My father is a Chinese immigrant. We've been going to this restaurant for years. They were great for a long time, then were sold to someone that didn't do very well, and recently sold again. The food is once again fantastic. The House Special spare ribs are fantastic. Everything here is great, and there are many authentic Chinese dishes (some only for the brave, like fish stomach soup!) to choose from. There are also plenty of American friendly choices for the less brave. You will have no problem finding something great to eat here!

Slow down all those instant -fast food! This is a great restaurant that has the widest of variety that I have ever seen. Choose your favorite from the menu or ask waitress, they usually will know exactly the option for your cravings.

Overpriced, we left and did not eat there

Had dinner there tonight and it was very good. We all had some form of seafood and all were good and more authentic than most US Chinese restaurants. Service was good, prices reasonable and serving sizes large. Will come back.

This was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Ordered Egg Rolls and Garlic Chicken which was over cooked and tasteless. Egg roll filling was mushy and tasteless. Some of the vegetables actually had such an odd taste I couldn't eat them. Even the rice was over cooked and mushy. Ended up throwing most of the meal out, even the egg roll.

Seafood chow fun was really good. It’s almost 100% authentic Chinese food which is what I love. Highly recommend

Went there with a couple colleagues. They had a special menu that went 2/12/15 through 2/28/15 just for the Chinese New Year. We got there around 6:30pm and it was quite busy! Had to wait for a table for about 30 minutes. The service was at an ok-pace - they told me that it is a family-run establishment. We were served some hot tea along with ice water. We ordered a bunch of items: the beef brisket clay pot, sizzling chicken dish, deep-fried whole chicken, shrimps and scallops with fried cream, and the pineapple fried rice. To sum up, everything was very fresh and tasty. I would like to refute previous reviews who stated that their non-seafood items were sub-par - try the beef clay pot and the deep-fried chicken and you will be convinced. The sauce for the clay pot was rich and tasty without being greasy; the deep-fried chicken was the best deep-fried chicken I have had outside North Carolina, where the art of deep-frying is well-practiced. The sizzling chicken mesmerized us with its mysterious yummy sauce. The friend rice had the rare and precious "wok-qi" that traditional Cantonese people know about :) The shrimps and scallops were fresh and cooked just right. In a nutshell, go to East Ocean if you want authentic Chinese food! (2015)

I went here yesterday after work for a Chinese New Year dinner. They were already slammed with a full house of Asian people celebrating and the phone was ringing off the hook with orders. They still took care of everyone very well and the food was amazing. They were so busy because everyone knows this place is so good. Order: small wonton soup, combination egg foo yung, garlic chicken. Yeah, that's a lot for one person (portions are very generous), but I wanted to take some home to enjoy over the weekend. SO GOOD, all of it. I wish all of them and you a happy lunar new year. And I appreciate the service.

Celebrated Christmas Eve with our family and ordered take-out. It was a very large order, so I went in the day before to place it. Everything turned out perfect! Got everything we asked for at the time we asked for it and it tasted amazing, as always! Been going here since we moved into the neighborhood 20 years ago. Great job!

Among many Chinese Restaurant in Albuquerque, East Ocean should be one of best choice in term of Authentic Asian Food like Ma Po Tau Fu, Cantonese clayport beef, Roasted duck, salted pepper prawn etc.

Ugh. Tsai's was the best, East Ocean was bad. Chicken lo mein was mysteriously brown, a few onions, ugh. Beef mixed vegetables ok, fried rice not ok. I spotted miniscule bits of egg, no scallions, also, mysteriously brown. Cashew chicken had nice cashews. Egg rolls were average and ok. But I ended up tossing all the lo mein and rice, so kind of expensive for three egg rolls and two dishes at $36.

poor service. made a reservation and once we arrived we ordered right away less than 10 minutes after arriving. we sat there for about 45 minutes until receiving our drinks, and after an hour and a half we received our food. server was no where to be seen and had to stand up to get their attention for simple drink refills. there were people around us having to clean their own table due to servers not doing it. outrageous service.

Great place nice clean and quiet place for Chinese food. I've been going there for over 10 years absolutely love it there luncheon specials are great. Now don't work close to location but still try to go there once a week. Absolutely love it

I have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years, and it is now, after new owners took over, even better than before! Everything is excellent! You will not be disappointed. Chow Fun, Lo Mein, Chicken w/Chinese Veggies, Beef and Broccoli, and on and on. Do not like their egg rolls or dumplings but that’s about it!

I was there for lunch on Feb. 17th, 11am to after 12pm. This was my 2nd visit. 1st visit was a really good experience. Really good food. That was last year in the summer. This time, my friend waited almost 45 -50 mins for her food. She didn't get it until she walked out the door. She later said the food was so-so. My food came within a reasonable time. But, the rice was awful, tasted like it had been around for a couple days. Soy sauce did nothing to cover the awful taste. Egg drop soup-really good, eggroll-not bad, but small and you can tell it wasn't made there-probably frozen and reheated. Sweet n sour chicken-well- it was heated up frozen nuggets with sweet and sour sauce thrown on top. Small portions. One waitress. The cook brought out food to my friend as we left. No explanation to her of where her food was that whole time. Nothing. Place was not packed. Waitress was very nice, but being the only waitress, she had her hands full and because of that, wasn't able to be very attentive-at least to most of us- but, a table filled with Buddhists, who were all Asian, had super huge portions, and had no problem getting waited on and checked on. The rest of us, in my opinion, who were not Asian, got small, sub par portions. The employees were all Asian and it came across as favoring one ethnicity over all the non-Asians who were there. Reasonable prices. Nice waitress, which is why 2 stars instead of one. We'll be looking for a better place to eat Chinese food.
