The food is always on point. However, the cashier working up front this evening was rude and unprofessional. Long story short, the cashier was only interested in prioritizing walk up orders rather than keeping up with orders that have already been placed. For reference, the order was placed on 9/7/24 at 5:09 pm and the cashier was a Caucasian female. I hope she doesn’t receive any portion of the tips.

Good afternoon Fang Tang, oh my I wish I didn’t have to make this review regarding all the times you were good to me. But lately you guys been losing your spunk of good dining, friendly service but I give it to your cooks because they still do there job right. First of all I came in today 8/26/2024 and me and my wife and decided to come get some dinner to go. Hoping to beat the traffic we tried calling in an order. But your cashier that answers the telephone was very rude and unprofessional. So even tried giving them the benefit of the doubt because it’s Monday and it might have been busy etc. Bu when we came in side to order Oooo weeee your cashier had this ugly attitude, very rude to my wife I’m sorry but it was very unfortunately you have someone that is the face of your restaurant. But give it up to your cooks they still do a wonderful job. Btw your server was a Caucasian female with glasses. 🤓

A very Americanized Chinese restaurant. The food is not very authentic. I was craving malatang and there isn’t really anywhere in Albuquerque that serves this dish, so I came here to have the spicy beef noodle soup. Extremely salty and not properly seasoned. The meat did not taste fresh at all and tasted like it was out of frozen package. Was not checked on much by service staff. Overall it was an adequate meal but I would not describe it as tasty or a pleasant experience.

I ordered take out from the Montgomery location and ordered the following: Hong Kong Noodles with Chicken- Good flavor but needed more sauce and was very dry. The pictures from the ordering app does not match what I got so keep that in mind. Overall good flavor. Egg Drop Soup- Was good but had a very strong ginger flavor, so if you don't like ginger avoid it. Sichuan Street Noodle W/Chicken- This was very saucy and delicious. The only thing was that it wasn't very spicy and the menu had a spicy rating beside it so I was expecting some more heat. Kid - Fried Rice with chicken- Very good! Beef Rolls- I wish I would have ordered 10 more of these things! The peanut sauce that came with it complimented the rolls perfectly. And the filling of beef and veggies were on point. Overall the food was hot and fresh and flavorful. I will try other things on the menu next time and see what else they have.

Fun location on Rt 66. Parking can be very limited. Ordering food is done at the main counter, where it is paid for up front and is brought to the table. Few large semi-circular booths for larger groups and a few booths for parties of 2-6 at the windows. Rest are small tables. Was plenty cool (blower on HIGH), which we didn't care for as it cools off your entrée. The staff was nice and turned it down a notch. Still was chilly. I tried the BBQ steamed buns. They were an interesting texture (marshmallows texture but not sweet). They were good & different. My entrée was yellow curry coconut with shrimp and fried rice. I've had this at different Thai restaurants and found this yellow curry much different (I don'tthinkit was?), was more like reddish paprika curry, very thick, and lots of ginger. The menu had a 1-chile rating for heat, but it was more like 2-3 heat rating! I suffered through it and ate all the shrimp and rice and drank a lot of water! This was our first time there and probably may not go there again. Was fun trying it out, but it wasn't our favorite for now.

PSA: We picked up carry-out at the Fan Tang restaurant on Montgomery. As is typical at Asian restaurants, you get white rice with each entree. HOWEVER, instead of the ubiquitous white cardboard boxes, they put the rice in the SAME take-out container as the entree. Thereby you receive less than half as much entree as you expect at $14, $15 per entrée. The container also holds all the inexpensive white rice. The food is good, but as the kids say: NOT COOL.

In my experience, the food at this place did not meet our expectations. Out of the 8 meals we ordered, none of them were finished. The noodles seemed soggy, and the fried rice did not appear to be fried. The walnut shrimp was overcooked, and the rice had a pasty consistency. I've been a big fan of Fan Tang since I first tried it several years ago. Sadly, for me anyway, it seems to be declining. I was their for lunch today and ordered chicken with cashews. The sauce did not have a sauce consistency and the taste overall was bland. Portion seemed to be smaller, too, but I've noticed that to be the case with other dishes as well the last number of visits. I've stopped ordering take out because of this issue. It's not worth the price. I will most likely give it another go as maybe there are new cooks in the kitchen. Quality may be suffering because of the focus on a new location.

I'm a newly diagnosed celiac. Most of the gluten free food blogs around town have high praise for Fan Tang. Honestly, my food was underwhelming. I ordered the sesame chicken, and it wasn't fried, it was basically boiled white meat chicken breast with sweet chili sauce on it. It didn't even have the sesame chicken flavor. My husband also ordered gluten free sweet and sour beef so I could try, and his was marginally better (the meat was velveted so at least his sauce stuck to it), but still not anything to write home about. This is not it, fam. Just because we can't eat gluten doesn't mean we should settle for subpar food. Stop letting people charge you $13 a plate for this. On the bright side, I didn't get sick. That's the only reason I even left any rating at all.

I’m sharing my take out experience. Fab Tang use to be one of my favorite Chinese food joints in town. The food is still delicious, but in the past two years they’ve really shorted the customers on the amount of food they give. You pay fifteen dollars to get half of what you use to get. It’s barely enough per dish, and leaves you hungry in a couple of hours. Truly sad because I still love it. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I'm just about to head out to Fan Tang for another "awesome good food" fix. It's been too long. Owner Jason's team of superior, intuitive and thoughtful chefs, along with an engaged and sincerely pleasant staff at the register and the tables, has never failed to impress way better than just "average." Legit, Fan Tang's food is something "holy." Having been in the business years back, I know a thing or two about what it takes to make a complete and satisfying dining experience and Fan Tang consistently comes through. That's one of the secrets of restaurant success: every restaurant has an "off" shift now and again due to so many factors outside anyone's control (e.g., supply chain, someone doesn't show, tight parking, etc.). The trick is "consistency" in the important stuff (showing up, with solid values and beliefs about recipes, quality ingredients and customer-centric engagement). In these ways, over many visits for me, Fan Tang comes through head and shoulders above many restaurants in Albuquerque, let alone the "Asian fusion" genre. Thanks for it all Fan Tange team!! And now, I'm hungry. See you shortly :)) (Can't wait for the new store to open on Montgomery near Eubank). Don't change a thing and your success will rock hard!!) Ashton

This place is such a rip-off it isn't funny. Looking at the paper menu at the front desk with one price, the electronic menu board with a higher price and the actual check print out with an ever higher price. Was told that the owner raises the price all the time. And none of the prices match. Gimme a break. Spicy shrimp priced 13.29 on the paper menu ended up at 15.29. Seriously. Pot stickers were under cooked and cold. GAG. Sichuan Chicken/green beans were also cold, not to mention the brown rice. Spicy shrimp was not only cold but old and inedible. I told you not to mention the rice!. Also, they add on 3% credit card fee. Then I look at my check and they add on 9.10 for a tip on a 37.00 check. I don't think so. The girl at the register gave me a hard time when questioned about it and I informed her that I would stop the entire payment if she didn't remove it. She did. I can't believe this place is still in business. It looked like the cooks were having a huge party on the line. No wonder the food was so awful. Should have stayed home.

When we asked the guy at the front about he started going off about “I said 15 minutes and it’s only been that long” and we said “ok that’s fine I don’t want to argue just wondering how much longer” and he decided to rudely respond with “I’m just saying some patience would be good”. Like I came for food not a lecture for asking a very common question and we didn’t even ask rudely. I get he was flustered because someone took the wrong order but slamming things around on the counter and taking it out on customers is not the way.

So we’ve gotten food here a few times and it’s been great all the times. The coffee chicken is amazing and so are the crab wontons. My only complaint is that I wish you guys had a separate pickup area or window for people that order in advance as that line gets so backed up! Our food would have gotten cold last night had one of your staff not been so kind to grab it for us super fast as they were coming back from a break. Great service by the way but would love that for the future!

I am writing this review because of the exceptional service by one certain rep, Shayla. I've never seen a server work so hard so fast as she was on top of everything that needed being done. Fill your drink, she was there. Wipe table, she's there. The other servers are good, she's definitely tops. Give her a RAISE, and No, i don't know her. As for the food, I always go out for Chinese food as it's a traditional New Year's food for New Englanders. Living in ABQ, I heard wonderful things about Fan Tang's food, mainly from a manager, so I chose it as my place to celebrate my birthday, my personal New Year. Craving Pad Thai, I chose that along with Crab Wantons. Both plates were plated like fancy food. I loved the plating of the food. The Crab Wantons were good. I would buy them again. As for the Pad Thai, I agree with Chris Wheeler's comment from a couple weeks ago, and wish I saw it before I went. The Pad Thai lacked flavor and appeared greasy. The shrimp in the Pad Thai was good. I'll be going somewhere else for my Pad Thai. Yet, seeing this is my first visit, I will return here again and order Spicy Shrimp to see if my experience was normal or a fluke. Plus, I loved the atmosphere. Leaving this comment with a positive, you may have a different perception. Seeing the fact that there appears to always be a waiting list, at least there was the whole time I was there, they get to be doing something very right. So, although my experience with the food wasn't great, I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. It's a beautiful atmosphere that's overflowing for a reason. And, with servers like Shayla, you definitely get great service. So, check it out for yourselves and make your own decisions.

This place is good. I feel like the food could’ve been hotter though. It seemed like the chefs didn’t really care about the food but I feel like it had potential!

Always good. Our families favorite place in Albuquerque. Coffee chicken is amazing and so is the egg drop soup. Highly recommend!
