Really lovely spot with a variety of drink options and a private coworking space. Overall, I had a nice experience here, but had an issue with service over a 25 mg CBD additive that I purchased being added to my drink even though she’d previously said that I would add it myself. She gave me the drink and I asked for the CBD packet, but she said she added it and asked if that was ok. I said okay in the moment, but 20 or so minutes later (with an essentially full drink) I felt a bit overwhelmed by the effects (as a “lightweight” where all nootropics are concerned, which is why I wanted to add the powder myself to control the portion size). I communicated this and asked for a remade drink because I was having a reaction, and she replied that she could not remake the drink period (with or without a lower quantity of CBD) and also expressed no concern for whatever reaction I was having. She did offer a 25% discount, but when the order total is $10 this doesn’t amount to much at all. This is all to say that in serving CBD and other nootropics to customers there should be an immense amount of intention and care, especially insofar as dosing is concerned, and a barista should not assume a customer’s capacity, but rather be accountable that they’re supplying a drug with cognitive effects that differs from person to person. Maybe this is an issue of staff training, but I was and am disappointed in how this situation was handled and will be forewarning folks in the future (though as a coworking space and general cafe I have no qualms recommending it).

UPDATED - Cool place, nice vibe, friendly bartender... but music is WAY too loud. Not the first comment review on here about that. It overpowers earbuds... I came to chill and do some laptop work, but it's challenging. It's a 'coffee shop', not a night club 🫤 *** Gave it another chance... And another... Yup, same story. Grab your beverage and go. Seriously, 8 people in the place, every person has earbuds on. Music is annoying and too loud.

Easy place to hang out and enjoy some kombucha. They have live music some times. Easy parking

The staff were rude and aggressive. They don’t understand customer service. They are hostile to their customers. Will never go there again.

This place is the top Kratom/Coffee bar in the area. The customer service from Scarlett is unmatched, always on it, great conversation, super professional and her Cappuccino game is top notch. If you want elevated service and beverages, this is the spot.

Never been treated so rudely in my life. They made me a bitter tea that didn’t taste right and I asked if they could exchange it for something else. The server proceeded to make me another drink and tried to charge me only after they made it. Then she approached me after I said no thanks and gave me a lecture on how you have to pay even though the drink is bad. I said I think you’re insane and that’s when they kicked me out.

Just visited this place for the first time, had a shot of simple syrup they make in house. And oh boy it was the best thing ever! Highly recommend to try it. The kavatender Scarleth was so nice and explained me the simple flavor journey I went on.

A nightly Saturday visitor and usually get kratom which I enjoy every time, this time we switched it up with a kava beverage - Smores - much more earthy tasting drink than kratom (if you’ve had kratom you’ll understand), a bit of lingering aftertaste combined with some numbness of the lips, good flavor with a numbing of your tastebuds that actually helps the graininess be more pleasant that is usually a lot more pronounced in kava drinks. Really unique and floral taste that gets better with every sip .

I went Saturday morning and I asked a tea I asked for hot. The tea was cool. I asked that women with ling hair. Please warm up. She ignored me and I keep doing faces. I paid over $$6 dollars for that horrible attitude. Afternoon people way nicer. But that b….

I would need to write a novel in order to explain all of the things I love about this place. For starters, it is always very clean. The setup is conducive to productive work and easy thinking. The staff is always very friendly. I accidentally spilled my drink one time and the manager, Serena, was so nice and chill about it. They have the best kava and Kratom in the state of Florida. Most places go crazy with the potentiators when brewing, resulting in a spicy, bitter nasty drink. However grassroots keeps it simple, and their Kratom actually tastes delicious. The quality is also top notch. They harvest the best beans, leaves and kava root.

On our search for great coffee shops in Tampa we came across Grassroots! After trying the americano and cortado and the gluten free cookie Wow! Impressed ! House music was also great for evening relaxing ! Top on our list !!

Love coming here for tea and coffee! Nice space to do paperwork at and always friendly staff. Owners are awesome kind human beings and all the other locations are also very welcoming and fun to go to! I’ll always recommend grassroots for fresh teas and kava

Bright, Airy Kava bar in Ybor City, Tampa. Clean. Seasonal drinks and food options. Very tasty protein cookies! Front door always open. Pleasant atmosphere. Cute cat wanders in and out the front door. Chickens run free outside protected by the city.

The “manager” was soo rude and shouldn’t work in customer service. I walk up to order and say hi as I walk in and she completely ignores me as she looks on the terminal for something, then scrolls on her phone, then walks away to do something else. All the other staff were super nice and helpful though!! The kratom and kava were great and this is a really nice spot to come and read or do some work

My partner and I go here every weekend. The service is great, the coffee is in our opinion the best in town, it’s the perfect place to work, and the Ybor chickens and neighborhood cat Shelley make it a unique experience.

A favorite spot for many locals, this place serves as a coffee shop vibe and also a social house with absolutely no alcohol which makes it perfect for all age groups. Trivia night is very fun. I recommend going on Wednesday. The staff is very good at explaining what Kava and Kratom are for people who have never had those beverages and don’t know the benefits, and they have a wide array of other beverage options as well. They don’t have a food menu, but they have a few different baked goods and it is so close by to so many restaurants in Ybor that it is easy to pick something up to go at another place.

The atmosphere is always great when I come here. Every first Sunday is open mic poetry, which is where you’ll here awesome poets. 10/10 recommend!

I've been to many kava bars in the Tampa Bay Area and this is the best one by far! The atmosphere is super chill and the vibes are always on point. The staff is phenomenal, very friendly and won't leave you waiting! The kava is smooth and always cold! Tea is a great strength, always consistent. If you're in the Ybor area do yourself a favor and stop by for a drink and unwind. Oh! And if you need to work remotely, they have tons of outlets and solid wifi 🛜 !!

Very cool location! Usually a relaxed environment, though sometimes hard to find a seat inside at busy times. The front door is always open but I’ve never had any issues with temperature or bugs inside. I wish they had a larger menu of coffee cocktails that I could try like they do for kava and kratom. I like trying staff cocktails and I feel that’s also an easy way for people to figure out a regular specialty coffee order they like. I’m not much of a kava person myself so I can’t comment on that. I do like kratom but I don’t like their particular kratom brew. That said, there are plenty of regulars I see enjoying the kava and kratom on what seems like a daily basis so some people surely love it. They also have a variety of interesting local baked goods, including vegan options. Bottom line: Grassroots is worth checking out. You might your new regular spot, as many others have!

What a nice atmosphere for early morning coffee (or two). They also have an interesting Kava drink - just ask for it - it is designed to give you an overall good feeling and in my opinion, light buzz 🐝 Tingling and numbness on the tongue 👅 is reported by many, including myself 😃

I got introduced to this location by a friend, and while I don't frequent it as much as some of the regulars, I try to stop in when I can because their drinks from their kratom cocktails to their coffee are exceptional. The atmosphere and decor is very chill and relaxing, and there are weekly events on most days. Bula!

Stopped by from St Pete Beach to Orlando. The young lady in the front was super helpful and informative on all the drinks. The vibe inside is open and welcoming. I can see myself getting alot of studying or work done here. I wished I lived close by, I would be a regular!

Relaxed and social environment great for socializing. Baristas are super friendly and fun to talk with. My favorite drink on the menu is the orange dreamsicle kratom cocktail.

I’ve been to all the GR locations but this one has me in a chokehold. Great place to work from, music is always top tier and the tea of the day is usually a great option if you don’t know what to pick. Although they offer kava and kratom primarily, they offer so much more. Also, Taj is my favorite.

Absolutely LOVE the vibe, friendliness, and style in this place! Playing with the resident kitty🐈was also a plus! I tried a few different drinks here and all of them were delicious! The white Kratom gave me a nice balanced energy and mood boost! I even bought some for home use. I’ll definitely be back!✌🏼

WOW. This is my new favorite Kava House in all of Tampa. This place is a minimalist’s dream and it invites you in. There is plenty of seating and they have an expansive menu that includes kombucha, kava, coffee, teas, and kratom. It’s a walk away from all of the apartments in the Ybor area and there is plenty of street parking if you’re just visiting. There is WiFi and the restrooms are immaculate. I will be coming back!!!
