If you’re traveling through Tampa this is a great place to stop and get a great sandwich. The desserts are hard to choose from. It’s not cheap but QUANTITY isn’t compromise here. It was hard picking a sandwich, everything coming out looked delicious.

Sandwiches are delicious, the staff is amazing, and the atmosphere is super pleasant!

Still the place of legend. I know with the ownership change people are concerned but I have not noticed anything different. As long I don’t see any change in quality my rating will stay 5 stars! I love everything there and how often can you say that!?

Carrot cupcakes were perfect for my favorite person's birthday. Leroi and Cristina and Tracy took excellent care with my special order and made the surprise that much sweeter.

My wife and I live about two hours away and we discovered this restaurant a few years ago after stopping here before a concert. Ever since then, every time we come to Tampa we exclusively eat here. The Monte Cristo is the golden standard of any sandwich, ever. We have told our families about this place and now every time we stop in Tampa we have to bring them back Monte Cristos. We are obsessed with this sandwich because it is truly the best sandwich in the world. This sandwich alone would be a good enough reason to come here, but on top of having some of the most mouthwatering sandwiches you'll ever have, their baked goods are top notch too. Every flavor of cake we've tried has been sensational. If you haven't eaten here before, maybe you should stay away. Otherwise you'll end up like me and my wife, obsessing over this restaurant and making any excuse to come to Tampa, even if we both know the real reason is just to come here and eat. 5/5, easily.

This is a wonderful restaurant/bakery in Tampa. The history of the Bakery goods is fantastic. This is the place to get a delicious sandwich and or soup and a dessert that is to die for. A must stop in Tampa.

The sandwiches here are HUGE. They are amazing and the Pete’s mustard sauce is to die for. If you like mustard. The price is high but the quality of the food is superb

There’s nothing like it. It’s my only sugar splurge place. My favorites: hummingbird cake, carrot cake, and the rum cake slices that call you near the register. On the savory side, don’t pass up the tomato bacon Brie soup. Absolutely addictive.

Just a quick post. Happy/sad to see Jeff sell the business though certain he handed it to a good company and he can now kick back and relax :) Vaguely recall his grandfather(?) in the rocking chair when one would drop by in the old days. Fast forward to my last visit. Uncertain what the heck happened...got a beef martini sandwich and asked for 'hard bacon' a term I now use for crisp/fully cooked bacon :) Was eating the sandwich on the road and not paying much attention to it. Though did notice the roast beef was full cooked, not the normal medium rare. Of more concern, it tasted like they put tons of salt on the sandwich...more then I ever had on one and to the point it almost hurt my throat to continue to finish the sandwich. I would not think the garlic/mushroom sauce they use, even it spread too much on the sandwich would cause such to occur. At any rate, after more years going there then I can count. I don't fault them for this 'one off' bad meal. They have filled my belly with many a fine meal time and time again. Worth the visit for sure. Thank you Jeff Mount for the many years of happiness!

WOW…..this place has the most amazing sandwiches and cakes. Had the Turkey Club that consisted of delicious turkey breast, crispy bacon, Jarlsberg cheese, lettuce and tomato with a mustard and mayo spread and all in a deliciously soft pumpernickel bread. This sandwich was very large!! Also had the Arugula Salad that had a huge amount of arugula, crispy bacon, chopped hard boiled egg, blue cheese crumbles and beets. There is a choice of dressings. And to top it off, dessert was a lemon cake that melted in my mouth. This place is ALWAYS crowded and is highly recommended.

Not kidding when i say the best strawberry cake i’ve ever had!! So moist and i ate the next day, it was still moist!! Absolutely fabulous. I spent all day thinking about going home to eat this cake. Highly recommend.

Had a Ruben today, $16. I was disappointed in the sandwich to say the least. Dinning area was not clean. Went to three tables before we found a clean table. It was after 2 so it was not at all crowed, 3 other tables in dinning area were occupied. I would not go back.

Order a slice of coconut cake and it was great!

Great deli (really bakery that serves samwhiches) and dessert well if you don't know just go here won't be disappointed

We always go to Wright’s when we visit Tampa! Amazing service and food! The carrot cake is to die for!

Not the same, disappointing visit after 12 years away. We used to live in South Tampa (2010-2013) and frequented Wright's - always for the Monte Cristo and Hawaiian Princess. Now we are living in the area again and of course made Wright's one of the first places to re-visit. The MC was the same as I remembered, although very meat salty and we had to go with WW bread since the PN was sold out. The ratio of meats/cheese/condiments is perfect, and the size has not changed. I should have only eaten half. Has anything has changed in the bakery? Our slice of Hawaiian Princess was a huge let down. Dry, tasted like a cheap box cake mix, had only pineapple and coconut on one layer, (very little of both) and the icing was too much, too sweet, and did not taste of cream cheese. $45.69 so if there is a next time we will share a MC and skip the bakery.

I have not been there in a while and went with friends. I had the Beef Martini great sandwich but took the bacon off of it as it made it too salty. My friends had the Turkey Pecan salad sandwich no complaints there. Great lunch, just hope it continues being this way since they just got brought out by Casper who owns the Oxford Exchange. Will have to go back and see and get another Beef Martini sandwich.

I certainly hope the new owner Blake Casper keeps everything the same.

This place is a MUST when visiting Tampa. The portions are generous and the prices, while higher over the years, are reasonable. The Golden Gate is a great, crispy sandwich. I do recommend ordering a half sandwich if you’re eating it as a single person for a meal. I would like to see their sides not served in plastic containers when eating in. It’s wasteful.

Weights is almost a tradition in my family. We have been customers for decades, never disappointed. I hope things doesn't change since it's recently been sold.

The best of the best when you want a sandwich , cupcake or cookie. Always a great go to place.

We have been going to Wrights for years and drive a long way to get there. We have ordered for parties also. It has always been good but yesterday on June 19th it was horrible. The meat on the hot pastrami was lukewarm and tough and very skimpy. The turkey pecan salad sandwich was very skimpy. Not even enough to cover the bread. After paying 46 dollars for our lunch and the long drive it was extremely disappointing. And there was no ice. I hope this isn't their new norm. The price goes up like others do but why does the quality and quantity have to go down. Very sad.

Good food, LOTS of it but comes at a premium. $50 for two sandwiches witha side and drink is a bit steep no matter how good. There are many other options out there, Wrights needs to re evaluate prices, especially during this difficult economy. Just my opinion.

The service was amazing, everyone inside is so friendly! I ordered the Turkey Reuben and strawberry cupcakes and they were delicious. Would recommend ordering ahead since it does get quite busy.

First time here and will definitely be back. We tried the Turkey Club, Beef Martini and Dill potato salad, all were too notch. Some of the best sandwiches we've eaten in Florida and the Dill potato is the best I've had in years. The service is stellar and this place is busy.

Top notch sandwiches and desserts. Very efficient system. Love Wright's! The fruit salad side was meh - melon sat too long cut up in juice. I won't remove any stars because we come for sandwiches and desserts....probably shouldn't order fruit here. Still live Wright's regardless

Wrights is known for many things, but the Alpine cake is the top contender. With its soft yellow cake and milk chocolate frosting ,it’s definitely one of the best cakes they have. (Now now, I’m not putting down any of their other cakes because quite frankly they’re all delicious) Writes deli offers, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, cold pastas, and many other side dishes. Wights is also known for their bakery. They have everything from cupcakes to brownies, cookies, and more. Wrights Sweet tea is another staple when visiting. The Parking is always interesting during their hours of operation. They do have a small parking lot behind the building . There is also street parking and single car parking around the edge of the building. If you’re visiting South Tampa, make sure to stop here. You will not be disappointed. Happy Eating Y’all . PS. This place is a trip back in time, thus the 4 stars for atmosphere, but..... the food is delicious and the people are awesome. Sandwiches are made to order, never a complaint to substitute or add to your sandwich, and thick enough to share or make 2 meals out of. We try to eat there at least once a week..... and never, ever forget the dessert. Unbelievable choices and the sizes are killer (another sharable serving). ENJOY!!!

Very good. I got the tomato soup with bacon and brie cheese. Only thing I didn't like was bacon was not crispy too under cooked for me. Cheddar grilled cheese very good. Took yellow cake and chocolate frosted cake up. Was very fresh.

Very unhealthy atmosphere, kitchen is fully dishes are clearly not sanitary. Dishes are just washed with water and still dirty. Workers at each other necks and there are no paid breaks if leaving early for emergency events.

Texan sandwich was definitely worth it! A great local place for us to stop while passing through.

I can't believe it took us so long to find this place! Worth all the hype. If you like rueben I'd go for that! So many great options but the toasted ones are the best, especially with melted cheese. 🫠

We visited Wright's on a Saturday while in town for a concert. We were told it was a must go to while in town.. we were not disappointed. Our party of four had the following, the New Yorker (add the German dill pickles), Rueben, Turkey, Monte Cristo, Carrot Cake and other sweets. ALL FANTASTIC. The deli was clean and well organized. Even though the place was packed, the staff had the process down to an exact science and it was well run and we were through the ordering line quickly. The food was fresh and delicious. Although we do not live close enough to go on the regular- we do live close enough for a day trip for lunch.. we will return -- its that good. Keep up the good work.

We spontaneously stopped here after picking up my dad from the airport and it did not disappoint! Our sandwiches were so fresh and huge servings so we had the other halves for lunch the next day. I had the turkey club and he had the club. Bacon was perfect, bread delicious. A bit pricey but once I saw the size of the sandwiches it evened out. We will need to go back to try the desserts. Also the bathrooms are all individual rooms and very clean, a big bonus for moms with littles!

A Tampa tradition! Absolutely delicious! Must try if you are visiting. Must frequent often if you are local. My favorite deli of all time. Must try their version of the Monte Christo! My daughter loves the ham and cheese. Everything is delicious. Their bakery is amazing! My wife loves the hummingbird cake.

Been going there since 1978. Just a small sandwich shop. Moved to Orlando and when I stop over, I make sure I get something to eat.

This is an order at the counter and wait for your food restaurant. There is plenty of seating available if you choose to eat in. There are lots of baked goods to pick from before you get in line. Cakes slices are wrapped individually with many flavors to choose from. There are also cupcakes, cookies, brownies and more to tempt you while in line to order. The menu includes many sandwiches along with soup, salads and deli salads. The sandwiches are big and filling. This was our 1st time visiting. Our sandwiches were very good and we got a piece of cake to take home. We will definitely be back again.

😲Amazing!! Food is so good! I ordered the monte Cristo sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwich was big enough for two people. I also ordered a banana cake to go… it was so good. Customer service was great! I will come back ! ❤️

Baby, where you been all my life? (Or at least the past 30+ years). How could I have been so stupid as to not discover this easily-found gem until a few months ago?? Bottom line- this is the best place for sandwiches I have found in Tampa. Is it NY deli? Definitely not. Is it better than a place like Lucky Dill? Definitely. Don't be a hold out- just try Wright's once. Hope to get there this weekend!

All the best. Thank you! It's disappointing that I have to post a pooor food review on one of my favorite deli. My friend and I have made a tradition to get my birthday lunch from Wrights Gourmet. It's was birthday up coming weekend I called in our order for pickup. A grilled club sandwich with a side of avocado and my friend ordered a grilled cuban. We order a slice of strawberry cake and cup cake, chocolate peanut butter cup cake and 2 soft drink. Both sandwiches wasn't the usual quality of the WGD. The meat was very skimpy and mines was mushy. We both agreed that we could have put all the meat on half of the the bread and dispose the rest of bread. The chocolate cup cake didn't taste fresh and moist. I have to say in all the years I have been patronizing the business I have never had poorly quality of food. The strawberry dessert was delicious and it was both of us first time trying the strawberry dessert.

I have known of this place for years……why did we wait so long to experience this awesome and tasty place? We ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich $13.25, a Turkey Chef Salad $14 and a slice of Hummingbird Cake $8.50. The sandwich is the size of two sandwiches. I ate 1/4 and I am taking the rest home….it’s huge. This is THE Tastiest sandwich I remember eating. Even though the menu is huge, it will be difficult fir me to think about ordering another kind. The salad was a good dice and so fresh and tasty. We’ve never had Hummingbird Cake before and the best way I can describe it’s majesty is that it’s like a super moist and nutty banana bread with pineapple and a nice and not extremely sweet Cream cheese icing. The staff are all very nice and helpful. I never comment on restrooms because there is never anything remarkable to share….not the case here. Restrooms are multiple and unisex. Each one is a room unto itself. All seem to be handicap accessible and feature changing tables. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this wonderful restaurant and we cannot wait to return.

I read the rave reviews about the cakes (carrot, princess, and Alpine) and assumed they would be good. We've been there twice now and we tried some cookies, a seven layer bar, and the rum cake the first time. The second time we got carrot cake, the princess Hawaiian cake, and the rum cake. The first day we tasted everything fresh. The carrot cake was unremarkable, the princess cake was good (reminded me of pineapple upside down cake with cream cheese frosting), and the rum cake was amazing. We ended up having leftovers and didn't get back to them for a few days. Upon finishing them, the princess cake didn't hold up and was not very good. The carrot cake was delicious as by its nature it usually tastes better with sitting refrigerated a few days. And the rum cake as always was 🔥. If you can only afford one thing, choose the rum cake. It's a dense bundt cake that's like pound cake with a slight rum flavor and chopped nuts as a garnish. I don't generally like pound cake but this is so rich and delightful. In my opinion, nothing else was really worth the price except that and the carrot cake if you can afford to refrigerate it a few days first. If I go back I plan on only getting rum cake, which is sad because I love sampling baked goods.

I hosted a women conference at wright’s and they treated us with so much care; with it being such a busy environment it didn’t even seem like it by the attentiveness that they gave us. The staff was so respectful and sincere. Great place to bring people together.

The last time I was there was a very long time. The place is much bigger and nicer. My family love the food.

Love the Turkey Reuben, add bacon! FYI to management, your menu on Google is off - I attempted to order a slice of coconut cream pie on pi day and was told you only sell pies on Thanksgiving and Christmas and that “whatever menu you’re looking at is old”. May want to adjust that :)

Great family-owned deli in South Tampa. Huge variety of huge sandwiches. (Pricey, but worth it and they don't mind if you share.)

I had the beef martini sandwich. Wow. Delicious. I would’ve liked a more sturdy bread, but the taste was on point.

This was my first time and it was a little confusing, but they have a system and the people at the counter are very nice. I got roast beef and it is very good, no gristle or anything, the meat is from the best cut. The portions are huge. It's a bit expensive as you'd expect to get really good food. My wife loved her turkey sandwich she got. Everything is customizable and they have very interesting creations. The place is very clean and even the toilets are nice and there are plenty of them.

Now I see what the fuss is all about! My husband and I have been wondering why this place stays busy and went in for lunch today. Walking in, you instantly smell the freshness of the bread and desserts. We ordered the tuna salad sandwich (on pumpernickel toasted) and the Monte Cristo (pressed on white). Both were delicious, and appreciated the sandwich cut into 4 manageable pieces. Our go to sandwich shop is usually Gulf Coast Sourdough in Seminole Heights, but this is much closer, just as good and more variety. Great lunch spot!

The lace was packed and the people were great, For the price of the sandwiches there should be a little more meat on them. I tried the carrot cake and it had no flavor to it. Huge disappointment and I love carrot cake.

The keel bone/gristle had been cut up with the chicken so made some bites unpleasant. I will eat the chicken salad sandwich on pumpernickel again it's usuallydelicious. Stuff happens.

This place is legend. Everyone EVERYONE local told me to go here for Lunch. The sandwiches are grande, my Monte Cristo was recommended and Outstanding. I've saved the Strawberry Cake for later, a late-night snack. Wright's is Destination Eating, great for large parties.

Honey, who shrunk the cake??? Oh dear the iconic Wrights cake has been shrunk ! What a disappointment! I was shocked when I picked up a classic alpine cake for my nephew’s birthday only to find it was noticeably smaller. Everyone commented that the cake has now lost its legendary luster. No doubt it tasted great, but as a Tampa native the Wrights cake is a celebration staple, sadly, just not the same, except for the price!!!
