The best Sicilian food in old San Juan

The service was excellent. The servers were all attentive and polite. The food however wasn't as great as all the reviews said. We had the salmon special, chicken parm and pasta carbonara. The pasta was the best. I wouldn't say this is a must do in old San Juan.

Great food and quiet atmosphere. The staff were very nice and helpful. Eric waited on me and he was charming, funny, informative, and quite attractive!

The Gnocchi was superb, so was the bruschetta we had for starter.

Definitely go here. authentic, superb,

Had a great dinner. Pastas were fantastic

I went for takeout and ordered a special it was gnocchi with caramelized onions and prosciutto, it was really good. My only vad comment is that it felt a little overpriced. The portion was like a cup and it cost $22.00. So I will go back someday on a very special ocassion.

My post comes a few months after eating with my family at this establishment. The service was outstanding and the food was as advertised. Al Dente has the reputation of being among the best dining experiences in San Juan. If you are visiting or livening in PR, you should know dining experience on this island is part of the culture, attraction and a strategic component of its tourism product. Al Dente should be at the top of your list for experiential dining in PR. Enjoy!

Great atmosphere and the food is better than you would think fresh catch of the day with fresh home made pasta

Some of the best pasta you will find anywhere. Excellent service as well. We had the spaghetti pomodoro and linguini Gorgonzola, both superb.

Superb Italian. Get the pasta. We went in with fairly conservative expectations and were blown away.

Absolutely amazing. Great food and great service. Best veal chop I have ever encountered. Wow!

Carlos and Nikki took great care of us! From the kids menus to the adult orders the service was personal and inviting. Then there was the food. Each member of our party of 6 raved of the delicious flavor of their meals. Visit here for awesome service and succulent, flavorful, and juicy foods!

Absolutely awesome!! Best pasta I've ever had. I love meat but this truly was great even without the sausage. I had the Penne Pasta with Italian sausage. Amazing! Carlos and Nikki were our servers and they were so nice. They were very attentive and so helpful. Love this place so much my kids want to come back for dinner tonight!

Went with my Mom and we have to wait for 39 minutes until finally our shrimp pasta and veal risotto came out. Food was room temperature -COLD! ! There is no way we can eat that. It's a shame.

We had a nice meal here. Not too extraordinary but the staff was very nice. The seafood selection was surprisingly small and the shrimp in my linguini were overcooked. The location is nice, very centrally located and close to the water.

The staff was delightful and the food was excellent. The restaurant was cool but not cold like so many others. We will go back soon. They have great tea too. Hard to find in PR.

Service is Good, food is Okay, My husband had the fettuccini. He enjoyed it. My mom and I ordered the eggplant and were disappointed with the dish. It was served with string beans and roasted potatoes. They put sugar on the potatoes . Yuck! The eggplant was silver dolar Sized. Real small. The wine list very fairly priced, good selection. The best wines on their list are from Sicily, Nero d'Avola or Nero d'Trola .

Delicious food and refreshing drinks. Fettucine carbonara was hardy and delicious. At mid day the champagne mojito was fitting, refreshing, and well made.

Service is second to none. The food is delicious, beyond anything else on the old streets of Old San Juan. The owner was incredible and the staff incredible. The best eating experience on the island.....and I was born here! Highly recommended!!!

I wouldn't normally go for Italian food in Puerto Rico but a local directed us here and it was actually really good.

An experience worth having. Giancarlo and Margie make you feel at home. The ambience is cozy. The people who serve there are warm and friendly. And you know what , the food is great!! We are regulars and will be for years to come.

I found this restaurant by accident while wandering the streets of old San Juan. Great food and service. Entrees were reasonably priced. I had the tortellini stuffed with veal and banana bread pudding. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful. Will definitely go back again. ****

Outstanding. The owner and the manager are wonderful people who really put the extra effort into treating the customers right. Exceptional menu and very high quality. Will always return here.
