My wife was in the hospital, and I needed something to carry me through for a few nights since I was spending the better part of the day with her and would be too tired at the end of the day to cook for myself. I placed my order online at the hospital and picked it up on the way home. I had the salmon hibachi dinner and an order of tempura shrimp (5). Everything was delicious. The dinner also included a house salad and soup. The salmon just on its own was terrific! Prices are reasonable and the staff friendly. My wife is now back home, and hopefully, normality soon takes over. Enjoy!

worst place . Found cooked flies in food- food tasted disgusting. Brown Rice tasted like it had been tossed in the garbage. Don’t know why this place has high reviews- save your money go elsewhere

The sushi was alright , the onion soup was very good. Our waitress was there literally every time I turned around , she was great ! The atmosphere was a basic place .

Excellent sushi menu and the hibachi is fantastic! I had the Donkey Kong roll and the Mario roll to complete the Nintendo set and it was amazing.

Clean restaurant, easily the best Asian/hibachi in the area, and the staff are so friendly and I couldn’t tell you who my server is because everyone who works here is checking on me and helping me when I need.

Drive 30 mins one way, picked up$98 order, asked to check if everything there, got home , missing a dinner, called, they cant credit once its paid for, i could come back, right. Never order again n will tell everybody i know.

I really loved this place — clean, fast and wonderful rolls. We just happened upon it by chance and I’m really glad we did. Staff is very nice too.

Very good and reasonably priced lunch. All was fresh and tasty. The rolls are amazing and good lunch special — any two rolls, salad and soup for $13.95! Husband had chicken Habachi lunch and it came with noodles, fried rice, veggies, soup and salad. I ordered one of their rice bowls, which had fried rice and teriyaki chicken for $6.95. All very good and friendly service!

Our new favorite restaurant in Tavares for Japanese food. We've been there 3 times after our mani/pedi down at August Nails. Fantastic food. You get TONS of food. Plenty to take home.

We absolutely loved eating at Japan Express. It was our first time there and with food allergies we are always cautious of where we eat. Our server (who may have been the owner?) went above and beyond to ensure our food was safe of our allergens, was attentive, constantly checking in on us, and she was super kind to our youngest. We went during lunch and our portions were very well served. So much so that we all had tons of left overs that we will enjoy for dinner! We love Japanese Cuisine and Japan Express did not disappoint. I had their miso soup and Chicken Hibachi and everything was great tasting (not overly salty, it was just right). We will definitely be returning and can safely say we have found our Hibachi spot! (PS. The ginger sauce on their salad and their white sauce were yum!).

Nice people nice food nice everything

This is our favorite sushi place in the area. My husband and I were so surprised when we discovered it a few years ago. Super friendly service. Lots of great sushi roll options. Everything tastes great. Love the roll combo. Kids love it too. My preschoolers always love when we take them out for sushi.

Food is good- a little heavy on the noodles and rice in the dinner special. Would have liked more vegetables. This was a to go order for clients so I didn’t eat there. Staff was very helpful when I called in with questions about order that was delivered by grub hub.

I didn’t come and order chicken to get a bunch of noodles and not even a whole piece of chicken!! The first time over a year ago I ate there was great so I went back about three months ago and barely got any chicken, I decided to give it one last try and again barely any chicken a bunch of rice and noodles which the rice is just white rice nothing else in it and the noodles are mushy and salty and let just say the vegetables has a ton of onions.. I will never eat here again until they get it together! I get food went up but your prices did too so the portion size should match the amount I spend on it!!

Very friendly staff. Owner is extremely pleasant. I come here for Sushi. Soup and salad are good and usually comes with what I order. Nigiri is good fresh fish. I recommend the Mount Dora roll and the Japan Express roll.

Nice owner/manager and employee. Having lived in Japan and Hawaii I just don't know how this restaurant got almost 4.5 stars. Overcooked, tasteless, and the furthest thing from Japanese food. Didn't have sushi, but considering what we bought for nearly $40. I would not consider sushi either. So sorry.

Great place, friendly staff, and food that hits the spot! Sushi basics are always fresh and delicious with lots to choose from, or you can order hot food from the kitchen with delicious and quick service. Great food and specials that don't empty your wallet. I will warn you. Once you go and enjoy, you will go back again and again.

Great place for a roll or two. We had the lunch special with two rolls, soup and ginger salad. The rolls were really good and definitely a new go to place. Staff was kind, knowledeable and efficent. Some of the best ginger salad I have ever had, the little things show the care and concern the kitchen has for the menu. Stop by for lunch.

Good food, tasty w great presentation. But ... hidden in a funky strip mall ... so don't worry, the restaurant is super.

The food was definitely lacking the "Hibachi" flavor. I saw like a drizzle of the sauce flavoring on the food.. unlike other hibachi Japanese restaurants they cook it with the seasoning. So I'm not sure what happened. But I'm sure it could be better.

The food wasn’t too bad. But the waitress took my order and they brought my food and that was the last I saw of anybody. They waited on everyone else and never came back even to ask how’s everything, do you need anything else, not to bring a check or ask if I wanted a go box. I got up to pay my bill at the counter and then the waitress asks me if I wanted a box. I said NO not when now there’s been flys landing on my food that had been sitting there because NOBODY came to check on me.

The Japan Express was clean, and the food was excellent. I went for the sushi and was not disappointed as their Yellow Tail was the best! Oh, and the prices are not unreasonable for the quality received. They must be called "Express" as they have a great following for take out, delivery as well as dine in. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. We will definitely return!

Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered Hibachi & Sushi. The Hibachi serving was plentiful and the Sushi was great. Krab Rangoon was yummy too. We will be back.

The food and staff are very good!

I got sick from the sushi I had .I was so nauseated and sick to my stomach for 2 days. I should have stopped eating when some of the shrimp and crab tasted fishy.

Don't recommend ordering thru the beyond menu app. They never recieved our order. Food is very good 👍 just unfortunate we had to order again once we arrived to pick up.

This is the second time in a week my boyfriend and I had dinner there. The first time was takeout, and tonight we dined in. Both times I ordered the combo sushi meal and my boyfriend got hibachi. The server was quick and attentive and our food was out in less than 10 minutes. The food is definitely affordable and the portions are generous. I highly recommend.

Every single time I place my order here, I can’t help but, to be so grateful for Katie and David! They always go above and beyond, especially with how difficult I can be with placing my order or having modifications. They are always so nice, the food is so good and hot and most importantly… Everything is in the bag every time I have ordered takeout. If you’re in the food industry or you order takeout, you know how important it is to have everything in your bag. They have good prices, the sushi is ALWAYS fresh, and the hibachi is always hot. Well done Japan Express, you will continue to get my business!!!

There dinner special comes with steak &Chicken veggies noodles, rice , soup and salad!! And it it absolutely amazing especially with the white sauce we eat here atleast twice a month! There sushi is also amazing and fresh!! Highly recommend

It is always ready on time if they say it's going to be 15 minutes It'll be 15 minutes for pickup and they always have a special I think they were running a steak and chicken special with noodles and all that stuff for $14 the other week and then last night they were running a special for steak shrimp and chicken for 19 which I think is pretty good it will last you about 2 days of eating

There isn't one bad thing we can say about this place. Great customer service. Amazing food. And they remember my family everytime we come.. even when it's been 5 months. She can tell my daughter everytime where we had sat last. These people CARE

I loveeee this place and have spent a lot of money here through out the years. It would be nice if they could stay open till 9 or 9:30 though. 8:30 is just a little too early for some people.

I had a great sushi meal, but both my husband and toddler granddaughter shared a chicken hibachi and felt sick afterward. Our server was excellent, attentive and engaging. This location is simple and meant to be an express meal. It was definitely within my expectations and exceeded my expectations in customer service.

The service is excellent and friendly. The restaurant is very simple inside with no atmosphere to speak of. The sushi is fresh and very reasonably priced, and if you order a sushi or sashimi regular or deluxe, you will get soup and salad. My husband had the hibachi which he said was very good. A great place to go if you get that craving!

Fantastic place, Asian food served the way it should, at a reasonable affordable price in a big bowl, and their rolls are amazing! Servers were attentive and the food came out fast with no short cuts taken.
