It is a spectacular museum, it contains several types of airplanes, it shows you the history of aviation in the United States, it is worth visiting but you have to take your time because it is big and if you stop at each airplane, time passes.

It was a great experience for the whole family. The simulator is a ton of fun, the gift shop is a bit underwhelming but the museum is fantastic. Walking in you’re greeted by a SR-71 and you instantly know it will be a great experience. The highlight of my trip was the B-36. I have wanted to see a B-36 in person my entire life because my grandfather was a pilot on them. It happens to be parked directly next to the B-52 which is what I was a Crew Chief on. That was a surreal moment for me. There’s a lot for kids to do as well, especially in the space exhibit. The food court was very good and reasonably priced as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see any of the shows but I’ll definitely be back.

If an up-close experience with American Military Avation history sounds like fun to you, the SAC Air Force Museum is a Must See !! Welcoming visitors is an actual B-1 Bomber standing proudly at the entrance - without barriers. Walk right up and touch a piece of history. This treasure of a museum is designed to entertain children and thrill adults. Suspended just inside the entrance is an actual SR-71 Blackbird - the most successful and infamous spy plane ever built. She floats majestically, just mere inches out of reach. No image can compete with witnessing the prowess of the Blackbird in person. Also on display are a missile silo control station, space capsules, a space shuttle flight deck, an atomic bomb, a cruise missile, a few helicopters, an impressive array of historic military planes, and more. Located only one minute from the Interstate, this patriotic and impressive museum is well worth visiting. If you stop for only one attraction in Nebraska, the SAC Air Force Museum should be your destination.

I served in the Air Force during the Cold War, mostly in SAC at Offutt, RAF Mildenhall and Torrejon AB Spain. It was great to step back in time and see some of the aircraft I actually worked on and some that I watched take off at Offutt and Mildenhall. I enjoyed being part of SAC and enjoyed seeing aircraft from the past. I recommend that if you are in Omaha you should see the SAC Museum as part of your trip...the Cold War is one of the war's we won! And is being preserved to show everyone the aircraft that were flown before and during the Cold War.

It's a great museum. Lots of cool planes that instill a sense of awe at the ingenuity of humans. I have fond (and vague) memories of the old boneyard-style museum with a bunch of decaying planes out in the sun with ladders sprinkled around to be able to climb into cockpits. I'm always left with a feeling that something is missing in this "new" (can things from the turn of the century still be called new?) museum. I miss being able to get inside the planes, touch (some) controls, and really be transported into a different world. Maybe I'm just getting old and nostalgic, but this last trip left me pretty depressed by the thought that it took a desire to eradicate other humans on the other side of the globe to enable the kind of teamwork, community, and engineering that gave us these amazing machines. I'm not able to simply enjoy the planes for the marvels that they are without also considering their purpose. I hadn't noticed the incredibly sobering slogans "peace is our mission," and "peace is still our mission" on previous trips. It's kind of Big Brother-esque to claim that peace is the mission of the people with the bombs and guns that could wipe out humanity.

**Exploring Aviation History: A Marvelous Experience at the Airplane Museum** Visiting the Airplane Museum was an exhilarating journey through the annals of aviation history. Nestled amidst a serene landscape, the museum offers a breathtaking collection of aircraft that spans decades of innovation and progress in flight technology. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the sheer magnitude of the exhibits. From the early pioneers of aviation like the Wright brothers to modern marvels of engineering, each aircraft tells a compelling story of human ingenuity and determination. The museum's displays are impeccably curated, providing detailed insights into the evolution of flight through informative placards and interactive exhibits. One of the highlights of my visit was seeing iconic planes up close, such as the legendary Spitfire from World War II and the sleek lines of a Concorde supersonic jet. The meticulous restoration efforts were evident, preserving these historic aircraft in pristine condition for future generations to appreciate. The museum doesn't just focus on airplanes; it also delves into the broader cultural impact of aviation. Exhibits on wartime aviation history, the space race, and pioneering female aviators offered a comprehensive view of how flight has shaped global history and culture. Throughout my visit, the staff's passion for aviation was palpable. Their knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer of depth to the experience, as they shared captivating anecdotes and answered questions with infectious enthusiasm. For aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike, the Airplane Museum is an absolute must-visit. It's a place where the spirit of innovation takes flight, offering a profound appreciation for the triumphs and challenges that have shaped the course of aviation history. Whether you're marveling at a vintage biplane or pondering the future of space exploration, the museum offers a captivating journey through the skies.

Half of the museum is dedicated to the history of aviation, planes and World War II, the other half is dedicated to space travel, the Apollo missions and beyond. At first, I thought it was a little pricey ($17.50 per person), but taking into account how much it probably takes to maintain a place as large as this is, $17.50 per person is probably fair.
