10/10. Great sandwiches. Good service. Worth a drop in!

Great deli! Love the atmosphere also. Our group had the muffuletta, tuna salad and Ruben sammiches. No complaints.

OMG! Stein's Market is reason enough and alone to come to New Orleans. I came just before COVID hit and I'm still raving about it. Never in my life have I had a Rachel like they serve. It is SO good that even after you are stuffed you want to hang around and watch others take their first bite, just to enjoy the heavenly expression they take on. I complemented the owner - raved in fact . He barked, "We don't serve crap! Nope, they surely do not. I am coming with 11 family members in January and we are headed there as soon as we unload our luggage. I tell you, I could be an evangelist for this place. When people ask me what food I loved the most I tell them about this deli.

Foxy with roast beef, cheese & avocados & Hot Pastrami & Swiss were delish. Ordered half dozen everything bagels with half pound of lox and scallion cream cheese for breakfast. Next best to eating in NYC.

I always get the Rachel with extra sour kraut, pickle chips, & ALWAYS get potato salad! Love Dan & the atmosphere as well They do have gluten free bread too. & a great black & white cookie 🫶

Stein’s consistently never fails. If you are first timer, I highly recommend the lox or Reuben. I have read comments about the staff being rude. Personally, I have never experienced or witnessed such behavior. Actually, the opposite has been true for me. The owner has a hard working team who has always been ready to help me. People need to recognize how busy they are day in and day out. Thank you guys for always taking care of me when I come there.

Delish! Bagels are awesome! Can't wait to try something else. So much on the menu, hard to decide! Seating can be tricky when busy. Wish there were umbrellas over the tables outside. My vanilla latte was good and the fresh squeezed OJ can't be better. This is a gem!

There are fools in new orleans who buy sandwiches from any restaurant other than Steins. We must forgive their ignorance. THERE IS NO BETTER RUEBEN. THERE IS NO BETTER OWNER. Seriously, don't waste your life eating sub par sandwiches made by jerks. Go to Steins instead. It'll be so worth it.

I really enjoyed this deli, best roast beef special that I’ve ever had!

Wear expensive clothes if you want to get any service. When you walk in the door at lunch you'll immediately feel awkward. The "line" for the counter doesn't exist. If you decide to eat there, you'll be sniffing the butts of the people trying to figure out how to order their food because the tables are in the way of the counter and beverage coolers. Definitely feels like Jersey. The dumpster part.

A New Orleans classic! Great jewish deli (yes NOLA has a long jewish history)! With fantastic sandwiches, daily specials, great beer & gourmet soda selection (we had a Belgian Lambic ale with our sandwiches). This place has been an institution for decades. They make their own bread and those crunchy deli pickles!

Stein’s market has the best sandwiches and the people working there were great. The owner was working the register. We tried to order almost everything on the menu. It was all great. The Rueben, the roast beef, the meatball, one of my kids ate breakfast sandwiches, and I had to go get one of those after I finished my Rueben. Great place to stop for a bite to eat. Loved the bohemian feel to the place. My kids loved looking around in there.

Stein’s is the best deli in New Orleans by a ludicrous margin. What makes them the best is not just having the best food, it’s how much they clearly care. They understand that respect for the food is respect for the customer, and vice versa. The character and soul in this place is undeniably charming, and I just cannot stay away.

Nothing but NO vibes coming from this place. Starting with limited parking, the small dining area, the corner store atmosphere. It’s all here and it’s all great! I had the Italian with hot peppers. Perfect amount of spice from the peppers which complimented the meat and other veggies. Sliced Parmesan cheese (???) had a great bite to it. The bread itself was the perfect amount of chew and heartiness to hold up to all the ingredients. Service was quick and efficient and I was able to get in and out before getting a ticket for being illegally parked. Great spot!

New Orleans’ own version of the classic Jewish delicatessen. Excellent food, generous portions, and a fun, irreverent attitude in the decor. Seating is limited so you’re likely to have a conversation and possibly make a new friend.

Sandwiches are excellent; clearly using top quality ingredients and fresh rolls. Their muffuletta is one of the best I’ve ever had. The environment is a match made in heaven Of dive bar meets liquor store meets big city Jewish deli. Eclectic clutter is everywhere and it’s just right, and probably makes the food taste even better. Service from the man, myth, legend himself was prompt, efficient, and kind. Eat here.

Food was good, but some customers were rude, by taking my place on the table while I got to toilet and get back (and he was already seated... no reason for this attitude).

This is a must stop for us every time we visit NOLA. It is simply delicious, the service is fast and friendly. The bread is baked on site, super fresh, they have a wide variety of drinks, sodas and beers. My husband loves their half pickles.

I would give this #%& six stars if he would be nicer! Lol, jk! Everything Dan makes is great!

We ordered Rachel’s sandwich. It was pretty good. The only problem is they should get a bigger space because it’s very crowded and there’s literally no place to sit and enjoy the sandwich.

You will never find a better sandwich in Greater New Orleans area. If you're lucky, owner Dan Stein will be the one to take your order (in a deadpan sort of way that gives real personality to the restaurant). If you're not a NOLA native, do try some local Cajun and Creole cuisine. But do NOT miss out on this terrific NY style deli owned by a true mensch.

Steins deli makes real deal sandwiches. We had their version of the muffaletta and the mumbler, both pictured. Very casual environment, and definitely more of a to-go place or quick bite, but that was perfect for us. We even saw Dan himself! Left him alone, but it was cool to see him after watching him on Queer Eye.

This place was recommended by a Lyft driver I had. Finally got around to going, because my brother is in town. It was phenomenal! Definitely 10/10 🤌🏻. The Sam sandwich hits on all levels!

I expected more, sandwich bread was bakes so much, it turned to dust when bitten. No the cleanest environment, very small.

My earbuds were pleasantly thrown at me within seconds of walking in the door for my second time that day/ever. I didn’t realize they weren’t in my pocket all day, I just liked the first sandwich so much I figured I’d grab another. Ask which breads travel well if you’re squirreling your sandwich for later.

We ordered the "Dan" sandwich, a bag of Utz chips, and a bottle of Barq's Zero Sugar root beer. We ended up splitting it, and it was $17. They were extremely friendly and offered to split the sandwich into two baskets for us. This was a lot of sandwich! We loved every bite! The turkey, the bacon, the cheese, the bread! It was all delicious! I would definitely break my travel rule(don't eat at the same place twice on the same trip) and come back here again. Thank you!!!

Traditional deli with a great Muffaletta and beer selection. 100% will come back next time we are in NOLA.

Stoped in here today while out exploring the magazine st on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. Excellent atmosphere inside with all the patrons sitting beside eating and chatting. Not commotion all the art on the walls that spoof pop culture. So good. Now to the food. Absolutely loved the sandwich selection. Just see the photos. I wish I had a place like this back home to go get a sandwich like this and this size. So I definitely say stop in if you’re visiting NOLA and want an excellent deli sandwich.

Great place with lots of character!

This sandwich shop is legendary, there is no doubt about it. The food is delicious, but I have real issues with their unhygienic practices. There is not a single glove or hairnet in this entire place. Most of these guys have long hair and beards, and they handle all the raw cold cuts and cheeses with their bare fingers. As I waited for my food I watched them making all the sandwiches with their bare hands, going from meats to vegetables without washing, wiping off on dirty rags, digging their fingers into the center of hoagies to fold them over and wrap them to go. It is disgusting. If you don't care about that type of thing, you will enjoy the food.

If you've never had a real NY pastrami sandwich, you might like this place. If you have had the real thing, you know this is hot garbage.

My favorite restaurant on Magazine street, the building and food gives vibes of an old Brooklyn deli shop.

We were watching the New Orleans episode of Somebody Feed Phil S1E5 and someone mentions that Stein's Deli is one of the best. So when in town we had to try it. I had the Corned Beef Special. It was fantastic! One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. We went at 2:30 and the place was busy - and now I know why.

Okay so I had a mufaletta here after having one at another place that shall not be named. Stein's version is now my version. The bread was the deal breaker. Served warm and crispy, there was no comparison. Every time I come to town I will be coming here for that delicious bite of amazingness. The cashier was also charming and funny, love this place.

Love this deli. They sell some amazing produce, have the best beer selection hidden at the back, and make the best bagels in New Orleans. The breakfast bagel with bacon or sausage, egg and cheese is my favourite. Update : years later its still amazing. Sesame bagel could be my favourite

You wouldn’t enter here if you were not told to, the entrance is not welcoming you to do. However the surprise is in the inside. The place is warm, smells wonderfully, the staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. The best corn beef/pastrami sandwich we have ever eaten! And very good price! If we ever come to NOLA we would not doubt it, we would come here every day!

Delicious sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Came in around 3 so it wasn’t very busy which was nice. Good service and lunch was served up very quickly.

Bacon egg & cheese bagel was good!

Bustling and chaotic in the best way. The market is fully stocked with amazing imported items. The pastrami was sliced thin and the edges were crisped up with the melted Swiss frico on my Rachel and the fact that they have a Taylor Ham breakfast sandwich available sealed the deal.

I love the seating. Outside it looks a bit intimidating but inside you find yourself sitting more community style. Drinks galore and you are bound to find 1 you like (wine to water to tea). I had a ginger tea. Yum. We had tomato soup - a bit sweet for me. We tried matza ball soup and it was a 1st so my rating would be unfair. The broth was good and peppery. I had a Reuben - was great! We also had a pastrami sandwich and it was the 🏆 prize pick. I am glad we chose here to eat. If I was a local I could see visiting there often. It gives new you deli vibes. Also homemade pickles -2 kinds and I favored the sour ones. Can not go wrong here

Best Reuben I’ve ever had probably, usually the sauerkraut is pretty sour but this one was just right. Eating it hot was the best decision ever

I lived just up the block from this place for 4 years and only visited for the first time today. (They're usually closed by the time I'm not working) I'll definitely be back. Very neighborhood and friendly feel. Yummy food. Damn good beer selection.

Absolute best sandwiches anywhere! Doesn’t matter what you order, you’ll love it. Although, I highly recommend the Fernando sandwich. Deli also offers dry goods, and beverages.
