This used to be our favorite restaurant. We loved ordering the feature salad and the tuna appetizer. Usually we would each order the Carpaccio dish but things have changed. The ravoli used to come out of the kitchen slightly warm with a delicous jammy egg yolk filling. The meat is sliced paperthin and is garnished with baby green and these delicous fried capers. Over the last six to eight months our pasta has been served cold and undercooked. I'm sure it's easier to pre make this dish but unless they start dipping that pasta again to warm and finish the cooking process, I won't be ordering again.

Wow... just go. Won't regret it.

A bit pricey for the amount of food you get, but it was good.

We had a great experience at Brick and Mortar. I had the Branzino dish, and my friend had the B&M Burger. Both dishes were delicious!

The food is amazing here! Ordered a lot of shared plates and everything was so delicious. Recommend the carpaccio of beef tenderloin with house made ravioli, the charcuterie board, the pulled pork poutine, the duck, the braised short rib and fat noodles, and the tuna tartar. Also loved the vibe and service. Definitely hope to go back soon.

I absolutely love this little spot. I ordered the braised short rib with homemade "fat" noodles. It was amazing. The addition of the mint was *chefs kiss.* I also had a pear and basil panacotta that was excellent. I'd definitely recommend eating here. It is pricey but totally worth it, in my opinion. The service was great.

Food was incredible. Very unique dishes, fairly good sized dishes, and the short ribs with fat noodles was truly one of the most incredible dishes I've had in a long time. Definitely coming back!

I love coming here! The staff is very attentive and kind. We shared the octopus and gambas ajillo, both were fantastic!

I recently had dinner at Break and Mortar and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. The food was spectacular; we started with the grilled octopus appetizer, which was splendid. My husband had the shirt rib while I enjoyed the branzino, both of which were great. However, there were a few aspects that detracted from the overall experience. Unfortunately, we felt a bit of a rash afterwards, which wasn’t a great feeling. Additionally, unlike many other restaurants I’ve visited, Break and Mortar charges for bread, which took away from the welcoming atmosphere that a complimentary bread basket typically provides. While the food at Break and Mortar is undeniably delicious, I’m not sure it’s the place I would choose to hang out for a long while.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! We are from Orlando celebrating a birthday and stopped by to get a bite and our BURGERS were amazing. We both got the b&m burger but I asked for modifications to mine (add tomatoes, lettuce, add avocado & no cheese) and they were able to make it work! Didn’t regret it at all AND the truffle fries were well seasoned. I didn’t even need to ask for salt or pepper for my whole meal (and as a Caribbean… I usually do, LOL) — Server was OKAY

This place was super cute and the service was great. We got the carpaccio - which I would high recommend. Their burger was amazing too.

Really good spot with good food and great service

This place deserves more than 4.6 average . We had the charred octopus and the steam mussels . Absolutely delicious . Highly recommend if you are in St Pete

I had a very bad experience over there a few days ago, I was having dinner with my 6 year old daughter, and they asked me to pay 5$ extra to replace their extremely soggy bun they gave me. It was the owner/chef himself that insisted on it, so I would never recommend this place, just awful.

Great food, great service, and a nice environment

Food, save your money, eat at home. Farm board had moldy fuzzy cheese. Made mostly of pickled veggies. The carpaccio ravioli not cooked all the way. Fiancée had the Black Grouper meal. Fish wasn't cooked the whole way. Changed an order to the burger and truffle fries. Ordered Medium Rare. Came out warm tartar. The Service Staff and Manager were good. Hope others if you come have a better experience. And the homeless and Marijuana are not desired. But that isn't there fault.

Oh. My. Gosh. Brick and Mortar in downtown St. Pete is a culinary wonderland! The moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. Let’s talk about the beef carpaccio – it’s like a flavor explosion in your mouth! Imagine a fireworks display, but for your taste buds. It was so good, I nearly called the fire department to report a delicious emergency. And then there was the curry seafood bouillabaisse. Wow. Just WOW. The spice level was perfect – not too hot, not too mild – just right, like Goldilocks would’ve said if she had tried it. I think I might have actually shed a tear of joy. Seriously, it’s like the chef sprinkled a little bit of magic in there. If you haven't been to Brick and Mortar yet, what are you waiting for? Go, eat, laugh, cry (from joy), and thank me later.

We had a spectacular meal here. The highlights for me were the curried mussels and Branzino. I can’t believe I don’t eat here every week. I need to change that…

Wow an unexpected find 😍 daughter has been bragging about their best burgers in town. I've heard good things but thought it would be too busy not taking reservations. Walked in got seated right away. Fabulous service, I had steak and fries omg fabulous. Daughter had burger 🍔 great smokey flavor amazing parmesan truffle fries. But wait. Bread pudding fabulous and lavender basil Panna cotta to die for! Definitely moved up on my list of top places

Fantastic good, service, and atmosphere. We came here for our son's birthday and had a great experience. The have unique, high-quality dishes that won't disappoint.

This was the best burger iv ever had … the meat melts in your mouth and with it being filet/short rib it makes for the best tasting meat . Mixed with that aioli sauce it just explodes in flavor. Top it with the amazing truffle fries it’s my favorite meal in st pete hands down.

Can’t rate the food because we were seated outside and nobody came to say hello or bring menus for 15 minutes so we got up and left! Construction going on next door so atmosphere sucks

Rarely do I leave a review. And most restaurants I find something wrong, at least in combination: food/price/service/ambience. This was a great choice, first time here. Had the rib/pasta, wife the burger. Very good. Food came promptly, came and asked several times how things were, and just let us sit and talk after dinner, and it was a busy Friday early evening.

Small, read intimate, but comfortable. The noise level was often high, this making it difficult to hear the person across the table. After ordering, food came out quickly and, hit and perfectly cooked and seasoned The mussels especially were a winner. The wait staff, our waiter, was only attentive when it came to taking our order, after that he disappeared. By the end of the meal and a few minutes of talking, we still had several empty plates on the table and water glasses that had never been refilled. Prices were moderate to high so we all expected a lot. The food did not disappoint, but as for our waiter, not so much. At best staff was a three. I'd try it once more but then again maybe not. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area.

Met some friends here and we really enjoyed our meals. Nice location and solid atmosphere along with an impressive menu. Duck confit was very good as were the other dishes my party ordered. Food was served quickly and a variety of the staff filled water, cleaned empty dishes and overall worked as a team. Good vibes.

Running review: Great salad with added chicken and of course good wine! Lovely day to sit outside. What a great seasonal as well as artisanal restaurant. Service was knowledgeable & great, had the octopus, salmon special and donut bread desert. Yum, great memorable flavors. Rest areas accessible but through the shared business atrium space. I’ll be back, often!

Consistently one of the best restaurants in St Pete, still hangs with the new restaurants on their classics(the freaking burger, my god, and the fat noodles) and inventive specials. Right up there with bin 6, calida and lingr as one of my favorite restaurants.

I agree with the bad reviews, the hallway over flow is an afterthought, cold way to crunchy fries that seemed like air fried, and cold cooked raw chewy fresh pasta. As a home chef, it's a gift and a curse to know good food. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I cook better on a bad night. I even told the waitress that the pasta wasn't cooked properly and she argued with me that fresh pasta was supposed to be chewy. Save your money unless you want to be harassed by the homeless as you exit the restaurant.

This is our go to place for special dinners. We are going this weekend!

What a disappointment. Burger was not good fries odd. St Petersburg step upI shouldn't have to spend 90 dollars plus tip for a low quality meal.

Great food! Went for my wife's birthday. Two of us had the bouillabaisse, wife had the short ribs and other guest had the cou cous. Universal raves for all those dish's. For desert the fresh brewed coffee was great, citrus tart a little key limey was also great. My only disappointment was the bread pudding. A while back, possibly pre Covid I had the most wonderful bread pudding I have ever had. I don't remember the flavor, just that it was amazing. Frankly the present day "donut bread pudding" was disappointing, a little dry. I think my memory of the previous version added to my disappointment. Regardless, even with no previous memory I wouldn't order it again. Despite the bread pudding disappointment, the meal was wonderful and we are looking forward to returning.

Nice atmosphere, but that’s pretty much all I can say about this place. My Pasta All’Amatriciana (one of the simpler, most flavorful Italian dishes that can be made) was more like an expensive flavorless interpretation from the chef on what he thought that dish should be like - with mostly the wrong ingredients. My friends’ food didn’t get rave reviews either.

Wow! An amazing dinner, outstanding service- a perfect meal. I asked some questions about what wine would be best for me based on my preferences for sweetness and the wine recommend was great. Service was great, and waters were always filled. Following, we had a salad special with fresh burrata and citrus fruit which was fabulous. I loved the flavors, textures and crunch. For dinner my husband had the lamb which he loved. It was plated beautifully and cooked perfectly. For me, I got the short rib entree. Honestly it was one of the best meals I have had. Maybe because it had all of my favorite foods in one dish, or maybe because the flavors and pull apart short rib were so so great. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great place, I been coming here 5 years. Just wish they would change the menu up a bit. I don’t want them to get ride if some tasty stuff but at least a special menu

The service was great and raw oysters were well priced. The wine selection is good but a French Chardonnay wood be a welcome addition! We enjoyed everything about our dinner at this cozy bistro especially the Octopus but long for their delicious chocolate cake desert we had some moons ago. Have to go back for that!!

There was a review about the burger blowing your balls off. You won't miss them. Order it. We also have the Ravioli, shrimp, and poutine appetizers. Pick what body parts blow off for those cause its that good. This was so fantastic.

I cannot say enough things about the food!!! They have the most amazing burger ever! From the unique blend of meat to the pretzel bun, this is definitely the best burger I have ever had! But their filet is also fantastic and I absolutely love their beef carpaccio, which comes with a ravioli on top that is filled with an over easy egg yolk and goat cheese. Definitely a must try in downtown St. Pete!

I was fortunate enough to visit establishments as part of our Management holiday dinner party! The vibe is perfection with the dim lighting & cozy atmosphere. Not to mention, the food was spectacular! In the heart of downtown, St. Petersburg, Florida, you will find a restaurant that has it all; amazing service, quality food, and a vibe that fits any occasion!

In St Pete on business and had dinner downtown. The menu here was slightly limited but I was able to find something satisfactory. I had a cheeseburger. It was not the best cheeseburger I’ve ever had but it was high quality and hit the spot. This is a quiet place to have dinner downtown. The service was great. Definitely a clean and well run restaurant. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.

I wanted to like this place. The server was fantastic. My meal was the burger and it was good. The selection is not my cup of tea. Nothing straightforward or items loaded with things that don’t compliment the entree in my opinion.

What’s up with the really grumpy service? Maybe off night? We’ve been coming here since they opened and everyone but the waitress with the red hair (she’s very sweet and professional) cannot manage to treat their customers courteously. Being greeted by a grumpy host sure starts out a dinner right… not. The food was fantastic as always but honestly, I’m not sure if it’s worth being treated with disdain. The overflow room needs some major work. People don’t want to pay good money to feel like they’re stowed away in a random hallway with the ambiance of a dilapidated 1970s farmhouse.

I ate here in June 2023 and three months later, I've thought about it multiple times. Dang it was so good. Best carpaccio I've ever had. Freshest pasta, SO GOOD, would absolutely order again. Husband had the burger, also tasted amazing. Ambiance is great, it's a tiny place with not a lot of tables, and service was very good. Great wine also. 5/5

20 some dollars for a hamburger is a little steep but your paying for location and atmosphere. Very nice place but it’s more for social gatherings who drink. Was wanting chicken dish that was on online menu but was told there it hasn’t been on menu for years. So don’t look at online menu before going there.

This was a terrific find. Good food, ok wines but a decent adult beverage selection. The mushrooms in my pasta were very dry, almost like stale bread. But everything else was fantastic.

Appetizers were perfect. Main entrée was awful. We ordered 2 different pasta dishes and both were terrible. One tasted like canned Chef Boyarde and the other was too sweet. Disappointing. Ruined the evening. Felt like the Chef never tasted the food, entrée quality was abysmal. But if you go, you should be ok with Appetizers and cocktails. Best Carpaccio, creative and delicious. Definitely not made by the same cook of the entrées.

Best restaurant in st pete! UPDATE 9.13.23 BnM hosted my engagement dinner for 60 people over labor day weekend. They were amazing to work with in curating such a great menu and wine selections and set up for our guests. The food was on point like always and the staff were great! Just when I thought this place couldnt be better than it was, they helped make my special day go off perfectly!

I was extremely disappointed. A hamburger and 2 glasses of wine was $60. Truffle fries were cold but the pretzel bun was nice. Music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation or even think.

A fun menu with a great knowledgeable staff! Thank you to the chefs for giving us a wonderful experience! We still rave about it! The carbonara was exquisite!

Still the standard bearer in DTSP. Bar none, the most consistently excellent food served in the area. I have yet to have a "miss" on the menu and each and every special we've tried has been superb. Wine menu is small but interesting. The donut bread pudding is worth a visit on its own (as in, even if you have dinner somewhere nearby, go here for dessert, no really). Service is professional and well informed.

Brick & Mortar has an unfortunate disconnect between the delicious sounding dishes on the menu and the food that was actually presented. The bouillabaisse was well prepared, but lacked the Thai flavor bomb that I was expecting from the dishes description. The I kept wanting to scoop up more broth hoping the flavors would kick in. The low point of our meal was the braised short rib with fat noodles. I found the tomatoes and Brussels sprouts to really clash with the overall composition of the dish. I’m not sure why they were placed together. The carpaccio of beef tenderloin may have been the winner, but I wish the stuffed ravioli was softer in texture. The off the mark food, along with the hard surfaced and confined interior spaces didn’t quite do it for me.

First visit all around good with gambas, duck and pasta. Next visit around 9:30pm. Corn appetizer good with nice flavors and great choice of chiles, but crab was over-salted. Veal was tough and too cool on the inside (think refrigerator taste) sitting on steaming hot squash, which was too watery and not flavorful. It was hard to eat it the way it was plated. I'm tired of seeing arugula for salad, but it was ok. And, the pasta dish had what seemed to be reheated chicken from the pan. It was blackened, super dry and salty. Pasta sauce good. My guess is we arrived after the chef left for the night. Nice wine selection. Probably won't go back without some sort of reasonable explanation.

Delightful. The service and food and atmosphere was all so amazing. Just a nice place with exceptional food and super reasonable prices. This is probably one of my top 3 fav places in st pete now.

Really loved this place. I was a bit intimidated by the prices at first, but they're justified by the serving sizes. I started with the tuna tartare, which was pretty sizable. The tuna, shrimp chips, kimchi and wasabi aioli were great. The accompanying candied ginger was a bit sweet for me (and they give you a lot), but it was still decent. The thing I really like and appreciate about the tuna tartare is that everything on the plate isn't piled on top of one another; I could make my own bite. At the recommendation of my waitress, I got the bouillabaisse for my main. It's really good. Like, REALLY good. The broth is something else. I'm not much of a lemongrass person, to be honest, but their application of it was fantastic. The seafood they use was also very well cooked. Can't recommend the bouillabaisse enough. I have a feeling I'm gonna be chasing that kind of flavor if I order bouillabaisse from a different restaurant in the future. I wrapped up with the citrus tart, which was described to me as sort of like a Key lime pie. It was straight up excellent. I think what pushed this place over the edge for me was the service. My waitress, I think her name was Tricia, was so attentive and knowledgeable. I never felt rushed, or talked down to for asking questions. In fact, thinking back on it, the entire staff was super chill and nice. I would 100% go back there again, the whole experience was super positive. My only regret is not taking photos of my food.

My significant other loves this restaurant

I usually do not review but after all the hype I have to say something… out of 4 dishes not a thing was even mediocre… none of the pasta was cooked; chewy and cold, everything tasted like salt a ton of salt. We did not finish even 1 dish left more than 1/2 on each plate…. No one bothered to ask if it was good or if there was a problem. Literally left there and went to Toss and had an amazing salad. I love food and good food but after shopping in St Pete and the shop owners telling us to go here I was so disappointed. It seems like a place trying to hard to be hip and cool maybe it was an off night but it was a Friday and they had just opened 30 minutes prior.

Not good. Overpriced and the service was mediocre. We ordered a salad and it was 90% lettuce. We also ordered the shrimp, and it was 90% beans with 6 tiny shrimp. It was disappointing.

We had confirmed a private event for 12 and three hours before our sitting, we needed to add 4; Kyle and staff were awesome at accomodating the extra 4. And let's not forget the food, EVERYONE was elated with their selections. As for dessert, the hands down winner was the bread pudding. Finally, the cost was surprisingly reasonable for 16; with a 25% tip the cost per person was than $75 (and that's including wine & dessert). This was a 5 STAR dinning experience!!!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Downtown St. Pete. The food is delicious! They have the freshest ingredients and the wine selection is always the best. It's the perfect culinary treat for date night!

A friend of us recommended this place. This restaurant is a GEM! I totally recommend it. Food was exquisite, customer service on point, price was according to the quality of the food! I ordered the filet and truffle fries. My husband ordered the fish of the day. It was really delicious. We also ordered the mussels (omg, this was too much! So rich and tasty. I will totally come back just for this plate). Dessert, I had the glazed donut bread pudding and my husband the basil and lavender panacotta. It was a delicious dinner, we were able to talk and enjoy ourselves even that the place had other people dinning. Please do yourself a favor when in town and visit this beautiful restaurant. Will come back for sure!

How disappointing. Anniversary dinner. $40 filet on a bed of old and cold fries. The butter and herbs had melted off the top of filet - stale in the window and all room temperature. Sent it back and the fries the second time around, not much better - a few hot and fresh fries mixed with the same fries from the before. The filet better but drowned in herbs, didn’t eat the fries. Way too expensive for a very mediocre (at best) meal.

Super chef-ing here! Everything was flawless. A pro staff delivering outstanding food and service. The B&M burger is easily one of the best in St. Pete. The Braised Short rib w/“fat” noodles is a hearty, unctuous dish that satisfies at a higher level. The Donut bread pudding is decadence heaven. A top-tier St. Pete restaurant.

We were at an event with friends in the area and decided to drop in based on the reviews. Even though we did not have reservations, we were able to get in immediately without one (around 6:30 in the evening). Both inside and outside dining is available, but it was a little cool and we chose to dine inside. They had two menus, one with their normal fare and the other with their specials. However, they were out of a few options on the specials menu which was disappointing for so early in the evening. My wife and I elected to go with the filet and truffle fries which were on their regular menu. The steak was prepared exactly as ordered and the truffle fries were the best we ever had. Service was good and we would recommend.

How, in the world is this place almost rated five stars. We were lucky enough to get a table… In the lobby. 15 minutes later somebody brought water to the table. And proceeded to take our order a few minutes later. Ordered one of the specials,… Waitress came back, saying they were all out. Ordered one of the wines off the menu, waitress came by another time saying they were all out of that. We ordered alternatives and proceeded to wait another 20 to 25 minutes. No ambience. No bread to the table. finally get our food… Well done burger was medium at best. Cavatelli straight out of the box. I’m guessing. Was lukewarm, mushrooms on top were cold. Almost no flavor. We were flabbergasted. Will not be back, especially after the waitress didn’t seem to care (we did get one of our substituted wines comped), but no manager came to our table to apologize. almost no food was eaten… We left hungry. So many better options elsewhere.
