Not a fancy place but you will have the best fried chicken ever at steves! This is one of our favorite places for casual eating.

It was fine. I'm just picky about what I want on a sandwich. They don't have lettuce. You have to ask for salad lettuce. But the tenderloin sandwich is always awesome.

A great place to take your family or a group of friends to eat … the reason for a 4 star on the food is the ham was really salty and it had a strong piggy smell… But the fish and chicken was delicious….

Food is great, really wish y’all would upgrade the seating/atmosphere though!! The lighting, seating and size of the restaurant is anything but comfy and the teens working there are far from respectful.

So I REALLY hate leaving bad reviews for what is obviously a family run business in the country where choices are few. We happened on this place yesterday on a motorcycle ride, saw good reviews on Google maps so went in. No seating available. That’s cool. Must mean it’s good. Waited then sat down as a table opened up. Your seated close w people. Normally I’m cool with that but being flu season and two families with sick kids coughing two feet from my head wasn’t fun. Not really the owners fault. The space is what it is. But guys…..I Ordered the country ham. Took one bite. Never touched it again. My buddy ate his because he was really hungry and felt off afterwards. It’s the first time I paid $17 for a meal (just to support them) and did not touch the food after one bite. I ate the sides which were mid. Looking back, after smelling it I should have insisted on a normal option like a burger but they were slammed and I didn’t want to bother the young girls serving. Others leave good reviews so hoping my experience was a one-off. If you go maybe stick w a burger or hopefully the chicken is better. Stay away from the ham. Best of luck.

Great little diner. Loved the fried chicken and from scratch pan gravy. Very few places make gravy like this. The only reason five stars was not given was due to the greenbeans tasting like right out of a can and the chicken pieces were small. I had the 3 piece mixed chicken plate. My wife had a very tasty burger. Both meals were very good. Would definitely recommend the fried chicken but if you are a big eater then go for the five piece plate. The service was excellent and very friendly staff. If you are in the area it is worth the drive.

Excellent fried chicken lunch and service. Nice quiet family diner. Other lunch options but fried chicken special is so good haven’t tried them. We stop every time we go to Jeff city from the lake if possible

When I first got there I was excited. I read about it and I thought a new place to try. I asked if the ham was very salty. The server said it wasn't. It was. If you are someone who is watching their salt intake you don't want to eat their ham. Yes, I know ham can be salty. Hence, why I asked; not all ham is salty. This tasted like it was cured in a salt mine then rolled in salt for good measure. My husband had the all you can eat catfish he said it was good. We did not share the meats, just the sides. The server quoted us 1 price and when we went to pay it went up $10, then she asked for a tip. Excuse me? I went to the bathroom, my husband asked the server if I could have a refill on my ice tea. When she brought it back she slammed it on the table. We had to ask for more sides, which we got an attitude. I wouldn't waste my time or money again.

Food was amazing. Chicken was juicy and delicious. Can't forget the crispy fried catfish as well. Great place to have dinner as a family.

Drove down Highway C today through at least two counties shopping at stores along the way. Living in Cuba now we don’t get to Jefferson City that often and certainly not to points west along Highway C. For supper we stopped here at Steve’s Family Style Restaurant. The food was excellent and the service even better. The gravy served with the mashed potatoes was so delicious that it made even a salad taste good.

Very nice staff, good chicken, shrimp was poor $13 for 6 average pre-breaded shrimp. Canned string beans...Cole slaw was horrible. Probably will not stop at what one reviewer called "a hidden gem;" actually more like a piece of creek gravel.

Excellent fried chicken! The food is always good (except the cole slaw that tastes strong of vinegar). It is a very popular place, but sometimes they don't have enough people working.

This is one of those hidden gem restaurants. Best fried chicken! All around everything on the menu is good. Free homemade bread when you sit down. Amazing and friendly customer service

Great Food! Four of us ate family style and it was delicious!! Service was excellent as well! If you want a good homemade meal you wont go wrong. The mashed potatoes are real, not a powdered mix.

Had our annual work Thanksgiving lunch here. Great family style dining. The fried chicken was amazing along with many great tasting sides and dessert.

I am from Jeff and part of my family is still there. Every time we visit, we can't go without eating at Steve's. The food is awesome, and staff is wonderful. We've gone at different times and have never had to wait long. They are very accommodating for my mother as well, she is in a wheel chair. They always make sure to seat us where she doesn't get disturbed by people walking by. I think we've tried everything on the menu...all has been so yummy! I HIGHLY recommend this place.

I always get the chicken dinner. However, my family always get the all you can eat chicken and fish +sides included. It's a bit of a drive which is well worth it. If indeed you want a hot and absolutely delicious meal.

Best fried chicken around their hours are somewhat different than most places

Steve's has great Catfish and a nice selection of of other entree's. I only ever order the Catfish so I can't comment on the other items on the menu. Nice people. Good food. Reasonable prices. I like it there.

During a recent snowstorm our family of 5 really needed to get out of the house as we had been stuck inside for a week. We tried to find a place open to eat. My wife and I both had forgot about this gem. I called ahead as we were just planning on taking to go. However, the lady was so nice that I decided we should pack up and go. We had the place to ourselves. The food was exceptional (I love their fried chicken) and the service was beyond stellar. Great job Steve's!

Steve's is a great place to eat with great home cooked meals, but if you get the all you can eat, first round they bring out 5 pieces of chicken which was quickly eaten. Then it seemed that we waited quite a while for a re-fill on the chicken, and once brought out we recieved only 3 more pieces.

Got dinner for parents. Last time they ate from there was three years ago and they have been SO sick, not leaving house at all. This is a sweet place to eat but food was different this time around. Eating in is recommended as takeout is risky of all places. Staff are sweet and positive vibes.

A very good family atmosphere sit-down style restaurant. The staff is amazing it's a very clean fun homey place to eat. The food can be described as what you would get at your grandmother's house is a very good home-style type food.

It gets crowded. They served good food. But they were out of coconut cream pie and that is my favorite.

FANTASTIC fried catfish and chicken. Slaw was fresh and had good flavor and potatoes and green beans were done right. My only complaint is the ham (thus the 4 stars). It was way too salty and tough. Service was extremely fast for our large party after a funeral. I would recommend this place to friends for a great out of the way small dining establishment.
