Riverjam is great. Wish they had it in the late fall thru early spring as well. Always good bands, lots of good beer choices as well.

Came here for the first time and I loved it! Came for a social event for work and had an amazing time. It's located down a long, long road where you end up in a parking lot with plenty of parking spaces to choose from. You are then able to just walk into the center. They host a bunch of live concerts. They have a lawn where you are able to bring your own jackets, blankets and chairs and enjoy the concert. They also have various seating all around the location. They have a bar and restaurant also where you can sit down and enjoy dinner. They have various free obstacle courses down their walking trails, which the kids absolutely enjoyed! They offer rock climbing, zip lining, rafting, and canoeing. In order to do rafting and zip lining though, you do need to purchase an all day pass which unfortunately for us since our event started about 30min before those activities closed, it would not be worth it. Either way, they offer a lot of winter activities and such a great time just being there and walking around. Great people watching environment for sure!

It is an excellent place to learn water sports such as Kayaking and Rafting. There is also space for other types of activities such as climbing and zip lines. Family atmosphere, facilities in very good condition, admission is free, you only have to pay parking $12 usd, activities are paid separately or there is also an annual payment. Ample parking, much of the parking lot is dirt road. Inside the site there are eating options, normal prices.

The water course is entirely artificial, but they do a good job of simulating real rapids. It's like a very low key theme park with lots of dogs. Be aware the parking is $12 and the food is pricey, but you can bring your own picnic, chairs, hammocks, bikes etc. You only pay for the attractions you use (or get an all day pass).

I wish they had more dog friendly amenities in the main park area. My dog gets hot and thirsty, and it's near impossible to find fresh water for him. Also, more poop stations would be very helpful.

The US National Whitewater Center holds a special place in my heart, truly a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike. Nestled in the embrace of nature, it is a playground where one can escape the digital world and immerse themselves in the exhilarating experiences the center offers. From the heart-pounding rush of whitewater rafting to the heights reached while rock climbing, the thrill of zip-lining, the grace of ice skating, and the adrenaline rush of mountain biking, the Whitewater Center caters to every adventure craving. What makes this place exceptional is not just the myriad of activities, but the genuine engagement it fosters. Here, people set aside their electronics, forging connections with each other and the raw beauty of the surroundings. It's a place where the boundary between Heaven and Earth seems to blur, as the joy and excitement of the activities intertwine with the natural serenity. The US National Whitewater Center isn't just a destination; it's a sanctuary for those seeking an escape, an adventure, and a connection with the great outdoors. It's a testament to the magic that happens when people come together to embrace the thrill of life and the beauty of the world around them.

An awesome local gem. While it serves some of the most competitive athletes, it also serves the larger Charlotte community for outdoor adventures. They offer both day passes and annual passes (and single activity passes) that get you access to some really neat adventures. White water rafting, mountain biking, kayaking and paddleboarding, zipline and ropes courses, and rock climbing, plus many more activities are offered here. Great weekend spot and evenings in the summer they offer live music. The food is decent and convenient. Overall it's a great place for the outdoorsy wanderers who are looking for some fun close to the city!

Overall we had a fun day. We went on Labor Day and it surprisingly wasnt super busy. Everyone was nice with the exception of 1 girl who worked the rope course behind the bike rental first thing that morning. She wasn't much older than teen age and she had the worst attitude! Very snarky! She made us all feel uncomfortable. .. My 13 year old grandson asked her a simple question and her reply was " well I'm going explain that to you goofy". Not in a nice joking tone with a smile either. in a demeaning snarky tone.. He took it very personal and we didn't think that was appropriate under the circumstances and she definitely doesn't need a job that involves working with the public. If I were her supervisor she would have to be fired for that comment and her overall attitude. There were lots of different activities to keep us busy but I did feel a little lost with the lack of signs to direct you where the different stations in the woods were or which way to walk to reach them . Even the maps left us feeling a little displaced without asking staff where this and that was located. It was a fairly decent overall experience though with a few exceptions. The gear like the helmets and life jackets were so smelly it was almost unbearable though! It all smelled like a cross between BO and vinegar...They said they sanitized by spraying with alcohol but honestly something more needs to be done to get rid of that smell! The restaurant had great food and everyone there was very friendly. Everyone at the facilities were very friendly with exception of the snarky little girl first thing that morning around opening time. She was horrible... We may or may not go back one day.

Disappointing. If you're a real adrenaline junky you're in the wrong spot. The website hypes up kayaking down the river, but there's no way for someone who's out of town without gear to show up and kayak same day. This is better for children or dates. Plus the second thing I wanted to try, climbing free solo over the water, is closed last minute. And the mountain bikes are almost all single speed with no thrill trails. I won't be back. My saving grace is the employees who are all great and made the experience a lot more fun.

This place is the worst!! DO NOT GO HERE. My brother and I just spend $160 and was told nothing regarding the required clothing, scheduled an orientations, and the extra fees from activities once inside the park. Additionally, the website states that shoes with a heel strap are required but not closed toe shoes (this is needed for zipline). We spent 3 hours and left because we couldn’t do anything. We couldn’t kayak the rapids (you need to bring your own) and wasn’t told that prior, we also couldn’t do the rock wall over the pool without waiting 30 minutes for orientation, then we went to the zip line and got through orientation there only to find out it’s $10 and we need a shirt, pants, and closed toe shoes (not told prior or on website). Finally, we leave and call to explain what happened and that we would like to get a rain check and come back another day. We get put on hold and someone else picks up the phone. We explain the same story of not being able to kayak or raft, orientation’s left and right, the lack of mentioning the clothing requirements for each activity, and the extra fees for certain activities. The guy listens to our story and says it can all be found on various spots on the website, and we suggest they should also put up these signs in the park too because it would’ve saved us time and money. We also suggested another idea saying an employee should at least ask if this is your first time here and explain the clothing requirements, orientations and schedule, and extra fees. What does he do next? Hangs up. Worst customer service, waste of time, and waste of money. DO NOT GO, THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP YOU. I HIGHLY SUGGEST EVERYONE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Used to be a great place. I only renewed my membership because of the dog park, but it’s evident that USNWC rushed into opening the dog park. They DONT have any policy on aggressive dogs. They let in aggressive dogs all the time and even if they witness an aggressive dog attacking another dog , the employees won’t do anything. They won’t throw out the aggressive dog or its owners. I’ve complained about the aggressive dogs and the response from the employees is that “What do you want me to do about it? You’re the one who signed a waiver.” They are only concerned with selling overpriced beer and dog toys. I’ve asked USNWC managers for the policy on aggressive dogs in the dog park and they refused to give me an answer. 99% of the time, you’ll probably won’t have a problem, but do you really want to risk thousands of dollars in vet bills or risk losing your pet here.

It's definitely worth a visit. Bring extra clothes and bug spray. Also, it's super important that you stay hydrated. It's humid during the summer months. Unfortunately, they don't have cameras installed to capture you while zipllining or water rafting. It's a bummer because they also don't want to be responsible for any lost items, such as your phone, and they will highly encourage you not to have your phone with you, as it can get damaged or lost. For the price that someone pays, they should be able to walk away with pictures. So, I say, install some darn cameras and give people the opportunity to walk away with their memories. Regarding the ziplining and rope course. I found it to be disappointing. It's the same rope course over and over again. Mind you, this is with no water. You need to be healthy in order to complete this. One more thing, the life vests and helmets really stink! No joke! They need to wash them.

It was family reunion week and we visited the Whitewater Center and we all had a blast! The parking was convenient, entry into the park requires you to sign a waiver prior to paying, once inside the park, having purchased the all access pass, it was so easy to hop around from one event to the next. We were in a group of seven and we ranged in age between 9 and 58. All of the family members were able to get on a raft together and surprisingly no one fell off! We tried both the family and adventure rafting. We were able to sign up for three times! Truthfully on the last trip around we were hoping to fall off, but I guess we were all doing so well at navigating we ended up helping other rafters pick up their paddles and lost shoes. We all tried the climbing walls, one with a harness on and the other climbing wall where you could fall into a pool. We were on several zip lines and we were also tried the climbing ropes. We arrive just as they opened and we didn’t leave until they closed (we helped pull our raft in from the water). We rented a bin that we could put all of our belongings into and just simply tell them which bin number it is so we could access the basket at any time. I suppose the rules changed from the last time I went because now food is not allowed in the park, plan on leaving it in your vehicle or don’t bring any. It only rained for a short spell so we ordered lunch and we all agreed it was pretty good! I’ll be back!!! I would have posted more pictures, but it was difficult taking any while on the zip line or well rafting. Visit their website!

Loss of one star because of the rental bikes that are available for the trails. A single speed bike with no dropper post is really not ideal for the trails. I know there’s dual suspension bikes available to rent too (which honestly are kind of overkill for the trail system) but, the hardtails should at least be setup 10-speed.

Went to the new wildwoods area for children. Cool concept and great for children. My issue is the amount it costs for a PARENT to stand by, not on the equipment, but just to watch their children is the same price as the child that’s actually playing. ($18 to stand…). Quite ridiculous. More of a safety issue to stand on the sidelines as a parent letting their 2+ year old children play unsupervised vs allowing parents inside to keep an eye out. If you’re going to try and charge adults that aren’t on equipment to watch their children maybe you should then have staff actually circulating watching them. All in all a let down on this system and not worth it at all. It’s essentially an outdoor park with some climbing that you’d pay 36$+ to use, 18$ per individual. Really is “wild”.

I hate to give a 3-star because I do think the center is a lot of fun with really cool activities, but it lacked a lot operationally and functionally. First, the whitewater experience was very cool. The center is beautiful and clean. I didn't get to experience many activities, but I did flatwater kayak, which was very pretty and peaceful. Upon arrival, there was a minimal line, but it lasted almost an hour. Outside of the line, each guest has to fill out a piece of paper (imagine an old school test where you write out letters in little boxes) that was their waiver. When completed, you get in line and wait forever with barely any sun cover. There is a small tarp, but it covers the sun for only about 1/4 of the wait. The heat is fine, but the sun was a lot. Once you get up in the line, the attendants (who were very sweet and helpful) have to enter the information from the waiver sheet by hand. I mean... can we join the technology age? My kids go to a trampoline parks with a better technology than this! Then you pay, ask your questions, and go in the center. There is *almost* no signage. It's extremely unclear at all times where to go for an activity, how to get there, or how to sign up. We stood in line for kayaking, which was apparently for the white water kayaking. But there was no signage to indicate that. We went to the zip lines, stood in line, got completely geared up, walked up a bazillion flights of stairs, only to find out at the top that it was the high jump. We meandered around for quite a while figuring out how to get everywhere. We wasted a TON of time guessing where to go and what was "over" there. They have paper maps, but being that it's a water center, we went through 2-3 that got obviously soaked and had to be tossed. Even though the map was fine, it didn't give enough detail. It's hard to understand how a park/center like that expects people to know what to do upon arrival. It's a gorgeous space with some really cool stuff to do. Staff were all friendly and helpful and our Whitewater guide was a hoot. Upgrade the technology aspect, add some cool, organic signage that fits into the landscape, and help guide people through the area. It was very frustrating and I was ready to get out of there, but essentially should have loved the experience.

This was an excellent day out!! There was plenty of parking (a amor of it unpaved, 12USD), and there were plenty of activities to do even if they were a bit pricy. There were a few free hikes and an obstacle race. We decided to do some rafting in the end (remember to wear strapped shoes, not flipflops! Although you can rent shoes there). If you’re planning on doing more than 1 activity like rafting (60USD) you may want to get the daily pass instead for a few dollars more that allows you to do any activity. There is a bar with refreshments too, and there was a lovely country band playing an hour before closing time on a Saturday so there was plenty of people having a picnic enjoying the sun. Highly recommend this!

The area gave us a few hours of fun. It is a little pricey with it being $18 a person, however there is no time constraints and you can come and go while at the whitewater center. I would definitely go back.

White water rafting is a blast! Signage of where to get to different activities would be very helpful. It seemed like many people were confused as to where to go and what was included in the all day pass.

The place is wonderful, and the employees super nice. Minus one star because the signage is non-existent and the map not as much help as you'd think. Once you've been there a few times it gets easy but be prepared to be confused at first. Also our whitewater guide Jenny (who goes to grad school in New Hampshire) was wonderful! Five stars to her!

The new playground is incredible! We could have spent most of our time there, and that part is free! The other activities were really fun as well. We did the white water rafting first. Our guide Jim was very upbeat and kind initially, but soon seemed annoyed by our group of beginners. We did the easy/family course which was plenty for our group. One was ejected from the raft which felt unnerving in the moment, even though you're wearing life jackets in shallow water. We went around a loop 3 times, which took a little less than an hour. The '90 minute' experience includes getting suited up and watching a training video. We also did rock climbing, zipline, ropes courses, and the playground. Lots of great beer. The food is just okay, but nice to have available onsite. All of the staff we encountered were friendly, some more than others. Please know, you do NOT have to buy a pass if you do not plan to participate in the activities! A member of our group bought a day pass at the entrance not realizing this. He paid $80 and did zero activities... Also, plan ahead! The whitewater rafting and some of the zipline courses fill up quickly, so you could get there, buy a day pass, and not be able to do either of these activities. You can call ahead and reserve by phone, but they charge a small fee for each person in your party. We paid $5/each to reserve a spot on a whitewater raft. So $85/person or $90/person to reserve the 2 major activities there. You can also get there early, around opening time, and hope for the best. Overall, we had a super fun, active day, and highly recommend visiting! Outside of the playground, most activities are geared to older kids (8+) and most activities have age requirements, so be sure to review their website in advance. And be prepared to spend a lot of $$. Parking is $10/car. Day passes are $80/each. Reserving activities another $5/person per activity. Storage lockers range, but $15 for in/out access makes the most sense. Food is overpriced, just like any other park like this. A family or group of four people will easily spend $500-600 for one day. If you buy a day pass, I recommend getting there early and taking advantage of the full day. Going half way through the day isn't worth it unless you're just going to hit the playground, watch a concert on the lawn, and/or have a few beers.

$12 to park???? I'm NOT paying that to walk your trails. Not to mention, the majority of them have been closed every chance we've attempted. Also, IF you get me inside, I'm more apt to spend money vs turning around and leaving. I'll gladly pay $5 for a walking-only wristband. If I decide to partake in activities, I'd pay the remainder required for activities. And at least you have me inside, where I'm more apt to try something, or buying something at the gift shop. Not to mention, the purchasing of water and food. You just put a cap on yourself, eliminating all of these purchasing options, bc ppl, like me, will turn around and are less apt to return. You can't fix what you don't know... I know there's overhead, yet, find another way to get those few dollars...

Awesome place to play outside for an entire day. The day pass is worth it! Deep solo, Whitewater rafting, floating/paddling the Catawba, River Jam music in the summer, zip lining and maintain biking ... And if you have your own gear even better. Highly recommend Momma Jen for white water rafting! She was the best!

Went for a birthday celebration turned to be a nightmare. We purchased zoning and rafting the lines where do long at the zip lines that by time it was almost our turn to go it was already time to go and meet for the rafting time that we picked however, you do watch a safety video first little dude. I know that my life was about over after that as soon as we got onto the taft everything was great. We’re going down the stream. The currents are very strong little to say me and my sister and two other little kids got thrown out of the raft. I literally thought my life was over. I was underwater. I don’t know how long before someone finally held Paddle and I was able to grab the paddle to load back onto the boat when I got on my leg had dashes cut all into my legs. They did take me to the first aid area, but not once did anyone apologize or anything this is definitely dangerous and I do feel like the money that I paid. I should’ve been compensated back being that I couldn’t do anything else because of my Injuries I will not be coming back because I care about my life more than that and it’s sad that no one even bothered to apologize or try to compensate me or my sister after they saw all the damages on our body

Lots to do here. Really enjoyed the whitewater rafting- you do have to schedule it though, so don't wait too long to get on the schedule. Loved the ropes courses, zip lining. They are very thorough about safety, gratefully. The double back zipline is an extra $10/person and you have to get on the schedule as well. The climbing wall over the deep pool is neat, you have to get orientation for that, and it was on every half hour. Worth it for the experience.

This place is amazing. If you have time to go. You should go. They have great whitewater rafting guides. They also offer mountain biking, zip lining, ropes course, rock climbing, and so much more. Plus outdoor concerts. The day pass covers it all. Which is the best deal. With the day pass you will have to pay an additional $10 for zip lining. But you still save money. The rest is included. I wish they had one closer to my house. Every part of the park is well kept. The staff is friendly like a chic fil a.

Edgard was a great rafting instructor. We weren’t the most polished crew, I don’t think we paddled together once but he made it so much fun. When we all decided to exit the raft unexpectedly he made our safety a priority and got us to where we needed to be. It was an adventure that we won’t forget. Thank you, Edgard!

I've been going here for over a decade now and the complex is always evolving. I bring newcomers here and they always enjoy the experience. From summer to fall, the WWC is a great place to come and just be outdoors. I love it and I hope they continue to invest in this unique place for the whole family. Today, we visited during Jam Fest and had an overall great day. Starting with rafting, then flatwater SUP and a ropes course. We closed out the day at the restaurant watching the last kyakers go through and a live band. Me and my family had a wonderful time (and always do).
