This place has changed a lot throughout the years. I planned a family trip coming from different parts of the state including overseas. My wife and I have a garden and grow veggies and fruits, we decided to bring some to gift to our family and we're not allowed to bring inside because they "edible". The situation was explained at the counter, the staff was not flexible or understanding. Extremely frustrating since I have been part of your customer base for the last two decades. I understand the reasoning, we consumed hundreds of dollars while on this site. I don't think I will be bringing my family here anymore. Please work harder on understanding your customers, not every situation is the same.

This was my first time ever going! Our manager had rented out a cabana and a few reserved parking spots for our work event. I was super excited to try this place out, but my first impression was unfortunately pretty bad. There was an attendant out front sitting by a tent and I let him know I was here for a work event and he talked to someone on the walkie-talkie and let me know I was good to park in the reserved spot (he was super nice and respectful). Once I pulled in, there was a second tent and there was a brunette girl (I believe her name is Brooke) and when I rolled my windows down to let her know I was parking in a reserved spot she rolled her eyes at me, gave me the worst attitude, and asked “Well what are you here for?!” Her unnecessary and pretty rude tone definitely caught me off guard. It was extremely disappointing, especially when this was my first time ever coming to Wekiva and I already have anxiety enough as it is when it comes to parking in new situations. Brooke definitely ruined my first impression, which is why I am giving this review 3 stars. Besides that, the event turned out to be super awesome! We rented out Canoe’s and paddled all the way out to a beautiful cold spring that felt super amazing on a hot 95 degree day!

We love Wekiva Island—the staff is amazing and friendly, the full bar is right on the water, and the food truck offers great food at a great price. We usually kayak the river up to the springs, swim with family and friends, and fish regularly. What made Wekiva Island special for us was their generous military discount, which made it affordable for our family of six to enjoy kayaking regularly, despite the hour+ drive. However, on our most recent visit, we were disappointed to learn that the military discount policy had changed. Previously, showing a driver's license with a veteran designation was sufficient to receive the discount. This time, we were informed that we needed a government-issued ID, not just a veteran-designated driver's license. We presented our Veterans Affairs ID cards, which were deemed insufficient, and then showed our Department of Defense 100% disability ID cards. The staff seemed unfamiliar with these IDs, and we were given the discount due to their confusion but were told that only a "retired" ID would be accepted in the future. As 100% disabled veterans, we found this new policy confusing and frustrating. It affected not only us but also other veteran families who were denied the discount. It seems that Wekiva Island is now catering exclusively to retirees with 20 years of service, overlooking the sacrifices of those who, due to injuries, had to retire earlier. We hope Wekiva Island’s management will reconsider their decision and extend the military discount to include all veterans, retirees, and individuals with disabilities. It would be a shame to lose such a wonderful destination over a policy change that does not acknowledge the diverse sacrifices of all military personnel.

WEKIVA ISLAND IS ONE-OF-A-KIND🏝️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Starting from the entrance, Wekiva Island was super organized, clean, and had terrific staff members!! We spent the day in one of their cabanas, and I must say WE HAD THE PERFECT DAY!! Each cabana comes with a cooler full of ice, a completely grill and reserved riverside chairs. My favorite part of the cabana!? THE FAN!! It made for the perfect riverside setup. We also took advantage of the complementary canoe and paddled down the river to Wekiwa Springs State Park. I would say for the average paddler, Wekiwa was about a 30/45 min paddle. After spending some time there we paddled back to Wekiva Island to enjoy food and drinks! We had food from WITHOUT A PADDLE CAFE and all I can say is YUMMMM!!! And may I add that I love the fact that they have so many good options. We also enjoyed drinks from THE TOOTING OTTER 🍻!! We spent the rest of the day living it up in our cabana!! We had such a great time and can’t wait to come back and have another REAL FLORIDA springs day!!

It's ok. $20 to launch your own kayak is quite ridiculous. I guess it's crowded enough that people will pay that. The girls running the entrance had no information on questions regarding the paddling route whatsoever. Like what direction to go, how long it takes to get to the next landing, or how far people go downstream. General advice. They know how to take payment though. I'm disappointed they didn't know general questions associated with paddling. Don't expect spring clear water here either.

People were swimming at restaurant here but this is the place where a lady had her arm eaten by an alligator not long ago! I have enjoyed Wekiva Island over the years, but just found out today they made recent change. To honor our veterans and those with handy caps, they used to allow those with handy cap car placards FREE ENTRY and of course parking closer to the river. I’m posting for a friend this was a very poor business decision that was made to charge vs. allowing free entry to handy cap visitors. Couldn’t make them that much more $, but I feel that decision is short sighted. I am not handy capped but my friend is, I was very disappointed when we visited this recent 4th of July long weekend. My rating has changed was 4 stars now it’s 2, plus I will likely take my business elsewhere more often.

A lot of people say it’s gotten really corporate, but I’m my opinion is actually good, that way if you pay for the cabanas you actually got your own space, the place is busy but it’s still worth it. You can swim In the wekiwa river which is spring fed so it’s cool all year round and fairly clear compared to the other rivers in Florida. The cabanas is the way to go here if you can afford to rent one. They have gas grills, fans, electricity, chairs and couches and some of them refrigerators, the ones that don’t have refrigerators come with a nice iced cooler They have an art gallery that is curated by an amazing artist. Worth checking out those events. The kayaks are overpriced but still a fun experience. The river connects to kings landings and the wekiwa spring state park. Obviously there’s wildlife.

My aunt lived in Longwood near the Wekiva river and I have fond memories of vacationing here most years during the summer, renting a canoe and spending all day on the river and in the springs when I was a child. We travelled all the way from the United Kingdom and it was always my favourite thing to do in the whole of Florida. Recently, I got to travel here with my 2 daughters (my sixth-seventh trip to here) and we got to go on the same trip I took as a child from the cabana, down the river down to the springs. We even saw an alligator. My daughters aren’t quite so fond of nature, but for me it was a highlight of the trip getting to go back here. The place has changed a lot, but it’s still as beautiful as ever.

It's a nice place, however, the stress of getting there on time before the park reaches out capacity turned me off. We rented a cabana, it was okay. There's a lot of people everywhere, canoes, kayaks, etc, unattended in the middle of the water, making it difficult for people to paddle, especially if you are a beginner. People smoking pot in the parking, disappointing!! On the other hand, you will see lots of wildlife, including bears and gators, so keep that in mind before you go in the water, in case you freak out. All together, a one and only experience for me.

awesome place, rentals were cheaper than anywhere else in this area and longer by a ridiculous amount, all other locations I could find were 1-3 hr rentals and here you can paddle all day until 6 no matter what. BEAUTIFUL scenery and animals, staff was exceptionally friendly in all aspects. food and drinks were great and a reasonable price compared to other areas in Orlando that cost $10-15+ per drink. only qualm I had was the stream we went up (rock springs) was quite narrow in sections and was difficult for fairly amateur kayakers to navigate in a 2 person vessel, but obviously the resort is not in control of how the plants grow.

I have gotten their combo platter. The last 3 weeks in a row. I eat it for 3 days at home after the restaurant. The food is just always so good service is excellent. If you never try the Greek potato
