Being in a remote location can be a disadvantage, or an adventage! The Prairie Club turns it's remote location into a huge advantage. Beautiful geography in the Sandhills create the canvas for two extraordinary golf courses, the lodging options and food services are complimented by extraordinary down

Golf The range and putting areas were very nice. As far as the courses go, I thought the Pines course was excellent but the Dunes fell short for me. The Pines was scenic, playable, and challenging at the same time. The Dunes greens and chipping areas did not play well and depending on skill level, I could see the course playing very long for some people. Sand Hills, Dismal, Landmand and Wild Horse are similar style courses that are better than the Dunes in my opinion. More importantly, the pace of play was disappointing and was a damper on our experience. We played four rounds over two days and waited 5-10 minutes on most shots during three of the four rounds. I would expect that at a packed local public course, but not at a place like Prairie Club. Accommodations We stayed in the lodge and the lodge was well kept and had nice accommodations. Another negative however was there was there was not hot water in the mornings which was disappointing. Food The food at the turn houses and dinner was good. There were plenty of options and it all good was cooked well and tasted good. Breakfast was pretty standard fare that you'd get at most hotels, nothing fancy, but did the job. General Service We found the service good. Employees were helpful, friendly, and responsive.

My experience at the prairie club was exceptional. My dad took my son and I here for his graduation present and it was a memory we will all cherish forever. The course was in exceptional condition and a fun challenge. The lodging at the club was excellent and the food was delicious. This is a place where everyone is friendly. The staff is great about making the stay wonderful. Always asking how the accommodations are at the lodge. What struck me the most was how the club employees and management(Mandi) knew the club members personally. They knew about the golf members families and asked how they were doing. They also shared with the club members how their own families were doing. The manager of the pro shop knew the members by first name when they walked in. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor, go to the prairie club and build great memories with your friends and families. The golf is amazing and your interactions with the club and staff will leave you with memories of a lifetime just as it did for my son and I.

I played two courses while visiting Nebraska, the Dunes course being the one for which I was most excited to play. As a single, I made a tee time well in advance and couldn't imagine that I wouldn't be match me up with someone else. I only found out that I was scheduled to play by myself the day before when I called to ask if they had any groups with less than four that were teeing off earlier. The representative I spoke with, while friendly, told me that, in fact, they did, but they would not match me up with anyone ordinarily because of the price that was being asked. So, while naturally assuming it would be a long day, it was longer. Pace of play was very slow, and its no wonder due to the fact that so many of the holes were gimmicky, making far too many holes a guessing game. I far more enjoyed the Wild Horse in Gothenburg who, with me being a single, matched me up with three other people. The course was in much better condition, had faster greens, and the play was more reasonable. Not to mention that it is one quarter the price.

Fantastic, unique golfing experience. The two courses (Pines and Dunes) are very different and incredible in their own way. This is a must stop for any golfer that is playing in Nebraska, with supremely friendly and helpful staff, great food and top tier accommodations. If you like links courses the Dunes offers panoramic open sand hills spaces with challenges for all levels from the different tees, allowing for correctly corresponding yardages yet still having enough blowouts and waste area hazards that it is never a give me par. The Pines is beautifully carved around the river canyon with majestic pines and some pinched fairways that are still accessible. Both courses have wonderfully manicured and undulating greens that will impress.

Interested in a true golf getaway? This is the place to play. The Prairie Club is unbelievable. Two great courses, the Dunes and the Pines, along with a 9 hole short course with no routing, you make up the holes as you go. It's a great way to settle anything that wasn't settled on the course. All of the food we had was excellent. Lunch or dinner, they have you covered. I personally recommend the filet, but to each their own. Sitting around the firepit at night sipping your favorite beverage, while reliving the shots you made and ones you didn't is a great way to round out each day. Do yourself a favor and plan a trip to the Prairie Club!

From the very beginning to the very end, you will receive the service and accommodations you would expect from a top tier resort and will be treated like a VIP for the duration of your stay. When you arrive, they will have staff collect your luggage and load your golf bag on a cart. Valet will park your car and in just minutes after arrival you can be on one of two driving ranges preparing for your rounds. We golfed 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day. The course was in great shape and the views were amazing. The courses were difficult, but very enjoyable even for the average golfer. The course layout does a nice job of placing the tee boxes to increase or decrease the level of difficulty so that golfers of different calibers can be challenged, but still enjoy the course. The courses had halfway houses on each course to refuel on food and beverages. The carts come equipped with GPS, which was helpful to know yardages to any of the hundreds of bunkers you didn’t want to hit into. At the end of the day, we simply dropped our cart off and the golf staff wiped off our clubs, cleaned the cart, and refreshed the cooler with waters and ice so we would be ready for the next morning. The lodge has a few different dining areas and all the food is delicious. After dinner, enjoy a cigar on one of the many patios or a drink at the bar. The property offers many different types of rooms. I stayed in the lodge with a friend, but each of us had our own room and shared a bathroom between the two rooms. The rooms were small, but the bed and sheets were perfect after a long day on the course. Truly, I did not spend much time in the room, so it was everything I needed. Some of our group stayed in the bunkhouse rooms, which were much larger and had a nice patio area to take in the scenery. On our second day we packed up and left our suitcases in the room for staff to keep them in storage while we finished our round. By the time we got done with golf, our cars were waiting for us by the lodge and we loaded our luggage and golf bags, and we were off. Overall, it was a 5 star experience with great staff. If you want to spend a trip where all you have to worry about is what to order on the menu, this is the place for you.

Two lovely golf courses, but their set up with a windy milieu, high speeds and heavy contours is a recipe for slow play. I stayed in the bunkhouse which was adequate and its detached character was a plus, but I had to change my first room because it reeked of smoke. There is another larger ritzier building of the same concept. Staff is great

Hands down best golfing experience of my life. The course was challenging and kept up beautifully. A midway house can keep you going with snacks and drinks on either side of the 36 hole facility. The pines or dunes experience will keep you mesmerized by either a rolling hills background or rock and tree scape that makes you feel like your deep in the Colorado Rockies. Pro staff and restaurant staff are all extremely pleasant, helpful and professional. The rooms were rich in color and quality. I can’t wait to go back some time soon.

A friend and I were looking for a place we could travel equal distances to meet up for several days of golfing. I drove west and he drove east and Valentine NE looked to be near the center and the reviews looked very good. We played 36 holes on the Dunes on the first day and 18 on the Pines the second day and we both agreed these were probably the most scenic and well maintained courses we had ever played. My GPS showed we traveled about 13 miles in the cart for 18 holes and I believe it since the distance from green to the next tee was quite long. I would definitely recommend both of these courses and I'm sure you will be taking your own photos.

The Dunes course is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The service was lacking. We scheduled a tee time and showed up early to warm up. We were left standing around with no golf cart and no explanation for nearly 45 minutes. I finally asked if I could get to the practice range and they told me I was welcome to walk out there. The putting green is nearly a half mile from the clubhouse. They finally tried to bring us a very old gas cart that looked like it was around during the Carter administration. Normally this would be ok but after paying $240 that included a $30 cart fee we expected to get a more up to date mode of transportation with the advertised GPS system. They finally produced a golf cart. The service was a shame because the course is amazing.

Amazing courses, the "Pure as golf gets" motto is a great summary for the facility as a whole. A focus of cutting out distractions from the game is refreshing compared to typical premium courses. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The courses were in great condition in early Aug with temps around 100°F. The courses highlight the unique natural features of this area brilliantly which keeps people coming back from all around the country. The courses are designed with lots of tiered greens, a hallmark of premier courses, which makes the rounds challenging yet fulfilling.

I give the courses 5 stars for scenic views but prob 2 stars for ease and pace of play they had pin placements in ridiculous positions and the pace of play was bad. So both days played behind older guys first day was a 5 some thst became a 7 some. Second day just played as slow. When course is that tough and people playing wrong tees gonna be a long day. They should just charge per round than a $200 all day. Need a ranger out there. Would I drive 5 hours again from Omaha to play maybe if was with a member. Louden in Pro Shop prob one of best guys Ive dealt with at a course. Oh one last thing pave the darn road going to the course from the highway.

When they say pure golf, they truly mean it. You don’t go to The Prairie Club to golf and relax by the pool (there is no pool) or to golf one day and the next take a guided tour through the sand hills by horseback (there were no guided tours or horse back riding opportunities). You go to The Prairie Club to golf. That’s it. Probably not the best destination for a family trip with young kids, but for a pure golf retreat, you would be hard pressed to find a better location. A must for the golfing enthusiast.

Just got back from a guys trip there from Denver. A 6+ hour drive. From the moment we arrived the service was spot on. A staff member greeted us at the front entrance and promptly removed our luggage and golf bags. Check in was a breeze. We grabbed our wedges and putters and played the par 3 horse course which was a blast. When we returned, our luggage was in the rooms. Our rooms in the lodge were single rooms connected by a jack and jill bathroom. Clean and comfortable. Dinner was excellent and my Nebraska ribeye was cooked to perfection. Excellent char with great seasoning. Wedge salad and baked potato included. Day 2 started off with included breakfast buffet of eggs, bacon etc. Then off to the Pines Course. The layout and scenery is phenomenal and descriptions and pictures will never describe being there. Fair but challenging golf course. Wind swept Nebraska hills can be challenging and a benefit depending on hole direction. Played another 18 at the Pines course in the afternoon. Fun replaying the same holes to try to improve on the morning mishits. Day 3 we played the Dunes course. Again another fantastic course. Deep bunkers and tall grass fescue. Both courses have excellent greens with huge undulations. Some people dont like that but they were very true and held the line well. They told us to pack our bags before our last round and leave in rooms. The staff collected the bags as we were playing and brought them to our cars when we finished. Locker room available for a shower afterwards before heading home. Great memories, challenging golf, great food, perfect professional and friendly but not snobby service by all staff and beautiful surroundings. Looking forward to returning.

This whole atmosphere is something you've never experienced before. The way golf was meant to be. The whole staff has service 2nd to none and I can't wait to go back!

Have played and stayed here 5 times. Not to be missed. The courses are a must for any avid golfer. The lodge, restaurant, and bar are as good as they come. Service and accommodations are impeccable. One word of caution. This is North Central Nebraska. The weather can be unpredictable in the early and late season. Was caught off guard by snow the 3rd week of May this year. Unseasonable, but not unheard of.

Definitely a "Bucket List" experience. Three courses with a fantastic variety of play and the most natural landscape for golf anywhere. Beautifully isolated, cant see a house or hi-way from virtually anywhere on the course. In most cases you cant even see the other holes. The only sound on the course other than the wind is the occasional high flying airplane. Food and lodging really good, especially liked the breakfast buffet included with room. If you love golf you will love this place. Get your group together and go!

Food was very good. Vegetarian pizza, no olives no problem 👍. You have to appreciate a place that vents your takeout container of fries so they stay crispy...I appreciate that attention to detail...
