I ate my food too fast to take a photo… love this place I found out about them when I first moved here and all their plates tastes like a good Sunday afternoon after church at your granny house. I love everything in that restaurant but the oxtail and smothered chicken is chefs kiss

The food was very good!! ☺️ We had the Fried Chicken, Smothered chicken and rice, Greens and yams.

If you haven't tried the breakfast then you are definitely missing out. They say breakfast is the.most important meal of the day. Well this breakfast definitely gives a boost of energy. Don't be stingy with yourself, get the two meats and all the bells and whistles. Good folks and recognize those that support their efforts!

Absolutely loved everything I got from here. My only knock on the food would be the oxtails. I have eaten them from Caribbean restaurants for so long that I just rather get from the Caribbean places versus this place.

Cafe express is always delicious great customer service, friendly workers feels more like you walked into your family's house greeted with a smile and might see someone you haven't seen in forever.

I've never had smothered pork chops and now my life is more complete. I could eat it with a spoon, so delicious.

Ordered breakfast, wasn't too good, took very long to receive pick up order, need to hire more professional, friendly employees to answer calls, mam that answered sounded rushed, made me feel rushed, person specifically to take phone orders needed here, even if it's PT..it would really help

Portion size was plentiful, and service was good.

The owner was very attentive and kind. The food we had was scrumptious! We ate the fried chicken plate and the fried pork chops plate. Their sides were yummy: candied yams and collard greens. The cornbread was fluffy and yummy! Definitely recommend you trying this place!

My boyfriend and I stopped here in April when we were in Baton Rouge because we wanted to try some authentic soul food. The food did not disappoint whatsoever! We are both from Canada and have never had American soul food and the food at Cafe Express lived up to all of my expectations. The place is no frills but the portions are heafty, the food is delicious and the staff are so sweet and kind ❤️ One tip I have though is GO EARLY! By the time we got there (after 1:00 pm) they were sold out of a lot of there stuff that we would have loved to try-next time we are in Louisiana we will be sure to come by for an early lunch!

I really enjoyed my experience at this local black owned eatery. The food was delicious, cost efficient & the service was also very welcoming and warm. I will be returning and plan to become a regular customer! Thanks for the delicious food!

The Cafe is excellent. I received a thin-cut, freshly prepared, properly seasoned pork chop along with grits, scrambled eggs, toast, and a beverage. The customer service is also really fantastic. Recomended

When I visit Baton Rouge LA, I make it my business to stop by for that good old HOME cooking. Fried Fish with 2 side of Collard green river and gravy, and Turkey wing potatoes salad with sweet peas All way on POINT ☝️

Made directly in front of you fresh by a kitchen magician?! Café Express is the kind of food and atmosphere everyone wishes for in their heart. One of my favorites! I was a little disappointed for the first time; the gravy was watery, cornbread was weird and falling apart and the cabbage tasted like nothing. It was just a bad day though because the plates are usually 🔥. I'll definitely be going back.

Loved it. Loved it. And I'll say it again..... Loved it. This is a place that's had everything imaginable fried in the kitchen (with love). I had a tough time choosing from the many offerings do I ordered two plates. Hey, don't judge, I saved one for dinner! The catfish was fried perfectly, the smothered pork chop was tender, the greens were good, the corn bread was sweet, and the potato salad was just right. There's not a lot of seating inside and most people are not there to dine in, they're just waiting on their orders. With that said, you may want to order ahead. In any case you can't go wrong and I suggest ordering two plates anyway. 😉

Like there good old Soul Food and different variety

I used to go here in high school a lot because it was close by and I remember getting this dish with pasta shells and basil pesto sauce with pine nuts and it was pretty darn yummy, but as I browsed the menu in hopes of rekindling that love today, it seems they don't have it anymore!! Whatever, because what I had today was eeeexcellent! I opted for the combination, which I often do at lunch places, which consisted of soup, salad, and a petite sandwich for $7.99! Not too shabby a price. I ordered the southwestern chili soup, spring mixed greens salad, and the chicken salad sandwich.
