To start….owner (I assume) was very friendly. Great interaction from the minute you walk in. I had to try and burger, but they also had red beans on special today. The burger is a big thick patty. Good flavor! I also enjoyed the RBNR and the portion is nice sized. Will be back!

It was so wonderful, oh my god. We each consumed our entire meal. They provide a great assortment of drinks, chips, and even freshly baked cookies!

Gary's continues to be the best plate lunch, breakfast, and burger option in the area. You won't find more flavor or quality anywhere else. I lived across the street for a few years, and have had pretty much everything on the menu. Nothing but great options no matter what you choose. This free town neighborhood gem is never to be slept on!

I must say, this is one of the best burger joints I've eaten at in a long time. The service was exceptional, and the food was mouthwatering and so fresh!!! Oh, and let me tell you, the food came out so fast it was unbelievable. I had to do a double take!!! Great job, you guys!!!! 10/10

Great plate lunches weekly and hamburgers. This is an 80 year old establishment that was originally a neighborhood grocery store turned restaurant. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. If you want to experience a typical Lafayette plate lunch place you should visit for breakfast or lunch

We eat here at least one time a week. Sometimes more.. but if we are in the area between 10:30 and 1:00.. this is the spot that gets our money!!!

This is a true gem of Lafayette dining! Great old fashioned plate lunches with the most personalized service I've ever seen. Mr Troy remembers almost everyone's names after their first visit, so on your second time there you feel like family, with a by name greeting as you walk through the door! The food is all good, but if you can make your plans to be there on a day when they have the smothered pork, it will change your life!

You can't choose a wrong meal here! This place is a great representation of what a Southern plate lunch spot should be. Great people, great food!

What a great find! We stopped in looking for breakfast but we were a little too late. No biggie, so my wife had the crawfish etouffee and shrimp stew, and I had the black eyes, sausage, rice and beans. Wow! They know how to do Louisiana just right! Not to mention Troy was what southern hospitality is all about! We went because it was rated 5 stars and we’ll definitely give it the same!!

Only parked here to get out and take pictures of the FREETOWN sign across the street. They were closed, but it was nice there was a parking lot available to get out of traffic and safely park for a photo without scary no parking tow signs everywhere as seems to be common in Louisiana. Thank you Gary's!

My boyfriend took me here for the first time, he got the shrimp stew and I tried one of the loaded burgers. Oh My God it was sooo good. Both finished all our food. The have a wide selection of beverages and chips and even have delicious homemade cookies! Definitely Gonna stop by once a week. They have different plate lunches through the week.

While I was only in town for the week to provide training, I had lunch twice here and the burgers, even plain, tasted extraordinary!

Friendly service, delicious food, and quick. Their plate lunches always looked so good, I finally was able to make a stop to try it out, and it did not disappoint. Gary's is normally a real good place to eat. The guys that did my bacon and egg screwed up this time. I ordered and paid for extra bacon. When I arrived to my house I looked between the slices to find one strip of bacon cut in half. I'll give you guys another shot because I've been going there for years. Take your time and check the orders guys

This place is a gem. Gary is extremely nice, and the food is delicious. The best place to eat if you are passing through Lafayette. Owner let us try their Crawfish Etouffee because we were new to town

The food and everyone working there is so hospitable. 1st time dining here (we’re from Dallas, TX) and the owner was very helpful on the menu. He let us try “chow-chow”, very tasteful salsa that they used. He also let us try the crawfish etouffe and it’s so good (we didn’t order the crawfish but he let us try). You really can’t trade southern hospitality anywhere else

Food was AMAZING!!!!! PEOPLE WERE VERY FRIENDLY, easy to talk to... great experience!, I got the white meat chicken stew over rice and added red beans and sausage and the chicken nearly melted in your mouth my husband got the dark meat and it was even better. The brownies are to die for!
