An appreciative shout out to convict lake resort and the awesome staff that play a role in making this place so special. Every time we come up to mammoth, we always camp here due to the accessibility to the resort and it’s amenities. The amenities that are offered are seriously unbeatable and with how much things have changed over the past few years, we can always count on convict lake resort to make our trip to mammoth feel like old times. Andrew, the maintenance guy, thank you for your hard work for making sure we have clean and functioning amenities. Chris the GM, thank you for your hard work and dedication!

The location is about the only thing this Place has going for it. We stopped to have lunch and use the restroom. The restrooms were dirty. The service was fair at best. The grill was good. I can say that after we spent over $100 having lunch, I went back into the general store since there is no cell service there and asked if I could use the Wi-Fi, they wanted five dollars Wi-Fi for guest only so this is how they treat their guests for lunch . I won’t go back. It doesn’t cost them anything to let someone use their Wi-Fi for five minutes.

Great little cabins, awesome staff at the general store. Location can't be beat! Pizza was just ok at the restaurant.

My husband and I had an amazing time when we stayed here for our wedding. The rooms were so clean, the staff was very kind, and Pete got us dialed in. Would recommend this resort to anyone!

Another of the Jewels of the area. Incredible view of the lake behind. The cava is incredible, and although it seems expensive, we paid $57 for that magnificent meal, wine included!

Every year we looked forward to our week at Convict Lake. It's been 20 years since we were there. I'm coming back in 2024,can't wait. The fishing was great and horseback riding. I hope that's still there. The cabins look updated in pictures. Always great memories there!!

rustic cabins on dirt roads. evey cabin has a jacuzzi. staff is friendly and helpful. we have been here twice and it was fun with my family. all of the bedrooms are stacked with beds. we had a 6 bedroom house and it slept 35 people.

Very well cooked food, everything. Whatever you get from the Scallops to the Duck or Steak. Perfectly cooked. Don’t miss the clay pot roasted garlic clove.

One of the most amazing and spectacular mountain lake views to eat at in the Owens Valley! I can highly recommend it!

I'm a wedding photographer based in Mammoth and I've had the good fortune to shoot countless weddings at Convict Lake over the years and it's literally the quintessential California mountain wedding venue. The setting in that canyon is going to blow your guests away and it's no secret that the food at Convict is probably the best in the Eastern Sierra. It's great anytime between May-October, but my personal preference is the first few weeks in October when the weather is typically still pretty nice but the trees at the ceremony venue and at the lake have started to turn orange and there may be a touch of snow on the mountains above the lake. I can't recommend this place enough for your wedding.

Great spot! Oct 15-31 it was first come first serve. all the campsites were $29 at the pay station. There's an unbelievably good restaurant and cabins. I missed the sunset but got up early to catch the sun coming over the mountains. There's a short road to the parking lot with a trailhead that goes around the lake. There's a marina with rentals and picnic tables down by the water for fishing. There's also a cafe for breakfast and lunch I believe. Camped for two nights this July. Has its ups and downs, though the ups way outnumber the downs. On the positive side, the imposing view of Mt. Morrison and surrounding peaks has to be seen to be believed, and the trail that surrounds the lake offers a ton of bang for 3 mostly flat miles. We got to watch a successful hellicopter rescue from the mountain. The lake itself is lovely and, though there isn't a "beach", there's a ton of private nooks easily accessable from the road. The location can't be beat, short drives to the Little Lakes trail, Mammoth Lakes, hot springs and the Hot Creek Geologic site. The cons, while there is plenty of convenience at the "resort", it is expensive and unreliable. Showers and laundry facilities weren't working consistently, and grocery order of a 6 pack, some water, a couple of sodas and ice set me back about $30. The resort is also home to weddings and, while they do respect what appears to be a 10 PM quiet hour, you need to be prepared for some noise until then. Finally, the weather, it was about 90 degrees when we were there, a huge break from the 110+ degree temperatures down in the valleys, but the campground is shadeless and you will bake in the exposed sun. And the wind here is stuff of local legend, a few storms passed to our south, and they caused gusts so extreme we had to lay in our tent and hold it up with our feet. The scenery was incredible ..the beautiful lake (not too small not too big) set against picturesque mountains. I only wish there was more honest information available out there. I was puzzled at the lack of customer service for a so called "resort " I stayed in the Mt Morris cabin with 20 friends and family (max capacity 34) The size of the cabin was not impressive for the amount it cost to stay. There seem to be multiple bunk beds set up in any available floor space of each bedroom. The bunk bed I slept in had the bottom of the mattress torn and tattered. As guest we were expected daily to throw our solid towels over the front porch railing for all neighboring cabins to see. We received clean towels later in the afternoon. MARINA... We were so excited to go fishing on the pontoon boat we reserved only to be told we had a small boat for 5, when we needed a much larger pontoon. After being embarrassed and chastised we were given the larger pontoon boat (thankfully considering it was a Tuesday and there seem to be multiple boats available). Then we were given VERY strict instructions that this was a no wake lake and had we broken the rules our rental would be OVER. We watched and heard over the radio other college kids clearly breaking the "no wake rule" FOR HOURS! The girl at the dock was CLEARLY overwhelmed and not capable of dealing with the little traffic the lake had that day. HORSEBACK RIDING... We went on what we believed to be an easy trail suitable for kids Unfortunately my fathet experienced health problems and we asked to walk back on our own. We were unable to ride any further (definitely NOT a beginner ride). We started to walk back... We had no cell service and NO way to call for help. There was a moment I feared my dad might parish. CABIN... Now I've saved the best for last, MICE! Not just one or two but several. Scratching at our bedroom door ALL night when we tried to trap them into a room not in use. I love Convict lake and will be returning yearly with my family. Hopefully our next visit will be up to par. My wife and I had our wedding ceremony and all the events that go along with it and we couldn't be happier! The scenery is breathtaking, the cabins were cozy, and the resort staff were helpful. There were lots of activities for the guests around the resort and it is close enough to Mammoth to enjoy all the amenities offered there as well. We will definitely be coming back! I understand this has been a tough year with Covid but honestly the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting at the lake ... really an embarrassment to this beautiful place.
