This place is so cool! Even if you're not from the area it's worth a couple hour road trip, I stopped here on my way back from one and was surprised how awesome of a place it was. Great beer selection and even better vibe, will definitely come back.

Nice little spot in depot with inside/ outside area that is really nice. They had lots of options for drinks and I enjoyed their food too. I had chicken tenders and meatballs. Overall it is a cute little venue and a nice place to just hang out with friends or stop by while walking around depot

Food was okay, the line was long and they kept yelling out that they were almost out of food.

My favorite place in Gainesville to hang with friends, play shuffle puck, and enjoy the gorgeous weather! Aaron the bartender will take great care of you, he’s the best!

When I visited on a Wednesday, there was a karaoke room open. It was so much fun.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere and this is the perfect pet friendly location for drinks in the area. Just be advised that during the summer months it is very hot and in an “open air” setting. Found that out the hard way (my own fault), but still enjoyed the experience.

What a fun place! We were playing through and staying down the street. We enjoyed great beer and a pizza from Humble Pie pizza truck fire dinner. Both were amazing. We had a blast playing pinball like we were teenagers again. A perfect date night on our trip.

If you go for the park and the view you'll enjoy Boxcar. If you go wanting a nice wine or a well made cocktail you'll be disappointed. They do have a very solid selection of beer and it is all very well priced (ie inexpensive). The wine selection is as simple as it gets and they don't have hard liquor. However,you can go on a nice day, order a beer and people watch.

The Boxcar is located on very nice grounds that has a playground for kids and a small pond with a fountain. There's a variety of seating with both sun and shade. You can also bring a blanket to spread out on the lawn. Food is not served here, but there is a food truck and two other venues.

Boxcar is a very relaxing place to grab beer and enjoy the day. I'm very impressed at how they cleaned up the Depot area. A great place to take the family for a day.

Last Friday (6/11), we celebrated a retirement party with approximately 60 guests at the Boxcar Beer and Wine Garden, and the experience couldn't have been better. The venue is beautiful, clean, and cozy. Bailey, Events Director for Top Secret Events, was very professional from the first phone contact and made sure everything was ready for our event day. The taco bar provided by The TOP Restaurant was delicious. Many thanks to Bailey and her excellent staff for making our event a big success. Highly recommend.

Nice place to relax and enjoy a drink or two with family and friends. Conveniently situated in Depot Park. While they're known for their drink offerings there provide some light food as refreshments

I like Depot park and the atmosphere of this place.

Feels like France. Laid back open atmosphere with games to play(corn hole, arcade games, etc.), usually some friendly people playing frisbee or soccer(join!), open seating, able to bring/order food from pop-a-top and good selection of beers. A habitual pit-stop on the way back from my bike rides down the Gainesville-Hawthorne trail. When I think back to my time in Gainesville, this will be one of the most prominent places I will remember. Give it 20 years and the trees will be grown to adulthood, the wetlands established, and this park will truly be beautiful and perfectly located.

Closed most of the week, but on Sundays, it's the best place to be. Kid friendly, good beer, beautiful outdoor atmosphere- Boxcar is one of the best spots in Gainesville.

Fun relaxing place to grab a drink

Friendly and chill outdoor bar. Decent but not expansive wine and beer selection. Overlooks Depot Park. Close by/adjacent food truck if snacks are desired. Free WiFi. Very family friendly. Parking can be tight unless you walk over from one of the parks. Be forewarned, once the sun sets the mosquitos come out and the whole place is open to the outdoors.

Had a fun time watching local comedy acts and enjoying what they had on tap. Easy going atmosphere with fans outside to beat the heat. Near the bus depot, so there was a bit of loud traffic to disturb the otherwise great environment.

Good beer selection. Bilard tables in great condition. Clean bathrooms. Shares the backyard with Boca. They do shows regularly.

Great place...karaoke beer and good time

I seem to find a reason to stop by Boxcar when I'm in Gainesville. Maybe because it's housed in an old train depot (I'm a nerd like that), maybe because it's surrounded a beautiful vibrant park, or maybe just because it's cool. Cool in a very laid back, come on in an have a beer and relax kinda way. If you wanna laugh, come out on the first Friday and enjoy some comedy. You wanna let out your inner rockstar, come out on Thursday for karaoke. (Check their Facebook page for DJ's & local band performances too). Or if you just wanna hang out and let the day peacefully pass into the night while you're watching downtown G'ville start to take life - this place is cool. They do have food options and Humble Woodfire Pizza is parked right outside and Pop-a-Top is a few steps away. I like to grab something local (especially tamales from Tamal) and pick a spot to sit down and enjoy with a cold local brew (especially a 72 from First Magnitude). Depot Park is an amazing place to visit and Boxcar is a great way to finish out that visit on a high note!
