My Polish wife and her sister say this is the most authentic food they've gotten since living in the States. The cherry vodka was amazing! Zurek was very tasty.

We arrived past 8pm with no reservation. We waited just a few moments before being sat at a clean table in the vip section. We ordered the plate for two. It came with an assortment of everything that makes this place special. Highly recommend getting that if you are torn between your selection My husband got the ale. Excellent.

Polish grub. Home cooking at its best.

Polish flavors in Chicago. Very good restaurant, high-level service and a wide selection of Polish dishes and something to drink. What I can recommend is the broth and pork tenderloin with Silesian dumplings in mushroom sauce. The dish is really very tasty, just like at mom's house. I really recommend going here and trying Polish food in the United States.

Fantastic kitchen. Surprising zucchini pancakes and spinach dumplings. Cucumber soup is also worth recommending.

Beautiful restaurant and great pierogies

I was very impressed with the care of their kitchen took to package my to go order. I was taking steak tartare home and they were kind enough to pack it with ice. Their concern for food safety was impressive and kept their dish delicious

This was as homey as you could get. I was there when there were only 2 other tables sat, middle of the afternoon. I bet it's more awesome when it's packed. The food was honest, delicious, simple, not trying to do too much. Loved.

10/10 amazing authentic polish food, pierogis as good as ones we’ve had in Warsaw. Cabbage rolls, potato pancakes, beet soup, everything was fantastic.

Today I ordered devolaya with fries, unfortunately I received raw, pink chicken. The quality of the fries also left much to be desired. The entire dish went into the trash. First contact with the restaurant - big fail - I probably won't come back here.

Authentic and tasty Polish cuisine.

The food has always been delicious, I’ve been coming here since a child and this place has always been a fond memory for my whole family even when new chefs are introduced. Their mushroom soup has and is still one of the best items in the restaurant. Their food portions are huge compared to the price you pay and you will 100% leave full and have plenty of leftovers The kotlet is about the size of both my hands maybe even bigger and mashed potatoes are hiding underneath, after soup both my mom and I were full and had plenty for leftovers I would 100% recommend this restaurant especially if you are looking for some good authentic Polish food!

Delicious food with unique options!

I have not been at Staropolska in ages. Cant remember what I ordered last time I was there. It apprars it has gone through major renovation. It is still in the old heart of the polish neighborhood. I attended the first communion reception and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was very tasty. Poultry was fresh, salads crispy and the sweet bar was very balanced with plenty of fruits and sweets. It was a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Be aware there might not be enough parking on the street for the patrons. I need to go back there for a traditional dinner to make a final opinion.

came in on a Wednesday as a group of 6 friends. reserved a table, was promptly seated. a little weird to sit on a bench against a wall but maybe that's part of the old world charm. lovely interior building. had the family style dinner: kielbasa, some chicken-kiev style dish, cucumber salad, various pierogies, Hungarian goulash, rye soup (had egg and sausage in it, first time I ever tried it). cheese blintzes for dessert very friendly and professional service. food was impeccable, would 100% recommend

We love this place. The wait staff are sweet and the food is amazing. It is so delicious, you can't stop eating it. Plus, there are a lot of unique dishes like bacon wrapped prunes.

Reminded me of my gramma’s Eastern European home cooking: delicious beet soup, goat cheese & beet salad, veal meatballs, mashed potatoes and apple kuka (strudel-like cake)! Although people rave about the beef stroganoff, the beef was dry & stringy and I had to add a lot of salt & pepper. Also, the cabbage rolls had tasty tomato sauce and lots of meat & rice but just a wafer-thin cabbage wrapping.

My wife and our family love coming here. The service is great, the food is authentic, and we always leave with leftovers for the next day.

Polish stew(bigos) on a thursday night way way to greasy like a bowl of oil.

This was our first time trying Poish cuisine and our server was immensely helpful in helping us pick out a dish. We had the scalloped tenderloins in cranberry sauce and the veal meat balls. The food was outstanding. The service was prompt and efficient. Highly recommended for the brilliant food and service.

Don’t expect quick dinner here , waited 35+ minutes for appetizers to come ( salad and mushrooms) then another 30 minutes for main food ,20 minutes for glass of beer Restaurant was half empty but doordash orders were “flying” out of the kitchen, not really sure how it works

The food was spectacular all around. The Veal Liver was perfect, and the Vienna schnitzel was scrumptious. Great atmosphere, with attentive staff. Great for group meals or for dinner out with the kids!!

A couple friends that I came here on a Friday night for dinner. There were several tables available. We got sat down right away. I think the service was slow because there was only two ladies working in the front and I’m not sure how many people were cooking in the back. But it definitely took a really long time to get food - about 30 minutes after ordering. I got the stuffed cabbage and a side of cucumber salad. The stuffed cabbage was definitely just OK. I feel like I could make this better at home. It was under seasoned and not as hot as I wanted it to be. The cucumber salad was overly salty for me - the opposite of the stuffed cabbage. To be honest, I had some higher expectations because this restaurant has been so highly rated. But I was just underwhelmed. I did have a shot of vodka - orange and clove. That was really good. And I didn’t taste any vodka.

The food is pretty good. Mulled wine was good and sueprisingly cheap. Prices are really fair. The decor is very pleasant. But the service is far from good - we ordered 3 different dishes, only 1 out of 3 was correct. A girl was very nice to us and apologized, but we still had to wait double time. What a shame, could be one of our favorite spots.

One of Avondale's best restaurants without a doubt. Authentic polish food with so much flavor and huge portions. They have a "Special for 2" and it's honestly nearly enough to feed four people. Great for the variety and definitely affordable for the quality. My personal favorite dish is the Hungarian Style Potato Pancakes which comes with tender beef stew and peppers and giant potato pancakes. Everything I've ever tried has wonderful. It's a really nice atmosphere inside and they have a banquet room to the side of the main dining area as well.

Excellent authentic Polish food, friendly and punctual service. Reservation was promptly acknowledged, many large groups of people yet did not feel forgotten.

First of all, I enjoyed the beer again and again and again. The favorite was the mushroom soup. It brought back memories from 30 years ago, it was very, very good. Also, to recommend are the potato pancakes and Beef Stroganoff. Later had coffee and next time I will have the cake. Thank you for great food and great service.

Very disappointed based on other reviews. While our server was pleasant, she did not know what she was doing. Forgot to bring several items which were ordered. The food was just OK. Nothing special. The rest of the staff need to learn to smile.

Food is really good, but the service is very bad. We wait 1.5h for food, it came cold and the servers would take weren’t around often. I seemed like the restaurant is understaffed.

Super cozy spot with super cozy food. I’m no connoisseur of Polish food, but I was really happy with everything we ordered - cabbage rolls (such tender cabbage and meat with luscious tomato sauce), zucchini pancakes (great caraway flavor, crisp and chewy similar to a Korean pancake), herring in oil, pierogi (spinach was quite flavorful and well packed), and multiple soups! The sour rye soup was really unique, both creamy and sour, and the mushroom soup tasted like it was made from scratch with tender little dumplings in it. The apple cake was lackluster with undercooked puff pastry, but the sauce and apples were still tasty. I can’t wait to go back and try more things!

I was truly hoping the recent reviews were wrong, but they were spot on. Service was friendly but order was not good; options of polish cuisine (combination) not really available unless party style of 3 or more people. Perogi was good but other food not so much. Beautiful venue and otherwise lots of potential, but compared to other authentic Polish restaurants, I wasn’t impressed!

Rude waitress, served stale bread, unnecessarily greasy food and overpriced. Go to any Polish deli hot bar instead.

Staropolska Restaurant is an absolute gem in Chicago! I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it's safe to say it's the best Polish food I've ever tasted. This place is like a delicious secret waiting to be discovered. The Hunter Stew I ordered not only satisfied my taste buds but also worked wonders on a hangover that I thought would never go away. If you're looking for authenticity and mouthwatering flavors, Staropolska is the perfect spot. A solid 5-star dining experience that I can't wait to repeat!

Me and my girlfriend got the ‘special for 2’ for 40 bucks. Lots of food and at a pretty good price. Sort of the highlight reel of the menu. The cabbage was absolutely killer. The bacon wrapped plums I loved (although my gf was lukewarm on them). Pierogi was good but no more so than others I’ve had. The potato pancakes and schnitzel were not nearly as impressive as the rest of the food but still tasted great with the sour cream and applesauce. Next time I’ll make a point to order something a bit more off the beaten path. Atmosphere here is great, service was solid. This is the sort of place where it’s fine to dress up or down. The bar was pretty cute. If I were drinkin I would have loved to get a big weird polish beer.

Tamtejsze kelnerki są beznadziejne zrujnowały impreze !!! Nie wiedza kiedy się podaje przystawki i napoje w umówię było jasno napisane ze o godzinie 1:30 pm Przyjecue miałam zaplanowane na 4 godziny od 1:30 do 5:30 goście mogły przychodzić od 1:10 pm Goście siedzieli przy pustym stole. Kelnerki były bardzo powolne niedoświadczone nie znają polskiej gościnności ! Widelce i szklanki były niedomyte, ktoś prosil o czyste sztućce ,nie przyniosly . ktoś z gosci prosił o talerz tez nie nakryły na czas , Stoły nie były nakryte na zapłacona i zaproszona liczbę gości Osobiście .zapłaciłam gotówka 1500 dolarów na 3 tygodnie przed data uroczystości ! Zupka podana w malutkich miseczkach ,porcje obiadu były bardzo skromne i bardzo małe porcje. Najgorsze ,mięso w gulaszu trzeba bylo łowić sos był wodnisty . Było bardzo ciasno przy stołach złe nakryto na brzegach , Owa sala jest max . na 40 osób z trudnością nie można było się poruszać stalo krzesło przy krześle trudno bylo usiąść przy stole a jeszxze gorzej bylo spożywać posiłek Resteuracja specjalnie ściąga więcej ludzi ,aby mieć zysk finansowy nie dba o wygodę gosci ! Mówią ,ze sala jest na 60 osób .a to kłamstwo ! Moich gosci było 50 i trudni było wyjść zza stołu.,nue mogłam przeprowadzić zabaw i gier dla mlodziezy z braku miejsca nie bylo mowy o tańcu . Większość moich gości wyszła głodnai nie zadowolona napewno nikomu nie poleca tej przechowalni ! Ja osobiście tez nikomu nie polecam tej resteuracji dopóki będą tam pracowały ukraińskie niezaradne niegościnne kelnerki !

Bardzo przyjemna restauracja. Fantastyczna, uśmiechnięta obsługa! Zjedliśmy zupki - barszcz (przepyszny, smakował jak mojej mamy!!) i żurek (zapach cudowny!). Na drugie pierożki, nie zachwyciły mnie, ale generalnie jestem zadowolona! Nawet chleb z prawdziwym masłem był dla mnie atrakcją!

Excelente comida, platos abundantes y el trato de la camarera fue super amable. Fuimos a almorzar y habia lugar de sobra y platos del dia muy recomendables. Los precios son realmente económicos.Los baños super limpios, todo estuvo espectacular ! Sin dudas volveremos !

This is one of the best Polish restaurants in all of Chicago. The expansive menu has options for everyone: a great variety of entrees, dumplings, soups, and salads, as well as vegetarian options.

Was there Easter Sunday for a one o' clock reservation They were busy , I get that but things slowed down .All in all , inconsistent service. Not offered a second cup of coffe and then felt we would never get out of there . Stop the cleaning at the bar and be attentive to your customers Food was pretty good .

First time in Chicago and knew I wanted some good Polish food as a fellow Pole. This place really hit the mark and service was impeccable. We had the potato pancakes, polish sausage and ground pork schnitzel. All of it tasted homemade and good quality. Made me a little emotional. We had the “polish drink” too which was so refreshing and tasty! Please give this place a try if you are in town. The decor is so beautiful and well done. We came out from California and were not disappointed!

The 4 of us ordered family dinner and we needed a bigger table for all the food! Soup, potato pancakes, sausages and chicken, savory pierogies, bread, sauerkraut, cucumber salad, veggies and rice...all delicious! We were starving so really enjoyed everything, and even the cheese blitzes for dessert! Did need to have a box for extras to take home. Excellent service, amazing food and cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return for delicious comfort food.

Great ambiance, staff was super friendly. We split the “dinner for two” platter which I would highly recommend! The potato pancakes, sausage mix and golabki werre great. The pierogis were okay but not the star. We also got the kolazcki for dessert—they were good but I think the apple cake would have been better

I was in Chicago and my daughter took me to this restaurant. It was the best Polish food I've ever had in my life. It's truly homemade Polish food that my grandma used to make. So when I go back to Chicago this will be the first restaurant I go to. Yum yum 😋

Best restaurant I’ve eaten at in a long time. Everything we ordered was delicious and clearly from scratch (beet soup, potato and cheese pierogi, beef stroganoff, warm sauerkraut, apple pastry). Service was also great, our server Svetlana was very sweet and suggested the apple pastry that had just come out of the oven. 10/10

Went there with native polish speakers on a Saturday afternoon. The potato pancakes and beef stroganoff were amazing, some one commented that they were ‘just how grandma makes them’. Substracting one star because the bread was a bit stale and the pierogi was nothing special. Will definitely repeat.

Went here for Valentine’s Day and was completely blown away. The Ukrainian Borscht was outstanding. We got the shared platter and everything was delicious. Beer and cocktails were great. Service was friendly and attentive, they are definitely more laid back. Everything is good, and tastes like it was made fresh.
