Hidden gem!!! We had Pho, combination fried rice and combination noodles. Everything was good and we flagged the place so we can return on our next visit to Austin. Service was great, food was out quick, the owner came to the table to make sure all was good. Highly recommended!

Best pho in Austin, hands down. This is a family ran business that has spent many years perfecting their craft. There is something really special about going time and time again to see the same people. They also have great service for a small restaurant! The staff has been there for years, and it's pretty cool seeing a Vietnamese family speak Spanish with their Latino employees. It goes to show how much they value each other, and that must be part of the special recipe :)

👎The owner is an elderly Vietnamese man who is in a very bad mood, and he also treats his employees very badly and personally I have a business and I do not support treating your work team badly. Also, my family and I used to go every Saturday, we left a very good tip and he came out to YELL at us, saying that we were not welcome, because maybe the man had a bad day and took it out on us, he doesn't like to treat people well. the owner is not polite at all, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place 👎 TERRIBLE service from the owner. I do not support them at all, whoever treats their clients and employees badly forgets that thanks to us former clients and their employees they have enough to eat. 👎 The owner is an elderly Vietnamese man who is in a very bad mood, and he also treats his employees very badly and personally I have a business and I do not support treating your work team badly. We are a vietnamese couple and were excited when we saw this restaurant on TikTok described as an authentic “hole in the wall” Vietnamese restaurant. Coming from the West Coast and Houston, we didn’t have high expectations for Vietnamese food in Austin to begin with, but our dishes were almost not even edible. The pho is probably the safest choice, however I’d strongly defer my friends and family to Pho Phong Luu. The vermicelli dishes were incredibly dry and flavorless. I don’t really understand how they have obtained such high google ratings, but if you are expecting real, authentic Vietnamese cuisine - I’d spend my money elsewhere.

They get to know their guests and know what I order and don’t even have to bring me a menu! Their pan fried noodle dish with spicy basil sauce is to die for! 55C

In search of a nice bowl of pho in Austin, I think I’ve found the one. Pho is the cure for everything and up until now I haven’t found a place in Austin that comforts me. Tan My is a no frills, Austin OG and I’m not sure why it took me so long to come. The broth is clean and flavorful. The brisket is a nice mix of fat and meat. The flank is super soft. The food comes out fast. And the price is just right. You have my loyalty. I’ll be back to try the Hu Tieu Bo Vien, a childhood favorite of mine. (Skip the egg rolls. The ones I make at home are better 🤪)

The BEST pho in Austin, I am not joking. This place has a schedule for the dinning room to be open, so make sure you get it right! The ingredients are all of great quality, but remember, the jalapenos are nuclear grade. The in house chillie oil is to die for. I like the #13 large with a iced Vietnamese coffee, but to each their own.

I label this as “Austin’s last local spots” not overly trendy or done up with fair prices and good food. Super typical Asian place with big menu and not overly bothersome waitstaff. Food comes out quick, huge portions, good prices. Solid and delicious food every time I come here. This isn’t a trendy aesthetic spot, it’s a clearly well loved local spot. I’ll continue coming here for this amazing pho.

Be aware! We are totally disappointed in their inconsistent of dine-in service. We came here twice, and both time being told that dine-in was not available. First time we came at 7pm on Sat and being told that dine-in is not open. Fine, we happily did take out. Second time, we came at 5:45 on Monday, being told the dine-in stops at 3pm, so we had to do take out again. It's annoying, inconsiderated and unprofessional. The food is ok, comparing to Dallas or Houston, but considered as above average comparing to other Viet places in Austin. Hopefully they take these feedback seriously and make some change. We have had enough so we won't come back.

Tan My holds a special place in my heart, as it's been our go-to Vietnamese restaurant since my husband and I were teenagers. Every visit feels like a journey back in time, filled with nostalgia and fantastic flavors. I always opt for the Number 58 – the Soft Egg Noodles dish – and it never disappoints. The combination of tender beef, succulent chicken, plump shrimp, and crisp broccoli atop a bed of perfectly cooked noodles is a culinary masterpiece. Each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes that leave me craving more. Meanwhile, my husband remains loyal to his favorite, the Number 22. I've lost count of how many times he's savored its flavors, and it's no wonder why. The depth of flavors in his dish always leaves him satisfied and eager for the next visit. The drive from Hutto is always worth it for the delightful experience Tan My offers. From the warm ambiance to the friendly staff and, of course, the delectable dishes, Tan My continues to exceed our expectations. It's not just a restaurant; it's a tradition, a place where memories are made and cravings are satisfied. If you're in the area, don't miss the opportunity to indulge in the culinary delights of Tan My – you won't regret it.

Nut allergy friendly! Review is for take-out. I ordered the pho tai nam and bun bo hue, both with extra noodles. We did not need the extra noodles at all - the portions were incredibly generous and perfectly filled my large pho bowls at home! They give plenty of beansprouts and vegetables too. Overall, maybe the best pho and bun bo hue I've had in Austin at this price point. Definitely top three. Flavorful broth, generous portions, and tender meat all contribute to a fantastic dish, even to go. Will definitely be back.

Been here many times and this time we ordered 2 pho tai and 1 other pho with rare round eye steak and brisket. The broth was great, brisket was tender and delicious. I just hope they could slice their round eye steak a little thinner so it doesn't turn chewy. Other than that, parking is a real problem, it took me 10 minutes to find a spot. One of the first Vietnamese restaurants I started going to when I first moved to Austin. They were always welcoming to me and my family, and just about everyone that comes through the door. You can tell from the interactions with most of their patrons that they are mostly regulars that come here. This place is excellent, the food quality is top notch and prices have gone up very little over the years. I always come for the Pho soup, but their hidden menu gem is the fried Pho #55C, the noodles and sauce are so good. Covid and lack of people to work make the restaurant hours a little funky but I'm just glad they are finally open again and the food and the owners make it well worth coming. Give it a try, I highly recommend this place. Especially now since covid is behind us, they've got normal operating hours. Since covids end, I've become a once a month regular and the food never disappoints.

Drove 25 minutes to meet a friend here and arrived at 7:45. There’s a sign on the door saying the dining room closes at 7 and takeout goes to 8:30. When I mentioned to an employee that Google Maps says they close at 8:30, he said “we tried to change it but we couldn’t,” which was kind of lame. There were still quite a few people in there and he wouldn’t let us eat in and seemed like he couldn’t have cared less. I guess Google Maps should have multiple types of hours to cover these types of scenarios, but I really didn’t like how the restaurant handled this and I doubt I’ll be back. We would have likely been in and out before their takeout closing time and we’d know for next time. … and honestly, who closes their dining room at 7pm anyway?

Best Asian restaurant in the Austin area hands down. I have been to this restaurant over a dozen times. If I lived closer, there is no doubt that I would go even more often. Growing up in Houston, I was spoiled with a plethora of Asian options throughout Chinatown. Despite Austin being severely lacking when it comes to Asian options, Tan My is up there with the best options in Houston. It's flat rice noodles stir-fried might actually be the best that I have ever had. You can really taste the wok in the dish. You would be really hard pressed to find a place that does it better. The fact that it remains open after decades is a testament to its quality and taste.

I love this place. I've come here for years. Through these years I have noticed that the owners and kids greet Americans & themselves with a smile and jokes. When a person of color or hispanic person comes in, it is very dry and different. They gracefully ask them what they would like and even recommend plates to them. When it's a non American, all they get is "what would you like" and after they ordered, they just walk away serious. A lot of us Hispanics have actually talked to each other while dining in the restaurant about the difference in customer service. The owners do not let the waiters keep their tips!!!! If they see a tip on the table they put it in their pocket!! Its 2023, I think it's time to let that type of customer service go. They make money off of us so why not treat us equal????

If you ask me which Vietnamese restaurant in Austin I would suggest, my next question would be, “for what dish specifically?” because if you’re wanting some bun bo hue then look no further because it was ON POINT here! Great flavor, portion-size, and value for what you pay. Paired this with some cha gio which was good as well. The com ga thit nuong? It was good! However, given how great the previous dish was, I desired more here primarily because I was hoping for more of a charcoal, grilled flavor from the meat and didn’t get that. Additionally, I would have liked the opportunity to order broken rice (com tam) instead of the regular white rice I got. That said, they have a huge menu to choose from, so I’d like to come back sometime and try some of the others!

The place, which holds about 50 people, was crowded with only two or three open tables open. As I looked around everyone was having Pho, including the Asian patrons. I ordered the egg roll, which just ok (I wouldn’t order again). I had the beef broth Pho with sliced ribeye. It was excellent and lived up to my expectations asked upon the reviews. As I looked around and the place was packed to capacity and only one person wasn’t having Pho. As I left at 12.30 pm there was a line out of the door. My Tan is a neighborhood gem in north Austin.

Ordered small pho with rare steak and tripe. Broth a bit on the saltier and greasier side, but still good flavor. Meat quality seems very good, and lots of meat was in the bowl. Noodles are good as well, but got soft towards the end. Pho comes with veggies and sauces are on the table. Portion size for small is good. Very busy at 12:45 on a Tuesday. All tables full. Tables were pretty clean, would come back!

Remember regulars, even if they have not been in for 5+ years. The Phu is AMAZING - so many choices and all made with love.

I went here with some of my friends last night and the food was absolutely delicious!! Very friendly staff they were on top of the refills and taking off any dirty plates. David is great! Very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Not only was the food great the portions were so big! All in all we had an awesome experience at this restaurant and will be coming back!!!
