⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️More stars needed! If you are anywhere near Springfield VT, don't eat anywhere else. The ribs, brisket and pulled pork (pulled pork quesadilla) were so tender and juicy and just the best and I've had some really good BBQ. I loved the slightly sweet but still savory sauce. The service was fast and excellent and the price for all we got was super reasonable. We also enjoyed the coleslaw and fries. They have tables set up with umbrellas. I can not recommend them more. But get there early because they are very popular and are only open while the meat lasts. Hours 10:30 to approximately 4pm.

Stopped by visiting my family from the Midwest and this place was the best food I've had in New England! Brisket was on point! Pulled pork was awesome! Sauce and rub complimented everything nicely! The prices I'm still not sure how the man makes any money! If I lived in town I'd be going here minimum 2x weekly! If you aren't supporting this business, y'all have lost your minds! Absolutely amazing BBQ. I moved to Springfield from Memphis, and I can say the pulled pork and brisket served up by Two Neanderthals competes with the best Memphis has to offer. Get extra sauce — it’s worth it.

This a small food trailer so I'm not sure how to evaluate atmosphere. They do have picnic tables for when the weather is nice. What I can tell you is the food is excellent! My absolute favorite is the Bubba Burger. Wear your stitch pants and bring an appetite. It's a half pound burger topped with pulled pork. The service is always super friendly. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

To say the food is 'good' is a drastic understatement! If BBQ or delicious food is your thing you should certainly check it out! Everything was delicious! The Burger cooked great and the pulled pork on top was fabulous. The brisket was amaaaazing! And the ribs were large with plenty of meat and awesome too. The fries were even really good! Easy in and out oocation off main drag going thru Springfield. Easy walk up permanently anchored food truck. Friendly peoples n amazing food. Def worth coming from wherever to check out or stop on way thru!

This food is so awesome!!. It is the best pulled pork I have ever tasted. We were turned away from the cowgirl diner in Chester, vt, because of our service dog. Then we looked for good food in the area. Wow! I'm so glad we did. We will be returning quite often. Their food is delicious and plentiful.

Run or drive to this amazing BBQ shack for the best brisket sandwich North of Texas. Slabs of tender, smoked meat (at least 1/3 pound) with homemade barbeque sauce fill an oversized, grilled bun is a STEAL at $11 with only $1 more for fries or a name-brand can of soda. Round tables adjacent to River Road provide a perfect stop for a perfect meal Wed-Sun from 10:30am until they run out, usually 2:30-4:00. Pulled pork, bbq beans, coleslaw, burgers and more. Just… GO!

The Bubba Burger is delicious and a must try!

My girlfriend and I stopped here after our first choice breakfast spot fell through, and we were incredibly impressed with the Sarah special of brisket over fries. It is superb and the sauce is fantastic! We're not from the area but this meal had us wishing we were.

This was my first visit. I was extremely pleased. The sweet potato fries were delicious. The pulled pork was tender and the sauce was great. I'll be back for sure

I’m sorry. I really wanted this to be great, but it’s not. Drove about 20 miles to pick up dinner. Brought a big cooler (pre-warmed) to show the meats some respect. Sadly, it didn’t need my respect. The brisket was a disaster. Covered in so much sticky, sickly sweet sauce that you aren’t sure what kind of meat you are eating. I had a vague hint that this was once good beef. Sigh. I think this brisket is intended to be served on sandwiches or similar. We wanted it to stand on its own. It doesn’t. Full slab of ribs was a generous portion. But, the ribs were just OK. Is it possible to buy Select Grade ribs? Perhaps that is the case. Just a little hard/dry for what you might expect from roadside BBQ. The pulled pork was good, but whose isn’t? This is certainly the easiest of meats to BBQ. Good thing we bought extra pork! It served well as leftovers in carnitas the next day. The cole slaw is very good. Sadly, they were fresh out of baked beans. I’m told the French fries are good, but we had almost 30 mins to home, so we couldn’t get them. If I’m nearby, I might stop back for a quesadilla. To make the drive to drop $100 on dinner? Not gonna happen.

We have had BBQ across the country, and Two Neanderthals was 100% some of the best we have ever had. Not only was the food absolutely delicious when we ordered it, but it was even delicious after heating it up (which is a rare feat)! This food was so good, it made us dizzy. There are no words to describe the absolute mouth watering grub you get here

This BBQ is fantastic! I love that they put the outside pieces of the pork in the beans… which adds so much flavor and keeps the hard chunks out of your sandwich. The beans are one of my favorite menu items. Their BBQ is so good, we buy it from them by the jar! It’s a sweet and smoky sauce. The pulled pork quesadilla is so amazing, good for kids and adults! You can see the bag of potatoes sitting on counter and hear it when they dice them into fries. AMAZING! I got the brisket today for the first time (because I’m addicted to their pulled pork so I have not gotten the brisket before) and it was tender and thick cut like it should be! Generous portions and genuinely good food! There are other BBQ places around the Upper Valley area but none of them compare to Two Neanderthals. Even the cole slaw is the right flavor and consistency - nothing weird like you sometimes get from places trying to recreate the wheel. If you haven’t been- GO!

The staff are helpful and friendly and the smell from the always cooking wood smoker is enough to make your stomach rumble and your nose tingle Best bang for your buck for delicious finger licking bbq I’ll be back and I send everyone I know there!

It's a roadside trailer, so don't expect sit down service, but don't let that stop you from trying this place. The food is fantastic! I got half a rack of ribs, french fries, and beans for only $22. Now a days, that is a great price. The ribs were cooked perfectly and their sauce is on the sweet side, but not too sweet, with a hint of zing. The fries are fresh made, so it takes a bit longer to get your food, but very much worth the wait. Malt vinegar is available for those who like it. The beans are made in their bbq sauce, and they have meat in them. Sorry vegetarians. Not sorry! They're awesome! It's a nice motorcycle ride up from Springfield, MA, so go try it. As for myself, I WILL BE BACK!

Mike is an absolute genius. I go to this place every single week at least once (yes I'm fat now, it was worth it) and he just hits it out of the park every single time. Every single thing he cooks from that menu is in a class of its own. I just got back from down south and not even genuine southern BBQ can stack up to it in my opinion. He really is a treasure to this area and I honestly hope he stays forever. I don't know what I'd do if I were to wake up someday and not be able to get a huge perfectly cooked burger with a massive slab of brisket and that perfect BBQ sauce on it. Probably lose weight actually, but who wants to do that when you can eat food that good instead? He's just a genuinely nice guy too, he's always talking to me about my cars and just anything really. You can tell he loves people and really loves what he does. The prices can't be beat either. Show me somewhere that you can get more food with less money and I will be shocked. Surely if there is such a place the quality probably won't be as good so is it really worth it anyways?

First time eating here. My wife and I were looking for a BBQ place for lunch. This was one of several that showed up in my search. The reviews were almost completely positive and the name sounded quirky enough. The gentleman that waited on us was polite with a sense of humor. The menu is fairly simple but something for anyone that eats meat. Sadly, we were too early for the brisket. It probably would have been worth the 1 hour wait. We both had the "Neanderthal". My wife has always hated covered fries. Until today. The pulled pork was perfectly cooked and juicy. The sauce is on the sweeter side, which I like, but not so sweet that my wife wouldn't eat it. We had a side of the beans which were again, on the sweeter side but loaded with flavor and pieces of meat. I also added 2 ribs to try and he gave me 3. They were perfectly smoked, a tad pink and just enough sauce without taking over the smokey flavor of the meat. Lip smacking delicious. Would definitely return when we're back in the area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this BBQ establishment.

Brisket isn't easy because you have to essentially overcook it for it to be done correctly and melt the collagen. These guys nailed it!! Only complaint is they were out of ribs

I had the Bubba Burger, which has pulled pork on it and comes with a side of fries. The burger was great, the pulled pork had nice smokey flavor, and even the fries were top notch.

Absolutely delicious food....no Smoked BBQ Pulled Porked sandwich could ever compete or compare....then add the portions/price and you just got served a little piece of Heaven on earth... A++++

They offer large portions for the money you spend The "Neanderthals" are funny and are happy to oblige with "custom" orders They also cater! So yea, if your ever in the area and have a craving for good barbecue stop by and check em out!

If you are anywhere near Springfield Vermont you've got to go to this roadside stand. Two Neanderthals Smokin' BBQ have some amazing flavor at very reasonable prices. As soon as we stepped out of the car we fell in love with the flavors that were in the air. I had the brisket layered on top of fries. The quantity was more than I could finish, and at $11 the price could not be beaten. The students I brought tried the hot dogs & hamburgers and love them. So if you find yourself midway up Vermont on Rt 91, you owe it to yourself to make a side cut and visit these two Neanderthals.

Savory goodness. Pulls apart so gently incase you accidentally drop it on yourself. Lol I did. This place has it's own BBQ SAUCE. The owners run it. And there super nice. If you love BBQ. then you need to try this place. Thank you

Delicious food, decent prices, and exceptional service. I've had their pulled pork quesadilla and the brisket sandwich, both were incredible. the pulled pork was perfectly cooked and shredded, moist, but not soggy, and delightfully seasoned. The brisket melts in your mouth, and the bbq sauce is just the right consistency with a pleasant hint of garlic coming through. Portion sizes are generous, you can easily get 2 meals out of a single order, but you'd have a hard time resisting the urge to eat it all at once. As if the food wasnt good enough, the service is the likes of which is, unfortunately, rarely found these days. after just my second visit (roughly a week apart) he remembered who I was and what I was in town for. A 5 star rating just doesnt do it justice, if you're ever in Springfield Tuesday-Sunday, just stop by and see for yourself.

Was in Springfield, and went here because acquaintances had ordered A GALLON OF THEIR SAUCE, and had that nervous I'm-about-to-get-my-foodie-fix demeanor. Wow. Just wow. I had pulled pork, sweet potato fries and cole slaw. While I was eating it in my car, I kept saying to myself: "take a picture...take a picture". Too late. Besides the fact that the food was awesome, the owner was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Why haven't I heard of this place before?????
