I never make reviews, however this place warrants a positive one. To be honest we were skeptical when we walked in, but the food and service 100% made up for it. The portions are huge & such a great price. A lunch for two costs less than fast food. The owner is such a sweet lady and she takes pride in what she makes. We found our new go to spot. Support local friends 😊

I’ve been coming here since 2015 & as I recently moved to the University area I was ecstatic to see this place still in business! This is hands down the BEST “bang for your buck” sushi spot in all of Jax! All rolls are at least 12 pcs instead of your average 8, as well as the prices being $10 or below! & the owner is one of the sweetest, most passionate people I’ve ever met! I’m so happy to have Sushi & Subs being next door now & can’t wait for my next meal!!!

Quiet, and small, but this place DELIVERS on quality and taste. Well worth the wait, be patient and enjoy amazing sushi! The calamari salad is EXQUISITE!

This place may not look like much, but don't judge a book by it's cover. Sushi was lovingly prepared by the owner and was out of this world. This will be a new favorite lunch spot for myself and my co-workers. We were all blown away!!!!

Lady always rude when I ask for the dipping sauces the sushi are supposed to have even when I paid extra,even that I keep telling her to not add some things to my sushi she always give me what she wants.Saw some roaches on the counter last time so it’s a no for me.

Fish was as fresh as it gets. Tuna melted in my mouth. It’s warm inside this three table place. Four kids and two adults ate for $40

The lady who makes the sushi is so sweet. The sushi is delicious & fresh everytime I visit the restaurant. I make sure to stop by everytime I'm in the area.

Until today, it had been 8 years or more since eating here and all I can say is wow! Still amazing. Still fresh. Still the same sweet lady running the place. Love taking business to places like this. And to boot, the price is unbeatable! $4.70 for a 12 piece roll.

The most delicious sushi, I've not had any better, any more home made, and mouth pleasing sushi in the city. Imagine having such personal and lovingly made food with the only concern to the food being that you truly enjoy it, just as a grandmother would do for their own flesh and blood. Do not go in with biases of such trivial things as the building or furniture, as the beauty of this place lies in its sincerity of a meal carefully prepared with skill, comfort, and passion. This is a gem more deserving of praise and attention. Try it.

First time ordering from this place and was extremely impressed... the prices were less then what we've spent at other sushi locations, this fact however doesnt mean less quality by far😁 we were very pleased not only by the size of the rolls but the taste of the fresh ingredients . We will definitely come back💖 we got the tempura roll, southside roll and philly roll all of which was very much enjoyed.

It was decent food. It does smell odd in the restaurant, but not bad. More of an incense smell than anything food or seafood related. It's what you would expect from a discount sushi place. Not real sushi, not real good sushi, but good enough.

my first impression walking in I thought I was walking into somebody's house it was very homey I don't know if it's in a good way. it did have a slight odor where I felt like it needed to have a health inspection maybe. overall the woman that made my food made it in front of me the food was not fresh it came out the fridge so it was not freshly cut but for the price and they do have their quality inspection certificates on the wall so you can at least trust it but you know the food can still have an effect on people with let's say sensitive digestion because it was slightly room temperature or warm by the time that I ate the first bite it was not cold. If you are used to fried sushi theres a one page menu. shrimp sauce ...their shrimp sauce is thick it is alright I guess but it's good it's a good place for a good price just wish they would change the atmosphere cuz I don't feel like I'm eating or making my food being prepped at a clean place that's probably the main thing I did not like was I felt like my food was not properly stored and properly crafted. Other than that I ate it. What doesn't kill me....allows me to have a chance to eat something else lll

Absolutely & positively The Best sushi I have ever tasted. It's fresh and just soooooo good to the tongue. I had the fried Tempura roll & a California roll (my girlfriend ordered the same) . Everything was just so fresh and tasty. The menu isn't very big but who cares, because what is on the menu is 100% perfect. If it's your 1st time eating there you just can't see it coming... It's a small "hole in the wall" w only 3 tables... ppl complained about the smell in their reviews on Google but for me it was hardly noticable, just a faint old smell which is not even close enough to bad for me to not go eat there. So if you're a sushi lover... this place is a GO!

So glad I decided to try this place. Such good (& inexpensive) sushi! Yes, the shop is a little raggedy and does have a strange smell, but the sushi is so worth it. Edit: It’s been a while since I’ve ordered from this place and it’s just as good if not better. The shop owner even cleaned up since I last went and there’s no more weird smell. Ordered a spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll, added cucumber and avocado. 24 pieces total and only $12. I love this place.

The only time I've ever had sushi this good was while I was deployed to the South Pacific. I've paid 3 times as much for sushi that was not nearly as fresh. The chef is a lovely lady who learned her craft from sushi masters in Korea and she is truly an artist.
