My daughter called ahead to make sure Suzie had a table and that we’re welcome. 10 minutes later in a cute and eccentric and eclectic restaurant we were welcomed by Suzie. She is quite the character but so warm, caring and opinionated. There is an extensive card but she prefers to suggest what you should eat 😂 so wie did. It was the best and freshest Korean food I have ever had. We all had the same dish 🤣

Good to know Suzie's hasn't changed in 20+ years. When this place was fairly new my family and I went in for dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and there was only one person seemingly running the restaurant. Dinner was good. We paid, left a tip on the table, and left. We were just about to our car when the staff member chased us to the car screaming about how we hadn't left a tip. How dare we not leave a tip for all of their hard work. Keep in mind they left the restaurant unattended that entire time to yell at us on the sidewalk. Good thing the place was empty, I guess.) One of my parents then went in, walked straight back to the table, showed them the tip, and put it right back in their pocket. I remember vividly that family member telling them that their abusive behavior earned them NO tip, a report, and customers that would never return. ... We've never been back. Remember, as a customer, if a situation makes you uncomfortable, please leave! Don't keep yourself in that situation for your own sake just to be polite or nice <3

I came here a few years back and it was one of the poorest experiences I’ve had in a while. To start, I chose this place because I was craving soba noodles and this was one of the few places nearby that offered that. My partner and I went here for a date, but it turned terrible when the owner found out my partner was the same nationality as her but i wasn’t. She proceeded to talk to my partner in her native tongue cussing out my partner for dating someone who wasn’t the same nationality and then said in english “they (my partner) shouldn’t be dating you (me).” I was shocked and my partner was extremely upset. We still ordered food out of courtesy, especially for being the only customers there, but that was another mistake. When I ordered the soba, the owner yelled at me, saying I should be ordering something different that’s more expensive. However, I came here specifically for soba so I told her was going to stick with my choice. She stubbornly left and made the noodles, which were okay (6/10) and my partner ordered a rice dish, which they rated a 5/10. By the end of the meal, my partner and I were going to split the bill, but the owner refused to allow that and said that my partner should treat me. She suddenly called me “docile” and proceeded to use that as a reason for why my partner should pay for the both of us. I don’t understand the rationale behind the payment interaction, nor the word she described me as, but all I know is this restaurant is terrible and it’s not worth the food or price.

I’m still in shock of how we were treated by the owner. We ended up leaving her restaurant when her comments became too absurdly uncomfortable. We should have known better when we walked in with an empty restaurant when other restaurants we passed by were quite packed. How she behaved was not okay and can not be justified by any means. Nobody should be treated like that, despite whether you are a customer. I guess you can try her food if you don’t mind being immersed in rudeness and madness. I won’t go back and I can’t recommend this place to anyone. I highly recommend to stay away from this place, just as the owner suggested to us.

111/100 Suzie and her creation here are grand in every sense. From the space to the decor to the food to the service and people behind the work. Great ownership and real as they come It’s more than just noodles here it’s a whole ambiance on a plate. Great selection and variety. She told me not to review her but she deserves it 🤣 but I will listen and support by returning The Chap Cheh was so flavorful and included mushrooms. didn’t disappoint. The Umeboshi (green plum) tea was so tasty (plums included) Jumbo Lump Crab dumpling were so whole

I was having an awful day when I wandered in. The decorations and lighting were charming and welcoming. The chef made excellent suggestions, and hummed while she worked. It was like staying home sick with your mother or your favorite aunt. I ordered the Oriental Chicken Soba and even though I had never had it before, it was exactly what I needed in that moment. I needed some comfort food and it was right on time. I highly recommend.

Brace yourself for encountering the meanest old woman you ever did meet when you walk through that door. When we first walked in we just figured, maybe she was flustered and in the middle of something. But no, she was nasty the entire time we were there. I wish we had left after being seated, but my partner really wanted to try the food. So we held out. The food was mediocre. Did not enjoy this place one bit.

It was a rainy day and me and my daughter stepped into Suzie's Soba for a warm late lunch. Our umbrella was dripping so I politely asked an elderly lady (was it Suzie?) where I could put our umbrella and she said just at the door. So, I placed the umbrella standing by the door and she came and yelled at us "MOVE!", as she wanted the umbrella an inch from where I had it standing. She yelled at us so loud that my daughter almost jumped out of her skin. We should've walked out of there at that point and whatever possessed us to go inside and continue patronizing this restaurant is a bit of a mystery to me. In other words, we had a bad time and felt we had to rush ordering because we couldn't ask too many questions, in fear of being yelled at again. The lady had mood swings all throughout the meal, sometimes saying nice and sometimes just being cut and dry and just unpleasant. 2 stars for the high quality of the rice green tea. We both had chicken soba and a fried shumai appetizer and were just not enjoying anything because of the dire mood we were in. This is not a cheap place, $20 for one noodle dish and I would think that one should at least offer a pleasant experience, if at all. Another review was correct - "not for the faint of heart". Unfortunately, I don't see why I would have to deal with rudeness if i was the customer, irregardless. Never again, we will take our business elsewhere.

This place looks nice but the customer service was awful. I visited with a friend for dinner and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The lady that served us was rude, rushed us with our order, aggressively and loudly placed our items down on the table, and made our dumplings in the microwave where four dumplings cost $9. She also yelled at her vegetable delivery guy on the phone halfway through our meal very loudly telling him she's going to kill him and that something was wrong with him because he was late with a delivery. Then she tried to make up for the awkward environment by making off handed jokes, which made me cringe. Food was okay not great, Pad Thai is only slightly spicy due to jalapenos that are added. I won't be coming here again, we were rushing to leave because the entire encounter was so awkward and uncomfortable.

Given the mixed reviews, I decided to FINALLY try Suzie’s. Unfortunately, I was completely underwhelmed. Mool Mandu had 2 good chicken dumplings and the rest were noodles that tasted like the plastic container. Unpalatable for $12. Eggplant Sautéed was a combination of salty and no salt. I had to trash the overly tangy eggplant along with the plastic soup. The only saving grace was the basic white rice.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to in my life. The owner was extremely rude. She was upset I wasn't hungry and wanted something light. I placed an order and she didn't have it so I picked something else. She said it takes too long to make so I was forced to pick something simple... Steamed dumplings. She proceeds to microwave and dump them into a bamboo steamer basket without even bothering to stand them upright. I've had better pre-made dumplings at home.

The owner/cook knows her job. We had delicious dumplings, great seafood noodles and excellent beef. We don’t know the names of the dishes because we asked the owner to cook what she thought was good and we were very happy with her choices. The dumplings were perfect. The soft doe outside wrapped a perfect pork filling complemented by the perfect amount of ginger to cut the pork’s sweetness. My ice noodles had the perfect bite and the fish sauce, mostly based on excellent mussels, had the perfect amount of spiciness. The beef was sweet with enough saltiness rom the soy sauce to make it peasant throughout. We ate everything and we appreciated the quality of the ingredients.

I'm sure a lot of people find Suzie's bluntness charming and endearing but it's really not. At one point while we were there, she told the mother of a girl who had a severe peanut allergy to "worry about something else" when she asked for clarification about whether peanut oil was used in the cooking. I asked for a side of sauce for my dish and was flat out told "no". As far as the food, we both ordered the udon. I was expecting it to be a soup but it was more of a stir fry (this part was my fault for not reading clearly enough) and was extremely salty to the point of almost being inedible. Also, we both got the same dish, but my noodles were closer to soba. imo if there wasn't any udon left I would've preferred she said something because then I could've ordered something else. Like someone else said, if you do go here, order to go.

*I'm not sure if the owner's name is Suzie, but I'm going to call her Ms. Suzie.* Food - Crab Dumplings: Delicious. They came out steaming hot and Ms. Suzie told us to be careful not to burn our mouths. When she came back to get the empty plate that my girlfriend and I cleared in record time, I told her that the perfectly crispy exterior and the tender, real crab filling was worth burning my taste buds off. Overall 10/10. - Spinach and Shiitake Noodles: Beautiful. The soba noodles were perfectly cooked. Firm, yet tender enough to fall apart in your mouth and they soaked up the sauce perfectly. The sauce generously filled the plate and was perfectly seasoned. The mushroom selection was impressive with shiitakes and baby bellas (iirc). The spinach is always a great compliment to mushrooms; Ms. Suzie knows what she's doing. Overall 10/10 - Shabu-Shabu Beef: Immaculate. Broth was rich but not overbearing, perfectly seasoned. The noodles were perfectly cooked and were a great choice for the broth. The beef feels and tastes like she's worked on perfecting this dish for years. When the fillings of the dish ran low, Ms. Suzie brought us out a small dish of rice to help finish off the broth like an angel. Overall 10/10 - Summary: All of the dishes were fresh, well thought out, delicious and well portioned. 10/10 Atmosphere - Decor: Cute, quaint, picturesque and personal. We sat in the courtyard alone and really got to take in the art and plants. - Service: Ms. Suzie's got tremendous service skills and a great personality: warm, welcoming, funny as h*ll. She's great at conversation, too. Ms. Suzie took the #1 spot for the most hospitable experience in a restaurant that I've had by a landslide.

We went for lunch and we're alone the owner waited on us and could not have been nicer. She even changed my entre to the teriyaki salmon which was marvelous. It was a very fine meal.

Always excellent. BYOB for alcohol. The ginger tea is the best.

This is one of those places that has "character". The owner (and so far as I saw, the only employee) will talk back to you a bit and the atmosphere is solid. The food was great (as long as you stick to Korean fare, my friend ordered the smoked salmon dish and, while he liked it, I was not impressed) and is within standard pricing for the area ($12-$15 per plate + drinks).

The service was brusk and sarcastic, which added unique notes to the already earthy and eclectic ambiance. The food was quick, and hit all the right notes of a noodle bar with the feeling of a full service restaurant. The food was very good as long as you stick to Japanese and Korean. They failed the flavor mix required for good Thai dishes, but that is what one should expect for ordering Pad Thai at a Soba shop. Overall, very good. Great casual date spot.

No puedo creer que sea tomado tantas años viviendo en Baltimore para comer de Suzie Soba. Bibimbap coreano me gusta y ella no decepciona. Los fideos son sabrosos y una persona de nuestro grupo tenía la mejillones y comimos cada último uno con entusiasmo! Volveré.

Really delicious food and a nice feel- The owner is funny, she can come across as harsh but I think she's nice and helpful.

Only thing you need to try is the tuna noodle dish! $25 for dinner but totally worth every bite of it! It is out of this world! Probably the best tasting Asian noodle dish I've ever had. I plan to bring my husband back. Fair warning tho, the Asian woman that work behind the counter/host is not very nice. She's got a very alpha attitude and quick/coarse responses. The male server was a real sweetheart, so maybe you can ask for him when you eat. It'll make the visit more enjoyable!! Bon appetit!

Suzie's Soba Noodles is a great place for lunch in Hampden. We recommend the bibimbap-- vegetables and fried egg over rice. Suzie has Korean and Japanese food. The place is whimsically decorated. Suzie has a sense of humor, be prepared for her comments. There is a outdoor garden which we didn't use (it was raining). I don't believe that Suzie has a website, so you'll have to come in and see for yourself the extent of her menu.

delicious light food with lots of fresh vegetables. there's unique decor in the dining room and on the patio but the ceiling in the women's restroom is especially pretty.

Had to get some takeout for dinner in a hurry. Their chap chae and pad Thai were quite good though the chicken in the pad Thai was a little tough. Portions were adequate without being humongous or too little. They squad it would take 20 minutes but it was done in half the time. Will definitely go back for a sit down meal.

Really delish sushi at an upscale venue. I find the decoration inside to be a bit put-on and as an event. Dark and moody. The place is also aggressively overpriced. The sushi is fresh, but as someone
