Great ice cream place. Lots of flavors. Staff very friendly!

Wonderful smell walking in! I ordered the fireweed and honey and birch brittle. It was very good ice cream that the whole family loved!

Everything was great about this place. Staff were friendly and the homemade ice cream and waffle cones were delicious. Loved the Fireweed and Honey. My husband didn’t have ice cream but he did have a Carmel / Vanilla Latte that was probably the best that I have ever had. We were only in Palmer for a week and went two times. If we could we would’ve went every night.

The staff was very friendly and offered samples of several ice cream flavors. The ice cream was delicious and uniquely Alaskan!

When you walk in you can smell the fresh made waffle cones and they were the best I have ever had. The ice cream was so good. I had the Alaska Wild Berry and my wife had the Reese’s Peanut Butter Blast. Both were delicious and really hit the spot.

THE BEST ICE CREAM!!! I don't know what they put in it, but their ice cream is amazingly good! Try all of them, definitely get a Sampler - three flavors - really hard to make a choice! Birch Brittle is my favorite by far! Oh, the Silk Chocolate is oh so good!

Delicious ice cream. If you hate cinnamon, avoid the waffle cone. The best and more different flavor of the 3 I tried was the colony caramel crunch! The wild berry was not as special compared to other berry ice creams.

Stopped here to grab a couple of pints. Birch ice cream is very good. Wish that you'd skip the food coloring in your mint, strawberry & other flavors.

We are from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home of Dave & Andy's Homemade Ice Creamery; Dave and Andy's have received many national and international awards along the years for their creamy delicious treats. I truly never thought I would be able to taste anything like their ice cream until I had a taste of Big Dipper's! THEY ARE FABULOUS!!! Very creamy, silky and smooth - the way an ice cream should be! I am particularly addicted to their "Chocolate Silk" and "Bearly Awake" flavors. If you are in Alaska, stop by and get your cone!! You will taste a piece of heaven itself!!! Congrats to the Big Dipper team for producing such high quality, delicious home made ice cream!!!

Walking into this place I immediately fell in love. You could just SMELL that it was delectable ice cream the minute you opened the second door to enter! The atmosphere is LOVELY. Very warm lighting makes it home-y and the menu is full of wonderful flavors! Some in our group had different scoops of different flavors because they were that good. I had the Alaska Wild Berry and I loved it! The staff was VERY friendly! They even ran out of the waffle cone bowls and they DOD. NOT. HESITATE. to make some for us! I just adore the decor. If we lived here, I would definitely visit often but we are from Louisiana. They most CERTAINLY have our vote though!

A iconic location in Palmer!! Loving people always happy to serve you when needed, not to mention some of the best ice cream I’ve had in my entire life!!! The combinations and selections make me surprised how far ice cream can go!! Love you all who work there and keep on making Palmer a wonderful place!

It is our must stop spot now whenever we are in Homer. They roate their flavors so you are able to try something new all the time.

Big Dipper serves the best homemade ice cream around. The place is very clean, and the servers are courteous and happy young folks who made this experience so positive. Austin was very nice.

They charged 52 cents extra besides the 30 cent Tax and Tax is only 3 cents on $1 i paid 82 cents on a $10 Sorbet which did not taste good.I asked why charge so much on $10 and he shrugged his shoulder.never again,wasn’t even friendly.This was in Palmer

Great ice cream. The place is usually packed. The only thing we didn’t care for was the waffle cone which seemed to have cinnamon maybe? baked into it which took away from the ice cream itself.

I am BLOWN AWAY by how good their ice cream is. All local, homemade and well worth every penny. I got the Alaska Wild Berry (a bit bitter but so delicious) and my bf got the Colony Caramel Crunch. I will say mine was delicious, but his was damn near other-worldly. So delicious, such a friendly staff, will definitely be back if I’m going through Palmer!

This is my favorite place to get ice cream in Alaska. It's great having the chance to eat something local and not shipped in from some commercial dairy plant.

We were told about this shop by my daughter. We went and I can say that it beats Hot Licks in Fairbanks in every category: pricing, ice cream quality, flavor options, flavor creativity...everything. My husband is an ice cream lover. We recently bought a house that happens to be within walking distance of the BD. First thing my husband says: I am going to get fat! :D

Each time I’ve been, there were young adolescents working and they were all extremely friendly and personable. My favorite ice cream place in Alaska!!

We visited for the first time tonight after hearing lots of great things from neighbors. Our ice cream was fresh and flavorful, and we really enjoyed it! We also asked for a very small sample for our toddler, and the gave us an extra little dipper cup at no charge (with a good sized scoop) even though we offered to pay for it. We really enjoyed our experience!!

Big Dipper is without a doubt our favorite ice cream spot in the state of Alaska! They are always coming up with different flavors and the staff is always awesome and welcoming (even when the line is out the door after soccer)

Wish there was a medium size between the kids and Big Dipper. The Big Dipper is way too much.I ordered the turtle flavor. The chocolate bits were flavorless and never saw or tasted swirls of caramel. All I could really taste were big chunks of nuts.

I always go to this ice cream shop. Ice cream is always delicious and tasteful. It’s made in the back with local ingredients. And the flavors are always changing!

It's impressive how bad this ice cream is. But the terrible ice cream is not the worst part. The absolute worst part is the outright lie that it's homemade ice cream. I mean, it's homemade in the sense that they mix the pre-made ice cream there on-site. But as far as an actual product made from scratch. That is a lie. Don't believe me. Ask the staff where they get their mix. It comes from Oregon. And the fact of how small the storefront is with how large the menu is. There is no way they could house all the ingredients necessary to make those flavors. Anyway in closing if you want real homemade ice cream this place ain't it. They are pulling the wool over your eyes. *Response* No one put me up to it. I just can't stand watching a bad business exploits its customer base. As far as my claim is concerned. Your staff on-site told me with little to no provocation that the product is shipped from out of state. And I have no problem believing it. Because it tastes nothing like ACTUAL homemade ice cream.

Went their a while back, ABSOLUTELY loved it! Freshly made waffle cones. So good! And homemade ice cream that is so yummy . I am dairy free and I love how they have the option for dairy free ice cream for those like me. The people inside are very friendly, kind, polite and patient. If your passing by, definitely go inside! It’s worth it !!!!!

A little bit expensive but the ice cream is very good. They do give you quite a bit, so feel free to get just one scoop even though it says “kid-sized” I couldn’t even eat one of the two scoops I got!

I am one of the lucky winners of free ice cream for a year (best day of my life) so I have been sampling my way through their different flavors every week. All of them are spectacular. As far as the basic chocolate and vanilla…. They are THE BEST chocolate and THE BEST vanilla I’ve ever had. So creamy. So rich. Mind-blowing. They’ve nailed the classic candy flavors, Butterfinger being especially scrumptious. The sorbets are delicious as well. And the different/seasonal flavors are always unique and tasty! **also they have the most delicious waffle cone you’ll ever eat, with the smell of fresh cones hitting you when you walk in, you can’t resist** Everybody loves ice cream. But I’ve found a special love with Big Dipper’s ice cream!

Great ice cream, but only allows one sample per customer. What is the point in sampling if you can only get one? What if you sample and don't like what you sampled? You have to buy a full cone of something you haven't tried or just leave? I would understand a limit of maybe two or three, but a limit of one seems like a silly policy.

Good selection of flavors and very fresh and tasty. Will be back to do it again and again.

They have a wonderful selection of all kinds of ice cream and have dairy-free and gluten-free options! Their punch card is also great. I HIGHLY recommend this place. It's beautiful inside, and the smell was amazing, the best waffle cone I've ever had.

Fantastic homemade ice cream ! Lots of great flavors, including sugar free, dairy free and dietary restricted options (selection varies, so be sure and ask your scooper). Many loaded flavors, as well as classics. Huge scoops in cup or on their made fresh daily waffle cones. Treat yourself to ice cream because who needs a reason?

Our family had a great experience here. Everyone working was friendly. Fun atmosphere. You can watch the employees making ice cream and the waffle cones! My little boys loved watching the young man making ice cream. He noticed my boys and opened the door to interact. Stellar young man. Also, I’ve eaten cookies and cream at dozens of ice cream shops around the country. Big Dipper’s cookies and cream ice cream is top notch.

I can't not have regular ice cream, but I tried the lactose free ice-cream and I personally did not care for it. The rest of the family seemed to enjoy there cones.

What a wonderful place! Came in for the first time this past summer and absolutely fell in love. I walked through the doors with my mom and we grabbed some ice cream to celebrate the day, we were greeted by ALL of the employees which was such a delight. The ice cream was AMAZING and so creamy! I came back one more time before I asked for an job application. For the past 6 months I have had the absolute best time working at this establishment. If you are ever in town it is such a beautiful place to visit and feel like you’ve walked into your grandmas Kitchen!
