Yes, it’s down the Trail from town, but this is the only place to get a real Philly cheesesteak in Sarasota. Family run and caring, it’s a friendly place to eat in or take out from. If you’re ordering for pick-up on Friday or Saturday, make sure you call early enough — they’re so popular, they sometimes run out of rolls. Worth it!!!!

The best cheesesteak hands-down in Florida! I brought my buddies here over the weekend who originally introduced me to the cheesesteak and they left saying it was the best cheesesteak they’ve ever had outside of Philly! I hundred percent agree! I would even say it’s better than a lot of the cheesesteaks in Philly. The owners are great and very personable! This is a great family business to support while getting food!

How this place gets these good reviews is very suspect. BLAND meat, soft bread, BLAND, over priced, and BLAND. I guess Philadelphia doesn’t like seasoning? Zero effort in their food. I’m insulted. I mean the bread, they just take right out the bag and use it. Terrible. Zero effort. Did I mention over priced? 15 dollars for a BLAND, cold breaded sandwich. Terrible. I feel robbed.

Best cheese steak I've ever had top notch

If I was on death row, my last meal would 100% include a wiz with, add mushrooms, cheesesteak from Gentile's. It's worth the drive from anywhere along the sun coast, and the sandwiches are almost identical to Jim's on South - which is the highest praise I can give to a Philly steak. Support this small business, run by a kind, funny, young married couple from Philly.

I love me a locally owned business & it’s even more of a delight when the food taste just as amazing ! I mean who doesn’t love a great cheesesteak! The customer service was outstanding as well.

Delicious cheesesteaks, awesome onion rings, fast service, but honestly, the exceptional customer service from this family owned and operated establishment will keep me coming back forever. They treated my two young toddler boys as they were their own, and went out of their way to make sure they were happy and comfortable. For my husband and I (who don’t get out much - two toddler boys…), they made what could’ve been a nightmare experience, into our most pleasant meal with our boys in a long time.

Love all the Philadelphia memorabilia on the walls!! I was raised on the Phillies and Philly cheesesteaks and whenever I'm in Sarasota I go here. As close as you can get to authentic while being in Florida!

All I’m gonna say is that it is the best cheesesteak that I’ve had since I’ve been in Florida for the last 17 years and I am from New York the family that owns this business is absolutely wonderful. I would love to post pictures but every time I go there, I scuff down the sandwich and forget to take the photo you get what you pay for I believe you spend money for quality food you should get quality food well that’s the way it is here.

was in town and was looking for the philly vibe.. the place DID NOT disappoint. old Philadelphia memorabilia and the owner was nice as far as philly people go haha. im kidding!! sandwich was one of the best I've had. if I'm ever in the area, I'll make sure this place is on the list again! glad I came across it on my last day in sarasota!!!

When you hear people say they can’t find a good Philly cheesesteak in Sarasota it’s because they haven’t come here yet. Food is phenomenal. Customer service is remarkable. Even if you come at the end of the day, they treat you right. The price is even decent!!!

The best Italian and cheese stake

I was here a few weeks ago on a trip to visit family. Stopped in because it was SO hot and the guys working the counter gave me a complimentary drink. Really friendly, kind people, and charming neighborhood vibe. Would definitely come here again and support a local business!

Biggest, most beautiful cheesesteak I ever had. better than what I got at Genos and Pats in South Philly. The presentation was remarkable and it was chock.full of good stuff. I like provolone. Super nice, folksy people and cool Philly pics on the walls. Went again today and same awesome results

Definitely the BEST steak and cheese I've had since moving to Florida! The young man behind the counter was busy but stayed upbeat and smiling and he was quick with my order. My cheese steak was perfectly made! Will be going back for more!

I wanted it to be good because I miss my Philly food but was very disappointed. Happy about the Amorosso's but my cheesesteak was super greasy. Hoping they had Cooper Sharp but since they didn't I slummed it and went with wiz because you can't get that down here. Plus it's whiz wit, not wit whiz. Joey D's is way better. They have Amorosso's, better service and better atmosphere. Sorry to diss anything Philly but it wasn't good.

I've been living in Sarasota for a year and I hadn't had a single decent philly in longer than that. The sandwich I had was a revelation if you're looking for a good authentic philly. This thing was so damn good it brought a tear to my eye. Family owned and operated and everyone is friendly and welcoming.

Although I loved their playlist, I tried to order a straight-forward cheesesteak, and they just gave me a sub roll filled with a mix of raw and sautéed onion. Not even caramelized, just barely sautéed. I asked several times for what I actually ordered, but they insisted that is what I ordered. After 10 - 15 minutes of arguing, I left and got 2 two cheeseburger meals from McD’s.

We all know that word of mouth is the best advertisement....Well all I can say is Wow!!!!! I'm from Philadelphia and it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get a REAL CheeseSteak Hoagie outside of Philly......Now I can say that all things are possible, cause the homies at Gentile's are right on point. I appreciate the hometown feel (memorabilia and conversation) and the food was MAGNIFICENT! So good in fact , I had to order one to take with me😇 If you're in the area (and even if you're not) make sure you add this to your "must visit" list. It's well worth the drive. Fast friendly service! I work at a car dealership and I don’t ever have time for lunch. And I certainly don’t have time to sit and wait. They got me in and got me out really fast. Everything was hot and fresh. Definitely recommend

Second time eating here and I continue to be disappointed. I came in and ordered a cheese steak hoagie whiz with extra onions. Well, when my food was ready, it was literally all onions. When I raised this issue to the worker, they tried to gaslight me and tell me they ran out of onions, and that there are no onions on the sandwich. This went back and forth for about 5 minutes before I cut my losses and ate the onion hoagie. Not even good onions. Save your money and go to Wawa.

Okay so I just had 1 of the best cheessteaks outside the Philly area. The owners were so thoughtful in getting my sandwich to me fast. I ate half the sandwich in the parking lot. I couldn't wait and they also turned me on to the local ice tea. Can't wait to go back.

First time, and we will be back. I've lived in Phillyland before and know what the locals can make. This is as close as I've found without hearing someone screaming E-A-G-L-E-S at the bar.

Web site saiys closes at 6:30 pm. Stop by at 6 pm tonight and the place was closed and dark inside. Very disappointed that I drove there from Venice since I heard good comments about the Cheese Stakes.

THE BEST authentic cheesesteak around. Piping hot! Simply delicious. Once you try one you’ll be hooked! You’ll be craving one at least once a week! Oh and the fries were crunchy and hot and so yummy!

Very disappointing when you call at 6:00 and you're already closed when your hours clearly say 6:30. Nice rude Philly answer. All you had to say was the power was out. I had no way of knowing that. You could have left that on your voicemail. You are my favorite cheese steak place. I tell everyone who asks that because I am from Philly. So, sorry, I needed my Philly fix and I was disappointed. That's all.

Best cheese steaks!!! I worked in philly and tried many places ...better than Gino and Pat's!! Always fresh , the rolls are so soft and it just melts in your mouth... delicious. Family enviroment and always great service. I take all my guest to eat there and not one person has complained... everyone has been requesting to go back even though its 45 minute drive from Port Charlotte... so worth the drive!

Had a delicious Philly Cheese Steak at Gentile's the other day, while waiting for my car at the dealers down the street. Gentile's uses genuine Amoroso rolls on their cheese steaks, which are essential in making a REAL Philly Cheese Steak. Felt like I was back in Philly while munching on my cheese steak as Ms Gentile took orders, worked the register and chatted with other customers. A very pleasant and delicious lunch!

Delicious. Don't let the outside fool you. Go in and grab something to eat. You can also order via Uber Eats if you don't want something you have to select just put it in the comments. I wanted my steak with whiz and onions not mushrooms but had to select mushrooms. They got the order with my stipulation of no mushrooms and I got a perfect steak just the way I wanted. Seriously get some of this. Small local shop, help support them in these crazy times. Original review above is over a year old at the start of the pandemic. Finally got back down to Sarasota in July 2021 and had to grab me a steak because of my previous trip and stumbled upon Gentile's (gen tee lee's). Sill outstanding quality and taste. Still follows changes specified in Uber order. If you want a cheese steak get to this place or order in if you are in the area.

I’m from Philly and very picky about cheesesteaks. This place is the real deal! They use good meat and import their rolls from a Philadelphia area bakery. Best of all, they have real Cheese Whiz! Go early or order in the morning for pick up because they can run out of rolls. The best!

After 30 or so visits, they’ve consistently served me awesome cheese steaks every time. I grew up right outside of Philly and these are real deal cheese steaks. The couple who run the place are super friendly and they do a great job keeping it clean. I try to stop in anytime I’m working near by. I think it’s the best cheese steak you can find anywhere in Sarasota.

This Philly cheesesteak place would be a home run if the cheese was melted over the top of the steak (maybe covered with a lid to melt) instead of just taking the easy way out and putting the cold cheese on the bottom of the bread. It is an extra step but would add so much flavor and moisture to the meat. Have mostly had it this way and it is outstanding.

Being from South Central Pennsylvania this is the closest to any Philly cheesesteak you're going to get here in Florida. I was at Charlie's believer for my first year to living here, but then I saw the light when I found this hidden gem. Food's always great memorabilia's classic and the owners are wonderful!

This place is legit! I use to work at firehouse subs and that place is a joke compared to Authentic Gentile Philadelphia! Go here I don't care if you have to travel halfway across the world! Your mouth will thank you and the people who work there will as well. They always give us more then what we order. This is a family owned business and with the way they treat their customers it truly shows. I will never have another sandwich as delicious and savory as This sandwich shop's cheese steaks and hoagies. It's only a matter of time before you are going back to this place every single gosh darn day!

I love this place and the Philly Cheesesteaks are usually to die for but the last two times I’ve ordered I noticed there was much less cheez whiz on the sandwich. My last order was a Clemenza which is supposed to have double meat and double cheez but hardly had any cheese at all which really affected the taste from how great the Clemenza usually is. I also noticed there was a younger man maybe in his 20’s making them on both occasions than who used to make them. I’m assuming that’s the common denominator. I’ll still order but I hope he starts adding the same amount of cheez whiz as the other guys. Other than that this place rocks. I’ll change my rating dependent on future orders. Thanks guys!

Finally authentic! I’ve had Cheesesteaks in Philly many times but have since moved to Florida. These are great! Famous Cheesesteaks are awful and Joey Ds, South Philly, and a few other competitors are pretty good but Gentile brothers are the only real deal in the area- especially their original Sarasota location. The owners are from Philly and they do them up the way they should be done. Sooooooooo good. Just do it!

The worst onion rings I've ever had! Looked like the oil has never been changed, burnt, saturated with oil and completely inedible. How this can be delivered to a paying customer is unacceptable!
