Drive from Houston to Lake Charles Louisiana....to get some of their crackling

I met the owner one day coming back from my mother n law house, going back to Austin. I love the wet cracklins and wanted it fresh when I got home. The owner scooped some up for me in a bag to pour on my cracklins. Love you for that. Thank you!

My Very 1st Time Going I drove from Texas After Getting off My Nite Shift Went Right upon Opening Sraff NON Chelant Not Helpful Asked for Brisket Sandwhich so instead of just telling Me the Fresh cooked would take a min to be done they got th old and put plain btwn 2 breds no sauce option or like onions picked etc tried it later Meat wad starting to go bad and they gave it anyway Horrible haven't tried Bourdain I got yet but wet crackling were fine I'll stick with goid smoked Texas bbque especially brisket I told them I wasn't from there and 1st time but that crew that was there ain't it

Perhaps the crackling is a rave but, their brisket, bbq sauce and potato salad were a HUGE disappointment. The restaurant is clean and staff is friendly though.

You CAN NOT go wrong here. Craklins, Smoked ANYTHING, LITERALLY!. Here to stay or just passing through. Try em!. You won't be disappointed by anything or anyone in that business

Cracklins were delish!!! Service was good, smelled delicious inside and was packed. Was interested in the "wet" cracklins, but unfortunately they don't give samples. Wasn't gonna buy some and not like them. Definitely recommend!

I gave the food a 4 star rating only because it was not the food I originally went there for. We wanted their boudins but, they were all out of them. Got the chicken dinner and it was good but not what we really wanted. Also, the soft spicy Cracklin is fantastic.

The soft and hot cracklins are the best. I travel from Houston to get them. You will not find better cracklins anywhere else unless they are trying to copy these guys.

Great customer service yesterday. The staff very nice and friendly. Clean restaurant and bathroom. All the customers were getting crackling. I passed on it. Food - I got the sausage lunch plate. The sausage was flavorful and seasoned well. The sauce was good. Warm temperatures. Dirty rice was okay. Problems: Roll was stale, beans was so sweet one spoonful made my eyes squint. Too sweet for me. The potato salad - terrible! No love, no seasoning, extra dry. Everything tasted as if was reheated a couple times. Nothing fresh

They have the best wet cracklings around!!! The only thing is their prices per pound are ridiculous at $22 a pound for them that's way to high.

What I purchased was fresh and tasty

This place has the best cracklings and service in the entire area! This is the 5th time we have stopped here when passing through and trust it won’t be the last. The cracklings are always fresh and the service is always with a smile. I wish I had photos to upload but we ate them too fast lol. I will advise anyone to stop here and purchase a lump sum so you can have some for later especially if your not from the area.

Today was my first time going there. When I walked in, I was greeted and acknowledge as soon as my foot hit the floor. The lady that took my order had a smile on her face from start to finish. I took my food back to work with me and begin eating. Everything on my plate was amazing!!! I will definitely go back.

So being from Texas, this was my first time eating cracklin. It was really pretty good. For my first time, I give it an 8/10 on the spicy one. Very tasty and fresh. I got the brisket sandwich also. Now Texas does brisket very different, so I will just say that it was tasty and I would eat it again. It would be unfair to use my Texas brisket criteria on this. But thank you to the nice young man who suggested the spicy cracklin, this was a good experience overall.

Sinful. Gluttony. Sinful. The cracklins are so unbelievably good… and then there’s wet / soft cracklins… holy smokes. Don’t drive by- drive thru. Follow me and mark me helpful. The soft buttery luxurious texture of the fat juxtaposed against the super crunchy skin… the spice of a Cajun buffalo like sauce… I found myself licking the inside of the ziploc bag. Wow. Go ahead and get at least half pound of each. You won’t be mad.

First time going based on a recommendation for their cracklins. We arrived at 4pm & the indoor area was closed with only drive-thru operating. Price: we only tried the cracklins and they are definitely overpriced. $25/lb where other places are $21-23. Food: The sauced cracklins ended up getting tossed because they were completely cold & just didn't care for the seasoning. Unfortunately I was not impressed with Famous Foods, especially considering quality of food compared to the price paid. I wanted the pulled pork sandwich but they were out of that so I got chopped brisket sandwich instead. It was dry and tough. We dined inside. The pub style table and chairs were quite comfortable and clean but lacking in condiments such as bbq sauce, ketchup or hot sauce. I personally don't think that I will be back for a while. I come for something in Southwest Louisiana I have never found anywhere else- the SPICY MARINATED pork cracklins' Taste like thick bacon sat for hours in a super spicy brine. Highly addictive!
