One of the best hidden gems in New Jersey. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic. The food is perfection. The staff is amazingly attentive and George our server couldn’t be more pleasant and fun. The whole experience eating at a restaurant is determined y the staff and George made our experience amazing. The entire staff at il Colosseo is super friendly. I can’t wait to come back.

I’ve been here twice this week already, and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I have found my new favorite Italian restaurant!!!

I used to love this restaurant when it was a BYOB, not anymore! To be honest the food and the service are top shelf. The prices when it was a BYOB were a bit high but that is to be expected at a BYOB restaurant! Now that you have to pay for high priced “measured pour” liquor it looses its appeal! Note the prices are the same even with a full service bar. I gave it 3 stars for atmosphere because when the restaurant if full you can’t hear yourself speak! Unfortunately I will not be back. There are many more good BYOB Italian restaurants in Monmouth County to choose from!

The hostess was so nice and so adorable. She was so helpful and a ray of sunshine. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. I will be back! You cannot find better authentic Sicillian food in the northeast.

Words can’t express how much I love this place. Very authentic Sicilian food and amazing staff. George always takes care of us and goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome as well as the owner Pasquale. It really is a one of a kind hidden gem in Middletown.

I had the absolute most loveliest time here. My husband and I are new to the town and we heard of this restaurant. One Saturday we came and our hostess, Sarah , was so nice and lovely. She made sure we were comfortable with our table and made us feel welcome. In regards to our server, Henry, was very kind. He made sure we were good with our entree’s and repeatedly checked on our table. Great restaurant and amazing service. I recommend!

Came here on Sunday July 14,2024 for our Aunts 70 th Birthday. The food, service and attention to detail is exquisite top notch!!! A must visit in Red Bank NJ

Food was amazing! However the service was not great and the noise level was high. We went on a Saturday night and it was very crowded. However I still recommend this restaurant because the food was fantastic.

I recently had my son's first birthday here and everything was outstanding. Pasquale the owner was very easy to work with and very accommodating. Everyone kept talking about how delicious the food was and the incredible service. The staff went above and beyond. I am looking forward to hosting other parties at Il Colosseo!

We had dinner tonight, on a Tuesday, and it was pretty full for a weekday. That says something right there. This was our first time here. Everyone loved their meal. Everything was delicious, fresh and so tasteful. Presentation was also very nice. We tried the Sicilian margarita and it was PHENOMENAL. Sooo yummy. Service was excellent. Thanks Antonio! We will definitely be back!

We had my daughters bridal shower here On Sunday, and everything from the service to the food was perfect! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food was. They were so accommodating through every step of the way. Would highly recommend!

Honestly, the food is very good, but the place is too loud. It’s the prices that bother me. $20 salad, $38 veal franchaise. It just feels like a money grab. It’s off my list, at least for now.

This was our first time here, we heard good things about this place so we figured why not. Don’t get discouraged if you wait! We had a 8:45 seating but the restaurant couldn’t seat us until 9:15. Once we sat down we were greeted by Henry who made us feel like we were regular guests. He was very nice and polite. The food was very good & fresh. The sauce was on point 🥕was used in the sauce Bravo to the chef. You are getting a Brooklyn experience in food quality. Noise levels are a bit high but the owner is working on that. Thanks to Mr. Pasquale he’s doing an excellent job running this business for the last four years. This is a must try place that could become your regular spot.

This is by far our favorite restaurant! We first dined at the Brooklyn location two years ago and then we’re thrilled to find out there was a restaurant in Red Bank. The quality and portions are great. So many choices on the menu. The chicken franchais is the best I have ever had , the spaghetti cooked to perfection, My husband had the pescatore risotto and hasn’t stopped raving about it. Every dessert is a treat. The staff is fantastic, from Paul and Henry to Lily the hostess and the rest of the staff. Excellent service and you are made to feel so welcome. We’re coming.back in two weeks with friends to turn them onto this gem!

My family and friends have dined here many times. Everyone has always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Our family hosted a funeral luncheon today at the restaurant. The owner and waiters, Pasquale, Antonio and Paul could not be gracious enough. They were patient and accommodated all of us. The first generation of our family started on Mott Street in NYC. The next generations scattered over the years, but we all enjoyed dining and gathering today at a place that felt just like home! Our family felt comfortable and the food was delicious, as we gathered and celebrated the life of our loved one. I highly recommend the restaurant for events or for a lunch or dinner outing!

We had wanted to try Il Collosseo since it opened, but never had the opportunity. Went tonight with a group of 9 (7 adults, 2 children under 8). The restaurant was packed (which was a good sign) but it was LOUD and I feared that it would be a bad experience, especially for my older parents. Paul, our server was excellent. In fact all the servers worked in unison to help each other out and it seem d like it didn’t matter who walked past our table, everyone was willing to help - top notch service! For appetizers we ordered 1 regular calamari, 1 calanari agrodolce (special), 2 clams oregenato, 2 margherita pizzas & 1 order of meatballs with ricotta. Food was delicious. Each bite seemed better than the next. The calamari were cooked perfectly - light and tender. The Agrodolce (sweet & sour) sauce on the other calamari dish was outstanding, I’d out that sauce on anything and it would taste good. Clams were tasty, although a bit on the larger side for oreganato & the pizza cooked in their wood fired oven could stand toe to toe with some of the best in the state. Entrees ordered were the Veal Chop, the Pork Chop, 2 Shrimp Fra Diavolo with spaghetti, Chicken vodka parmigiana with penne & a fresh parpardelle pasta dish. They had fresh chicken & fries for the kids and we were told most entrees could be made into kid sized seevings. Everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. The portions were very generous and leftovers were taken home. Pasquale (owner? Manager?) greeted our table and was a gracious host. Many after-dinner drinks (limoncello, amaro, espresso, etc) were consumed and dessert after that. Table ordered pistachio tartufo (special) tiramisu, crème brûlée & Affogato. The tiramisu & crème brûlée are definitely made in house. They were extremely fresh and delicious. The pistachio tartufo was also fantastic. All in all a great night out celebrating 2 birthdays with delicious food and excellent service. If I could change 1 thing, it would be the noise level, but to have that amazing food and service in Middletown NJ, I’ll take the trade off!

The food was wonderful however, the service was terrible. The place was packed so it took some time and that was expected but, when the food was delivered but no one ever stopped by to ask if we needed anything, did we want crushed pepper, more water, if the food was prepared correctly, nothing. However, we did notice that tables around us were definitely receiving more attention. Was that because there were male customers at those tables, and we were a table of all females? Not 100% sure however, from my vantage point it sure looked like it.

IMPECCABLE!!!! The amazing food, the amazing service! It was beyond. Our teens said it was the best dinner they have ever had and I’m not arguing. Fantastic!

2nd visit here last Sunday and what can I say? Its delicious!!!! All 4 of us had zero issues w apps, entrees or desert. The service is top notch as well. Its a small place and loud. Its a byob which helps out w the bill alot. A liquor license is in the works so soon Itll be more expensive, its not cheap now, but when getting insane food and great service who cares. Will be back a 3rd time.

We had our sons baptism here. It was absolutely amazing. The servers went above and beyond for our friends and family. The food was fantastic and everyone was raving about it!

We frequently get take out from here and the food is always amazing. We then decided to host our daughters christening here. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food. The service was amazing as well. Can’t recommend enough.

Had my daughter’s bridal shower today, I can’t say enough about this place, the staff, the food and the service. Everyone raved about the food not only was it delicious, it was abundant. The service was amazing. They made everyone feel at home, helped us with everything, accommodated us with whatever we needed. There aren’t enough starts for this place. One of my favorite Italian places in New York and New Jersey area! Authentic flavors, cozy ambiance, and exceptional service ( George is the best). You should definitely need to try their their Lobster Ravioli pasta! And prices are really reasonable for the quality.

The food is top notch, the atmosphere is enhanced by the Italian classics on speaker and the staff are on the ball and always accommodating. What else do you need? The food and the service was excellent! The spicy shrimp tempura stuffed in the radicchio was outstanding. The veal Marcella was the best I’ve ever had.

My mom and I stopped here on a whim as we used to live in the area and we were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. Our waiter was such a nice gentleman, so respectful so hard to find in this day and age. The food was incredible and then we had dessert and I only thought to take a picture of my dessert. Sorry it was the Oreo cookie cheesecake. Yum! Yum! If you're ever in this area, definitely stop in. The food is well worth it!

Date night, celebrations, or just dinner out, Il Colosseo is the place that is perfect for all. Great Italian restaurant with the original in Brooklyn. Amazing food and service. Been there at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed. Specials change daily and are well worth it. Desserts are fantastic, too. We always ask for Alfredo to be our server as he is impeccable and friendly. Atmosphere is great, but it can get kind of loud. They had live music once, and it made the dining experience. Wish they would bring it back. Can't wait for the next night out!

If you would like to experience authentic Italian food without leaving the states, then you must go to Il Colosseo! I hosted a double 70th birthday party for my parents there on Saturday and had the best experience ever at restaurant. From the amazing and attentive staff to the accommodating managers, Il Colosseo goes above and beyond 5 star service. Having multiple guests who are from Italy rave all night about how delicious the food was should tell you that this is the place to go for excellent Italian.

We hosted my in laws surprise birthday here tonight. It was nothing short of spectacular. The food is straight from Italy, the management is wonderful, and the service was top notch. I cannot recommend this place enough! The owner makes sure you have the best experience and my in laws had an unforgettable evening thanks to the il Colosseo staff! Grazie!!!

**Update July 26th** I received a phone call today from a gentleman who introduced himself as one of the owners. After a few minutes of speaking with him it was clear to me that he was sincere & had a great reason not to remain open on that day. I have been to this restaurant in the past and had a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely make reservations again and support our local establishments, as we have always done in the past. Thank you, for the phone call Mr .P!! ***7/24/23*** Very, very disappointed! I made a reservation through OpenTable about 2 months ago for this evening…. Unfortunately upon our arrival and to our displeasure the restaurant was closed with a note left on the door apologizing for them being closed. I would have been ok with it if I was given a little notice, but a note with no notice is a terrible business practice.. Open Table even confirmed my reservations a few days prior… smh…
