deal. She is not allowed to let you back into the kitchen, since that is a commercial food prep area. Again, not a big deal. The place can feel a little dated/rustic, however it is to be expected of a building this old, with a lot of history. Enjoyed a great view of the night sky, while getting some air late at night. Overall, 4 stars all around!

A very cozy lodge with a lot of wood, decorated with love for detail. The room was pretty small, but the bed was very comfortable and we only were there to sleep anyways. Everything was clean and tidy. Both breakfast and dinner were super delicious. Sharon was very nice, helpful, and gave us lots of tips about what to do in the area. It is about a 25 min drive to the southwest entrance of the park, and 12 min to Chester. We would totally come again.

The room and general accommodations are not the comfiest or most welcoming (at first), but the breakfast and especially the dinner were the best food we had in Lassen. The decorations are really cute, and the longer we stayed, the more we liked the place. Ended up even getting some souvenirs!

Really awesome place. Very cute decor throughout - the owners clearly put a lot of heart into it. Ideal location - close to the park, and near a small town where you can get gas and groceries. Breakfast and dinner was amazing - strongly consider making dinner reservations. Clean bathrooms, clean rooms, always had fresh towels. Personal touches throughout the experience - coffee was ready to go in the morning, drinks served with frozen mugs, etc. Small things that really just amounted to a perfect stay. The owner also knew the area very well and gave great recommendations. Overall 10/10 experience.

Wonderful lodge with great food and very helpful advice for exploring!

The architecture and interior design reflect the rich heritage. The vintage furnishings have been lovingly preserved. We stayed here for 2 nights. I am attracted by the history of this house via those pictures and photos on the wall. The lodge tells a story. We love the breakfasts and dinners. The food tastes so well. My kids love the hot chocolates in the morning. Thanks for Sharon telling us some activities in Kohm Yah-mah-nee. Both my sons earn the junior ranger badges. If you ask me why I recommend this B&B, the super delicious food and the efforts to preserve this classic beauty touches my heart.

Great place to stay for Lassen NP. Sharon is a great host and makes a great big breakfast of your choice each morning. She is also very knowledgeable about the area & can recommend anything you are looking for. 2 full bathrooms are available for guests to share. Beds were VERY comfortable and sheets are so soft.

Some 38 years ago (at age 15), I enjoyed what I've always felt was the best hamburger of my life. I've always wanted to get back and validate my childhood memories. Perhaps on a date. Life got in the way. Sadly, it took me 38 years to do so; however. I was not disappointed. We spent the weekend there and found ourselves in a lil slice of heaven. Rooms were beautiful, and the meals were amazing. And the service, second to none. I promise not to wait another 38byears to return.

"Cozy rustic charm with style and charisma!" All rooms were decorative and warm, the beds '"Oh, so comfortable". Each meal hand prepared & delicious! No lie! We stayed with other friends, and were able to relax and gather in the lounge with bar, pool table, sitting areas, etc. A definite "must stay" if visiting the Lake Almanor/Lassen Volcanic Park area. Sharon and Jim will take care of you like family. We will be back for another stay soon. Shout out for our hosts - you will adore this place!

First time at a B&B and it was amazing! The room was very cute and comfortable. It was creaky once more people came in the evening but it wasn’t too loud. Sharon was simply great and she also gave a lot of tips of what to do near by. It was relatively close to Lassen Volcanic NP. It was also close to Chester if you needed anything in terms of supplies. I would definitely come back here for on my next trip to visit Lassen Volcanic :)

The owners, Sharon and Jim were wonderful. .Sharon was very knowledgeable on amazing things to do in the area. Jim is an Amazing cook. Absolutely fabulous food. The B&B was very nice and quaint. Only 15 minutes from Lassen Volcanic park. And close to many other outdoor adventures. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Sharon and Jim for making our vacation wonderful. And for giving us a jump I our final day.😊

Such an excellent stay - I really enjoyed my time at the lodge! Many homey touches that made me comfortable after hiking a lot at Lassen Volcanic National Park. She was absolutely wonderful about providing recommendations and guidance for how to best spend my day! Would absolutely go back!

The most amazing lodge in the area. The owners make you feel at home, in fact pamper you. The facility is absolutely top notch. Every minute detail is taken care of. Can't get better home made food either

Although the initial service lacked in some spots, it was understandable considering the recent fires destruction and recovery that was under way. A beautiful, rustic property with a pristine rear lawn and pond. A true oasis perfect for stargazing and relaxing in the sun. The house gets a bit creeky as it fills up, the hallway especially, but these things come with age. Please make reservations ahead of time for dinner, it is worth it. The food service is where the hosts true craft shines. Excellent dinner. Definitely worth a stay.

First B&B experience, and loved it! The lodge was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and Sharon was so knowledgeable about the area, hiving us great tips for places to visit.

Beautiful location, pleasant and helpful hosts, and great food. They inquired about your plans for the day and in each case, made excellent suggestions about something that you should seek out where you were going.

I only have praise for Sharon and the St. Bernard Lodge. Our first time ever staying at a bed-and-breakfast was flawless. The food was incredible — plan ahead for a dinner — and the room was wonderful. The two shared bathrooms never once presented a problem; when we needed to use them, they were available and stocked. Sharon also gave some excellent pro tips for exploring Lassen, along with a great scenic drive on our way home. We're undoubtedly looking forward to our next stay!

Very good value all around. Host is accommodating and full of local travel knowledge. Included breakfast is hearty, delicious, and has BIG portion. The only thing I can nitpick is the creaky floors and the highway noise. But considering the price we paid, I can’t really complain.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay at the St. Bernard Lodge. The location is perfect for going to Lassen or the lake (about 30 minutes in either direction). The room was cozy and clean. The beds were firm for my preference, but they were in good shape and had the SOFTEST sheets. Please note that bathrooms are shared, but they are very clean, and there was never more than a 2 minutes wait in the morning for the bathroom during our stay. Breakfast, dinner, and drinks were all homey, tasty, and great priced. The hosts chatted with us a bit and gave some tips on things to do in the area, which was nice. My husband and I enjoyed playing pool in the lobby and the provided board games. Though the website states there is wifi available (and there technically is), it is VERY slow. We would have downloaded a movie or two had we known, but we will be better prepared next time! We look forward to a future stay!

Fantastic experience here staying in the sunrise room. Such a beautiful atmosphere inside the inn and in all of the surroundings. The caretakers were great, cooking delicious dinner and breakfast and serving great late night drinks.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights here for our trip to Lassens National Volcanic Park. Our room was very cozy and we loved the experience of being at a bed and breakfast in the middle of the woods. Our phone cell service did not work here so it was a relief that there was wifi at the lodge. The best part of our stay were the big and filling breakfasts (travelers breakfast, and the blueberry pancakes had sooo much blueberry it was delicious). I enjoyed the fruit bowls we get in the morning too: made it energizing to have a big outdoor day. The owners of the lodge are super helpful when we asked for advice on where to go and insider tips of where to park for neighboring areas. There were pamphlets and other resources in the front. We also reserved dinner here one of the evenings and it was served perfectly on time. The food was deliciously well done and we loved the mood lighting and how quaint the ambiance was. We got drinks at the bar after and that was nice too (prices were fair, $15/2 drinks)! Thank you for the nice experience. As a note, if you're sensitive to noise and have the opportunity to choose which rooms, get the ones facing the pond instead of the highway. I didn't have much trouble sleeping, but for some of light sleepers, it's worthy to note.

Softest sheets I've had in a long time. The owner waited around even though I got in late, because she knew I liked ice. Be sure to use the provided ear plugs: old B&B with lots of wood. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful! I loved the whole experience.

Very charming lodge and the food was delicious. The host family worked hard and Sharron was friendly and helpful. I loved the dark skies and Neowise comet viewing opportunities.

Absolutely one of the nicest places I’ve stayed. The owners are so nice, they really go out of their way to make you feel at home. It feels like an old western movie when you climb the stairs to the rooms. I don’t even think we closed our door. The beds were so comfortable. And coffee was ready when I woke up. St. Bernard Lodge is a great base from which to explore Mt. Lassen Park and other sites in the area. The rooms are comfortable, clean and charming. The dining is excellent with delicious home cooked meals and the fully stocked bar was a real bonus after hiking all day. I look forward to next visit.

Es un edificio antiguo y los ruidos se escuchan bastante. El desayuno es riquísimo y abundante. Cenamos un día y la cena fue muy sabrosa y grandes cantidades. Muy recomendable!

We stayed there for two nights in Evergreen room (this room has a great view to the mountains), superb short vacation. Real family business. Hosts are great and food is so tasty. Try blueberry pancakes if you decide to stay there. Easy access to all nearby attractions. Make your homework, there are many local trails that we found only upon arrival. For example Bizz Johnson trail that can take several days to finish segment by segment or make it in one day by mountain bike. Other places to visit - Lassen, Subway cave, Burney falls, Spencer meadows... I am a bit slow to update my reviews, but we did stay two more times here for last years. This area offers a lot of opportunities and there are many places to see. Sharon has great suggestions for hiking destinations and we always find something new for us. And yes, food is great as always!

Stay here if just for the food! Even if the bed is a bit uneven, or if the floor creeks. You'll sleep well anyway after a day in the outdoors. Show up for breakfast and you might as well be staying at some 5 star hotel or even a resort. My complements and thanks to the cook! Now upon arrival, you may not feel welcome. And forget any kindness or introduction after your very long drive into the wild. But your host only needs to warm up a bit and soon she will be like your mom. But stay here if just for the food.

My room at the St. Bernard Lodge was super cozy with a huge comfy bed. The bathrooms were clean and convenient. The food here is amazing. If you get the chance, order dinner and you will be in for a treat. The included breakfast was huge and delicious and the baked goods are some of the best I've ever had!

Very clean and very nice home style food. Some of the rooms don’t have private bath room, but the shared bathrooms are very clean.

Hospitable staff with wonderful inclusive breakfast!! The lodge is furnished nicely and features a nice bar with a pool table. They even turned on a backup generator for me to take a shower. Would come back.

Bed was super comfortable, room was cozy but cramped. We returned from our function at 2100 and the only thing we could do is go to bed.....everything else (sitting room, dining room), was locked up tight. The place is quite old, with all the creaks and groans you'd expect, but when folks come in late (as many of the patrons did), you aren't going to sleep until they're all settled. Only two bathrooms for either of 7 or 8 rooms so get up nice and early to take care of yourself before the rest wake up. All in all, not a bad experience, but not a great one either

We travelled as a family, with 3 kids aged 11 to 13 during the summer of 2016 and stayed at the St. Bernard Lodge B&B for three nights. The owners are very open and friendly. They shared their knowledge on the area with us and pointed out special places to go on our route (thanks for directing us to the Whiskeytown lake!). The cooking is heavenly (my son wants to go back asap), breakfasts are hearty and start you well into a day of hiking at Lassen. Distance to the National Park is about 20 mins by car. Too tired to eat out in the evening in Chester we stayed for dinner as well at the Lodge and didn't regret it one moment. The bedrooms are decorated with care and are really cosy. We had the quieter rooms to the back of the house. We did not hear our neighbours on the first floor where we had the bedrooms. And sharing the bathrooms was never a problem during our stay. All in all we had a marvellous stay at the St. Bernard Lodge. We would return anytime soon if the distance from Europe wasn't so enormous. We recommend the St. Bernard Lodge to travelers who want to have a home-style stay with excellent food and knowledgeable hosts. Thank you! And thank you, Jim, for teaching us pool:)

Close (enough!) from Lassen, great owners, nice cosy rooms, shared but super clean bathroom, nice restaurant with great food (ribeye steak cooked to perfection -rare!!), very good quality/price ratio!

Note: Originally this was a two-star review. After receiving a response from the St. Bernard Lodge I have added back a star for customer service. They did not offer me any incentives. However they showed honest concern and consideration of my feedback. First, my bad for not reading the website more thoroughly before booking. This lodge has no private bathrooms. There are two bathrooms on the second floor shared by seven bedrooms (each has their own sink in the room). Again this was my bad for not reading the website more carefully. If I had realized this I would not have booked it. Pro: The lodge keepers were friendly and business oriented. Con: The lodge itself is dated. The cleanliness of the room wasn't up to par. There were spiderwebs all over the ceiling and in the morning I noted an unidentifiable something under the edge of the bed. I might have thought it was a hairball, but they didn't seem to have a cat. The walls of the rooms are so thin we could hear our neighbors on one side arguing (word for word, not even pitched voices) and another neighbor snoring down the hall. We didn't get much sleep on the uncomfortable bed despite being exhausted from traveling the entire day. This lodge will not be on my recommendation list.

We loved our stay at St. Bernard Lodge. Ours hosts were friendly, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the food was fabulous. It is a quaint B&B with a great family-feeling. Definitely a highlight during our vacation.

I had a terrific weekend at the St.Bernard Lodge. My best friend and I enjoyed an amazing, hearty breakfast every morning, then hiking, fishing, and the great outdoors all day. We even enjoyed a dip in the hot tub. Everyone was very courteous and accommodating. Thank you for a beautiful weekend
