Ate here for my bachelorette trip, and I’ve never had sushi as good as what I had tonight! This sushi was one if the best meals I’ve ever eaten! Will 100% be back!!! Pictured: Whale of a Roll and Japanese Bagel Roll

Sushi was good but nothing to write home about. Tried about 6 different rolls and all were just kind of meh. Nothing was terrible but nothing was crazy delicious. There isn't a ton of variety most the rolls are just combinations of 3 or 4 different things. Basically only salmon or tuna for raw fish, and most the rolls has either shrimp tempora or imitation crab as a filling. Again not bad but if you sre more into traditional Japanese sushi and like raw stuff this place may not be the best for you. That being said they are one of few sushi places in the area and I think they are the best out of all of them. So if you want sushi your stuck with them!

First time going there last week and can’t wait to go back. We stayed in FWB and The Slippery Mermaid was well worth the drive!

Really good sushi. I got the Whale of a roll and Chef Special. Super delicious, would absolutely recommend to anyone. Lots of variety, even for those who don’t do Raw. Friendly Gluten free menu too which is a plus! Everything tasted fresh!

update::::::::: we took another chance with this place and we're delighted to say it was a MUCH better experience. The sushi was awesome. I personally loved my roll but My mom said her yellow fin tuna wasn't "sashimi grade" due to all the tendon like pieces. HOWEVER, it was a much better experience than the first time. and Brittany made sure we were having a good time 😍 I'll bring the kids back to see what they say 🙏 as I was leaving I ran into one of the owners who said they reviewed the footage from the original post and corrected said behavior. I believe her because it was outstanding service this time. Original, outdated post: Wanted to try this with the kids. We waited 30 minutes at our table not to be greeted. Two servers danced around us asking people how their food was and refilling waters. I completely understand being short staffed but a simple “hey, I’ll be right with you” would have went a long way. We are across the street at Samurai Sushi and were greeted before we all sat down. The prices are cheaper over here. The kids are chowing down on edamame as I type. Might try slippery mermaid again and update but so far no thanks. We spoke to the couple behind us from Louisiana and they said they loved their meal.

The Sushi is the best I have ever had! If in the area, go. You won’t be disappointed.

Honestly this is a fantastic sushi place. I was very impressed with the size and quality of the rolls. It’s quaint but that fits the vibe. The menu was easy to read and honestly totally reasonable with the prices, especially for what you get! It’s a must-visit if you’re in Navarre and they’re open.

This place is a bit underrated for the area. Should probably be closer to 5 stars for the quality of food, service and atmosphere. In addition to the cool vibe and good music, their service was great. The sushi is very fresh and flavorful. Which is something a lot of the restaurants around here seem to lack for some reason. Prices on point with what you'd pay at most sushi spots. We really enjoyed the "hot mermaid". Would've been here everyday for lunch if we would've stumbled upon it sooner during our stay. Our sushi was fantastic! The portion sizes for rolls were bigger than I anticipated. I didn't love having to do the QR code menu but I'll survive lol. I forgot to get a cocktail because it was on a separate online menu. It was busy so our service wasn't super attentive but it was easy to flag him down. Overall I would definitely go back!

The food was great, especially the Avocado Roll and Green Mermaid Roll. The Hot Mermaid was also yummy, though not very hot. They were knowledgeable about dietary restrictions and even had gluten free soy sauce! Our server was great too! Best food we had eating out in Navarre!

Great sushi, cute atmosphere, and can usually get in faster than the wait they say. It’s a must every time I’m in the area.

One of that gauges I go by with a sushi place is how they prepare their eel. The eel nigiri here was warm, tender, and almost buttery. It was fantastic. Their spicy tuna roll is the first one i have had out of many that had some real kick to it, which was a very pleasant surprise. The Mermaid Tails app was heavenly and delightful, a definite must!

Cute little place with nice staff, bright decorations and delicious, fresh sushi. Ate here twice on a four day trip, no regrets! Small, shaded deck seating in back, bar and tables. It's popular during prime times so plan ahead for a longer wait.

On vacation from Ohio- I have to say- This was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. I got the hot mermaid add jalapeño and a California. Husband got the tiger roll and shrimp tempura. Also got seaweed salad and iced green tea. Highly recommend!

Sat and waited for 25- 30 minutes. Completely ignored. Left once others that were seated after us got waited on within 5 minutes. First time there, and we will never come back.

The food was absolutely delicious. I shared 3 rolls with my husband. We aren't really raw fish eaters so can't recommend any of those, but all our cooked rolls were sooo good. I was nervous because I don't even like avocado, but I couldn't even tell it was in here. We both agreed the Tropical Mermaid was the best (far left). I liked Shrimp Tempura 2nd best (middle). Then Land and Sea 3rd for me (far right). We ate every bit of it within 10 minutes lol, didn't even need soy sauce. Not badly priced either- $42 for rolls and 1 soft drink. Cute little building, very clean.

Inside and outside seating was nice for the options. The sushi was very creative and fresh. I liked the tuna (new wave) sashimi, we also had the summertime and the crazy mermaid rolls. I am not a big fan of large rolls like they had and there weren't any standard rolls on the menu. Although I guess they would have made them? Too many rolls with cream cheese, which limited our choices. If you are in Navarre and want sushi, come to the Slippery Mermaid.

Visiting out of town. Super friendly and attentive young staff. Sushi was delicious, super fresh and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I let the chef do his thing and ordered chefs roll. It did not disappoint. Amazing. Will come again.

Busy place, but it's food is legit. The Angry Pirate is a must try if you go. The rest of the menu is very good as well. Drink selection is fine, but it's not a place you go to drink.

The atomsphere is nice and bright beach vive, they have a bar area, small but they have cute divider from seating. Food is phenomenal, worth the money!

I love sushi and my dad was sushi chef so growing up I had pleasure of eating many sushi. We had ordered 4 rolls. Big portion of fish in every bite and was well worth the money. The chef looked so young and had some jagged cuts of sashimi but it was buttery. Overall would go back next time we visit!

To the person who scolded our waitress for our New Wave Sashimi order that's too difficult to make, you're the problem... Yah! We heard you. Btw, there's no soap in the bathroom, kinda sketchy since an employee was in there ahead of me. Narrow menu options, but what they make is tasty, a little pricier than what we pay for comparable food else where.

We were planning a trip to Destin and I thought what better place to finally go to a sushi restaurant? My only exposure to sushi was trying a tidbit at a Chinese buffet or someone forcing me to try a bite of their grocery store sushi. I read a bunch of reviews online and decided on this place. Had to wait about 10 min for a seat. Was glad they had things labeled cooked and uncooked but knew I was going to get the Psycho Mermaid since ut was mentioned so frequently in reviews. I found out that I love sushi!! It was so good and going to The Slippery Mermaid ended up being a highlight of my vacation. Everyone else at my table lived theirs as well. I'm going to start going to sushi restaurants now. Idk if I will find one as good as this place in Cleveland but I'm gonna try!

We actually ordered sushi for pick up! We got it and went back to our condo, the sushi was still excellent after being in a to-go container! I got the tropical mermaid and the edamame.

I usually do a pickup order but the restaurant, especially outside, is really cute and close to the water. The hosts are so attentive and thoughtful and that’s the icing on the cake for how good their sushi is - truly the best and the freshest I’ve had!!

I recently visited this awesome restaurant in Navarre. What a great atmosphere and some of the best Sushi I have ever had. I had the Spicy Mermaid and the Tiger Roll! I recommend both 100%. The Spicy Mermaid has jalapeños which gave it a perfect kick that I love. The eel sauce on the Toliger roll was excellent! I will definitely become a regular here.

Delicious every time. I like the small patio out back if it's not too humid. I recommend the Steeler Pleaser, Land and Sea, and the Summertime rolls. Only downside is they don't have a full bar.

Slippery Mermaid is a quaint beachside restaurant with some of the most delicious sushi. The atmosphere and service complement each other creating a peaceful and happy vibe.

Update/edit: Upon reviewing the response from this establishment, I apologize for my misunderstanding. I was not aware the “no outside food” policy applied to 3 chicken nuggets for a 2 year old. You weren’t going to make business off of my child as he would have not eaten a “teriyaki bowl” or a serving of Cheerios or puffs as suggested. However, you would have made money off of my husband and my drinks and food. We have been coming to this establishment every year we visit Navarre being former residents and living elsewhere now on Military orders. We always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. However, we now have a 2 year old picky eater. We brought him his own snack knowing well that he would not be able to eat anything from a sushi restaurant. We were seated, about to order and he was calmly eating his snack. The waitress then told us we could not have any outside food or drink. I let her know we would have to go elsewhere. Unfortunately they lost us as customers indefinitely as we wouldn’t be able to visit here with a child. Pretty upsetting as they did have good food. 0/10 for not child friendly .

One of my favorite restaurants! The sushi is always delicious and the service is always great. Stopped in for dinner tonight and our server George was fantastic. Would definitely recommend!

terrible experience, horrible management, lousy staff

My family came in on 03/29 to eat. We got put on the waiting list for 2 babies & 3 adults, the wait time was 30 minutes. We got the message and came inside excited to eat. We noticed at the same time as us a table that had 4 adults got sat inside, while we got sat outside (not asked) while it was in the low 60’s with the wind blowing making it very chilly. With two babies who were freezing we asked our waitress if we could move inside once the next table became available. She said yes, and understood the babies couldn’t be outside in the cold conditions, even she had shivered when she walked outside to take our order. She talked to the manager and came back & we got told we could get our food to go. We drove 20 minutes to eat as a family and enjoy a meal, not to eat sushi to go?!? We were told another option was to wait 30 more (extra) minutes for an inside table since nobody had gotten their food yet. All of this to say I feel like the situation was handled poorly by the manager, and waitress. Who sits two babies outside in the cold, in general without asking. I just feel like the management skills were very poor, when we asked to speak to her she didn’t have a solution other than sitting outside in the cold and wasn’t apologetic and acted like we were a inconvenience. We ended up leaving after waiting 30 minutes outside, and the manger told us our food hadn’t been made. *I wanted to add, a family inside that didn’t overhear the situation came outside to offer us their jackets. —————————————————————- To start off your reply as a business is completely unprofessional. That itself speaks over our whole experience. The weather in the high was 63 and low was 51. The wind was 8 mph. As soon as we got outside and our waitress came that’s when we expressed our concerns with moving inside. We did ask to be sat inside and was told we would be the next on the list for a inside table. We were under the assumption that it would be sooner than later so we decided to go ahead and order food. Speaking someone INSIDE seen the issue, and your still not seeing the issue is the problem of this business. Absolutely terrible.

Best sushi spot in town. Really like that they allow you to grab a drink from the bar while you wait. It's a smaller spot, but worth the wait. Fresh fish and large rolls.

This place is just okay. It's mostly Americanized and cooked sushi with a few raw options. Some of their specialties even have bacon or chicken which is unheard of in Japan. The location is near the water so if you sit outside on the back porch you can have a narrow view of the sound. Parking is limited so it's best to go during the off hours if you have a big vehicle. Place is clean and the staff is nice. If you like. Americanized or cooked sushi then this is one of the better places.

Cute vibe and pretty quick even on busy night, but the sushi is about as non-authentic as it gets. The spicy mayo or whatever is genuinely offensive (it’s legit Franks’ redhot). Didn’t see a single Japanese person on staff.

Unfortunately this establishment would not let us bring in food for our 22 month old son (is that even legal?). They also do not offer a kids menu. I would say this place is not kid friendly and to leave the kids at home if you plan on coming here. We obviously did not stay to eat as all 3 of us needed food not just the adult's.

Delicious meal, artfully prepared, kindly served.We had edamame, rolls and shared a Chef's Choice sashimi. George was our server and took good care of us. Casual setting, easy going. One of the best sushi places we've been to. Best in Navarre!

UPDATE/EDIT: After reading the owners response, I understand now what happened and why it happened. Although this explanation would’ve been welcomed when my order was cancelled, I understand now. Very well thought out and detailed response, and hopefully if they ever have another day like that, this will be explained the day of. Thanks for the response and clarification 👍🏻 Put in an order at 5:25 for $66 worth of food. Was told it would be ready at about 6:40. Had some time to kill and I know it gets busy for them so I said that was fine. Got to the restaurant about 20min early so I sat in my car and waited until I was called or until 6:40 came along (whichever happened first). Saw people walk up to the restaurant, then walk right back which I thought was strange as I didn’t see a huge line. Imagine my surprise when I get a call at 6:33, 7 minutes before my estimate pickup time, and I’m told they are out of everything and cannot make any of my food. Oh but don’t worry, here’s a $15 credit for when you come back. Which is so cheap of them. It started to make sense on why people were turned away, but what doesn’t make sense to me is that Slippery Mermaid had to have known that when I put my order in at 5:25 that they were running low on ingredients. I saw others get turned away for what I’m assuming was low/no ingredients in the 20min I sat in the parking lot but no one thought to call me. Why did every single employee drop the ball and not tell me that they were low on ingredients sooner than 7min before my pickup time? They had over an hour to use some foresight and realize they were pretty low on RICE (which is honestly insane to think about. How do you run out of rice) so they probably shouldn’t take on any more orders, but they didn’t. And they offered a $15 credit as their apology (again, shows how cheap they are). It’s easy to overlook small things when they’ve run out of stuff in the past (no shrimp, fryer broken, etc) but this just shows how disorganized everyone’s communication skills are. If they’d just told me they couldn’t fulfill my order when I placed it or shortly thereafter, I would’ve understood. Super irritating. If you want consistency, go somewhere else. This happens too frequently

We've carried out twice here since we arrived last week. The first was simple sushi rolls - spicy tuna and spicy salmon. The next time we had a Slippery Mermaid, Summertime, Green Mermaid, and Mermaid Tails - all Phenomenal!

I felt super sick after leaving and we got an avocado roll that was brown. Service was pretty good though and it’s a really cute place.

Absolutely love this place! Every time we are in town we make sure to visit. My favorite is the grilled chicken sushi. This last time we visited the waiter recommended trying their garlic sauce and it was awesome. Our edamame was cooked perfectly, great view of the water while sitting on the back deck. Can’t wait to go back!

Hands down one of the best sushi places I have ever tried. They have a unique menu along with popular favorites. My daughter is allergic to fish and they have options for her other than the standard avocado or veggie rolls (she loves the Raider Roll). The view out the back overlooks the sound beyond their parking lot and inside features local artists. Whether you choose to sit inside or out, it’s a cool atmosphere. Try it—you won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful hole in the wall. We arrived at 7:59 pm (1 minute before closing) and were treated very well with the best sushi in town.

If you love sushi, this place will not disappoint! There are only a couple of things on the menu that your non sushi friends can order, so leave them at home. I highly recommend the spicy edamame as a starter!!

I let the waitress pretty much order my whole meal and it was fantastic. They have a lot of non traditional sushi. There are options without seafood for those of us who don't eat seafood. It was great. They also have flavors sake that wasn't super sweet.

I used to live in Navarre Florida and I used to go here a lot when I didn’t have school. I moved and I miss this place a lot. The service is amazing, me and my family knew almost everyone there so we could have conversations with there very nice employees. Any food there is amazing the sushi, the salad, the rice bowls. And the place is very cute, the decorations and everything else! I miss this place so much. Wish I could still come to this place!

Fresh smell and clean environment for lunch; quick friendly service. Chose the Dragon roll, Whale of a Roll and Summertime roll; all had excellent flavor with the dragon roll being our favorite on the plate. Wouldn't object to going there again!
