I highly recommend. I love the chili pistachios! With the bag of kernels you get more kernels, but who doesn’t love cracking open the shells? The wine Wednesdays on the patio are fun and a good way to meet locals.

Only one wine of them all is worth any praise. Staff is nice. It’s just about what you can expect from a wine so young. Not really the place you wish you go to if you’re a wine aficionado.

The outdoor terrace, tranquility, and view alone are worth the visit to Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wine! AND the wine is delicious! I found the cutest stuffed gnome that made its way home with me too. If you're in the area, this is a definite must experience!

What a gem! We were visiting the area and had to stop by for pistachio ice cream and wine tastings. We couldn’t believe the wine tastings are free, as we typically pay $20-30 for these. The wines were amazing. We went home with bottles of the Pistachio Rose and the Cabernet Sauvignon, both incredible, and priced well below market. We brought our teens who had ice cream, and we all listened to live music on the patio. What more could you want?

We did the once daily free (1:30pm) Farm Tour. Our tour guide Bree was amazing. Highly recommend. Winery was amazing too.

Easy to get to right off the highway. Pulled in with our rig and we're able to get turned around easily. Staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable. Bought some flavored pistachios and flavored olive oil. Certainly not chintzy with allowing you to taste different things

We had a wonderful experience here while visiting Alamogordo. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their food and wine offerings. The wine was really good, and the patio area was perfect to relax with our tweens and dog. One staff member, Pres, even delighted us with interesting facts about the pistachio plants and farming process, as well as local history. We loved our time there and would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Loved Loved Loved the Pistachio wine. Bought 2 bottles to take home and enjoy! Should have bought several more! Wisconsin doesn’t allow to have wine sent to me. Boo! We also highly recommend the pistachio coffee. It’s amazing, some of the best coffee we have ever had. I have 3 bags on order as I’m typing this :) We also purchased the Vanilla Praline Pistachios. Yum!!! Those did not make it back home, we thoroughly enjoyed them on our roadtrip. We have yet to try the chili mix but I have no doubts, we know it’s going to be amazing!! Also a plus… they sell cheese from our local state! I love that! I mean Wisconsin makes some pretty good cheese 😉 If you are in the area you really need to stop here! They have so much to choose from. I’m happy they have an online shop.

Customer service was incredible! They have a gorgeous patio out back, free wine and pistachio tastings, and a beautiful gift shop. They also have live entertainment on Wednesdays, which we are already planning on coming back to see! Everything was more than reasonably priced and the employee that helped us (Lynne?) was so helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place!

If I could give this place 10 STARS, I would happily do so. FIRST AND OLDEST PISTACHIO FARM IN NEW MEXICO THIS PLACE IS A MUST VISIT AND BETTER THAN PISTACHIO LAND. HEART OF DESERT DOES NOT HAVE 30 ft CONCRETE PISTACHIO BUT HAVE REAL PEOPLE CREATING REAL EXPERIENCES AND MOMENTS. One of the best customer service you will ever experience. Each and every one of the ladies who work here are such a sweetheart. They treat you with love and respect just like a family member. They are very welcoming and provide personalized service compared to their competitor next door who comes no where near the Heart of the Desert Pistachios. They have an amazing collection of vinegar, olive oil, pistachio, sweets and wine which you can taste before making the purchase. Their gift baskets are very thoughtful and beautiful. Their pistachio icecream is out of the world. You can taste real pistachios and it’s not too sweet, if you are diabetic. They also give small personalized 1:30pm FREE TOUR of the plantation, manufacturing, sorting, storing, quality control, packaging and distribution sites and it’s very educational. Carolyn and Kia were outstanding. Lovely ladies who served me and my mom very well. Thank you. If you see the owners, don’t forget to say “Hello”. You should try their wine flight and especially Gewurtztramuner (You can pronounce as Girls Are Meaner) wine. It’s not too dry or sweet. Just perfect. They also have wine membership which will save you 20% on the wine purchases, if you are interested. Wine membership is optional and they are not pushy to sell you the membership, which I like about them. The products are very reasonably priced and you can grab an ice cream or wine and chill out on their beautiful outdoor patio over looking plantation. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. Restrooms are fabulous. If you are a veteran don’t forget to grab your 10% discount. They don’t advertise discount, so you have to ask for it. If you are not happy about anything or have concerns just speak to one of the staff members and they will make it right. You will be treated with respect. We had a lovely time! Everyone one there was so sweet and kind. Their kindness was infectious. I read the negative reviews thankfully I didn’t feel an ounce of discrimination towards me or my family. Everything we tried was delicious. We stayed and enjoyed all the samples and enjoyed ice cream and wine outdoors in their patio. I did have to present my ID while checking out but I didn’t feel offended or take it personal I appreciated the safety. We plan to visit there again. :)

We headed to this place after our hike at white sands. Amazing options for wine tasting and it’s free :) Grabbed a bottle of their best white wine. Must stop by and also taste their different varieties in pistachio

The staff was so friendly. They offered to play us a video that showed how they first planted the pistachio trees and how they harvest and process them today, which was very neat, since we were there much earlier than the in-person tour they offer. They also gave us samples of all the various nuts they carry, as well as a wine tasting. We were impressed with the flavors of both! It was very sunny, so even though it was a bit chilly in early January when we visited, we enjoyed their outdoor patio and view of all the trees for a bit. I would highly recommend a visit if you are looking for something local to enjoy while passing through as we were.

I received 2 bags of these from a family member as an early Christmas present. These are by far the saltiest pistachios I've ever had. The size of the nut is great, but the overkill on salt makes it impossible to even taste the pistachio. Too bad.

I ordered five 5# bags of pistachios in the burlap bags well before Christmas but wanted one of the bags to be shipped so it would arrive closer to Christmas than the other four. I told the representative that I would call back and place that order. She told me no need, they would just put a hold on it and ship on Dec. 18th and it would arrive before Christmas. I called the day after Christmas and it had'nt even been processed. They appologized and said they would get it shipped. This was a gift for someone special that I had'nt seen in about 60yrs and it ruined my Christmas for them. Thank you Heart of the Desert.

This place is well taken care of. The staff is SO FRIENDLY! Miss Lisa was very kind and attentive. The wine is delicious and the treats are so dang tasty!! We will definitely be coming back by on our future trips.

Went to celebrate the 100th birthday for a friend. First time there and was highly impressed as a venue for a celebration of any kind.... wedding, party, special occasion. Gorgeous setting.

I just opened the bag that I bought on a recent road trip. Super salty pistachios. Was not aware that there was wine tasting. The store was extremely understaffed. Man, these pistachios are salty. I gotta go get a drink of water.

An amazing find in Alamogordo, NM. A charming venue where we enjoyed pistachio ice cream and wine on their relaxing patio looking out to the pistachio trees. We especially enjoyed chatting with the friendly, welcoming staff. A much calmer place than the overcommercialized touristy Pistachio Land down the road.

A+ surprise stop on our road trip from Ruidoso. The family and i loved every minute of our seemingly short visit to this gem. The wine, the gifts and can't forget to mention the quantity of diffrent pistachio flavors. Deliciousness in a shell. Will have to visit again. Thank you for the memories and the experience.

We had our daughter's quinceanera here and it was so beautiful. Marlo in events was so helpful with all the preparations. Everything went wonderfully and the wines tasted great. Highly recommend for the wine and venue!

Sadly, I was discriminated by my appearance. I am local construction worker and I stopped there last Friday with a friend to choose some wines for a party, I was wearing my bandana, and my clothes and steel toe boots with some construction dust. I gave to the lady my ID license and ask her for a glass for wine samples. She denied me twice. I just walked away. I trust in the freedom and justice of this review and common sense of the viewers. Probably the products of this company had good quality but the people attending customers are sinking the business. The happy side, I ended doing business with their neighbors.

I adore Heart of the Desert and the array of pistachio items. The staff was so friendly and helpful and gave us so many samples! Great idea because we bought a ton of fun treats and have become huge returning customers when we visit New Mexico. The Pistachio Rose' is delicious and delicate, and the only Rose' I will drink. The Viva la roja is my favorite, followed by the Syrah, which is equally impressive, and the Cab is great as well. I always grab a big bag of the green chile pistachios. They are a quintessential snack. My absolute favorite treat is the dark chocolate pistachio bark. I love that they ship, I only wish they could ship wine to my hometown!

We love coming to Heart of the Desert to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the open air patio flanked by flowers and pistachio trees. It's perfect to relax and enjoy a glass of their delicious wine or a bottle of cold crafted beer while munching on the spicy and savory pistachios or dipping spoons into a generous size cup of refreshing homemade pistachio ice cream.

Out of all the pistachios to get in Alamogordo, this is the family favorite. The candies and Chile roasted pistachios are all delicious and the staff is very helpful when it comes to sampling and finding something you like.

I recently came across this establishment while passing through, being an avid pistachio lover, I couldn't resist but make a detour to explore it. The place itself is quite impressive and worth a visit, especially if you're on your way to the White Sands Missile Range. However, my experience took an unpleasant turn when I reached the cashier's counter. As I handed over my card for payment, the cashier requested to see my ID in order to verify if the name on the card matched the one on my identification. What struck me was that there were four Caucasian individuals ahead of me who were not subjected to the same scrutiny. This incident left me feeling disrespected, particularly because the cashier appeared to be Latina while the other ladies at the register were Caucasian. Even the cashier at the adjacent counter seemed surprised by this discriminatory act. When I asked why my ID was necessary, she simply responded with a feeble excuse of "safety reasons" 😂. I mean, if I were making a substantial purchase of $100 or more, I could understand the caution, but not for a mere $12 😂. It's disheartening to witness such racism ingrained in ignorant minds.

The garlic and onion pistachios are to die for. I still dream about them, seriously. Loved the wine and the service, too! Such a great, beautiful little stop on our way to White Sands. We were just about the only people there, so it was quiet and relaxing.

Everyone here was so friendly! We got to taste pistachios, chocolates, oils, and wine for free. They even brought out water and popcorn for the toddler in our group. The staff made this an excellent experience and their products are all delicious! We bought a lot and will likely order online in the future.

Such an amazing facility with an awesome and very friendly staff!!! Although it is smaller than the other Mc Ginn's pistachio land, it is very classy, has very friendly staff giving very good service and they have so much of the local goodies to offer you for free! All of their samples are free to taste and they also have discounts on different holidays to offer you on their products to sell in store!!

My family and I have loved pistachios from Heart of the Desert since we were stationed at Holloman in the early 90s. We order online regularly, and I was able to visit the storefront in person again recently. It was a great visit!

These people make the greatest garlic onion pistachios in the world. I tried the best they had on Amazon and they do not compare. Heart of the Desert pistachios are the best there is.

It is a really interesting experience everything is made right there and if you go on back patio you can see the pistachio trees up close... Not something I've ever done in my East Coast/Midwest life.. . my husband loves the wine.. and it's very inexpensive for bottles of wine shipped to Florida... They also have assortment of all kinds of other things that you can sample! My favorite part was oil and vinegar like 50 different flavors kind of overwhelming your taste buds... And pistachio ice cream of course

WORST TOURIST STOP EVER ! Employee APRIL who’s supposed too be a manager &” worker MARSHAL we’re extremely rude they both along with another future employee with short brown hair made smart remarks about me &” my service animal. They were giving ugly looks as if they were disturbed by our presence. The Worlds Largest Pistachio treated us way better &” made us feel way more welcomed unlike this place who doesn’t deserve my money nor service ,I’ll never be back !!!! &” I’ll make sure other friends &” family members don’t either.

Outstanding service. Breathtaking view outside near the pistachio grove, under a beautiful covered porch. LIive music on Wednesday 6 pm. You have to try the Pistachio Rose wine, Chipolte and Garden Herb cheeses. Repeat customers.

We went in to see what they had. As soon as we walked in, the young ladies asked if we'd been there before and when we said we had not, they told us about what we could find and the tasting areas. We tried some pistachios and some candy all of which were really good. Ended up buying some. Then, Lacey took us to the wine sampling area and made some excellent suggestions and we ended up with some good wine to take back. She also explained the Zia symbol and looked for some pieces we wanted but they didn't have. All in all, a great visit to a place that is open till 6 pm in a town that closes at 5. They have oils, wines, pistachio products galore, gifts, jewelery, art and wall decor. In addition they have a free farm tour and a dinner on the patio every Wednesday which sounds quite interesting. Definitely recommend a visit. to this place.

Great time for Wine Down Wednesday's

On our way to El Paso, we saw the sign "the biggest pistachio in town", we had to stop at a place called Alamogordo NM.This place was awesome. They offer free tastings, wine different oil and vinegar flavors, pistachio popcorn, and of course pistachios itself. We left with 2 wines, 1 pineapple habanero (for dressing) vinegar, 1 smoky bbq vinegar, 2 bags of pistachios (×1 Chile lime& 1 garlic) and 1 caramel pistachio popcorn. We love the caramel so much, we had to go back after 3 weeks to get 2 more bags of popcorn. Would definitely recommend visiting this place.

Great pistachios, wine and souvenirs.

After having both been young Airmen here back in the late 70s and out oldest son born here, we come through semi frequently to revisit our old stomping grounds. We've brought our kids and grandkids too. Someone highly recommended we stop in here, while we usually go to another place down the road. We are so glad we did. Such a selection of coffees, wines, pistachios, and other gourmet treats! I must say up front that we are not wine drinkers, but they sure have a huge variety. They have wine tours, wine tastings, quite a versatile spot! Prices reasonable. Employees absolutely lovely. Warm welcoming and knowledgeable. Prices comparable to the other place. Check out all their activities! So glad we stopped! We'll be back!

We visited the wine tasting room and then came back for the free tour. Lisa and Michaela were our guides. Both were very knowledgeable, answering our many questions about the pistachio orchard and processing facility. It may not sound that exciting, but it was really interesting to hear the history and learn the process the nuts go through. All of the pistachio samples we tried were great, as were the wines!

Love the pistachios from there. We are traveling all over the USA and I have found no other pistachio that compares. All others taste old by comparison. Wonderful product and wonderful wine.

Ok I have not actually been to the physical location but have been ordering their pistachios for a couple of years now. This is absolutely top notch product folks. We love the chili-lime. I would not hesitate to try their wines either UrbanCowgill May 2022
