Finally! A restaurant where the food is truly full of healthy nourishment. While many establishments market themselves as “healthy,” Bolay truly sets a new standard on that word and raised the bar with its choices on oil and freshness. The cherry on top is how delicious they’ve made healthy food and how great the service can be when you effectively train the right people. This is the only restaurant at this price point that feels equivalent to me cooking at home with spices, sauces and fresh garlic. The customer service also goes beyond any restaurant I’ve ever eaten at—even Michelin Star level. If Bolay went public on the stock market, I’d be one of its first investors because this kind of restaurant is what people that want a healthier lifestyle have been craving for. My favorite plate is a Large Bowl with half pesto noodles, half Jazmine rice as the base, maple sweet potatoes (mmmm), the medley of beans on the rice, glazed tofu on the noodles, and either salmon or teriyaki chicken with fresh cilantro on top. Two pesto sauces on the side to pour on the pesto noodles for extra goodness. It’s so good, that I haven’t gotten tired of it in 4 months of eating it almost every day. After eating here for the 100th time, I can say I’m pretty grateful for this location’s team, for its food, and for their amazing management.

I recently had to stay in a hotel for a week while my roof and insulation were getting redone at home. I got Bolay every day. The large bowls are a bit too much food for me, so I got a regular bowl and it was still incredibly generous servings. They were always super fast getting my order to me via doordash, and even on doordash I spent less than 20 dollars for a filling meal (that never happens!) Their juices are out of this world delicious!!! I have told several people about Bolay. And as a vegan I can't recommend this place enough!!!! My partner is not vegan but he loved the miso glazed tofu. I would give Bolay 10 stars if I could!!

I live 45 minutes from Gainesville and I usually travel every two weeks to eat Bolay but a few days ago, I ordered my Bolay bowl and I ate half of the bowl until I saw a dead bug (the ones that have wings) in my food. I was so disgusted and I couldn’t even get a refund since I live so far away. It’s a shame because Bolay used to be my favorite place to eat :/

I’ve ate here maybe 6-7 times the past half year, I’ve been extremely sick half those times after eating. I haven’t had this issue with any other celiac friendly restaurants in Gainesville.

I like this location better than the University one. If u eat meat definitely try the steak, it's so worth the 3$ upcharge it was perfectly cooked when i got it PERFECTLY and i'm quite a snob about how my steak is cooked . Personal fav sauces are the pesto and mango habanero, i would recommend the pesto to anyone it's deliciousss Definitely get the large bol as opposed to the smaller one, the small price difference makes it worth the big difference in how much food ur getting. I usually get 2~3 meals out of mine it's great

I recently tried a variety of dishes from Bolay and was thoroughly impressed! The black rice spinach and almond salad was flavorful and fresh, offering a delightful combination of textures. The thyme roasted mushrooms were perfectly seasoned, and the powered bean medley added a healthy and vibrant touch to the meal. The Garlic pepper steak was tender and packed with flavor, while the miso glazed tofu offered a delicious vegetarian option. The chimichurri tomatoes with chopped cilantro and ginger turmeric were a refreshing and vegan-friendly addition to the meal. Every time I've ordered the food has been fresh and perfect. Additionally, I've never encountered a worker that was rude. They are always professional and polite. Under recommended dishes I just clicked a few faves, but to be honest unless it's a food you just have a personal dislike for, it's good.

Best vegan food ever!!!! Mushrooms were huge, best tofu I’ve ever had. Turmeric sauce was amazing. Sweet potato seasoned and cooked so well. I have no idea how they had it ready so fast and it tastes so good.

I've been a regular at this restaurant for a while now, and it never disappoints. The service is impeccable, the staff are friendly, and the food is undeniably delicious. The only slight drawback is the extensive range of flavors, which can make it challenging to create a perfectly balanced bowl. However, the freshness and hotness of the food always make up for it. I keep coming back for more, especially for their amazing sweet potato noodles. Highly recommend giving it a try!

I’ve been here dozens (actually, probably more) of times since they opened. The last few times, quality seems to have dropped a bit. Today, the sweet potatoes were 90% still raw (sweet potatoes should not be as crunchy as sliced carrots would be).

This was a really fresh, tasty, quick, and healthy eating spot. I was on a business trip and needed something quick but healthy; Bolay came to the rescue. The strawberry 🍓 chia pudding was everything and the staff was really cool. If you’re looking for something light, healthy but filling, Bolay is your place.

I just love Bolay's. I always get the regular bowl, and it's enough food for me. My go-to here at Bolay's is the black rice with beans, brussel sprouts, teriyaki chicken, cilantro with guacamole, and tumeric sauce. I feel so good, my gut, that is. The food is fresh, plentiful, and flavorful. I wish there was a Bolay's in the Villages, but I'll travel the 30 minutes to Gainesville to order Bolay's.

The food is fresh and really delicious, but I think could be more options to vegans and vegetarians. The large plate amount of food is equivalent of a medium size plate. The tables could be cleaned more often. The waitresses serving behind the bar are kind.

Meh to the actual food. The Meats were chewy. I spit out the tofu upon trying. The black rice was dry and crispy. Too much sugar and seasonings in the sides. The food appears appetizing until you taste it. Large portions and good service, but I won't ever return because the food is sub-par.

The place was about empty when we stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. We hadn’t had a chance to stop at this bowl food place and so glad we did. It’s better than other bowl places I’ve tried. The flavors are robust and they have great veggie choices as well as Forbidden aka black rice! Price isn’t terrible either. We got the large bowl which was a good amount of food if you’ve been on the road and are famished.

11-27-23 - Sofi greeted me at the counter and said she will get her alllergy specialist I spoke to on the phone. Matthew did an amazing job explaining food allergies and prepared our bowls being mindful of cross contamination. We feel comfortable coming to this Bolay location and look forward to another 5 star dining experience! 11/1/21 - This is by far the BEST Bolay in Florida. Ashley was so kind and took her time in preparing my order. She said “I truly just want you to leave happy.” Not many human beings have such a big heart. Moreover, a gentleman in front of me could not find a way to pay for his meal. Emily with her huge heart let him go with the food. I have never seen so much kindness in one place. God bless this business and all of its people that work here. I am so engulfed with emotions that I want to spread positivity and love to everyone now! Thank you for the warm meal.

They have changed a lot. The chicken does not taste fresh and tasted like frozen. The black rice was delicious. But it's not the quality that it was from even a few months ago. The menu options have also changed. Everyone is friendly and smiling, and the inside seating was clean. The highchairs were very clean.

The Family Bowl take-out is our favorite meal when I don't want to cook, but want to eat healthy food! Teriyaki chicken, sweet potato noodles, and broccoli. We love it!!

Bolay is easily the best place for gluten free dining. Some vegetable sides rotate seasonally. Everything combines well somehow no matter what you order. Dining in is great and takeout/delivery is great. Food reheats well, so bringing home leftovers is a favorite. Favorite meal: large bol with forbidden black rice and sweet potato noodles, broccoli, zucchini or Brussels sprouts, cilantro, and goat cheese with the creamy sauce. Yum! It sounds like madness, but it's fantastic. Only downside is that the table tops are often sticky. Edit: I'm happy to report that in the short time since I made my review, the tabletops at Bolay have been replaced. I have been there a few times with the new tables, and they are so much better. This place is so great! Keep being awesome, Bolay!

Came in to find a really clean space, the line in the food was stocked and looked fresh. The manager was extremely helpful when the online system to order pick up was not working, I am so happy to see that there are still good food chains that are well taken care of with happy employees and delicious food!

This is my go to spot when I visit Gainesville and usually the food and service is great but on September 17 around 5:30 the service was abhorrent. I walked in with another female of color having never seen this person. The only two words I’ve ever said to her were thank you for holding the door. We did not talk to each other as we were ordering, I did not look at her while I was ordering or ask for suggestions. So no communication. As I was finishing my order I heard the cashier ask the young lady if we were paying together, not sure why she asked this question or assumed we were together. The young lady was confused and so was I . I said no but jokingly I said to the young lady, you are welcome to pay for my food and she replied she was a college student. Again thinking the cashier would recognize we did not know each other and I already said no the cashier asked again if we were paying together. To ease the interaction I paid for the young ladies meal but replied I was once a college student so let me get this. The cashier then asked if we wanted our meals bagged together. Again, I was planning to eat there so she continued to make unwarranted assumptions by thinking we were leaving together By this point it was insulting and obnoxious. Please have your cashiers do better.
