The Market at Grelen is amazing! The staff and grounds will be perfect for your next event! We have been to the property multiple times for our catering services, and they have everything we need to ensure a smooth event. The gardens and flowers are so beautiful. My favorite part is the view and their fresh ice cream flavors! Highly recommend to book.

Grelen is an amazing hidden-gem of a venue! As a wedding photographer, it's always nice when a venue has unique options for couples for their wedding ceremony - especially in the event of rain! It truly is a stunning property. Their event staff is lovely and they have great list of highly recommended vendors!

Our experience as photographers at The Market at Grelen was phenomenal! We traveled in from out of state for our couple, and acclimating quickly to a new space was so easy at The Market thanks to the amazing staff. The team was on-site, and promptly helped us get set up and answered any questions. We even had a storm roll through and it was a breeze with the prepared attendants watching the weather. The imagery we were able to get in the space was stunning. We would gladly be vendors at The Market at Grelen any time!

The food was good and the grounds looked good but there is no indoor seating and there were dozens and dozens of bees everywhere. We had to eat lunch in the car with our kids to avoid them. Hopefully they can locate and move the nest.

I visited the downtown Orange location today and, as always, it was a great experience! The Grelen team is very friendly and helpful and they stock great merchandise for gift giving or a special treat for yourself.

When I tell you I’m obsessed with Grelen…that’s an understatement. I LOVE working there, creating magic and just soaking in its absolute beauty. The team at Grelen is THE best and they always make me feel like a VIP (even though I’m just a photographer!) you can’t beat the views and there are always GORGEOUS places for photos. The Grelen team will ensure you have the best day possible and you would be crazy not to book your event here!!

Very warm day yesterday and we had lunch in the covered area. Shopping is always great in the gift shop. Lots of cute things. We also bought an indoor plant for our neighbor that just lost his wife. This type of fern had ❤️shaped leaves. It was perfect.

I love going here! They have incredible customer service, such a beautiful atmosphere and I can always find a great gift or something pretty for my home.My favorite shop in the area!

After a hike my friends and I had lunch at the cafe'. Delicious food and beautiful surroundings. My friends went to pick peaches afterwards. This was just relaxed and wonderful outing with friends. I visit Grelen often and I use their landscaping services. There is no match there for it. Highly recommend the market and the nursery.

Met a friend here for lunch. I was in awe of the beauty as soon as I turned down the driveway. This place is gorgeous! They have everything here....Pick your own seasonal fruits. A greenhouse for some beautiful flowering plants and trees. A little shop with great products. A huge venue for weddings and receptions. Walking and hiking trails. But my favorite part was the cafe. I had the best ham salad sandwich ever here. They have several seating areas with plenty of shade. Of course don't forget to have a scoop of their homemade ice cream for dessert. Salted Honey Caramel was amazing! I can't wait to come back in the fall and walk the trails.

Such a friendly and helpful staff. The orchard picking was fun and easy, with a very organized system to weigh at the fields and then pay at the store after. The cafe has a large menu and everyone I was with had a delicious lunch. Fun beverages too! A great experience to grab some fresh peaches. I can’t wait to go back soon for some apples.

This is rapidly becoming one of our favorite spots. The view is spectacular from the orchards, to the nursery, to the meticulously manicured grounds! The staff is so helpful and gracious! The food is beyond excellent. If a staff member recommends a menu item- believe them!!! We are starting to return regularly and each visit exceeds our expectations!

My favorite place to go relax and photograph flowers. The food is great and so is the wine. The staff is really friendly and they have a wonderful selection in their gift shop. I dropped my debit card after I had eaten lunch and came back from walking the trails to find someone had turned it in. It's a beautiful place, go check it out!!

There is everything to love at my happy place. Gorgeous plants, fresh, delightful food and beverages, atmosphere and the natural beauty of the mountains and trails, and a wonderful boutique! My home and yard are filled with local treasures and my heart—full of memories each time we visit the Market at Grelen! 💕

Had our wedding on 6/22/2024, despite it being the hottest day imaginable the venue was still a dream come true. The sunset and moonrise cannot be competed with. The venue rental included tables and chairs which was huge help, and they even let you use some of the plants that are on site! Nichole is the absolute sweetest! My only wish is that I could go back and relive the day all over again

Such a fun relaxing girls day! Even in the heat whew! Delicious unique food with great assortment of wines to choose. We found a wonderfully shady spot among the beautiful patios and relaxed with laugher - don’t forget the delicious ice cream!. Found some adorable gifts and more than a few healthy plants (at reasonable prices too). Can’t wait to come back!

Our wedding was so dreamy at Grelen and it exceeded all my Italian garden wedding day dreams! Working with Morgan and her team was so seamless from inquiry to event. I can’t tell you how many people told me it was the best or most beautiful wedding they’d been to. I can’t wait to return for years to come on our anniversary and get lunch here. ❤️

We love Grelen! Such Relaxing spot that’s family friendly and educational for kids too as they see, hear, smell, touch different trees, plants, flowers, pollinators and fruits! Great food and drink options too.

An absolutely beautiful place for a wedding!

From the first time I visited Grelen almost a decade ago, I knew it was where I would get married. It has amazing views like many places in the area, but what really sets it apart for us is the range of options the property offers (greenhouse, clear tent, shade garden, etc)! The clear top tent was exactly the vibe we wanted for our 2023 mid-November disco-garden themed wedding (imagine how hard it was to get my parents on board with that idea initially haha). We had our ceremony in the half-moon garden, which is an intimate, neat space that truly feels like a dreamy fairy garden. Morgan and the Grelen team were absolutely amazing from the initial planning calls to being totally on board for us bringing in a light-up dance floor as the cherry on top of our disco/EDM style reception! If you want a fun, romantic wedding, with endless possibilites to dream and plan your little heart out, Grelen is the PERFECT venue for you! (Also - shoutout to our photographer Sidney Leigh, and our planner Jaclyn Grieger who worked seamlessly with Grelen for our big day!)

The Market at Grelen is amazing to say the least. I got married here a few weeks ago and everything was absolutely perfect. The staff at Grelen were professional and communicated well throughout the whole planning process. The wedding was run smoothly and it could not have been a better day. We absolutely love that it is a place we can visit over and over again and it's not just a wedding venue. We have been to the property multiple times for lunch and to hike the trails with our dog. Every time we've visited the food has been excellent, the plants and shop are well stocked and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The Market is a beautiful place to have lunch. However, I think the prices for what you get are very high. I ordered the grilled cheese and it was very very small and then I ordered an iced tea and it was so very weak with no refills - not worth the price at all and not tasty. I did buy some plants which are beautiful, but I would think twice before ordering lunch there again.

Beautiful add on to a visit to Montpelier

The owners are smart. It's a multipurpose facility, that I'm guessing started off as a plant nursery, evolved into a small shop for local goods and morphed into a sandwich and ice-cream space. In addition, they hold special events like wedding receptions too. The ice cream was excellent, and the sandwiches were very good. The plants are pretty pricy though.

This is a magical place! We always bring our out-of-town guest here, but we also like to come by ourselves like today. I never go home empty handed and most of my houseplants come from Grelen. Even their shop in Orange is a wonderful place. Kudos to you, Grelen! 😍

A nice place for a couples date or a field trip for younger students

Such a gorgeous location and FABULOUS food and drinks. The food is a bit more on the expensive side but that is reflected in the quality, and plants and flowers are very reasonably priced- it is absolutely worth the trip and we will be back!

I am absolutely obsessed with The Market at Grelen! There is an endless amount of possibility for photos on the property. The accommodations for the day from start to finish are always so on point and breathtaking. The bride & groom suites have everything you need and sit back in a private location that makes it convenient to take pictures before the ceremony. Their options for ceremony locations are all you could ever ask for to invite all your friends and family witness your union & photographer's dream. The best part is the views that overlook the nursery with the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains that are unmatched at golden hour. The Greenhouse Reception tent has the most beautiful light any time of day & the reflection of the lights above is truly so romantic. Everywhere you look on the property makes a great photograph. The staff is so friendly and just does the best job running the show. Every wedding I've had the opportunity to photograph there has just been top notch & has gone so smoothly! Definitely consider visiting this venue & booking your dream wedding at this spectacular location!

We had a great Mother's Day outing yesterday with great food and always gorgeous flowers and plants for sale there. I resisted filling up my SUV, but couldn't resist buying a beautiful blueberry bush and a deep red peony for my yard. We arrived early and did not have much of a wait for lunch, but many others experienced a long line to order. Suggest that you expand food preparation capacity and increase wait staff on special occasions. Looking forward to our next visit already!

We took our engagement photos as The Market at Grelen, and it was the perfect location. The team was incredibly accommodating and even let us bring our 3-year old Boxer to partake in the fun. The scenery was gorgeous and the vibe was everything we wanted it to be. I could not have imagined a better experience! ALSO, they provided the ice cream for our wedding at Boxwood Villa and every flavor was phenomenal. What an amazing team/group!!!

The Market at Grelen is a fabulous location for a wedding! We loved photographing Brian & Steven's wedding there with all of the amazing locations on site, sunset here with the incredible views has made it one of our top venues! The staff were all so friendly and helpful and we can't wait to photograph here again in the future!

We came for the tutorial on Helleborus. It was very well presented and informative. We stayed after for coffee because this is our “ happy Place@.

The cafe never lets us down. We went out for the first time this season and the food was delicious. Everything is so fresh. The vegetables with the dips were awesome. Soups, superb. The staff is always great.

Grelen Downtown is a wonderful place to shop for gifts. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

This is such a nice place. They had wonderful sandwiches and their home made ice cream is so incredible. There is a ton of seating and it's beautiful with the plants and garden accessories. There is some covered seating/tables with umbrellas if looking for shade or shelter if it's rainy. Great place to come with kids because of the ice cream and there is a sandbox, plus tons of space

Heather at the shop in orange is amazing! She called the nursery to get me info on trees for my Sunday tree hunt I got a call Sunday morning as promised Super customer service and attention to detail !!!! Thx a bunch

This lovely garden center was a pretty place to visit while we were staying at the Willow Grove Inn. There were lots of people visiting that afternoon, as the Christmas season was upon us. There was an abundance of of Christmas trees for sale, along with poinsettias and a picture taking opportunity with Santa. The gift shop was simply beautiful all decked out in Christmas finery. I purchased some wonderful ribbons to decorate my wreaths and packages with and would have had a bite to eat there if we hadn't just had lunch. We had a nice chat with one of the employees and she helped me choose the ribbons and made suggestions on things to do in the area. I snapped a picture of the living "Love" sign on our way out, and that was my thought exactly!

Fabulous place to shop, dine and hike. People and pet friendly. Christmas trees and greenery for sale. Patio dining with hot cider.

Ordered a tree to pickup, quick efficient customer service

It was a cold, rainy day but that didn't stop us! We had the best vegetable soup in the greenhouse, did some shopping and the rain subsided so we took our walk. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly, helpful and made our outing fun!

My now wife and I visited 8 different wedding venues, but a few minutes into the tour of Grelen, we knew this was the one. We got married on October 7, 2023 and we could not be happier with that decision. All the staff are so professional, reliable, flexible, and kind (special shout out to Morgan!). They worked well with all our vendors and the whole day went off without a hitch. The venue is spectacularly beautiful. We did our ceremony in the half moon garden, cocktail hour on the stone terrace, and reception under the orchard tent. They are super flexible on how you use the space and you can move some plants and flowers around to use for your wedding! There are also many, many good places for pictures. They made our dream wedding come true. If we could redo our wedding 100 times, we would still choose Grelen. We would 1000% recommend booking your wedding here!

Cool little diamond in the rough. Plenty of knick knack shopping and landscape items. Too many activities to list. Apple and peach picking when in season, ice cream and some coffee, beer and wine selection and pretty basic walking trails. Oh and the cafe had a simple but robust menu with options for kids and adults and somewhat eclectic options were also available . Seating was pretty much all outdoors so come prepared for whatever the weather ( hot or cold). And hard outdoor seats ( to be expected). Not super handicap accessible but not impossible. Recommend and would go back.

Such a charming place. I go a few times every year, at least once in the spring or summer, and also in the fall. It's a beautiful setting. We picked apples for the first time on my last trip. They were setting up for a wedding, and it looks like a great place to have a reception. The cafe food is very tasty, although there's limited selection and a bit expensive. But, we always plan to eat lunch there anyway. I love looking at all the plants for sale, outside and in the greenhouse. There are acres of trees to purchase or just hike through. There's a gift shop with pricey items, but the items are nice, and unique. I love to take friends here for an enjoyable outing.

2 stars for the view…but everything else was NOT worth the drive from Richmond. 😞 We waited in a long line to order and then waited a VERY long time for one salad and two sandwiches (nothing with anything actually cooked - just sliced cold cuts). $52 for 2 adults and a young child, no drinks or alcohol - just the food - and when we finally received the food (after inquiring about it three times), we almost immediately abandoned it all after being absolutely SWARMED by yellow jackets. There was a yellow jacket actually crawling into the sandwich. 🤢 Beautiful location, though. Just don’t plan to eat.

The staff went out of their way to take care of us. All were helpful and thoughtful.

Great customer service. I am very poor with technology. The staff was great about working with me to do a phone order vs a on line order. Apparently on the phone order is a rarity but I am old and easier for me. Will order again. Fun stuff on sale

My daughter's wedding took place at the Market at Grelen and everything was fantastic. What a beautiful location. The coordination of everything going on was perfect and the staff are a delight to work with, everything is really professional and well done. I highly recommend the Market at Grelen for weddings and other celebrations!

A wonderful little place to visit. We picked our own apples. The orchard is a little on the smaller side but it was still a lot of fun. They also have amazing ice cream and food.

What a beautiful place. I spent several hours here and enjoyed every bit of it. The drive out from RVA is easy for a day trip and beautiful on its own. The views around the property are gorgeous and the market itself has so many delightful little spots, I walked around it several loops before deciding where I ultimately wanted to sit. Lunch was delicious, and so was the flight of Virginia wines. Later in the afternoon I had a flight of homemade ice cream and some coffee, and enjoyed the cute and indulgent little shop full of fun things. I can imagine that weddings here are absolutely gorgeous, but I’d highly recommend this place for a get together or just a solo getaway like I had. The staff were all kind and attentive. Definitely will be going back!

It’s was a great concept. A little confusing as far as ordering and pick up. And for PYO, it was nearly 1.5mile walk. But overall I’d return.

The Market at Grelen is an incredible location for any wedding. I photographed a wedding here in July, and it was spectacular. From the lovely getting ready cottage (with separate bride and groom suites) to the orchard of peaches and apples (where I photographed the bride and groom portraits) and the gift shop that's surrounded by a plethora of beautiful plants, this is a great location to host your wedding and celebration!

Everyone we spoke with was so friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We had a lot of fun interacting with employees in the gift shop area. We LOVE picking our own peaches, blueberries, black berries, apples, etc. Going there for lunch is always a treat. Even in the off season, we also enjoy hiking the trails.

Heather at the downtown shop is just absolutely delightful. She is always so helpful and just fun to talk to! Great selection of gifts and decor!

This place was beautiful. I thought I was going to more of a market, but the "market" is an upscale store that sells bougie things that seem to be high quality. I would go there again if I had more time to explore the property, but I was in a hurry and looking for more of a local market to buy food....

Food was excellent. I had BLT. Had a scoop of banana and strawberry. Beautiful location. Service excellent, very friendly.

I absolutely love visiting the market! You are surrounded by nature, it is so serene. The views are wonderful. The cafe food is on point, I haven’t had food that didn’t like. I have tried most of their sandwich options and I get the garden salad every time. I could straight up drink the honey balsamic dressing that they use. Everyone that works here is friendly and helpful. I have a lovely experience at each visit!!

Super cool, fun place to spend the day. Lovely atmosphere, great experience picking peaches, plums and black raspberries. Everything there is pricey (plants, gift shop and cafe), but it's to be expected, just be prepared. Our ONLY complaint and it's a biggie, is that we ordered potato salad and did not know it had meat in it until we ate some and thought it tasted off. We realized what we were tasting was bacon or ham. As vegetarians, we were shocked to see a potato salad made with meat (and I'm from the South), and would love to see an adjustment made to the menu that notes this, as gluten free items were noted as such. (This is only the second time in twenty years I've accidentally eaten meat and it was pretty upsetting, especially after we brought it to the waiter's attention and his response was, "you're 100% vegetarian," as if we were lying, or that he didn't understand what being a vegetarian means. Do better, please please!) Update: The Market at Grelen reached out to me promptly and apologized for the problem. They said the chef had altered their usual potato salad for Fathers Day to include bacon. They continued to serve it as it was well received, but they did not update the menu. They have now updated it and the chef even created a vegan offering the next day. Very impressed with their customer service!

What a beautiful nursery and garden shop! There's also another shop in downtown Orange. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
