Good restaurant, a little old and shabby the environment but the food is good, even if not very light. The lamb was very good.

Wonderful dinner and great service.

Our AirBnB host recommended Larrupin' for a nice dinner. We got lucky and they were able to fit us in without a reservation. Everything was stellar, from the service, to the food and the ambiance. We sat outside and were comfortable with the heaters. The fresh oysters were delicious. My husband got the ribs and brisket with sweet potatoes and I got the filet. I've had filet mignon a number of times at high end restaurants and I think this was my very favorite. Highly recommend if you're looking for a special dinner in Trinidad!

Consistently one of our favorite restaurants for decades now. As a vegetarian I always get the spanikopita and as delicious as it is there is always enough to take home for leftovers. In Summer you can enjoy their patio with heaters sprinkled throughout the garden and some evenings there is even live music. They have a great wine menu with many local options too. Well worth the drive to Trinidad.

I have eaten here at least 5 times. Every time the food has been excellent and the service spot on. It's off the beaten track, but it will be worth the journey (unless you're lucky enough to live in Trinidad 💜)!

Being greeted at the door was a nice experience and our table was magical! Their outdoor space is beautiful and added to our meal. Our waitress was attentive, informative, and friendly. Food came out perfectly and simply the best meal I've ever had. From the charcuterie, roasted garlic appetizer, and the snapper was delicious. The desert was the absolutely perfect way to finish our meal.

This was the best dinner we had on our entire trip! The food is truly incredible. Most of us ordered the snapper special and it was the best fish we’d ever had. The meals also came with an appetizer board which was so cute. We sat outside in the garden, and the atmosphere was so lush and beautiful! There was also lovely live jazz music on the patio. The inside of the restaurant was interestingly decorated, and I wish I could go again and eat inside. Finally, the service was incredible! Our waitress was wonderful to us and really knew her stuff. She made us realize there really are great wait staff out there! If you’re in the area, you MUST try to eat here. It will make your trip!

We have been going to the Larrupin Cafe for our anniversary dinner for the past ten years or so. Tonight we will be going for our 50th anniversary. It is a special place, with great food, great service, great atmosphere.

If you ever find yourself in northern California and within 45 minutes drive or so of this restaurant, I recommend you make the trip if you want a fabulous dining experience that stands out from other options in the area. I suggest making a reservation in advance and requesting a table on the second floor, which is a beautiful dining space. Wonderful!

This is one of those gem restaurants! World fusion as my delightful waiter told me. Delicious ribs & spicy brisket paired with a well done salad & coconut macadamia rice. It all pulled in together with big portions! The presentation, the fine service by the staff and the magical ambiance listening to live chill jazz - perfection! Was lucky to get in this place.

Beautiful evening food was delicious and if we could have heard the musicians without the two dogs at next table in the stroller barking on and off the whole time it would have been amazing. Even though we were in the enclosed outside eating area dogs shouldn’t be allowed.

Dined outside and still had very attentive, friendly service. Ample serving sizes of delicious dishes.

Dinner outside in the garden was delightful. Had carpaccio and one of the dinner specials - snapper & risotto - which was exquisitely prepared. The service was great!

Having traveled around the world to eat at many of the top reviewed eats and dines, Larrupin’ Cafe was a complete disappointment. Larrupin’s is highly over rated not only for the quality of the food but mostly in the price point. The menus made all the dishes sound absolutely creative, but execution was a shortfall. Food portions are outrageously large and overbearing, and lacking in flavor. The only 4+ star about Larrupin’ was the drinks. The high quality selection was great.

The first impression of this restaurant was dirty, old, dirty, oriental carpets everywhere, including oriental runner, carpets on the table, which was totally weird. The food choices were heavy food fare and dated. The entrée is served on a small square plate that also includes your salad. Barely any room on plate to cut up your food. You felt as if you were being rushed out of the restaurant instead. Shocking this place had a 4.8 star review. One of the worst places I have ever eaten.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely anniversary dinner here while on vacation and Jin took great care of us. I had the chicken cordon bleu and it was amazing but nothing tops the side sweet potato, they put a honey maple butter on it and it was like… dessert before dessert! They could’ve brought that out as the complimentary dessert but the chocolate layer cake they brought us was delicious too. Also, my boyfriend got the steelhead fish and the lemon was wearing panties!! So fancy!!!

This is probably the best restaurant in Humboldt County. It is in a beautiful location, and the atmosphere of the place feels very inviting. Food is excellent, I love how a lot of it is locally sourced. One complaint is that the appetizers are too expensive for the amount you get (especially when you split for two). Otherwise the food is delicious! It is perfect for birthdays or anniversaries or other fun nights out!

We had the red snapper special which was quite delicious and the barbecue baby back ribs which were fantastic. This place is an extremely elegant and lively decorated Oasis on the coast adjacent to the redwoods. Aside from the excellent service and food, the decor mixes art and ephemera from Asia, Africa, and pop influences from the 1980s. It shouldn't work but it does. (Although please, someone please dust that gorgeous Chihuly glass chandelier in the stairway!) This is fine dining but you're going to pay for it, with entrees all priced over $40 per plate.

Meal was delicious and the service was outstanding. We had a wonderful birthday dinner.

Friendly and informative staff in eclectic surrounds. Accommodated us when we didn’t have a booking. Food portions are generous and delicious. Steak was exactly as ordered (medium rare) and locally sourced ingredients is a wonderful touch.

I have reviewed hundreds of culinary experiences. Larrupin Cafe is one of those few places that deserves 5 stars. I have been eating there for over 20 years. They are consistent, fresh and wonderfully eclectic. Especially small and intimate. But still has a comfortable feel when in a large group. Whether date night, special event or just dinner out. It is always the perfect spot.

Overall it was a nice experience. Service was excellent, although I'd say bar and grill feel, not fine dining. Only a few vegetarian options. The food was good, but a bit all over the place. The portobello mushroom dish came with cold salad on the same plate overloaded with hot veggies. It was a soggy mess. The cheese board was very basic. Dessert was good. Not really a fan of the decor and carpet on the tables. Would be good if there was a consistent theme all round.

This was such a memorable dinner for my husband and I! We had the filet mignon with the gargonzola sauce and mushrooms. Best I have ever tasted! The service was absolutely amazing! Our server was very friendly, attentive, but didn't bother us a lot. The atmosphere is so unique! So much to look at and conversation pieces! We will definitely be back when we visit the area and will long for their food until then!

Exceptional service! Gin was our waiter and above and beyond. My filet dressed was perfection. Hubbys mesquite grilled steelhead was stellar. Such a wonderful birthday dinner for me.

Yum. We started with the mushroom appetizer and the roasted garlic. Both were served with an inviting presentation. The roasted garlic was more notable, tender, rich, and fun to eat. The mushroom dish was tasty... and something came with a particularly yummy dipping sauce... but I can't remember what it was, lol. The appetizers were followed by the charcuterie board, which was a real treat...a highlight. They made the board gluten-free for me, giving it an extra touch of special. It felt a little like Christmas morning, tasting across the board with curiosity and delight at each unique flavor. There were dried figs, two soft cheeses, a pate, sliced apples, dressed cucumbers, and more... and I am not doing it justice with my description. It really was delightful. I ordered the lamb chops for my entree. Be prepared for orafactory heaven. They melt into the most delectable savory sweetness in your mouth. Hubbie had the brisket and rib combo. Both were tender and flavorful. We ended with dessert. Mine was the creme Carmel, which could only have been better if they had lit it at the table. It was creamy, with the light crispy cap, sweet enough to savor every bite but not so sweet that I couldn't finish it. The only con of our dinner was our server, who seemed rushed, practically running away as he finished speaking. More than once, I wasn't able to speak or ask him a question because he ran off. The atmosphere was cozy with wood and warm colors. That said, it was a bit chilly...I never took my coat off. A plus about our servers' lack of attention was that we didn't have a sense of being rushed. We took our time with our meal and were able to relax and enjoy our experience at our pace.

A lively restaurant tucked away in Trinidad. Offering a comfortable approach to dining. I've only been there twice for celebrations throughout the years, but based on those two experiences, I can confidently say that the meals are delicious.

A little pricey, but very nice.

Larrupin is where you go when you really want a good quality meal with a great atmosphere and quality service. If you want to spoil a loved one or have a small celebration gathering this is one of the best spots in Humboldt county. It is located just outside of the lovely seaside village of Trinidad and close to patricks point state park (which has a amazing sunset view over the pacific ocean). Enjoy the oysters, the wines the local organic cuisine and the rustic ambiance and leave thinking....wow that would have cost way more in the city. 😊 Thanks to the ownership, the cooks and waitstaff for keeping it classy all these years.❤ Update 1/11/24 Still one of the best places to eat in Humboldt Larrupin never disappoints. From beginning to end, everything was delicious and top quality. My date had the lamb chops while I enjoyed a prime rib steak with braised mushrooms and gorgonzola cream sauce cooked to perfection. Creme Brulee and German chocolate cake for desert and a pinot from Sonoma made this meal utterly satisfying. They have a room for birthday partys and private functions too now, which is a good idea so that quieter dinners can have a more subdued experience. In the summer when the outside patio is open, there is live jazz music 🎷 🎺 🎶 Top shelf service here worth every cent!

Really great food and a warm and cozy atmosphere. Excellent wine selection with so many varieties to choose from. Great service in general I highly recommend this place and I have been coming here for years.

Food and service was top notch. Had the blacken steelhead witch was a special. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and happy to guide us through our meal

All was very good, but as some past comments I noted made the point of cost to value. My meal was the spicy Brisket and Ribs dish. While it was tasty, I can’t say the price justified the flavor. I did enjoy the flavor of the BBQ sauce. The twice-baked potato was tasty too. I really do enjoy the atmosphere of Larrupin. The location and this place on a rainy evening made it awesome too. I still recommend Larrupin.

The decor was elegant and worldly. Our waitress Tamera was exceptional and knew the menu inside out. I would suggest turning up the lights a notch. Our dinners were prepared by an experienced chef. A nice presentation and an array of flavors to seduce the pallette. A great date atmosphere or a gem location to treat your significant other.

If you're in the neighborhood and up for a special meal, make a point to stop at Larrupin'. We celebrated an early Thanksgiving here (Weds), and the meal was incredible. New York strip, lamb chops, and steelhead fish of the day were prepared to perfection. Only regret is not having time to sample more of the menu. Thanks for the memories!

I love larrupins. I think it's one of my all time favorite restaurants in Humboldt and has been for almost 30 years.

Finest dining in all of Humboldt County by far. Elegant, sophisticated and consistently delicious! Once went with a large party of 15+ and still every plate was served timely and correctly. Wish it was closer to me.

Excellent meal and staff, beautiful place. Music both times we were there.. not my fav.. they were high , smelled like pot which was disruptive to the experience and tasting the meal and the music was laughable at times.. they were so high trying to play slow jazz that sounded like a sick donkey!

This is the absolute best place I've ever been. I'm not super rich or classy but we've been to some nice places in Las Vegas or San Francisco etc. This place puts everywhere else to shame. The food quality, the service, the atmosphere, everything was just so wonderful. I cannot wait to go back again.

This place is beautiful and has excellent service. However for the price of things I feel ripped off because the lamb chops were boring and over done and the brisket was dry. I will come back because I really want to try the filet and chicken phyllo. Hopefully then I can change my vote to 5 stars. The Zinfandel was delightful.

Local greens and cheese, generous portions. All was perfectly prepared. Our server took the time to help with choices and was knowledgeable about ingredients.

Hands down my favorite restaurant to eat at in Humboldt County. I’d recommend the Lamb, although the brisket and pork ribs are also amazing. A must visit when in Humboldt County.

This is Humboldt at it's finest, beautiful, casual, comfortable and delicious. The staff is friendly, informed and professional. The attention to detail and taste are exceptional. I journey to Larupin Cafe every few years and treasure the experience.

Beautiful decor and nice outdoor dining. A live band on Monday night was a real treat.

The only issue with this place is that I cannot give it 6 stars! Simply amazing from the time you are greeted by the hostess till when you get back in your car to leave. Chefs and wait staff are top tier and masters of their craft. We had the NY strip and Half & Half dinners and they were exquisite. Food was insanely fresh and cooked to perfection. Hands down the number 1 spot for dinner in the area ✌️

Appetizer board was lovely- the pate was excellent. Grilled oysters were very flavorful. Ribs were fantastic- fall off the bone. Brisket- would not recommend, very thin and tough. Dressed filet was also fantastic. Sweet potato was great and the salad was wonderful, the twice baked potato was ok. Crème brûlée was wonderful. Server was awkward- seemed uncomfortable talking to us. Absolutely would go again for the food.

Amazing experience just off the 101 near Trinidad, CA. This is no Cafe! It's a full service, upscale restaurant. Romantic indoor seating coupled with unique and varied outdoor dining areas. We enjoyed every moment with our waiter Zac as he served us the Larrupin appetizer board, our choice of entrees (Half & Half and Chicken Wrapped In Phyllo Dough) and drinks, as well as the fine selection of desserts. Highly recommended for anyone traveling in the area!

Great food and cool funky jazz band, Dog Bone. Ate outside and on a Wednesday it was very busy. Reservations are a good idea. Bring a fat wallet.

Gourmet meal with life size portions. Was hoping for ocean vista but were seated in a back corner. Turns out there is no ocean view. Appetizer board and red snapper dish were the best!

We ate here twice in one week while escaping Sacramento's summer heat, and it was delightful. The first time was for my husband's birthday, the second was right before we returned to Sacramento, because it was so good the first time. Good selection of drinks, delicious palette of flavors, and relaxing environment on the patio and in the garden. My only other feedback is it would have been nice if there were more local seafood, but the veggies and the steak both fit the bill. Entrees are ~$50, and reservations are probably a good idea, although they were able to fit us in as walk-ins both at the beginning and end of their dinner hours. So far, this has been our best dining experience in the Eureka / Lost Coast region, and it's worth trying if you're nearby!

I ordered the brisket and ribs combo barbecue. Being from Texas we have a definite opinion what makes good bbq. Their bbq with dry, tough, under cooked and drenched is sweet bad sauce. It was not bbq. To be proper bbq, you need to cook the meat for a long time to make it fall off the bone and stay moist. You never drench the meat with overpowering sweet sauce. Tough, chewy and sweet.

If ever in humboldt one of many places to stop for a wonderful dinner. Very attentive host and waiteres food was delicious was well as dessert. Local wine options avaliable.

One of the best meals we have ever enjoyed in California. The food was manna from heaven, every bite delicious, every dish perfectly prepared and the libations tasted as of the nectar of the gods! The service was impeccable, prompt and attentive. And eating in the beautiful garden became almost a religious experience. And all for a relatively reasonable price. Definitely, Ten Stars!!!

Excellent ambiance. Staff and their service is above and beyond amazing. And the food is delicious. The best of everything, truly. I highly recommend the brisket, the dressed filet, and their coeur a la creme dessert. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the wine list is complete with amazing picks. We are so thankful for Larrupin being the place for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and more!

This place was amazing. We have eaten in many 5 star resteraunts (local and well none) this one is in the top 5. Service was outstanding and good was when better. We had 2 appetizers and the cheese plate. Dinner was the filet and fish (red snapper). Atmosphere was so cute!

One of the finest dining experiences ever! They kindly seated us without reservations. Beautiful patio dining outdoors. Complimentary charcuterie board with amazing delicacies on it. Carpaccio was exquisite. Smoked meats for me, and my wife had mesquite grilled snapper. They were both amazing. Our server, Shelly, was so wonderful and added to the amazing experience. GO TO THIS PLACE!!!

I've always heard about this restaurant but never been near enough to try it. Finally was in the neighborhood just at early dinner time and we popped in w/o a reservation. The staff was able to seat us for a fine dining experience. I call this a $50 a plate affair with good beer & wine selections. The service is friendly and professional. The food was well prepared and tasty. The decor warm & comfortable. This place has been in business for a few decades so they're doing something right. I would eat here again for fine dining.

Wow what a tasty meal! It appears to be a converted house and gives friendly, cozy vibes. The Chihuly sculpture gives it an upscale feel but it is not stuffy. The service was friendly and quick. We got a kick out of the fish shaped water jug that makes a gulping noise. The appetizer plate was delicious. The sauce really did go with everything. The filet was tender and juicy with just enough char to be interesting.

New experience: Restaurant is surrounded by greel lush sequoia trees and lots of other greenery. The decor is a bit overwhelming. The intended feel was that of an elegant high-end decor, but certain items take away the intended design. The service was supreme! The waitress was attentive and knew the menue and day specials to the core. She was familiar with the wines and desserts. The food was tasty, I ordered fish, a house salad as a side dish. 42.00 for fish and salad... Would I eat here again, maybe not.

As always, the food was spectacular. Would have given 5 stars if we were not rushed out of the restaurant because someone was "waiting" for our table. Of course, this was after we closed out the check. Kinda ruined a pleasant dinner with friends we had not seen for many years. You should be better Larrupin.

How does Larrupin have 4.8 stars...?? The food was extremely mediocre, even for a normally priced restaurant. The meal called the "half and half" was super dry, way tougher than it should be, and overall not good. Menu options - .... mehhh Cheese board appetizer - not great. Salad and veggies - fine. Desserts - actually good, which was a relief. Service - good. Ambiance - interesting and different The only reason I can see that this place has 4.8 stars is that its been around a while, maybe used to be excellent, but now coasts along just fine fully booked all the time based on old reviews and visitors who need somewhere to go in a town with few options for a fancy occasion. Conclusion: There are better options in Humboldt for your nice occasion / dining needs than Larrupin.

Best dining in the Trinidad area. Great atmosphere, amazing food and service, and the jazz on the patio in the summer is just the best. I’m a local and whenever friends and family come to visit, this is where we take them.

My husband and I hadn’t been to Larrupin’ since Covid. We returned last night for our anniversary and it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT !! Our server SHELLEY (she is the bomb) was crazy in that she could recite all of the specials. Everything was timed perfectly, we had wine and a very relaxing meal. Best special ever was the Crab Cake appetizer, and OMG can the chef cook fish !! Mesquite grilled red snapper on a bed of mushroom and asiago risotto. A perfect soy glaze on the fish paired with side salad, asparagus….and I HAD to get a sweet potato. Looking forward to our next visit. Again, THANK YOU SHELLEY for taking great care of us ❤️
