Hands down the BEST place in Pawleys Island (& all of SC if you ask me). The food is to die for, & the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. My son always picks to come here to eat for his birthday dinner. The caramel cake is amazing. We love Franks and can’t recommend it enough. You must go!

My first time at Frank's, and I truly hope it won't be my last. What a gem of a restaurant! Our server, Michael helped to make our evening fantastic. Best Old Fashioned I've ever had! Great food, great service!

Franks Outback has been our family favorite tradition for about 6 years. My husband loves treating everyone when we go. We vacation in a home on the beach in the Litchfield area once a year. We were there on Tuesday August 26. Our family has grown over that time so we have a party of 9 plus 2 high chairs. As always, the staff was very helpful and pleasant handling our reservations . The waiter was wonderful and anticipated everything the two babies would need. The atmosphere has always been a favorite as well as the food. So when our steaks were served all four of us were very disappointed. There were 2 medium rare, 2 medium. All 4 were significantly over cooked. Beef eaters are very picky about doneness and Franks was always great at doing what we asked. The medium rare had very little red meat the mediums were well done with no pink meat. We didn’t speak up because we were on the babies’ schedule and didn’t have time to reorder. I didn’t want our check to be comped because we ate the meals. The person who had shrimp and grits got sick that night. The other meals served at our table and the appetizers were ok. .i have never had a restaurant serve steak overcooked if anything it has to be sent back to be cooked more. Maybe Franks has a new chef? On Thursday of same week we went to Bistro 217 and the food was excellent including the beef, I don’t want Bistro 217 to be our new favorite place!

Great food and exceptional service. I had an issue with the flavor of my main, the grouper, which was quickly rectified by our server. The Mahi was excellent.

We were really disappointed tonight. I have been coming for over 20 years, 2-3 times a year. Always getting the same dish, grouper over grits. Two of us got the same grouper order and both dishes were overcooked, very rubbery. Told the waitress after we had a few bites but no offer to do anything about it. Maybe just a bad night for the cook but expected better service given the price.

My family and I was there wed july 3 first time, request jr as your server you won't be disappointed, the best food we have had in the mryutle beach area .

Had an amazing date night dinner with my wife. 10 out of 10, will be back.

Wildly over-rated. Prices very high for mediocre quality and poorly cooked meats. Server did not remove dishes after eating, even when requested. Drinks went empty multiple times. Will not return

Superb in every way! We had dined in the Outback and Wayback but this was our first time dining inside Frank's. It certainly won't be our last. The food and service were incredible. Our server David did an amazing job and we look forward to next time!

The appetizers were delicious! We ordered conch fritters, spring rolls, oysters, and blue crab special.

Great restaurant that had a fun and intimate atmosphere with delicious food! We ordered bread (which is complimentary but you have to ask for it) and deep fried deviled eggs for appetizers. The deviled eggs are delicious and had a little potato in it too with the crispy pieces of prosciutto. Then the braised short rib was really delicious! The mashed potatoes were creamy and the meat melted in your mouth with a slight crunch from the French fried onions. We all really enjoyed all our meals but one of the steaks came out a bit under done. Still really well seasoned though. Then, we got several desserts! The caramel cake is wonderful but it is quite sweet! The key lime cheesecake is also really delicious as well as the cobbler! Overall, a really good meal and great desserts! The service was fairly good. The waitress came by several times but our drinks weren’t filled out as much as we wanted. However, the waitress did mess up our bills when we tried to get them split up between us. The atmosphere was awesome! It had fun twinkly lights and some nice fans since it was hotter outside and the restaurant is outside but it’s covered so if it’s raining, you will still be okay. There were live plants throughout which was nice as well.

FIT FOR FOODIES! Food Excellent, Service Excellent. I would have rated the restaurant excellent - but it was a little noisy. We were seated inside. Frank's is an upscale, higher priced restaurant. The quality of the food and the degree of service made it worth it. This is a great option for that upscale meal out. Back in 2024 - just as good.

7 women had an amazing time!!! First of Nikki she was extremely organized. She was charismatic. Great personality. We asked her to come over and be our activity coordinator. 😆 Delicious drinks. Bar keep is generous. 10/10 Would eat here again.

Alright folks, this is it. The best restaurant in Pawley's island. If you are a foodie who craves quality over kitsch, this is it. I am floored. Everything we had was perfect. The joint is packed but for good reason. Update 7/18/24: The review stands. We come here a few times every year and tonight was no different. High quality food, excellent service. My only wish is that they would have a better selection of cocktails. A paper plane with scotch would be nice but that's just me. They try stuff all the time. Whatever sticks, stays. Additionally, if the online reservation says they are full, don't let it stop you from showing up. They may have a table. And if not the bar is a fantastic spot for wonderful conversations and great service. Cheers!

We come here every time we're in Pawleys and usually love it. This time we didn't. I don't know what happened but none of us enjoyed the food this time, seemed like the atmosphere was more important than the cooking. I didn't want to say anything and spoil everyone's time but everyone agreed once we were back at the beach house. Pizza is usually great, this one was terrible, the salads also terrible and a crazy price for what they are

Real good quality food and nice wine selection Honestly was alittle warm in the restaurant To the point of alittle uncomfortable. Grouper was alittle smaller than I thought it would be and to spicy, But fresh Crab cakes were great Fried oysters real good again batter alittle to spicy.....top level service. Will try again next year done for now. Hope they pay the electric bill and get some A/C going next summer.

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Frank’s Outback several times a year, and each visit reaffirms why it’s one of my favorite spots. Our most recent experience was nothing short of exceptional. Brian, our server, was attentive and personable, ensuring our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. We were also assisted by a lovely lady named Revelation, whose warm demeanor and excellent service truly stood out. Both of them made our evening special with their impeccable service. As always, the food was outstanding. The fried deviled eggs, fried oysters, NY Strip, halibut special, and multiple sides were all cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. I highly recommend Frank’s Outback for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. We look forward to our next visit!

We’ve been coming to Frank’s since it opened but for the first time in 36 years, we were shocked and disappointed. First, the dining room is very hot. When we asked for the AC to be turned down (to be made cooler), excuses were made and we were moved to the bar. Unfortunately, the owner’s daughter told us that the restaurant is just hot in the summer because the building is old. When we called for a reservation, we couldn’t get outdoor seating yet when we arrived and left after an hour, there were still many empty tables outside, AND it was much cooler outside than inside. Most importantly, the food was mediocre and nothing special. However, our sever, Mark, was excellent. Not sure we will return again.

Went about a month ago for our Anniversary. The flavor on each item was unique and left behind a powerful food memory. Loved the devil fried egg. The stuffed chicken special with cream, prosciutto & mushrooms amazing. I like to add a citrus on creamy dishes , used lemon to squeeze overtop. My husband had the fried grouper. I didn’t have to ask how he liked it..his plate was empty.

The meal was excellent. Sandra was outstanding.

Duck one way is something, but to have it two ways is other worldly. I definitely liked the breast more, but they were both amazing. Another person in my party had the crabcakes loved them. The ratio of crabmeat to breading was great. The atmosphere at Frank’s Outback is also top tier, and you can always count on top notch service. I’d highly recommend the crabcakes, duck two ways, yellow fin tuna bowl, the 14 layer cake, and the tuna poke. Thanks guys!

The food is always good here! The fried goat cheese balls were amazing! My husband got the porkchop that came with forbidden rice, asparagus, and a mustard sauce. I got the 16 oz steak and we ordered a small side of asparagus and bacon/cheddar grits. It was nice that they offered a smaller size or family-sized sides. Everything was seasoned well and delicious! Sherry was our waitress and she attended to us well. The staff were very observant about refilling our water glasses. We were in the back room, so with the open kitchen, it definitely got warmer as the night went on and got busier.

We’ve been eating at Frank’s for more than 30 years (a big deal meal every other year during family beach vacation). Our most recent outing with 7 of us (to the tune of $600+) was a huge disappointment because of the food. While it was ‘okay’, the quality was not what it once was. The appetizers, including ‘special calamari’ was the same you could expect from a chain restaurant. Entrees: Crabcake was very ‘meh’, duck was okay but looked like it was thrown on the plate and the veggies were not good and went uneaten. The steaks were mediocre. None of the plating was attractive—very thrown together. Salad looked it had been dumped on plate We’ve looked forward to going to Frank’s for decades, but I’m afraid no more. 😒 I recently recommended them to some friends visiting Pawley’s in September; I will be rescinding that recommendation when I get home.

We ordered the Seafood Chaicouterie the other night. It was fabulous. I hope they put this on their menu, at least for the summer.

We visit here every year we come to Pawley’s Island. The food is always outstanding. The espresso martini was quite good but I wish it was frothed. We had the crumble for desert and it was extremely tasty

Amazing. We were down for the week and I accidentally booked the wrong day for dinner. You all went above and beyond to get us a seat I appreciate it and the food was amazing!

The atmosphere and service were top notch. I had an elevated expectation before arriving. The wine was just ok, and the grouper was slightly overcooked. Overall, a fine meal. But it’s not something I will remember or revisit.

First time for me three nights ago. Everything was near perfect. Best Caesar salad I ever had. Crabcakes with coarse ground grits and spicy collards were delicious. I did have to ask for my glass of Sancerre twice, but a small detail. It was delicious, by the way. Extensive wine list. The place has great energy and vibe. There's an outdoor bar and outdoor dining area also. The outdoor space is well-designed and nicely landscaped. Frank's reminds me of one of my favorite restaurants in the world, Ziggy & Mad Dog's in Islamorada.

My family’s been going to Franks for years and Lewis has always taken amazing care of us!! It’s such a sweet tradition for our family. We all look forward to it every year!! 10/10

Pretentious- Prideful- usually comes before the fall. Sad . The way out back happy hour . Such a bummer, why say anything, they don’t care, it’s hard to find any help.

Outstanding place. Food was outstanding. Service was incredible, atmosphere on the patio was perfect. A total 5 star experience. So glad we were able to dine there on our trip to Pawleys. Will definitely return in future visits.

Party of eight for dinner all of our food was excellent. The service was excellent except for the tuna sushi which literally gave me food poisoning. I was sick for three days. It was awful. Not sure what went wrong wrong here, but do not eat the raw tuna at Frank’s outback.

This place is the best!!! Food is always amazing! The entire staff is friendly, and accommodating. The bartenders are the highlight. Bob, and his side kick Andrew at the outback bar both have a great sense of humor, are friendly, and make amazing drinks. Then at the Outback bar you have John who is friendly, hilarious, and makes you feel like you’ve known him for years.

After a long travel day to come into Pawley's for a wedding, my husband and I wanted good food and a good atmosphere. We didn't have the recommended reservation, but got seated immediately outdoors and near the bar. The lights are stunning and the service (thanks to Mike and LuLu) was phenomenal. We were taken care of so well. The flounder special was amazing, and my husband inhaled the trio rack of lamb small plate. It began to rain and we were quickly moved to a sheltered space and continued our dessert there! Wonderful people, excellent food, it felt cozy and like home, even though we were on vacation!

I had the BEST birthday dinner at Frank's Outback on Thursday, 4/18. The Pan Seared Local Flounder special was delicious. The atmosphere was amazing per usual. And the service was top notch made extra special by our server Mike who went above and beyond. I could not and cannot say more. Thank you to the Frank's team for such a wonderful Birthday! I am a local I am done with this place. They changed the menu. The prices are higher. The portions are smaller. Their wine selection sucks and they are not the nicest people if you try to get in there without a reservation There are other restaurants Down at pawleys Island that the food is so much better and it's cheaper I will give them credit. They do have the atmosphere outside at the outback but it's not worth it. Try Geo's Italian kitchen or bistro 217 One other note, if you make a reservation on OpenTable make sure you check with Frank's to see if it went through which happened to me and they wouldn't accommodate me. When I made the reservation a month ago they said I canceled it but I got a confirmation that I had the reservation. Anyway, that's my fault for not checking earlier. They said that I could come in and sit in the courtyard on a first come first serve basis when she knew and looked up and saw when I made the reservation a while back for myself and my friends that were from out of town.. Done with this place

Good food, great service, just a little pricey for what ya get served.

I've been to Frank's before, however, this night my husband and I dined inside. Which is quite outdated. For fine dining I was surprised at the "rodeo wooden chairs" and old fashioned decor. Our server this night was Sherry. She was nice. We ordered half oysters on ice and fried okra for our appetizers. The oysters were fresh and the okra was fried to perfection without the slimy texture. For our entrees we had braised short ribs and lobster ravioli with a wedge salad. Good portion size, but entree lacked in favor. My pasta was slightly uncooked and the short ribs lacked in favor. I would recommend their outdoor dining, especially for the 35+ crowd.

A must visit when in Pawley’s Island. Great atmosphere.

First time at Frank’s in a few years. Always a good, not great experience. Tonight was another average performance. My wife has many food allergies but is accommodated when we dine out. Her allergies are always included with our reservation and she brings a list with her to be sure. We’ve had many great dining experiences throughout South Carolina but Frank’s just doesn’t instill confidence for anyone with her sensitivities. No mention of allergies when we arrived (was included when we made our online reservation), we reviewed specifics with our waiter. He kept talking “we can grill that” and we asked about cross contamination. Finally he suggested pan seared fish. She ordered a salad (specifics reviewed again) and we waited. Salad was delivered with goat cheese…she ate some before realizing goat cheese was on the salad. Immediate fatigue and abdominal pains. Seared fish was fine. Apologies were extended by waiter when we shared the salad story and we weren’t charged. Hey Franks! Do better! It’s not too much to ask for a green salad with beets? We brought our own dressing btw. How about some fresh fruit dessert options for people with food allergies? We’re willing to pay and tip well when the experience warrants it. Not tonight though unfortunately. We went to Franks last night. It was the nicest up-scale restaurant we have been to in the area. We enjoyed the food and the service, waiter JR, was outstanding. We both had beef which was prepared very nicely. They seem to pride themselves on meeting the customer’s wants/needs so if you wanted to change something - no problem. The cook is obviously all about savory, big time. I would definitely check the menu before making reservations (a MUST) to be sure you see something you would enjoy.

Not only is the food incredible! But Tony and Bob the bartenders are honestly the best bartenders! Friendly and make you feel vip. There drinks are soo good!

Frank’s Outback is a very unique indoor/outdoor setting with awesome food. Reserve in advance! They have a well-earned reputation and are very popular!

We went with friends for dinner. We could only get a table inside. The experience was still excellent. I really enjoyed my entree however my husband got the duck and he said it was too fatty and did not enjoy it. The portions are huge. The apps were good. They have a large wine list, only a couple of craft beers. They did have a cocktail menu. We ended up having beer and our friends had wine. We were surprised the prices were very reasonable and the waiter was attentive.

As someone that lives here local, we love to come to Frank’s at least once a month. It is one of our favorite places to eat in the country, the food is always phenomenal and the service is second to none. We highly recommend Frank’s to anyone and everyone.

Beautiful evening... Everything was wonderful!

This was a wonderful place for dinner with my girlfriends. We had reservations and were sat immediately. Two of us ordered the medallions and one ordered the filet. All came out perfectly except mine was overdone. They took it right back and prepared a new one perfectly. The collards are out of this world delicious! A bday treat was brought to the table (super chocolate brownie with ice cream). Our water glasses were always full. Afterwards, we walked to the way, way back and had after dinner drinks at the bar. The bartenders were great and entertaining. I look forward to returning.

The food was amazing, I got the 8oz filet of beef and it was so tender and the sauce was amazing. I wasn’t really sure the difference between the restaurants and wish I had chosen the original Franks, the outback was not romantic at all. They have metal tables pushed together with paper table clothes. They could do better.

This restaurant is moderately expensive but, the food, staff and the atmosphere are wonderful. You may want to keep this restaurant in mind for a special occasion.

Food was very good. I had the grouper and others in my party had it as well. All 3 enjoyed it and another had the cowboy steak. I had key lime cheesecake for dessert which was disappointing. Others had Frank’s infamous layer cake.

It was very nice ambiance!! Huge place but didn't feel super big. Who's was nice. We sat at the bar and had wine appetizers , salad and pizza. It was all excellent!

Couldn't be happier with the service, food, and atmosphere. We asked to sit at the fireplace, and the hostess quickly checked to see if it was available, and soon we were seated at the beautiful roaring fireplace. The food is always delicious at Frank's and the atmosphere is pristine.

Our family had dinner twice at Franks Outback/Wayback during a recent weeklong stay at Pawleys. We couldn't get a reservation so showed up early (at 5) and the hostesses were very kind and welcoming (much appreciated with our 5 yr old grandaughter). Apps, dinners, drinks and service were all top notch and it's easy to see why it's a very popular place. Clearly well run. Will definetely be back again and again!

It's hard to beat this place anywhere around Pawleys. Generally tough to get a table, even off season. But that's because it is consistently good. Very dependable. They've got it figured out. Even the summer crowds don't throw them off their game.

The food was great. It's a little pricey, but that is typical of a steakhouse style restaurant. You can dine outside or inside. Plenty of parking. Reservations are needed as this place gets packed nightly.

After reading some of the reviews we were thinking about changing venues. I have to say the food was awesome, Kerry the waiter was fantastic! We already made a reservation for later in the week with our friends. Have to try the fried deviled eggs!! The plane crash cocktail is a must do as well.

Been to Frank’s twice now and both times were amazing. We got filet & grouper, dishes were outstanding. The 14 layer caramel cake is also to die for! Our server was awesome and friendly as well.

I went to Dinner with my wife and Family...The Food was the Absolute BEST!!!! But I have to say our waitress, Olga, was one of the nicest and kindest People I have ever met. She made my Birthday and I will be back and Hopefully when Olga is working. She is a GEM!!!!!!
