It's a small place but quite popular as evidenced by the crowds I see in the parking lot. I had a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Fresh home cut fries on the side...what more could you want??

Soo yum! And it's affordable! We had to leave our favorite breakfast place behind when we moved here from the coast, but this makes up for it. The service is nice, the food is great and the prices are affordable. Only one dollar for a bowl of grits! Way cheaper and probably better than other breakfast places in town. Really good coffee, loaded hash browns are amazing, and grits are buttery and tasty. Definitely will be back. Reveiw update July 2024: visited again. The service was still nice, and the grits were still buttery and tasty. The coffee was weak, and the peppers in my hash brown casserole were undercooked. It's still a nice affordable place for bfast, though.

If you’re looking for avocado toast, this is not the place, but a good country breakfast is what you’ll find! Homemade biscuits, gravy,country ham and pancakes the size of your head! Highly recommend for a hearty country breakfast

The dining area seems small and a little crowded when they're busy, but that will not prevent me from eating there. The food is great and the servers are friendly.

Waitresses were a little disorganized. The acoustics contributed to a very loud atmosphere in the dining room, which at times was uncomfortable. The food was 'good', but not good enough to go back for. And oh yeah, the 'No Spitting' sign hanging outside the front door created a truly unique ambiance that is hard to describe. Made me look down and wonder if I was treading in . . . yuuukkkkkk!!!

Eggcelent. 5 stars across the board. The food was great, we loved the omelets and pancakes. Our server was sweet and professional. The prices were crazy good for what you get. We'll absolutely be back, for a good simple homemade breakfast, you can't beat it.

To go orders take to long!! Ordered on Toast was suppose to be done at 615 sitting waiting 40 minutes.

The food and prices are great for this diner. Our cups of coffee were never empty. Smiling waitress but the place could have been a little cleaner. We didn't know that we just finish and head to the register to pay.

We had John's cater our wedding; they did a fantastic job. We did breakfast for supper and our guests loved it. All we did was show up and eat, no need to worry about any of the details because they took care of it all. The presentation was great and the service was sublime.

Wonderful food, staff and owner. Great asset to our small community. The chicken salad/pimento cheese and fruit combo is my favorite menu choice.

Great place for breakfast! This place was recommended to us and wow! It was absolutely delicious! I got the two for two breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and sausage- it was a TON of food and all of it was amazing! My husband got the bowl with grits, biscuits, gravy, eggs and sausage. The service was very prompt and all staff was so kind. We will definitely be back!

Our server was quick to get to us and take our order. The food took a while, but it usually does here. My fiance got the Blackened Salmon. She had 2 bites and noticed it tastes like chemicals. She asked the server if she could have just a plain salmon. She felt like during the blackening it caused it to taste that way. The blond girl in the kitchen had a nasty attitude saying"there is nothing wrong with it" and refused to make another one. We are regulars and NEVER send things back even when the fries are burned or the burger is raw in the middle. Not sure if she realized that we were sitting by the kitchen window or not. But we were and we heard. We love to go to Mom and Pop places and support local and it is sad to be treated like that. It is our last trip here.

This used to one of our favorite places that we went to alot but after how I was just treated we wont ever be back again. If you do decide to go anyway, and your food tastes like it was cooked over burning linoleum, dont bother saying anything about it because it will be met with a horrible attitude and you will just leave mad.

Arrived at 5:07pm. Finally got two hamburgers at 5:47pm. Never was offered the special of the day.

Stopped in with a friend for dinner. I've only had breakfast from here until now. I ordered a hamburger steak and they cooked it to medium rare and I added chili and cheese, with fries and slaw. Very good. My friend got the grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Also delicious. The food took a while to get but was crowded. Had 2 crying babies that were right next to us but tolerable. Will definitely be back.

Use to be my spot, would go by a few times a week. My company makes big orders often as well. Service isn’t the same since a few servers are no longer there. I placed an order online today, get there and the order wasn’t even in. No sorry for the inconvenience or nothing. Got a big bowl of lumps that was supposed to be grits. Probably won’t go back. Like everywhere else young servers just don’t can’t about customer service or being friendly.

Arrived for breakfast and noticed a line, added my name quickly and was adviswd 4th in line, waited outside for ~5-10minutes before being called in. The outside seemed a bit dark and gloomy from the brown exterior but, once called inside, we were greeted by a friendly host and escorted to our table, the inside was clean and had a homey feel about it. The wait staff appear to share responsibility and help out where needed. The prices observed online spawned the initial draw to the restaurant, and the food received did not disappoint! With a little over $8 for a 3 egg omelet that was loaded with flavor and fixings, I ended up leaving very full and some even had to bring food home. I look forward to trying other meals at this establishment.

I live close by and eat breakfast and dinner there often. It’s super busy but they turn tickets fast and the food is outstanding every time!

Great little diner in Cannons area of Spartanburg. Good burgers, club sandwich, and of course the breakfast is real good. I spend a lot of time in Cannons Camp ground. John’s is very close, very good, and a staple here in the community. Helmets off to John’s Cafe.

Sometimes you just can't beat a classic. And it's hard to beat the prices! For $8.99 you can get two eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 pancakes the size of your head. This place is a no brainer.

Oh my goodness. What a little gem of a restaurant. I ordered the grilled pimento cheese & bacon sandwich and it was absolutely yummy. the pimento cheese was the BEST I've had in a long while. The onion rings I ordered were definitely homemade and so good. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered the 6oz sirloin with potatoes and veggies and he was very pleased with his steak. Highly recommend.

Great food, real busy, but worth the wait!!!

The two servers tag teamed me and provided excellent service. The food is always exceptionally tasty, and an incredible value. I don't know how he stays in business charging such low prices. The portions, especially the smaller portions aren't huge. So you get what you pay for definitely, and you get full and you don't have to take half of it home.

What can I say about this place this is the best diner in whole entire Spartanburg county area! This is actually my go-to restaurant the only place that ever impressed me time after time. And never had any issues I continually keep constantly going back a few times a week atleast I have told multiple people about this place everything that I've gotten to eat here I thoroughly enjoyed loved the redneck burger and the onion rings was the 💣 🔥 tried many things on the menu never gotten anything that I didn't care for definitely check this place out you won't be disappointed highly recommend this restaurant establishment💯

First time eating there had chicken filet with Hashbrown and egg . I enjoy to chicken and hash brown. The prices of the food are pretty reasonable.

Amazing food alot to choose from we got alot of little picky eaters and everyone loved it great flavor overall green beans are top notch and the honey mustard i normally dont like honey mustard but they got that good good 😋

My first visit here with a friend, and being new to the area, I was unaware of this establishment. It was immediately apparent that this is a favored haunt of the locals. John's offers multiple menu options that feature expected American - style fare. My order of grilled lemon pepper chicken was good and accompanied by the vegetable of the day, fried okra - also, quite good - and sweet potato fries that did not measure up to the other items. Either I received the bottom of the basket or the cook took his eye off the preparation. Service was friendly and prompt. This is a working man's dining choice with simple, straight-forward menu options and affordable prices. I would like to try it sometime for breakfast.

Loved it! Delicious...seriously taste the fresh mushrooms, grilled onions and turkey in my Omelet! Yum..2 eggs. Jonathan, my server was incredible. Quick, at my service and very kind! Must go and enjoy! The owner and daughter.. really great people!

Best place I have ever been for breakfast. I bought a huge gravy biscuit and 2 eggs and my mom 2 eggs and bacon, 2 coffee and a sweet tea for under 13 bucks. Very Clean place and everyone was so nice.
