Good food, great service and no-fuss atmosphere. Our family stopped in Hole In The Wall for lunch with my two small children in tow. Our servers, one of which was the owner, were attentive and very friendly and our food came out piping hot! My favorite thing was the fried shrimp hands down. I didn't enjoy the crab cake as much but dip anything in their remolaude sauce and it's out of this world!

A must do if you're in Apalachicola and well worth the drive from surrounding areas. One of the few restaurants open on a Sunday afternoon. Wonderful seafood and great service.

Still great food. Miss the old owners and staff and their shenanigans.

OMGOSH!! Honestly almost no words to describe the fresh from the water shrimp here. Best I can recall, having in a very, very long time. This is the coolest little “ hole in the wall” place! The vibe is chill and fun.My husband said these are the best shrimp he has had since he left the Galveston Texas area 30 years ago!

We had oysters (raw & jalapeno bacon n cheddar), peel and eat shrimp, grouper basket crab cakes, crab claws, and cheeseburgers. For the first time our entire family loved everything we got, which is rare lol. I can't comend the owner Cliff and his staff enough for the hospitality, wonderful food and service. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

This is a very casual Apalachicola locals hotspot. A place you must try!. Love their peel $ shrimp with Cajun and old bay. They have an interesting and delicious twist on their tuna fish dip. Sure to check it out!

after debating with my mom if we should get raw oysters in July, we asked our server, and he said that the oyster rule is just an old saying so no one would get sick eating them before we had refrigeration, and he was right! THOSE WERE THE BEST OYSTERS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! They were (NO JOKE) the best oyster I have ever had in my entire life. Will def be coming back. Also the boiled shrimp is in the best Cajun drawn butter sauce. SO GOOD!

We had such a great experience at the restaurant with Cliff and his team over July 4th weekend! The shrimp was AMAZING! And the atmosphere was fun, definitely a can’t miss spot! They had the best crispy fries too :) We will be back for sure soon.

I've only been in the area for a week, but after a week's worth of other places, I wish I had come here first!

Me and my family really enjoyed this place! The food was PERFECT! Everything was fresh and I loved the atmosphere of the place (coming from someone who doesn’t like fancy places very much)! I (a minor) got the shrimp basket and it was lovely. It was fresh, juicy, great taste, and the hush puppies and fries were great! I had also tried the crab claws, and that was the first time I had liked them. This was also the first time I had eaten a whole plate of food from a restaurant in a while! My dad got the steamed oysters and said they were really good. I also liked the service! They were on top of things and kept asking us how the food was, and we were honest! The food was perfect!! I look forward to coming back!

Hidden gem…this is a must! Don’t just look in the window and walk away(we saw a few do this)! Delicious and great service.

First time eating here and I gotta say that I was impressed. The atmosphere was just right to make you feel relaxed. The oysters were huge and some of the best I have had. The peel and eat shrimp were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for great food and amazing atmosphere.

Been coming here for years. Best oysters east of the Mississippi. Under new ownership but still true to great food without a touristy vibe. Barb will always hold a special place in our hearts but the new crew has the place in tip top shape! Thank you for another wonderful meal!

We had a huge party over 17 with around 8 kids and these guys bent over backwards for us. Nice staff, good recommendations, and amazing food. I really loved the grouper raw oysters and fried shrimp. The tartar sauce is excellent and they have all the beer options necessary. I hope to come back again soon bc they can have all of my money

THIS is the place! Old Town bar setting with great service and awesome food! Smoked Fish dip, oysters raw & fried and fried shrimp!!! We will be back!

We stopped in for beers and oysters after a long day of house hunting. We tried a lot of the different oysters they offered. I enjoyed them all. The server was a little grumpy, though. But according to the regulars, that is the norm. Oysters were good, and beer was cold! Keylime pie was a great finish. I was happy.

Excellent local fare We had the fried shrimp basket. Best shrimp we've had on this trip. Hush puppies were outstanding. Service is friendly. We enjoyed the quirky ambiance.

The oyster and crab claw baskets were superb! Fresh and hot, delivered with a smile. I knew when we walked in and it smelled like a seafood market and not a bar that we were in for a treat!

Stopped in for a snack in between lunch and dinner, while exploring the downtown area. The staff is very friendly and out going, and were helpful when asked questions about the area. We ordered steamed oysters, they were excellent and huge; the best we’ve had in that area.

I’m so glad we stopped here! The food was all delicious but the boiled shrimp were perfectly cooked and so well seasoned and fresh. We look forward to coming back.

This was our second (and third) visit. We were so taken by the flavor of the oysters we came back for more! Unfortunately the local oysters were not available yet. They are being replenished due to a storm. They get them from Texas waters for now and they are very good as well. Also tried the grouper fish basket, fantastic. This is the place to go in Apalachicola!! Can't wait to go back.

I really enjoy this place every time I get to Northern Florida and we go to Appalachia Cola always stop at the hole in the wall for oysters and a couple beers. really enjoy the ambience it really is a hole in the wall. It recently changed hands but the new owners it might take him a little bit but they're doing pretty good. Give him a chance definitely check out. They are working on different stuff, food items. Good job new owners keep up the good work.

Had the grouper sandwich, which was ordinary. Just a deep fried piece of bland breaded grouper on a bun. Service was very polite and attentive, which countered the disappointing meal. A friend had the burger and an equally meh opinion. Note that they charge a nominal fee for using your credit card.

Sadly we came on a rainy day and had to sit at the bar. Took an hour for tuna dip and crab claws. Bathroom totally nasty. Look at pictures for dust bunnies everywhere. Bathroom so nasty dirty. 2 good things.. the waitress Aunt Ash super kind.. and the food tasted great. Won't be back. Don't go on a rainy day . The picture with the vented door is caked with nastiness that lead to the kitchen

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the oysters. My husband and brother-in-law had the seafood gumbo. I thought it was pretty pricey for a bowl at $18.50 and they both said there was no seafood in it..just broth and rice a small pieces. Must have been scooped from the top as we see most people enjoyed it. They were very disappointed.

Awesomeness on steroids! Simple ingredients, well prepared and presented with a virtual hug. Kindness flows from every corner of this place.

Fried oysters were super savory, not too masked by the breading, not overcooked. Fries similarly were substantial so as to taste like potato, not like "fried," yet not very thirst-provoking (for fries). Hush puppies were also excellent.

My FAVORITE local haunt every time I hide away in Apalach...the new owner is AMAZING, and it was wonderful to see the old crew in the kitchen...the food is great (thanks for that hushpuppy tip) and it always feels like HOME when you stop by and hang out. Did I mention it has the best Key Lime anywhere in town? LOVE YOU FOLKS! Thanks for making our recent vacation something special. Can't wait to come back again soon...

Terrific shrimp and oysters, owner and staff very friendly.

Was not super busy when we arrived on Fri 3/1 about 350. One large party of 8, second party of 5 thee one couple and a man finishing a dozen raw oysters. The 5 men working were super efficient in getting tables wiped down, getting us seated and menus in hand. I ordered a Merlot, He ordered a can of Oyster City "Tates Helles" German beer. A large fried Grouper sandwich, 2 french fries filled me up in 3 bites. His generous bowl of Seafood Gumbo took him 50 min to finish. He loved it! The guys were fun to watch & listen to. Very friendly, professional, and attentive to details and their customers. Would definitely recommend it. Nothing pretty about the place, but it really is all about the food!!! The longer we stayed, the busier it became, you know this place has a great reputation to match the food!

I suggest checking out the "Raw Oysters Bar" located in the downtown area. They offer a wide variety of fresh and delicious oysters, served raw. It's a great place to indulge in some seafood and enjoy the unique flavors of different oyster varieties. The Service is amazing too, they taught us about why oysters are so popular in the local area.

This is a very laid-back restaurant for people who love good fresh seafood. The food is better than many of the overpriced highbrow restaurants around the only reason I hate to leave a good review is that the next time I go, it may be too crowded to get a table.

This joint is the epitome of what I expect in Apalachicola. I grew up nearby and have been coming to Apalach since I was a child. This place won't disappoint you. Good oysters, good food, and a good beer selection. Friendly people. What else do you need?

Service service service.. sat at your bar waiting for a menu to order while you ate your sandwich chitchatting.. then asked for my check for the one beer and searched for my ticket. Never was a ticket because I couldn’t order food without a menu.. Go to The Station 5star service and great food..

Nice little place to eat. We stayed at SGI and ate here on the last day. It was the best grouper I had all week. Hush puppies are good. The people there are super friendly. Your kids can find the 6 hidden eyes in holes in the wall.

First the oysters were the most plump and tasty we’ve had in a while. However service seemed a bit chaotic. They were friendly just seemed frazzled!

This is a regular stop for us every year when we travel from Tennessee. The raw oysters are the absolute freshest I've had and I've sampled oysters all over the country for the last 30 years.

We met the new owners and they are great. They vowed not to change Hole in the Wall, an Apalach beloved institution.

0 stars Older extremely rude to out of town customers. Very argumentative and refused to bring drinks and take order. Our party sat there for 30 minutes with no order taken. Local couple walked in and were immediately asked “Do you want your usual?” She submitted the order. When I tried to give my order, she said I’d have to wait longer. Then she lied and said the couple called their order in, when I HEARD her ask them if they wanted their “usual”. Elderly man behind counter shucking oysters chimes in and advised us we would not be getting our oysters any time soon. Incredibly rude. Won’t be back. Elderly man and woman have MANY negative reviews.

These people were extremely rude and ignored us. They made rude comments directly at us. I do NOT recommend coming here to eat. The place was disgusting as well.

Service does not even rate 1 star. The waitress was very rude and belligerent. The elderly shucker of the oysters was nasty and told us we might never get our order. Absolutely disgusting. We walked out. I would never recommend this nasty hole in the wall. Bathroom was basty.a

If I could put a zero star, I would. This place was so gross, the tables were nasty and not wiped down, the employees were extremely rude and didn’t even wait on us. She was an elderly women scooping ice out of a cooler with her bare hands as she was sweating. The elderly guy in there was very rude also to my mom and told her that we won’t be getting our order anytime soon. I would never recommend this nasty place. 🤢

Walked in 2 hours before close and sat down for 10 minutes without being talked to, even though we were the only other group in there other than the one that was walking out the door. We also had to wipe down our own table as it was sticky and had food on it.

Hey I am a really understanding person, but when I say the worst service I've had years is a understatement. We walked in as they opened and a large crowd whipped in. Everyone found a table and that's were it all went wrong. This loud rude ,obnoxious lady completely ignored my wife and I for 45 minutes. No order taken.. we made eye contact and almost brushed shoulders 5 times, and nothing. One old man Danny gave us a drink after about 25 minutes. They lady kept yelling at the old man telling him to get out of the way or go away.. as people came in she just told them sorry no room we don't take names, come back in an hour. After we saw she was just treating customers anyway she felt I asked her to come over and take money for our drinks we were leaving. She gave a smug look and brushed me off as to say don't worry about it just leave.. I made sure to over pay because I wouldn't go in there to hide from cannibals after that experience.. Garbage dump people skills.

Our family should have walked right on out when it took 10 minutes to receive menus & 15 more minutes to receive canned drinks. The waitress spoke to the adults like we were toddlers, and she treated the kids even worse. She was drunk and made this meal the absolutely the worst experience we've ever received in Apalachicola or anywhere else for that matter. She screamed, yelled, and wasn't attentive. And forget a second drink. No one behind the bar cared that she was screaming at them either. Never again!!

At 11:30 am some of the staff was already 3 sheets to the wind. The oysters were terrible only ate 2 out of the dozen. The chicken sandwich was overcooked. I did over hear the staff talking about the place has been sold and by the end of the month they were going to work somewhere else. Just felt so uncomfortable listening to the staff yelling at each other. Worse experience we've ever had.

Great craft beer selections, no food served

Would have loved to try the oysters but you can't take them to go, can't eat them out at the front patio table and can't have small dog inside. Obviously not going to sit inside eating while my dog is outside 🙄 These ppl make no sense.

We had the jalapeno, bacon, cheddar oysters; they were wonderful! Prices are good and the owner was great!

What a terrible place. We walked in and it smelt terrible, the floor and table were sticky and when we asked if we could sit outside they were so rude to us we literally got up and walked out and they were practically cussing at us when we walked out of the door. Definitely do not recommend, go to the station oyster bar, soo much better!

Be prepared to wait. After waiting 5 minutes to have anyone notice me, I asked a wise man at the bar what it took to get service at this joint, and he said "patience". So when he got his food about 10 min later, I tried placing an order, but was bluntly told that they were too busy to take my order. So a little while later the same person came back and took my order. He then went out for a smoke break in the middle of the shift. I 'eventually' got my food (grouper plate with fries and hush puppies), which was very good. I was told this place has always been like this and that's just how it is in this city. So keep that in mind if you come here. And don't be in a hurry, especially if your party cannot fit at the bar, as seating is limited.

Weren’t able to eat there as the place was full, and the staff wasn’t intersted in helping us place a to-go order. Went to the Station instead and had a great meal there.

Stopped in for lunch and were wowwed by the bartenders and waitress (owner?) who was keeping everyone in line. What a show! We had a dozen raw oysters and they were large and tasty. Small place but it was hopping for a late lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Sign says that the place is for sale. It may be changing soon, but as of now it is a great place. All the staff are a hoot!

We were there last evening for Oysters and they were yummy. My husband said they were the best he had ever had. They were large and fixed to perfection by the ower. He also greeted us at our table, spent quite a while telling us about the area, himself, and that he was hoping to be retired in a few months. Didn't catch his name but we really enjoyed our visit. The Oysters, Shrimp and Hushpuppies are delish

We were here in November of 2019. I had seen all the signs about the world's best oysters from Apalachicola Bay etc., so I picked up my son after his class in Panama City and drove all the way back only to be told that the Bay had been "fished out" that they were bringing in oysters from Texas. Bummer, seeing as how we are from the Texas Gulf Coast. However, bay conditions are NOT their fault, and the place and people were fun. We had a good visit.

If I could give zero starts I could! Hole in the wall is right. What a crabby lady behind the counter my gosh! My 15 yr old niece went in to order some apps and the lady literally yelled at her because we were having amazing beer at the brewery next door and she was ticked we were not ordering beers so she said “well you will be last on the list since your not drinking here, that’s why we hate serving the brewery people.” I went inside to cancel our order and told her what my niece had told me and she said, “she’s fine, she’s fine and your order is already in.” I said well I’m sorry but cancel my order. But seriously who chews out a poor little 15 yr old who comes into your establishment to give business!?

Fun place, loved gumbo and shrimp. Hush puppies! Sit at counter. Enjoy the yummy food!
