They raised prices and lower the portions!!! Their combo GIANT SHRIMP AND SCOLOPS is like a mini regular size shrimp and mini scolops. Never going back, done with this place.

Their menu is endless and I had a shrimp cocktail that was so terrific plus the entrée was so tasty. I will be back soon!!

Get there early or late for lunch. The combo plates such as shrimp & scallops are price worthy. Sorry to say, they swapped out their red cocktail sauce for another brand (or the formula was changed). Not as good as the original. Thumbs down. The tartar sauce remains a favorite. The attendees behind the counter are a bit brusque, so be ready. Also, don't leave without checking your order. They (cooks) DO make mistakes. It happened to me Again... even when only 4 customers were being attended. It felt like I was dealing with 'Pickles'.

Food is not that great and high price

YIKES... A downtown staple gone down the tubes... I have been going over 40 years and should've known something was different when I pulled up at lunch time on a Friday and walked right inside to order. I have noticed the decline in food quality over the past year. Food use to be OUTSTANDING and reasonable Had the fried and grilled seafood sampler platters. Both options were costly and untasty. Will not trek downtown for this option anymore

Excellent fish restaurant. Open only for lunches and busy. All the seafood and fish are fresh and you can taste it. Garlic butter is very good, not too much on the garlic side, which is very nice. Salmon was big, and the special shrimp appetizer (1 lb of shrimp) is worst every penny. Shrimp are huge in it. Clam chowder is excellent. Value for money is very good. Very good spot for fish

You can’t get enough when you go there

came during business hours and they were closed on different occasions, wasted driving here. they should update their “open” business hours

Please give all your employees a well deserved raise. The employees deserve a good raise. They do an excellent job. I was here a few weeks ago and they were all awesome. I came today and saw these wonderful employees on strike and its not fair because this business is a success because of the employees. I hope they get a good raise soon.

I have been supporting Fisherman’s Outlet since 1987. I love the quality of their food and the service provided by their employees who are always helpful and friendly. I drove 15 miles on 7-13-24 on my lunch break and to my dismay, the establishment was closed and several of their employees who I’ve seen many times over the years were out front protesting for better wages. I’m saddened that Fisherman’s Outlet has risen prices substantially over the years and neglected to increase wages for their employees. It’s my hope that Fisherman’s Outlet will be considerate and provide fair wages. Most employees do not work for 10 - 30 years at the same company. You have employees who love what they do AND that is why many of your customers continue supporting you.

This place has been one of the best seafood restaurants! I know the location is not at the best place but you can always eat inside or take it to good! Oh, and regarding what I ordered, grill scallop & lobster bisque made my day! Grill scallop was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The lobster bisque is best in town! If you are into seafood, I highly recommend this place!

This place have been around for years. Back in the 1980’s I worked at the Herald Examiner we use to frequent this spot often. Fast forward today I was driving by made a U-turn and decided I would indulge in my past. It’s simple but often times simple can be a really good thing. Nice selection of seafood fried, char-broiled the clam chowder is the best I had in a long time, loaded with clams!

Don't recall giving a opinion on this place before. Please keep in mind it's only my opinion. I've been coming since I was first introduced to it about some 35 years ago. A lot has changed since then except the quality. There are good days and there few bad days like anywhere else. The prices have gone up but again like anywhere else. For my money it's good. Not the best or the cheapest but worth a visit every now and again.

Best place to come eat some FRESH seafood!! Plates are VERY well served with your favorite food item.

This is our first time at Fishman's Outlet and Fish Market in downtown L.A. Friends were telling me if you want to try fresh seafood and buy it got to the Fisherman's Outlet in downtown L.A.. After shopping at the flower district we headed to the Fisherman's Outlet for lunch it took us couple of minutes to get there to the restaurant. The restaurant is a historic landmark in downtown. We walk in the restaurant it was busy but not that busy we look at the menu display very thing is fresh seafood including they have a seafood market next door selling fresh fish. My wife and I decided to order the fish combo with shrimp and we choice rice instead of fries two drink and carrot cake. It took couple of minutes to get our order we went outside and grab a table and we sit to enjoy our seafood meal. The fish was amazing good it was tender and fresh and the shrimp were good including the sauces come with the meal. The rice pretty good also. The carrots cake was good also.

I hate that they close so early but the clam chowder and garlic bread is soooo delicious. I loved the coleslaw. The catfish nuggets and fries were ok. Nothing special. The workers were nice

**UPDATE** 3/28/2024 We've gone 2 times in the last 3 months & both times the food was Not Good. The French fries were old & Stale, the Rice looks and tastes like what I imagine "PLASTIC" would taste like and the Fish does NOT taste fresh, and everything is way over priced! November 2023- The food is pretty ok, we ordered the fried catfish with shrimp and french fries, the french fries were not good though. There's a line with about a 20-minute wait, we called ahead of time to make our order and it was ready when we got there. You can eat outside or take it to go there's no inside restaurant.

Always packed so get there early. Great food, nice people.

This spot is my favorite go to place. Losangelas #1 attraction as far as sea food garlic bread to red soup delicious. Depending in what u like they have and it won't disappoint

I'd order an seafood cocktail. The cup was an regular drinking cup. Small for $10.an change. Never order that from them again.

A good place to eat everything very delicious

I have always wanted to try this place and this place is certainly worth trying. The breading on the fried seafood is so crispy yet with a crunchy finish. The scallops were smaller than expected. For the price tag you certainly get your money’s worth of food.

Excellent seafood. Yes there are fried food fish options but it’s such good quality, doesn’t matter. If you don’t want fried, shrimp skewers, scallops, clam chowder are all available. My favorite is the fried fish and shrimp combo. Rice pilaf is quality but fries are also good. I do recommend getting there early if possible. It’s popular with the downtown crowd so lunch time is hectic.

Freshest fish and seafood, great value, also the market has seafood by the pound. The food in the open Restaurante is also cooked when you ask for it, so freshest impossible.

Too much money for the amount of seafood you get. $39 for two shrimp, four small scallops, a cup of chowder and an extra garlic butter sauce. Good quality and fresh but sheesh

This is a popular place. I wish I could have tried more of the food so I could comment. Hopefully another time. I tried the clam chowder. It was very average.

The food is good with good size portions. Have been coming here for a while and it never disappoints. My go to is the fish and shrimp. I would say it's probably enough food for two. There's a good amount of parking in their lot, some street parking. There's a good amount of seating but it does get pretty full around lunch time.

Once you order you don’t wait long at all for the food. The line goes fast. Definitely worth any wait. This isn’t your ordinary fish n’ chips COME TRY IT! Been coming here since I was a little girl. Love this place and highly recommend it!

Loved the halibut with rice and coleslaw and butter garlic sauce. All clean even the parking.

It's not worth the money you spend there. It's $20 plate and you only get 5 fish nuggets a very small coleslaw and loads of French fries most definitely not worth $20 at all.

The quality of the flavoring of the food has gone downhill constantly for the last four years! Must add SALT and hot sauce for any flavor! I have been coming here since 1981. I am truly disappointed in this place.

Lovely seafood joint. It's so fresh and gives me San Pedro vibes without the crazy commute. They definitely make it worth the price. If you're on the fence bc it's like $20 a plate, just give em a shot. Great seafood is hard to come by.

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid. It will never change, and my mind will never change - it will always be my highest rated seafood in LA! It is split in half with half being a restaurant and half an actual fish market. With that being said you know all of your seafood items are made fresh and brought in fresh daily. Hands-down favorite menu items would be the clam chowder, fried shrimp, fried fish, garlic bread, grilled garlic shrimp, and their sauces. Everything is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh with everything seasoned to perfection. All seating is outdoors On their patio, and they are located right on a triangular shaped corner so you get the best views of the hustle and bustle of downtown while enjoying your meal. Also it gets a little crowded during lunch so you might have to save a table and have your friend stand in line and order the food. It is a must stop every time I go home to Los Angeles.

Although the line for walk-ins moved fairly quickly, it doesn't beat the convenience of having your order ready by the time you get there. Obviously this came with some of the downsides of my experience. I was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes, and I came within 18. Was able to get a table and eat my giant shrimp and scallops combo with rice right away, and was disappointed to find that the rice was plain cold. Nevertheless, the charbroiled shrimp and scallops were delicious. They provide Cajun and garlic butter sauces which are an awesome complement to the seafood and a slice of lemon. You have the option to choose one side from rice, salad, or fries with cole slaw. The food itself was great, but maybe next time I'll call ahead, and get there a bit earlier than told to make sure that my food doesn't go cold in the back. Parking: they have a very small lot for handicap only I believe, but there is plenty of street meter parking.

These days our standards are very different, we want, good food, good service and good times however we also want orderly, courteous, and clean - this is what my friends and I experienced today at the Fisherman's Outlet on Central Ave in DTLA. We used to go here when we worked at LADWP - we went there today - and it's still good! Today, more than ever that's a definite and refreshing plus.

Food is always bomb here. I get the fried shrimp and scallops, and the clam chowder. Always worth the drive I live in the IE.

Went on Friday during Lent and the line was ridiculously long. Free parking. They have a bathroom. Take debit/credit. They sell a couple of beers (miller lite, Bud light) and wine (Sutter Home). Lots of seating in the shade. The best clam chowder in the dtla area. A chowder that actually has clams in every bite. The rice was better than the fries. The sampler platter was cooked to perfection. I love shrimp but they cooked their salmon on point and it was my favorite part of the platter.

Fish and shrimp were overcooked but the fries were really good. I tried my friends tempura catfish, wish I got that. I would go again.

I’ve been coming here since the late 80’s. This place by far is one of the best seafood places. Love every bite. All is freshly prepared. Can’t go wrong with anything ordered here.

The greatest seafood restaurant I adore being here. If you enjoy fish with a strong flavor, I recommend the swordfish or the giant shrimp. They are quite large, as their name suggests. a little costly, but well worth it.

I order Shrimps & Scallops fried the Scallops were Nasty, Nasty didn't even taste like Scallops. Jus Horrible I threw the plate away. I will never order that again.

Great little fish spot stuck downtown, well worth checking out. Lots of varieties and this place also has a fishmonger counter for people who aren't dining. Interesting location, all outdoor seating and plenty of safe & free parking.
