Still a classic sub shop with the best potato salads

Best sub in town, relish is killer

We have been going to Williams Subs for years. They usually had very good subs. This time we first noticed that the staff wasn't at all friendly. Just matter of fact. The subs were on very stale rolls. My Italian Delight seemed to lack in size in comparison to what they used to be. It'll be quite awhile until we get another lunch there. I have read some more recent reviews. Maybe it is new ownership? Not what it used to be.

The new owners have ruined the food. Tuna Mac and potato salad were my favorites. They are terrible now. So so sad

I will truly miss eating at the Original Williams SS before new owners bought it, and after sampling 5 Sub’s. They’ve lost my biz as they aren’t even the same or better even. But, worse. Wimpy Subs, Way too much money for a bread sub. There are so many other better choices.

A St.Pete Gem. Nice hole in the wall, mom & pop sandwich shop. Amazing subs. Probably the best in town to be honest. Superb flavor & ingredients. Can't believe I passed this place for 30 yrs. Definitely a place to repeat visit for lunch.

65 years they have been around and this was my first time going. They had my order for four ready in like six minutes and there was a line to the door. Everybody was super nice and the food was fire and I will absolutely be back.

My parents used to take me when I was a little girl and I thought they were the best sandwich I ever ate. It has to be 50 years since I’ve been there. I’m a vegetarian now so I ordered their cheese sub. And it tasted the same way it did 50 years ago. I love their tomato onion spice oil! It’s unique to Williams and it still tastes the same! Great job! I recommend highly.

I have been going to Williams subs for 40 years, the service is always good the prices are fair and sub sandwiches are over-the-top on this particular visit I got the Yum Yum club sub oh so delicious should have got 2👍👍

If you’re looking for a family run, wholesome sub shop, this 65 year old gem is a must stop! Not much for sitting inside, most of their business is “to go”. They have an awesome Turkey Supreme with both provolone and shredded mozzarella and bacon…plus their famous hot pepper relish! Two large sandwiches is about $20 (7/24).

Came in today because i heard people say it’s good and they did not lie! Lady was very nice and informative, i got the turkey sub 10/10. Definitely would come back! Thank you for a great first experience

Me and girlfriend love subs!!! We love to try new sandwiches shops this place is awesome different than the regular sandwiches shops! Sandwiches was so good I got the yum yum club and loved it! My girlfriend got the turkey sub and she loved it as well!

The place was okay as usual but the quality of the food isn't the same . I was wondering do they have new owners you would except for the food to still have that same quality with the prices being so high for ex. coleslaw Large is almost $7.00 and the taste wasn't the same and that goes for the red skin potato salad as well.

Best sub place in town hands down!

Wanted a good Italian sandwich, people had very good things to say about this place so I thought I'd try it. My Italian sandwich was dry, and the roll not so good. All of the diced tomatoes that they put on it were on the top and fell out of the sandwich. I could have made a better sandwich at home. Too many other choices in the area, including Jersey Mike's across the street.

Very friendly staff. The sandwiches were good and fresh. I had potato salad. It was wonderful!

I asked for extra mayo and she was so sweet and gave me a side cup of mayo for me! Very thoughtful!

If a place has been in business for 65 years, they must be doing something right. What they are doing right is providing great tasting subs at a fair price- and that is a timeless option. Ordered the highly recommended Yum Yum sub and it was yummy.

Best subs in town, no lie! Had the turkey salad sub and it was to die for. Everything is fresh and the bread is so good. Legit chip selection. You GOTTA try the relish it is out of this world. The place hasn’t changed since the 90s and in a good way. Everyone was having a great time behind the counter and the food was done so fast.

Nothing beats a Williams Sub. Nothing.

Nice subs, but a "heated" sub is only microwaved, and that makes a warm, soggy bun. It would really make things better if they toasted their subs. They would go from 3 to 5 stars.

The employees you have there during the week day are awesome. But your weekend crew is horrible orders are wrong they don’t seem to care. Your business has been around for a long time locals are starting to notice this.

I’ve been coming here since middle school. The quality and service is still top notch. The Yum Yum club is my all time favorites.

They have some awesome homemade meatballs the first time I was there. They were ginormous! I just had their meatball sandwich again yesterday, and it seemed different. The meatballs were smaller and kind of tasted a little store bought. Otherwise I would have given the food a five star. Otherwise great service and atmosphere

Best sub sandwiches in town! The red relish they have just puts the sub over the top. It's just so good you could eat it on anything. Definitely recommend.

You don’t need atmosphere for the fabulous subs from William’s. The yum yum is delicious and one of their specialties. Get a sub (turkey supreme!) on a salad for a great carb-free and healthy treat!

Williams Sub Shop has a real mom and pop atmosphere. This eatery has been in Pinellas County for as long as I can remember. I believe they established around 1958. If you're in the area and looking for a good sandwich, please give them a try, and you'll enjoy it.

Not as good as it used to be...

We were told good things about your sub shop from people that have been going for decades so we tried it really wanting to like it. When we walked in the 2 ladies at the front were not very nice or attentive but we stayed anyways because it wasn't about them but the food we wanted to try. I got the Italian and my fiance got the roast beef. I thought it was good, that was until I woke up at almost exactly 12 hours later with it coming out of both ends of me. Not very pretty or something i want to happen again. Might have been a fluke but not willing to try again after throwing up for hours!

GF went in to order a yum yum salad. The 20yo behind the counter huffed and puffed and made it clear we were bothering her. Thinking she might be having a bad day we tipped $5. The salad is $9.xx. Grumpy pants only hands us back 17 cents saying we gave her a $10 when we gave her a 20. She wasn’t paying attention even when we ordered and then argued until the gf gave up. Got home and the salad was made wrong with key ingredients we specifically asked her not to put in the salad plus the wrong dressing. Incompetence is bad enough but to add that much attitude and anger is unacceptable. Not sure we will ever be back. Sad, as it one of our favorite sandwich shops.

I read great reviews and was excited to get a sub here! but… when I tried to call in an order, the individual that answered was incredibly rude. I recommend going to Gateway Subs, that’s where I went and not only was the sub delicious, the staff was so enjoyable!

Best place for subs. Try the yum yum it's delicious. I've gotten the turkey club all the way with bacon delicious. Good food good service Can't say enough about it.

Ordered two Italian delights. One with no ham due to allergy, and one with double meat with oil and vinegar. Upon arrival to sub shop I again questioned to make sure both orders were correct due to allergy... Young girl working there said "no ham I made it myself" ... Came back to hotel has ham in the sandwich. Ridiculous. My sandwich was soggy due to the over spread of oil in vinegar. Safe to say I will not be returning. Customer service was okay. But if looking for a true Italian grinder either stick to new England or go elsewhere. Such a shame. Drove 20 mins to throw out both sandwiches. The young girl was rude on the phone as well with a poor tone of voice and lied on a food allergy. All set.

Love the seafood sub. Been coming here for 3 years now and will keep coming back. Now after that review the sandwich maker was very rude. We said thank you and he didn't even reply with a your welcome or anything. If the food wasn't good I wouldn't come back here for the service. Companies around here have gone down hill for customer service

FAVORITE SUB SHOP! The bread is amazing as are the super fresh tomatoes! No pink tomatoes here. Always red and flavorful. I always get the roast beef, for 30 years now. My family gets turkey, tuna, Italian, and others. All are to die for. So, so good!

I have been going to William’s since I was a kid and have never had an experience like I did today. We walk in and order our sandwich to go. 1 yum yum. While we are waiting around 6 people that ordered after us had already gotten their food. In fact, while we were waiting another woman that had walked in and ordered well after us stated she can’t believe she got her sandwich before us, she didn’t seem too impressed with the level of service either based on her comments. My boyfriend inquired about our sandwich and was brushed off and told they are going to make it. He decided he had enough and went to sit in the car. I waited a few minutes and then I inquired about my sandwich and the young woman that was working responded with “we’ve been busy, you need to relax”. I explained I’ve waited over a half hour and that everyone eating in the shop had ordered after me. She continued to be nasty to me telling me to relax. Another customer in the restaurant didn’t appear to appreciate the way she was speaking to me and stated that I had been waiting patiently for over a half an hour and out of the more than 20 years he had been coming here he had never seen it this disorganized. I get mistakes happen and our ticket was lost in the shuffle of things but there is absolutely no excuse to treat a person the way this young woman did. I feel the other patrons in the restaurant felt similarly as it was quite shocking. In the end we didn’t get what we ordered exactly but at that point it didn’t matter, we just wanted to leave and be done with that experience.

We've been going here for many years. The two guys currently making sandwiches make Beavis and Butthead look like Rhoades Scholar's! I went in after they jacked up my wife's earlier order, stood there and watched them make two different sandwiches...the second they were wrapped, they forgot which was which! I had to unwrap mine in the car to see what mystery food I had. Sign of the times...

First time try. Got tuna sub and yum yum club. Safe to say that it was the best sub I’ve ever had! Will be frequently this place as a local.

My family has been eating here all my life (50yrs). My mom ate here as a child as well. (“I can remember when they were 25 cents”) One of my fondest childhood memories with my grandparents/ great-grandparents. And, the tradition continues with my children. Yes, 5 generations have enjoyed these subs. THANK YOU, for being around all these years and the wonderful memories made… My mouth is watering at the thought of these yummy subs. 🥰

They prepare subs to take away. Also you can it them at the bar but it is too small. The subs are pretty good.

I think the first time I bought a sub at William's Sub Shop has to be at least 50-years ago. They were the best back then and still are today. All of the ingredients are at their peak of freshness. I have so many favorites that it's hard to decide what to get. Off the cuff, I love the ham and cheese, the Roast Beef Supreme, the Yum Yum Club, the Regular, the Tuna Supreme...uhh what did I leave out! The subs are just great, and I love the ultra-fresh soft sub rolls that they use. They use dill relish that's outstanding. If that's not enough, I always take home some of their famous potato salad and usually a Greek Salad. Their Greek Salad is the best this side of Tarpon Spring. I've driven over 70 miles round trip for one of their subs. They are THAT good! Service is fast and friendly. While they do get busy at lunchtime, the wait isn't very long. There are a few tables for inside dining, but most people just take out their orders. These folks are long-time locals.Try it!

Worked there 10 or so years ago. Still there and still delicious. Favorites-yum yum,Italian,roast beef supreme. Can't go wrong with any of the menu items.
