I love William Penn Inn!!! Exceptional service, food and ambience!!!

Love every minute of being there

We celebrated our wedding at the William Penn Inn and had the best experience ever. We worked with Darlene, Jackie and Tiffany and they were phenomenal to work with. Darlene helped plan our wedding to a T and made us feel very comfortable. Her experience in the wedding industry is unmatched! Jackie managed our reception and was there for our every need. I highly recommend the WPI for any of your events. Thanks again for an amazing day!

This restaurant is run like a well-oiled machine. Always perfect. We went for our 49th Wedding Anniversary.

This place has been around for 300+yrs. The wife and myself have been coming here every once in a while since out first date here in 2003. Just celebrated our 19th year anniversary and had dinner here again. Today, Brian our waiter was top notch. Food was fabulous, drinks were well made. Have yet to have even the slightest issue with this restaurant. Love it. 10/10 will continue to recommend.

Have not been there for a while. We miss the days of Father John’s piano in the bar. ONE MONTH AGO...Dinner last night was excellent. The petite prime rib was perfect. Recommending and will go back soon. Back tonight 7/26)... quality of the Prime Rib was not the same as last time. Not a good grade of meat. Snapper soup did not have much meat in it. Mostly liquid. The other party had the prime rib. Said not great also. Lack of consistency seems to be the norm. Not going back for a while. Disappointed ...expectations not close. And not inexpensive.

The food is always good here. Get the clams casino and snapper soup!

I've been here twice, years apart. Once for a wedding and another for a work-related event. Great service and setting both times. A classic!

I came here for my cousin's son's first birthday. The food was excellent as was the service. The bathrooms were pristine as well. A splendid place to eat as well as have banquet hall meetings. The servers were always present and very accommodating.

Been here many times for many events. The food has been hit or missing, but when they're on point, the food is very good. The service is splendid as well. Very cordial and professional. The venue is a great place for gatherings and events as well. They also have a Bakery where you can order delicious desserts. They call it Mrs Penn's Bakery. I highly recommend Miniature Pastries.

This is a historic Inn that has been carefully and beautifully renovated. Both the exterior and interior show attention to every detail. Upon entering you will be amazed at the elegant decor, the beautiful woodwork and the historic ambiance. The hostess and wait staff were very accommodating seating us. The waiter was very polite and helpful and gave us more than adequate time to make our dinner choices. He answered questions, and made suggestions. We never felt rushed. The dinner and dessert were excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. I would recommend the Inn to anyone looking for fine dining or to celebrate a special occasion. The William Penn Inn is a beautiful dining experience. There is also a larger space at the inn to host special gatherings.

Sarah was a delightful server. Pleasant, knowledgeable, and funny. We enjoyed each course in a timely and delicious manner. Never felt abandoned. Quite the opposite, felt celebrated on our 29th anniversary!

Always an amazing food experience

We eat here 2-3 times per year when we just want a fabulous dinner in an upscale atmosphere. Everything from salads, entrees to desserts (and bread basket) are terrific This is our go-to spot for filet, prime rib, or lobster tails.

William Penn Inn is my favorite spot for Sunday buffets. The food is amazing every time we go. The staff is great, and we also had dinner there, which didn’t disappoint. We love it every time we visit.

After attending our grandson's soccer games on a hot Saturday in May, my wife and I decided we deserved to be pampered. So we headed to the William Penn Inn for lunch. Our waitress Regina was fantastic and helped us navigate the luncheon menu. We ordered the lobster roll and crab quiche. I must say that the lobster roll was wonderful with the amount of lobster being comparable to the Hotel Bethlehem's lobster which for us is the standard for lobster rolls. We topped the lunch with dessert, ordering key lime pie and creme brulee. The atmosphere, the food, and the personnel were all wonderful.

I went there for the first time, for the liver and onions dinner, which came highly recommended. The dish did not disappoint. Even more so, I was very impressed with the atmosphere and decor. We're looking forward to visiting again, sometime in the future.

I used to absolutely love this place. I’ve celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, and even had my bridal shower here years ago. The last few times I was there, I was really disappointed in my food. A lot of fond memories there, hopefully they improve and I can give them another shot in the future.

William Penn Inn is a very popular restaurant near Blue Bell in Gwynedd, PA. We have been coming here for over 20 years. The interior of the William Penn Inn is historic. The main dining room is very elegant. It is a great restaurant for special occasions. The prime rib is one of the best items on the menu. The file mignon is also very good. The seafood dishes are also very good. The shrimp pasta is my favorite. I love the cold crisp house salad with a blue cheese dressing. The deserts are delicious. My absolute favorite is the zucchini bread - to die for. You can buy the whole loaf and take it home with you. The service is EXCELLENT! Sarah was our latest waitress. She was very nice and friendly and provided a great service. We highly recommend this iconic William Penn Inn restaurant. It is a very unique experience. :-)

Celebrated a special birthday food was well prepared and the alcoholic drinks were well done

If you've been around for 300 years, you must be doing something right. This venerable institution has been doing fine dining right for centuries. The lobster bisque and key lime pie have been my personal favorite for over twenty years. Seafood and steak are consistently executed very well.

Always warm atmosphere, superb food , great service. You feel special and well taken care of when you dine there.

Mothers day brunch was wonderful!

Exactly what you would expect at a legacy restaurant in the suburbs. Great atmosphere sitting inside the Monet Room. The traditional hot entrees, like the Filet and Prime Rib, were excellent. The special entree we had (Duck L’Orange) was definitely overcooked and dry (duck quarters should be fatty and juicy). The raw bar sampler appetizer is a good deal, but not the highest quality. The shrimp definitely tasted frozen and the oysters/clams were just okay. The bread/roll basket needs work, serving them warm would be a great start. The calamari was great but the lobster arancini was just okay, mainly due to the lack of lobster inside the balls. Similar issue with the snapper soup, which was devoid of any real fish inside (I doubt it was real snapper turtle). On the drinks, the martini was great and the bottle list was reasonably priced. Overall, would highly recommend if you need a good “atmosphere” spot in the suburbs. I personally would not come in expecting to see anything unique from a culinary standpoint.

I worked here while I was in college. I worked very hard, was always early, very professional, and 10am-11pm shifts were the norm. Shelley, the woman who hired me, knew it was my sole income source from Day 1, so I was always on the schedule except for a couple times with no events. One week, I called my friend and coworker to ask what my schedule was and she said I wasn't on it. Very unusual, but happened a couple times. The next week, the same thing happened and I wasn't on for the following weekend either. I could not go two or three weeks without pay, so I went in to see for myself. Everyone looked at me like I was a ghost. Somehow, they all knew I had been let go, but I didn't. I had to be told by my coworkers. The William Penn Inn never bothered calling me. They never gave me a reason. They just took me off the schedule and let me eventually figure it out. After being a reliable, hard worker for a year without any issues. It was shocking, upsetting, and presented a financial emergency. I would not patronize a place that would do such a thing to their dedicated staff.

There were 8 of us, 2 vegans. We arrived before 5:30 so we chose from the Prix Fix Menu which was 3 courses, appetizer, entree and desert for $40. The vegetarians choose from a different menu though they had options for the Prix Fix. Everything was good portions and delicious. For apps we had Lobster Bisque, french onion soup, Granny Smith Green Apple salad, Caesar salad and Spinach salad. Entrees were prime rib, seafood special, crab cakes, chicken parm and desert was key lime pie, chocolate tort, taramasu, apple crisp etc. Everything was delicious and the wait staff was excellent.

My fiance and I toured this venue as a potential place to have our wedding. We grabbed lunch in the restaurant after meeting with the wedding coordinator. The food was excellent, and we were treated very kindly. We loved it so much we are hosting our wedding here next year and are so excited!! 11/10 recommended.

Excellent food! I had the Petite Filet with Wild Mushrooms (which came with a Spinach Salad) and the Sampler for an appetizer, with the Carrot Cake for dessert. Beautiful 300+ year old inn with three levels of dinning. I also love the way they light the trees around the building at night. Just me and my wife this time but they have space for larger groups as well.

You’re paying for the atmosphere. Scallops were good but they were sitting in a corn mix which was closer to Amish cuisine than to a butter garlic base. Bisque was good. French onion soup ok.

As always, the food was excellent. Our waitress was on point. Seeing the antiquity was awesome and it was well maintained. Everyone there, including the customers, were very nice and pleasant. This is why I proposed to wife some years ago, we had our wedding reception there and we make it a habit to go back whenever we can.

I attended a luncheon with my church members. The meal was good. The temperature, of the food and the room, could have been a little warmer. My only complaint is about the server assigned to our table. Her service was less than desirable! She obviously, didn't want to work this day. And, she took it out on us!!! In a couple of weeks, I'm attending a banquet, at this location and I pray that she isn't working that day...

All in all, it was a good experience. The service was outstanding. I don't recall the servers names, but it was a guy and girl and they were very attentive and responsive. The was a bit disappointing. We went for their Easter Buffet. The shrimp cocktail were tender and flavorful. The oysters appeared to have been shucked the night before. They were nice in size but dried out and tough and still attached to the shell. No brine. Muscle not cut. Our table favorites were, the Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Pasta Salad. The Shrimp Scampi did not have any garlic, the Carved Ribeye was okay and the Crabcakes were mini and dried out. The rest were mediocre at best. The Bloody Marys were served in small Rocks Glasses and were bland with very little Vodka, no Garnish. A bit disappointing for the William Penn Inn.

This place is insanely overrated and overpriced. Average food, average service. I don't get the hype at all.

Wonderful place to dine. Over the years I have yet to be disappointed, despite the venue whether it’s a wedding reception, a banquet or just a meal. Beautiful amenities and don’t mind paying the higher cost because the food doesn’t disappoint!!

Nice place for a ladies luncheon. The crab and asparagus quiche, which is not a traditional quiche form, was delicious!

Hosted a company dinner here and it was amazing. The food was excellent the atmosphere classy and warm, the service impeccable. Highly recommend.

Attended a retirement party in one of the banquet halls where they had a cash bar, hors-d'ouevres, and a buffet of delicious food! It was a lovely time! Just wish the chairs were a little more comfortable and spaced out better. Overall I had a great experience at the William Penn Inn!

We were here for a Sunday Brunch and it was just wonderful! The selection of food was outstanding, the food all tasted amazing and don't forget to save room for the desserts! Yum!! :) The service is also top notch! We highly recommend checking this classic establishment out! :)

This is a local favorite, always a great experience. The staff is superb, and the food is as well. The prefixed meal is sure to please, and right now the seafood buffet is back. I especially appreciate the trees on property that are lit up all year round. Thank you William Penn In !

Food just doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be but the atmosphere is still nice

I would like to start off with the food being excellent, but the service was trouble. Our server was not pleasant, more like a drill sergeant. She did not smile . When she took our order, she was very blunt. Like she was ready to go home as soon as we sat down. She never filled our water glasses until we asked. My lamb was undercooked. I waited so long to let her know that another waiter took care of me along with the manager. They were right on everything. Personally, I think she would be better working in the bouquet area, which is where she probably worked before. Just put down the plates and keep moving.

Recently dined here with good friends. It is our favorite place to meet…the family atmosphere, excellent meals and outstanding service keep us coming back! Manager Keith Blank and Server Tanzy are exceptional!!! Looking forward to our next visit!

Last night (2/22/24) I took my husband for his birthday to the William Penn Inn for their $55 a person, evening Seafood Buffet. My husband is a pescatarian and was excited over the food selection. I’m sad to say that this dining experience was anti-climactic. The flavors in the food were off; stale tasing and bland. Perhaps being the last seating (7:30p) we got the “bottom of the barrel?” The food quality at Wm. Penn Inn has always been superb. This was a total disappointment and a waste of our money.

Everything was lovely except the food not hot enough.

Dined there last night and had the most amazing dinner. Ryan our server, was so nice and attentive and of course the food was outstanding. I would definitely suggest you get the lobster schnitzel while you can. It is amazing. I try to get something different each time I go and last night was all about the halibut. The portions are generous and the quality of the food is always top notch. Can’t wait for our next dinner event.

I love this place. Yes it is a little pricey but worth it especially when you do the Prix fixe menu.

William Penn Inn is a wonderful old school restaurant that has excellent food with an extensive menu. The servers are polished and polite and perform their job reminiscent of a time when waiters and waitresses were always top notch and highly trained and knowledgeable. William Penn Inn does everything right and is a delicious delight to visit. I always leave with the anticipation of returning soon. The restaurant is always clean and the many dining rooms are all beautiful, especially my favorite, The Monet Room or the intimate Monet bar area. Don’t miss the bread basket, especially the zucchini bread. Even the coffee is a superb blend served in a silver pot. The William Penn Inn, for all that you get, is a real value. You truly get what you pay for. For any occasion, special or otherwise, I highly recommend a visit to The William Penn Inn!

We have been going to William Penn Inn for both Brunch and Dinner, and they never disappoint . The food consistently surpasses our expectations, and that something we cannot say about most of the other places we dine at as we are very hard to please. The services at William Penn Inn are always better than most of the so-called 5-Star dining places in major cities across the U.S.. It’s not by luck that this place has been in existence for 300+ years!

Dined here for Valentine’s day. I ordered one of the Valentines cocktails and drank about half before I noticed there was a bug at the bottom of my glass! We immediately brought this to the servers attention, and we were met with the most indifferent “sorry.” She absolutely could not have cared less and they did not even remove the drink from the bill!! Edited to add: I also shared this on Instagram and tagged them, as WPI follows me there, thinking that may get this to the right person. They viewed my story, but did not respond. We were waiting for WPI’s response to this situation before making up our minds. But seeing as they quite literally do not care about food quality or customer experience, we will not be returning. Sad, as WPI has been my husband and I’s go-to place for Valentine’s Day and anniversaries for years.

They need to work on kind and upbeat service. Food is great. Homemade gnocchi and other items homemade, nice job chef.

I love William Penn Inn so much ! The service and food is always great ! I love the hidden peanut butter pie just ask for it lol it’s so good !!!! The French onion soup was the best I ever had !!!! It was so good !!!! Crap dip was fantastic too !!!! Always the place to be !

Very good brunch. Good food well presented. Not fabulous, but above average for a brunch buffet. Be careful if you have celiac or a food allergy. The staff tries but cross contamination is not controllable in this environment.

Beautiful but so overpriced is ridiculous

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had, the food was great and the waiter was very friendly. Highly recommend the french onion soup and I ordered the blackberry-barbecued pork loin chops and it was amazing. Would love to come back here sometime again! (also try the mandarin margarita!)

The restaurant looked really nice, and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our server was super attentive, and the food were fresh and tasted great too! Overall, it was a delightful experience. (It is just hard to get a reservation for a larger parties).
