Great place for breakfast or lunch

Outstanding and reliable neighborhood restaurant. Never had a bad meal there, and the service is 100% excellent.

The food is excellent, great service, and a good selection of beer. I just wish they were open more.

The best food around, Sarah and Chris have the best spot in Colorado. We love the drinks too, but the pastries are so good. We drive from Louisiana just for that stuff. The homemade blueberry is the best ever. Will always go out my way to hit this spot!!

Sarah and her hubby have an amazing little place. The food and drink is excellent. The pastries and homemade jam or so yummy. The blueberry jam is my favorite I by 10 at a time and bring them back to Louisiana. We come back every summer to Colorado have to hit this favorite spot!!!

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with joy and kindness. The staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive. The food was delicious, and the highlight was the freshly baked fruit-filled empanadas served with ice cream—absolutely delightful! We loved our experience at the restaurant. They also have a charming gift shop with beautiful handmade crafts, souvenirs, and gifts. Highly recommended.

The brisket sandwich is a must! I've driven past this place so many times and never stopped until this time. Definitely will be coming back!

We are visiting from Texas. The staff was so friendly, and the food was amazing!! We wanted to come back again before leaving but didn't have time.

Classic breakfast was very good with a generous scoop of Carnitas as my protein, no extra charge for two small pieces of gluten-free bread, and homemade jam with real butter. Smothered burrito was good. The apple pie pocket- have had better. White chocolate peach scone-pretty good. Ambience is very cute, service very good.

What an amazing restaurant. Everything from the food to the service. We ate there 2 times on our trip through Colorado and ordered the Little Nicky. It's a burger with the brisket on top...... so good. Best of both worlds. Love this place and will be there again the next time we are in Colorado.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm, friendly service that made us feel right at home. The laid-back atmosphere was the perfect complement to the incredible food that followed. We shared the biscuits and gravy to start, and it was a delicious beginning to what turned out to be a fantastic meal. The smothered burrito, pancakes, and huevos rancheros were all prepared to perfection, bursting with flavor in every bite. The brisket, carnitas, and chorizo were standouts—each cooked to perfection. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and make The Shaggy Sheep your go-to spot for breakfast. This place is an absolute gem, and we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended!

Fantastic place, cozy vibe, and better food. It was limited to 4 menus items but they master those 4 menus items to a tee!

I'd say it's a hidden gem but you can't miss it with the big converted Airstream in the back. A gem nonetheless and my favorite post hike sit down spot. The food is delicious and the staff are just the most pleasant group of people around.

Such an amazing find! We had biscuits and gravy (homemade jalapeño and cheese biscuits, mimosas and the breakfast burrito. Both were incredibly flavorful, with the perfect amount of heat. Our host, Mel, and all of the staff are warm, friendly and helpful.

Small town dining at its finest. I chose the hummingbird window and had a blast watching them while eating an amazing smothered burrito for breakfast before a big hike. Highly recommend.

This place was absolutely delicious! Stopped off here with the family after a weekend of camp and on the way home broke up the drive coming down. 285. Would absolutely stop here again without even a second thought. Love the atmosphere, mountain vibe. Old school staff was amazing, just overall a great place to eat.

If you are driving through Grant, you have to eat here. This is a family run business and the food is always great. Pastries are a temptation. I can't give this place enough stars!

We've been coming to the Shaggy Sheep occasionally for many years. It's grown into a very nice restaurant with a bar on the side, a small gift shop with baked goods and jam to go. Cozy dining area, friendly and efficient service, delicious breakfast. A real gem on highway 285.

A gem of a restaurant on Hwy 285 which is one of the prettiest drives in the state. The food is homemade deliciousness and the staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive. I've been here several times and will keep going back as long as they're around. Support them so they can stay around!

i stop here on my way to webster pass often and the food is always incredible. the staff is exceptional. im not sure about the bad reviews, ive never not enjoyed this place. stop by and try a blueberry pie for me.

Went here on Father's Day with my mom and step dad. I had heard alot of good things about this place but I experienced somthing way different.. we waited almost an hour and a half to get a seat first then got a menu with only 4 options to choose.. then I got the tacos witch were way below average and no salsas.. for the price this place gets an fail from me. I will not return...

Me and my family can't get enough of this place! Don't forget to try a side of shaggy sauce with your French fries! With Wendys being being a similar price of our family of 4, skip the fast food and get you homemade meal here!

If Hostess made pies like the Shaggy Sheeps hand pies, they would have dominated the pie world! Apple hand pies are delish!

Been a patron for many years. Will never return after the way we were treated on Father’s Day by “Mom”. We are not tourist. We are the locals that keep your doors open. I would try Cut Throat Cafe instead. They appreciate their customers instead of treating them like they are an inconvenience.

Even though we live in the city, the staff treated us as one of their own. Really enjoyed being able to stop by this restaurant and had a great breakfast.

Finally! I've driven by the Shaggy Sheep for years and my timing was off as it was either not meal time for me or they were closed. Well, today they were open and we were hungry. Three of us stopped in 30 minutes before closing and we were welcomed in with "Perfect timing, we just cleaned a table for you!". The staff was friendly and fun and seemed to truly enjoy being at work and taking care of their customers. The beers we ordered arrived quickly, followed shortly by our meals. We had all ordered the brisket sandwich & hand cut fries which were all delicious. We followed that up with a cookie a la mode which was a nice treat. My expectations were high as I had heard from many folks that this was a great place to eat. Reality was even better, I can't wait to go back for more.

Great little spot. Food was good and reasonably priced given the location. The menu is small, but everything on it is good. Servers have always been friendly and attentive. If your pet is with you, you can get drinks and some food from the silver Airstream outside. There is plenty of shade for humans and pets, with multiple picnic tables available.

We had a the most wonderful experience at Shaggy Sheep. The customer service was exceptional, they were able to accommodate our timely requests. Everything was very clean and the atmosphere was inviting. Their made from scratch green chili has the perfect amount of spice. We will definitely be stopping by again on our way out of Denver, it's so convenient!

Got stuck in 285 closure of Kenosha Pass and backtracked to the Shaggy Sheep to have breakfast and wait it out. Food and service were awesome. Thank you for saving Mothers Day for me.

Best food on 285 between Denver and Fairplay.

My kids and I ate dinner here last week and it was SO VERY GOOD. Warm, cozy atmosphere; friendly, kind service; small, specialized menu. I had the braised beef: so tender and yummy! My son had the chicken pot pie: homemade puff pastry! My son has been craving it every day since. My daughter had a burger: she ate the whole thing. For the sides, we had hand cut fries, which were excellent; golden mashed potatoes, super yummy; and mixed green salad, which has a hearty mix of greens. The prices were surprisingly affordable. They have homemade lemonade, local pastries, great beer on tap and in bottle. They actually have a Porter, and I can hardly find Porters on draft anymore. Beth was our waitress. She was so nice and made us feel very welcome. In the winter they are open for dinner only. In the summer, they are open for breakfast and lunch. This change happens on May 8th. I'm told the braised beef is still available on the lunch menu. They also have hand-knitted hats and other local art and items for sale. We can't wait to eat here again! They have a kids menu, you just have to ask.

We really enjoy visiting the Shaggy Sheep. Their bespoke creations are nothing short of delicious and this is consistent. We also can't resist taking some of their fresh pastries home with us when we stop by for dinner. I recently tried the most interesting take on lasagna that I've ever seen and did not disappoint. Whatever you do, don't skip out on their hand-cut french fries. Those are the bomb.

Service was quick and friendly and food was excellent. Very small town and we appreciated that food was so fresh that they limit how many of each special dish they plan so nothing is wasted. I had the braised short rib , had absolutely great flavor and my husband had the fresh catch of the day - red snapper.

Great stop especially when coming back from hiking in the mountains. The menu is a bit limited but everything we've tried has been great. They also have homemade hand pies that you shouldn't miss and a great selection of teas. The prices are high for what you get but given there aren't many restaurants in the area it's understandable.

This restaurant was great from head to foot. The servers were very nice and helpful with suggestions and the food was simply amazing. The restaurant itself is really cute too. If you get a chance you should pop by and check it out.

Such a cozy spot! I had the crab cakes (catch of the day) that came with a fresh spring mix and the side of butternut squash risotto and my friend had a burger with fries. We had the arancini as an appetizer and banana pudding for dessert. All of it was absolutely delicious!! We’ll be back tomorrow!

Good atmosphere, but for what you get, it is extremely overpriced! Everything is served on hamburger buns. The chicken was a bit chewey. The brisket was fatty, and barely 3 ounces for $17! The gree chili soup was tasty. The coffee was $4.00. We had 2 coffees with one refil. We were charged $16.00. We objected, and they took $8.00 off. Still, it was pricy at $4.00 per cup!

Love this place. In summer open for bfast and lunch. Winter is lunch and dinner... Check ahead if your driving thru as it's worth the stop. My wife has the carnitas hash and I the green chili baked avacado w eggs. Both fantastic. The calabacitas is also amazing as is the biscuits and baked goods... .

I'm reluctant to tell people how amazing this place is. Hehe. The food is delicious. As soon as the food arrived, I called for table silence because I knew it was about to get serious. And get the homemade dessert for sure! Good luck choosing just one though. The service is wonderful. The hostess is absolutely the sweetest.

A charming getaway on our way to enjoy a mountain lake. While unassuming from the outside, this place had an excellent waitstaff and wonderful food at incredibly reasonable prices. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy which was a unique treat with jalapeno cheddar biscuits. I added side of the most delicious potatoes I could have ever imagined. I also had the opportunity to taste the carnitas off of a friend's plate and they are tender and moist, and packed with flavor. I almost want to drive up again just to see what lunch has to offer. I highly recommend and encourage you to try all of the cookies and other pastries on your way out!

Having driven past this restaurant for years we made plans to stop here on a weekend drive down 285. My expectations were low considering the location and it being the only restaurant for miles around. We tried the brisket sandwich and the ribs, both were really fantastic. High quality of service and a great beer menu. Huge accolades to the owners for making something so fantastic and a great place to stop on a beautiful mountain drive. Will certainly be back again.

This is a great stop while you're traveling through Colorado! They have very moist scones and their service is impeccable. Not to mention the atmosphere is very clean and homey. Definitely recommend!
