Great atmosphere and the steak was amazing. We sat at the bar and had a great time. This will be a stop everytime we are in Pierre SD.

The steaks here are exceptional and the service is top notch.

Excellent service and food. Being from the beef state (NE) the filet was fantastic.

Over cooked steak. Had waitress ask kitchen if it was overcooked and they said it was, but it was somehow my fault for not ordering it rare and having them reheat it to the medium rare I actually wanted. Beer was cold.

It's a very basic menu place. Sirloin was decent. Cook on steak was decent a more done then I liked but not enough to send back. I am sure with what they say they would have redone it. Salad was a good with little toppings box they bring out. Toast was ok. Drinks were reasonably prices. Chocolate cake was good. A little high priced for what I got medium to med well should have been a medium but it was also a thicker cut. Waitress and bar people were are really nice and attentive.

Traveling around the USA 4 times, I must say I love this part of South Dakota (Pierre). This restaurant was highly recommended by some locals so we gave it a try. Unfortunately my steak was overcooked the first time, they tried to cook me another one and it was overcooked again. I told the waitress and she replay that they "stayed in their menu" that they don't guaranteed the outcome of how the steak come out after is cook! What? This is a steak restaurant! Requested to speak with the owner, she was rude and uncaring, basically her answer was take it or take it, no even an apology about the inconvenience. It was a poor ending of a highly recommended place.

Great service. We were a party of 23 with two birthdays and they did great. The food was tasty. We really liked that we could add our own toppings for the side salads.

10 stars! This was our 2nd fishing trip to Pierre and this place is a must stop with great food and very nice people, you can tell by the customers that this is a local go to for great experience!!

We're in town once a year and this is a must stop. Love the prime rib and aujus they make. It's the only thing I've ever ordered and will order. Sawdust on the floor. Big windows overlooking the river. It's a fun place to eat. It's louder them most restaraunts, I like this because if the kids make noise it's not embarrassing like a fancy steakhouse.

Hands down best prime rib we have ever enjoyed. Texture and taste was pure perfection!

This is one of the BEST steak restaurants I’ve ever been to. My husband and I were traveling through and stopped. The view was beautiful from our table. Our server, Danielle was so helpful and was attentive and the food was fantastic. Here’s hoping we are back that way again soon. Thanks for the wonderful food and service.

I don't eat beef often, but this was very delicious.

Longest wait we ever have had. So many tables seated before ours and many had arrived after and were the same size as our party. After many times checking with staff-told over and over 15 minutes. Then once seated, long wait for food due to a party upstairs.

Best times to arrive are right away at 5 or 730ish. We showed up at 6. Waited about 45 minutes for a table. Understandable on a weekend. After being seated, waited 90 minutes for our food. Prime rib was excellent. All 3 steaks were overdone. They offered to cook them again, but we didn't want to wait another hour for food. It was already late and we had kids with us. Discussed with management who offered no discount. Apparently the only choice is to get the steaks redone at 8:30 at night. Remember why we go to other steak places in town.

Got the 16oz boneless ribeye it was tender and seasoned and cooked to perfection

Love this place. I always get my food quickly and for a reasonable price. Not cheap but well worth the money.

Great food, service and atmosphere!

Welp, after $150...I'm confused as to what all the hype is about.🤔 We got the prime and the boneless ribeye. Prime was ALL fat. For $40, it should be marbled, not pure fat chunks. Ribeye was oddly cut and incredibly chewy. The dogs enjoyed their $100 of steak we took home. Our server was awesome, tables were touching, and food was not worth it. It was Christmas time so we did not complain but I really was not impressed or even slightly satisfied.😕

I recommend getting there 20 minutes before they open because they fill up within 15 minutes and remain super busy. Yes, it's that good!!

Our waitress was awesome, but our food took over 30 minutes after we ordered it. Steak tasted good but was overcooked and a little tough for a ribeye. They were busy so I would give another chance next time we are in Pierre.

After driving 10 hours, the food, service and atmosphere were what we needed and appreciated! We actually drove 1.5 hours out of our way because my spouse said he LOVED it here before. Key point: —they don’t take reservations. Don’t worry they have a large waiting area inside. So grab a drink and enjoy the free smells. We only waited 30 min after arriving on a Wednesday night at 730pm. Not only did our server (we believe her name was Cindy) do a fantastic job but the owner Cindy herself came over to check on the meal and how we were doing. That doesn’t happen at very many places anymore! Love the story of how this restaurant came to be. From one small business owner to another… KEEP ROCKING IT!

Came to Pierre for some pheasant hunting. Cattleman’s was suggested by a good friend , tell you what I did not disappoint will be back every year I’m out here for hunting. Highly recommend

The food was delicious, and the drinks were even better

We had the prime rib, it was thick cut moist and tender. the baked potato was large and the drinks were cold. The view of the lake was beautiful. I am just not a fan of the wood chips on the floor.

This is not a five star restaurant, it deserves at least six stars ⭐️‼️ A group of six of us (best friends) rendezvoused in Pierre for a few days of rest and relaxation. We all loved 🥰 this restaurant so much we ate there 2 consecutive nights, and that has never happened before with our group, ever ‼️(and we travel all over North America 🇺🇸) The steaks were the best ever and the service was impeccable……. just first class in every way‼️ Of course this start & stops at the top and that’s Cindy Arch, Manager and Owner. Worst dining experience ever. I ordered 20oz prime rib and received a steak that was at least 30% fat. It was disgusting to even look at. I informed the waitress, she left and returned insistent that I take it. I refused explaining that I don’t want all that fat. I ordered STEAK. She left, then the owner, Cindy (tall white-haired female), came back with the steak flipped over on the plate insisting that all prime rib is like that. I explained that I have eaten many and never had one served with so much fat. I mentioned I would pay for 20oz steak not fat. Her reply was that she has to pay for the fat! She even suggested I feed it to my dog. UNBELIEVABLE!!! She bragged that their steaks were world famous and definitively stated I was going to pay for it whether I wanted it or not. In order to avoid what appeared to be a situation that would involve law enforcement, I paid and left the waitress a $30 tip…poor thing seemed to be doing her best in a very awkward situation. I gave atmosphere 2 stars, because she was so polite. Also, the side items are small…maybe 10-15 sweet potato fries. If you order the baked yam, they cut one potato into maybe three pieces and bring you 1/3 of it. What a shame. Anyhow, if you eat fat, you’ll love this place. If I pay $43 for a steak dinner, I expect more than what was forced on me. I trimmed all the fat away and left it; it literally filled the plate (see photo). I had a much better experience at The Longbranch Restaurant & Bar in Pierre. It may not be world renowned but great service and respect for customers. See review.

I just went to this restaurant with a friend of mine and my friend ordered a prime rib and it was full of fat. She told the waitress that she did not want it at all. She hadn’t even taken a single bite from it. The waitress said ok and retrieved the steak. Shortly, the owner a tall white lady came and brought the same steak and proceeds by saying “I flipped it around, none of this is fat”. I don’t understand what had just happened as my friend politely had told the waitress that she just didn’t want the steak. My friend tells the owner, that she still does not want the steak and the owner was in my opinion pushy and passive aggressive. I guess the owner has not realized that the key to a successful business is to try to fix the situation instead of adding more fuel to the problem and to try to provide an alternate option to the customer in order to have a better outcome. The owner kept forcing the steak on my friend and my friend said that she does not want to pay for a steak that she has not and will not consume. The owner stated “ you have to pay for it”. I’ve never seen an owner of any establishment force a customer to pay for a meal that has not been touched and immediately returned. My friend paid for the steak but the owner was extremely rude and just because of the way she acted and addressed the situation has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It was uncalled for the owner to come at my friend and demand to pay for a steak that she didn’t want. That owner needs to learn how to treat customers. I will most certainly not return to this establishment.The waitress was nice and professional but I can’t say the same about the so called owner of Cattleman’s.

This was the most delicious food. They had a good NA beer selection, too. The steak was perfect, which isnhard to do. The baked potato was not over cooked like most are. I wish I could have taken steak home with me. Our waitstaff was Danielle and she was an absolute joy!

The prime rib is a top notch meal. I've had it in some of the best places and haven't found anything that even compares to the one I get from the cattlemens club in Pierre South Dakota. I make it a habit to eat here whenever I'm in the area since 1998 .

Hands down the best steak I have ever had.

I used to travel to Pierre several times a year for work. Never missed a chance to eat at CC. I am retired now and don't get to Pierre. I don't miss work, but I sure do miss the Cattleman's Club. Five years ago, we detoured all the way up from I-90, just to return. It is simply my favorite restaurant, period.

Really great. I loved the place. the person who attended us on the second floor was super friendly despite our laughter, since as Mexicans you know that we laugh at everything and talk a lot when we meet. As for the food, they honestly did not disappoint me, since I have visited other restaurants here in the United States and in all of them whenever I have ordered a T-bond, rib-eye, NY the steaks leave a lot to be desired, but this time I went from that place very satisfied by the flavor and texture of the steaks. Cattleman's is the best place to go for an amazing steak. All staff are very friendly and very prompt. Expect to wait to be seated, but you can enjoy the friendly atmosphere and a drink while you wait. I recommend this steak house to everyone!!!

Overall pretty solid food, but my steak was overcooked, which is a little bit of a problem for a place that specializes in it.

First of all this place was PACKED and we still got exalent service and one of the best ribeyes iv ever had! Can't recommend this place enough!

Going to Cattlemen's is a must-do whenever we come back to Pierre for a visit or for hunting. We stopped in recently and had the "Ron's Pile" and I really enjoyed it very much. Lots of food so come hungry! I used to live in Pierre for several years back in the early 90's and came here then and let me tell you the food is still great. THE best place for a steak bar none. If you're in the area - give them a shot, you won't be sorry. The staff are always very pleasant.

Really good cuts of meat and can get some huge steaks. Steaks cooked really nice as well....the only way you should order a steak rare or medium rare.

Staff was very friendly and checked in on the table frequently. The steak is hard to beat for the price point and flavor. The soup of the day was chicken tortilla which was served warm and had great flavor. Paired with a saddle bronc ale the overall flavor and atmosphere is well worth it.

Excellent food and organized service. Showed up with a table of 8 with no reservations and they had us seated within 3 minutes. Had a sirloin cooked perfectly to my request and seasoned so no extra salt, pepper, or sauce was even close to being necessary. Everyone in our party was pleased.

Highly recommend that you visit! Great atmosphere, service was fantastic and the food is outstanding! (Little note for your kids; the American potatoes are not french fries just incase you have picky eaters.) The prime rib was AMAZING!

Always a favorite stop when visiting Pierre for fishing or kid's sports. Cattleman's Club has lots of parking, friendly and attentive servers and hosts. The bar has a great selection of bourbons at prices that don't break the bank. The chislic and the cowboy bites were great appetizers and the steaks were good. The last 2 visits I've ordered my steak medium but it has come well-done or medium-well in spots this last time. I recommend ordering the sirloin no more than medium-rare. The seasoning on the steaks is great and the side options are great. You definitely won't leave the Cattleman's Club hungry. I highly recommend this as a must stop location for Pierre.

The steak was some of the best I have had in long time. The service was top knotch despite being really busy when I was there. Full bar with very knowledgeable bar tenders.

Ribeye is always good, one of the best in the state, don't plan on running a marathon when ur done, u will b full!

We moved away from Pierre in 2007 and this was our first time back to Cattleman's and we were not disappointed. We had an excellent prime rib and added some shrimp. Like we remembered, the food was awesome. And equally impressive was the staff. They have always been professional and friendly. The combination of food and staff make this one of the best places to eat in Pierre!

I gave this place 5 stars because the food is 4.5 and the service and attitudes of the workers was 6. Will definitely go again before I leave SD. My daughter and I enjoyed our experience and the food.
