Pizza has always been consistently super

Ordered 2 pizzas online for takeout. The margarita pizza was great and so was the other one pepperoni and half red peppers. I ordered 45 minutes ahead of time with a scheduled time for pickup and it was done on time.

This was are go-2 place, but no longer. Portions are now smaller. We used to all ask for a "Take-home container" but no more.. Plus now instead of soup or salad included, they now charge for it, so nothing comes with your entree. Asked for more bread while we waited for our food, it took several times asking before more was placed on our table, and they used to place a fresh plate of oil and olives down as well, no more, so we had to use the old plate for dipping. Staff was quick with glases of tap water and coming back to refill glasses that were still practically still filled to the top.. One of our entrees, the chicken parm was burnt on the edges. Fried calamari used to be tender, light brown in color and crispy, now it's white/bland in color and breading fell off most of it when picked up with a fork.. And what was rediculious was watching a staff member pull in and park right up front near the entrance.. Btw.. don't respond with your sorry/ "that's not the norm" it sure is as I'm also reading the same comments from others.. Good luck going forward!!

The most welcoming restaurant I've been to in a long, long time.The food was excellent, and the portion size was very good. I decided to try it after driving by many times and seeing the parking always full, now I know why.

Let me start by saying I am a very picky person (as you can see from my other reviews), but i think I'm fair in my critique. This place is worth the visit. We came on a Friday night and while busy they were not packed. We were immediately greeted at the door and to me it felt like going to a family member's house. When we told him that this was our first visit he was genuinely interested in what made us stop by. The rest of the staff was equally friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. My boyfriend felt our waiter could've been a bit more attentive (versus the bussers spending the most time at our table.) The food was a little slow to come out but it was worth the wait. We both got chicken parmesean, and it was amazing. The portion sizes are enormous, the sauce was delicious. The chicken was crispy but tender enough to melt in my mouth. My pasta was a little overdone, but nothing I haven't done myself or would really complain about. All in all, we will absolutely be back for another visit. Maybe then I'll leave enough room for dessert. The chocolate lava cake sounded amazing.

If you’re looking to hold a party here look no further! Recently I held my daughter’s baptism party at Tambascios! Not only was the food great but the servers and bussers were even better! They were attentive and kind, Never said no to anyone’s needs and even connected with my family members. They never rushed us out and the restaurant was set up perfectly. Thank you to everyone at Tabascios Newtown who helped with Lennas baptism 🤍

Seated fast with no menus. After 20 minutes server comes goes oh sorry no menus. Drinks ordered never came .dinner came first. Had to ask about drinks.. eggplant hardly any sauce no flavor. Fried chicken breast like shoe leather. Clams and linguini awful worst ever. Other 2 meals 2 stars. Horrible for 119.00.

We love this place. This place ties with "my place" for best pizza in Newtown. Other entrees are also very good. Only knock on the place is the building itself. Could use a refresh. The good food and good people running it make up for any shortcomings.

It's been too long since we're been. We've realized that we've been missing exceptionally great food and nice servings at very reasonable prices. It's a cozy atmosphere with very good waitstaff. Making reservations through SEVENROOMS was very easy and being part of Five Star is a nice perk. Thank you again...we'll be back !!!

John and his team are the best. Great food and service. Have tried all the area places and his food is the best and its very affordable. Great takeout also. Support this place. They deserve the business.

My wife and I went for our first time and brought our three month old daughter. I believe it was the owner who came by and gave us a congratulatory bottle of Prosecco. He and the rest of the staff were incredibly nice and attentive, and the food was great with fantastic prices. Thank you to everyone at Tambascio’s!

Tambascio’s food and service is second to none. And seeing John, the owner, greeting and checking on guests makes you feel like family.

I have been going to Tambascio’s since they opened many moons ago. It is by far my favorite restaurant in town. It is welcoming, the food is consistently fantastic, prices are fair, and the staff is wonderful.

The food was well prepared and served hot. It was excellent. The service was horrendous. It took 20 minutes for the manager to assign a waitress to our table. She seemed familiar with the menu and took our order and then disappeared. We had to ask for bread we had to ask for water, and when my wife who had pizza ask for a box to take it home we were given a dirty box with toilet paper on the bottom and it obviously been used before. Bread was served without butter, we had to ask for butter. The waitress would’ve offered to do things, and then forget. It was probably the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in many years. I wish I had something positive to say about the service. We asked to speak to the owner and were told that he was not in and the manager could not call him. She asked for my name and my phone number which I provided but I have yet to hear from him. Unless and until this restaurant hires professional, wait staff, I would stay away. It’s not worth the aggravation.

The food is really good here and the service is wonderful too. They have a excellent menu and their prices are very reasonable too.

Great food, family owned, friendly service!

This is an outstanding Italian Restaurant in every respect. They take reservations and you should make them, especially on the weekend. Atmosphere is between Bistro and quaint. Nice separation between tables so that conversation doesn't overrun to neighboring tables. Staff is awesome, polite, attentive, and accurate. Food is authentic Italian. Ingredients are fresh, and the portions are sufficient so that if you don't leave with a doggy bag, you'll be stuffed. Parking is plentiful. This is a bit of a hidden gem, and may be a challenge to find, but worth the trip. Highly recommended.

Haven't been there in a while and I don't know why... Everything was damn perfect..ambiance, service, food,price..all perfect.. If I had to pick on something, no candle..that's it that's the big one...will be going back more often for sure..

It’s time for John Taffer to go visit. Chef Mike works there. Was totally baffled by this is a pizza place and the bread was microwaved (really if that was in the pizza oven then I’ll order another local concoction drink which was.. not good. Apparently the old people like this place.

Food had no taste, I ordered garlic bread with cheese, no garlic was added, just butter and cheese and basil. No flavor the pizza as well.

Warmly welcoming restaurant. Best pasta foagoli soup I ever had. Huge glass of wine. Delicious mushroom ravioli, yummy meatballs. Great in every way!

We enjoy coming to this restaurant since it’s very close to where we live. Their pizzas are really good and we especially love their Mushroom pies! The pasta dishes can be a bit heavy on the sauce, their service has been better during the week and quite slow on the weekends but due to the staffing shortage we do understand and don’t want to hold that against them, overall it’s a pleasant place to dine in.

Where do I start?! Well the food was great! I had NY Strip 14oz w Shrimp scampi and it was cooked perfectly. The green beans were a nice amount and the mashed potatoes flavorful and not too buttery so they tasted like actual potatoes! My mother-in-law got the sole Florentine and loved it. Only ate half as it's a huge portion. My wife got the Mediterranean salad and loved it. I quote "just was I needed!" Aside from the food the staff and owner are so welcoming and kind! They took our 6yr old back to make mini pizzas for all of us. She loved the experience and we are beyond grateful! We normally order takeout but so glad we made our way there. Such a fantastic place with great food and people!!

John and crew are always attentative to the tables and super helpful in picking out new and amazing dishes that the chefs create in the back. I am grateful to have known the Tambascio family for for decades. Wonderful Newtown folks :)

Absolutely amazing food, drinks were on point, and our server Rachel was TOP NOTCH. It was our first time there but we will definitely be back..can't say enough about the entire experience FABULOUS So we went back 2 weeks later same fantastic service from Rachel, food and drink absolutely 💯 we will become regulars

Finally got to sit down at TG and the experience overall was good. Had a nice spot in front tho voices carry there... started off w/the chicken parm arancini (a special). Our waitress was a bit scatter brained but also slightly overwhelmed handling a few tables at once. The app came out a lil slow but had nice presentation. The vodka sauce was the best part as overall it was a bit mild in flavor but still well executed. Our mains were rigatoni arianna and calamari w/a side ceasar salad. The ceasar and the sausage in the rigatoni were the best parts of everything as it all came across very mild. The calamari were large n tender but had no real overall flavor a lil seasoning to the batter or some lemon would be huge. The rigatoni was good overall tho the wilted arugula was a different feel n I would have preferred spinach. Overall all it wasn't bad but it wasn't out if this world

Tambascio's has a good menu with delicious entree's and the service is fantastic!

This is our go to place for pizza in the Bethel/Newtown area, consistently solid NY style pizza. Hard to find in the area, so glad they are here!!

Chicken came out uncooked. Service was terrible.

Good food. A bit expensive but the portions are huge. Their tomatoe sauce is very good. You will most likely take home a meal for the next day.

Good cocktails, inexpensive and uninteresting wine list. Doughy bread and tasteless dipping oil served at the start of the meal can be skipped. Pork osso buco was good, the chunks of tasteless, cool polenta it was served on was disappointing. Pasta was good but too soft for my tastes. Will try a rigatoni next time (it looked like it might be more al dente).

Cannot say enough good things about Tambascios. We’ve hosted so many family events and dinners here and the staff are always very welcoming and happy to assist. The food is amazing and a steal for the prices that they charge. If you’re looking for Italian in the area, this restaurant will always be my first recommendation.

Tambascio feels cozy and "local", yet their service and food is fabulous - the perfect combination! Ample parking is a bonus, not to mention the nice crowd one always finds inside enjoying themselves! The Penne Vodka is un-be-liev-ably good.

We've been loyal customers since we moved to town 6 years ago. Our favorite pizza in the area, plus they always have great specials. Their sauces are delicious, and the staff has always been super nice and friendly.

We had the veal parmigiana and veal sorrento with the tortellini soup. It was super and the bread was fresh! Delicious take out dinner!

We ordered take out calzones. They were delicious (and huge) as usual. They were also very accommodating about using our birthday rewards card.

This was my first time here and it was absolutely amazing. Clans casino , mozzarella Corolla, veal parmesan, were delicious. My friend had the fried calamari. He said it was delicious and I tried his chicken marsala it was delicious there is nothing wrong with anything it was all great food nice atmosphere I recommend this place to everybody

My wife and I have not had dinner out since pre-Covid because we are overly cautious. Tonight we had our first meal out, and indoors, and felt extremely comfortable and safe. Staff was super safe and polite, never mind the Steak Marsala was legit!! Parking seems to always be an issue for me at restaurants but here I did not even give it a thought, ample and spacious...Looking forward to the leftovers for lunch tomorrow...
