Walking into Lufu, I was really irritated that my friends picked downtown for our happy hour outing. I circled a few times for parking and finally found a spot. Getting out of the car, I was PRAYING this restaurant would be worth navigating traffic and limited parking. Yall... It was TOTALLY worth it. The atmosphere alone changed my mood. As soon as I walked in, I looked around and thought "oh.. Okaaaay... This is niiiice" and took a seat at the table with my friends. I enjoyed the color palette, luxe-casual, decor and the beautiful mural on the wall. We tried all the apps except for the squid and they were all phenomenal. My personal favorites were the chicken and shrimp apps. I also had a Desi Girl (something) to drink and it was delicious, refreshing and.. Effective.. Haha. We all enjoyed the quality of our cocktails. Whoever is running the bar is doing a fantastic job. I had the goat dish for my main and it was delicious! My friend and I had enough to split and take leftovers. The staff were also kind and attentive. We really enjoyed their service and patience dealing with a boisterous bunch haha. This experience changed my entire mood as soon as I walked in. I went from irritated to elated. If you're considering going to Lufu but are a CBD-avoider with parking anxiety like myself, trust me... It's worth the hassle. Thank you also to the staff at the restaurant for creating such a memorable experience for me and my friends!!

Was working a gig in New Orleans for the week, ate here twice! Was beyond amazing both times. Food was incredible, that unique flavor palette akin to Indian cuisine, that just makes eating that much more exciting, while also alluring you to that next bite, until your body is begging you to stop, but it tastes too dang good 😂. Drinks were incredible and complimentary with the flavors of the dishes as well(personal favorite was the Curry Colada), service was fast, friendly, and helpful(explaining menu items that a less cultured person like myself couldn’t google fast enough 😂.) Felt like I was welcomed in as part of the family, for real. Definitely visiting again next time I’m in town, highly recommend! Good job crew!

What an experience! I don’t know where to start. The drinks, the food or the deserts. We were a group of 8 and tried almost everything in their menu two days in a row. Their Parda Biryani with chicken is utterly flavorful and angara chicken is the tenderest chicken I ever had. Naan is smooth and a perfect combo with their chicken tikka masala🤤 Their starters are out of this world, we had pani puri, dahi puri, peri peri crispy cauliflower, koli wada shrimp, Tawa paneer, pineapple and lamb chops. I must mention the Khayali pulav, a veg flavor bomb to devour. One must try their Macher paturi if they love sea food, a unique fish recipe slow cooked in authentic flavors and steamed in banana leaf. Big shout out to Bombay sandwich and Vada Paav, their Chef had mastered the recipe. The drinks are unique recipes of their own, freshness and flavor in every sip. Our hosts Aman and Amit treated us with utter care and made sure we are pleased. Their hospitality is unmatched❤️ last but not the least, we tried their Chaimisu, a unique twist to the typical tiramisu. Gulab Jamun with ice cream is a classic. we savored every bite of it. We had the honor to meet the Chefs Shan and Sachin and thank them for treating our palates! Kudos to LUFU team for the best fine dine experience in town ❤️

Lovely gem in a city crowded with mediocre restaurants. An upscale and gourmet take on classic Indian cuisine with South Indian options as well, which is a rare find. I sat at the bar and watched the bartender meticulously and lovingly craft gorgeous cocktails as the kitchen staff worked seamlessly together in a kitchen that was both meticulously clean and beautifully organized. The spice and salt balance in my dosa and all the accompaniments which came with was in perfect harmony and the staff was very welcoming and hospitable.

Restaurant requires parties of 2 or leas to sit at the bar. I decided on takeout because I don’t drink and don’t want a meal at the bar. Two other couples came in, and decided to eat elsewhere for the same reason. The goat dish, Mandi Kosha, was a great disappointment. 95% of it was inedible — all fat and bone. Only one ounce of meat was left after separating it from the bone and fat. For the price, there should be far better cuts of goat meat. The flavor of the stew was fine; the edible meat level was hugely inadequate.

We very much enjoyed this restaurant tonight! The flavors! We had the pani poori and kunthal fry for starters. The pani poori is a delicate crunch and refreshing explosion in your mouth. We also ordered the tandoori lamb burra. The lamb chops were succulent and the mint chutney was the perfect accompaniment. The Manso Kosha (goat) was fall apart tender and the sauce was a nice ratio of sweet with a spicy kick. Don't forget to get the Naan to finish off that sauce. We also ordered the chicken biryani that was flavorful and the chicken was tender. For drinks we tried the spicy Rita with tamarind and a gin cocktail with peach, both very tasty. I am so thankful for our server (I wish I remembered his name). He was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations on what to order and tips of how to eat the different food with their chutnies. I love the ambiance of the restaurant and it was a great birthday meal. We also got sat next to the window where we could view the kitchen, and I thought that was kinda cool. Average at the most. Was excited to come here on my trip to NOLA after reading the amazing reviews. But have to say it was average. The concept, the theme, menu, decor was well thought through. Started off with the cocktails which I will say were creative and decent- the old fashioned and French 75. Ordered the chili chicken which was bland and missing salt. Infact all the dishes were missing salt including the dal makhni and angara chicken. The garlic naan and raita were probably the two things I enjoyed. Ordered the masala chai to end the meal which was a mistake. How can a basic chai be messed up? Super milky, missing tea and flavor. Im sure this place was geared towards a non spicy palate but basic flavor should still be on par.

As we went inside, we were greeted very politely and led to our table promptly. Right away, our server, Amit, brought us water and the menu fairly quickly. As it was our first time trying Indian cuisine, he was very helpful with his recommendations. Amit also showed us how to eat Pani Poori which we very much appreciated! A lot of the times, especially during peak hours, servers would usually just leave us with the food and that's about it. Amit was definitely not one of them! I had the tandoori lamb burra. The lamb was a bit tough but the seasoning on it was divine especially when dipped on the mint chutney. My boyfriend had the goat dish (forgot what the name was!) It was so good we had to bring home what little was left of the sauce so we could top it over our rice at home lol Personally, I'm not a big fan of goat meat but I was pleasantly surprised that the meat was not at all gamey. We also shared the garlic naan. I think it was pretty standard naan. The gamechanger is wiping the leftover sauce with the naan bread! They had a pretty interesting drinks menu. We just had the mocktails, mango magic and curry colada. We don't know what we expected of the curry colada, I didn't get the curry taste at all. But it was still a good piña colada nonetheless. The overall ambiance was very casual. Definitely perfect for catching up with friends. I would've preferred the place to be a little more brighter. But it's not a big deal when the food and service is absolutely topnotch!

Friendly warm atmosphere. Angara chicken sauce was very yummy and the chicken was succulent. Garlic naan was nice and garlicky but for me the bread was slightly over cooked and too thin - not enough substance or tender spungyness to it. Chicken birihani was delicately spiced but there was hardly any chicken on the bones, and it was very over priced for $30.00 Lamp chops were over cooked, small in size and not very flavourful. Plus, over priced for the serving size - $30.00 I know Lamb is expensive but nevertheless. Mango Lassi was delightful as were the chicken momos. With tip, $155.00 for three peeps. A lot of moola!! And, no alcohol. Actually, as tends to be the norm, the curry is better the next day. I'm chowing down on some now.

When my boyfriend and I both took our first bite, we both looked at each other and start laughing. That’s how good the food here is 🥹

We were urged by our friends from Austin to definitely make this a must go place. Loved the service provided by our server Amit. He was very attentive to us and kept checking on us throughout the meal. Loved every dish - specially the pineapple appetizer was finger licking delicious. The whole experience was beautiful and I would surely visit LUFU NOLA on my future trips.

While Lufu had great service and atmosphere, flavors were bland compared to the many Indian restaurants I have visited in New York, Chicago, Houston, and Toronto. Prices were also very high, $30 for chicken biryani for example, so we expected robust flavor. The place was packed while food presentation was excellent so hopefully they will improve in the future.

This place is hands down one of the best places for Indian food. Authentic taste, good service, good ambience. Love the pani poori shots, Chaat, Naans and everything we ate. The chole bathura was killer

This place was amazing I highly recommend it. The right amount of spice not overly hot. I hate spiced foods but this is one you want to try out.
