My husband and I absolutely LOVE coming to Mackey's munchies! The Mackey's make us feel welcome and so loved every time we visit! If we had more money we'd be coming a lot more often! I absolutely love the fish poboy too, and the beignets 💖 I pray they stay here for a long time to come so as our daughter grows older she can try more of their food. We came for our anniversary earlier this month and we felt so loved and felt like we were with family. Thank y'all so much for being here! We can't wait to come back!!!

Maaaan, talk about GOOD. At least 20 shrimp in my po boy. Beniets were on point and the owner was super friendly. We will definitely be back.

Enjoyed the chicken and sausage gumbo. It wasn’t as thick as I’m used too but flavorful nonetheless, I had the beignets and they were ok. Super friendly and welcoming. Loved the eclectic set up of the restaurant. Very calming atmosphere.

Half of what we ordered was the wrong food. Everything we got was past cold. Tasted like we just got what was left on a steam table.

Our first time here. The food was delicious and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner. As good as the food was, what really impressed me was the owner! From the "free books" corner to training our young people, my impression was of a man making a difference in people's lives. I applaud both him and the amazing food.

Went for a late afternoon lunch. Was recommended to have the"special" checker sandwich. It was a good sandwich, a tad expensive for just a sandwich ,no fries or any other side @$14.

The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Be patient because they make it “cook to order”. The owner came out to talk to us, excellent customer service. He was very attentive.

Fantastic food! We visited today and enjoyed the fried shrimp po boy and the special beef “debris” - everything was absolutely delicious. The cherry on top is the wonderful customer service. The owners came over to chat with us, and shared about their love of authentic Cajun cuisine. They were both so friendly and welcoming! We look forward to returning and trying their other dishes.

The roast beef poboy was made juuuust right. Very sloppy and I love it like that. I recommend forks, or licking your fingers. The gumbo, could have been better but wasn't terrible. I'll definitely be back to try more on the menu but I have no regrets overall. Very nice staff

We ordered the fried okra and it was absolutely perfectly done. Not overly breaded and not “oily” it was seasoned just right as well. I ordered the gumbo with their #4 spice rating. They have spice ratings from no spice to 1-4 and for me, who loves spice, it was perfection. The taste of the gumbo just explodes in your mouth and they did not skimp on the meat either-plenty of shrimp, sausage and chicken. My wife ordered one of the Etouffee and it was also perfectly done. Complex flavors that all mix just right in your mouth. All the food is freshly prepared as you order and you can tell from the first bit. This place is truly worth the drive even if you don’t live close by. The Beignets are also fantastic!

Great food and the owner made me feel like family! I’ve been wanting to try this place out for awhile and first timers get to ring a bell which is a fun touch! I got the shrimp poboy fully dressed and a side of red beans and rice. As you can see, I was a satisfied customer 😂 The only thing I would do differently is get a little spice in the red beans and rice but I will know for next time. Will definitely be returning 😊

First time here and will be back for sure. Food was so flavorful and hit the spot. Sweet tea was perfect and not overly sweet. We got beignets too and they were so good! Felt welcomed and taken care of.

Phenomenal! I had the crawfish Étouffée and fried green tomatoes. I could have left completely satisfied after the fried green tomatoes. They didn’t stand a chance against me. I like spice but not too much and the étouffée had just the right about. You’re able to fire it up if you want to. Customer service was amazing. Both owners came to speak to us for feedback. We will definitely be back!!

We were impressed. The fried green tomatoes were the best we ever had. The dipping sauce was delicious. The owners were so friendly and fun. My hubby's poor boy was a nice size. The etoufee and jambalaya were some of the best I ever had. The beignets were perfect with lots of confectioners sugar. Totally recommend! Festive atmosphere too.

My husband and I ate at Mackey's for the first time today. It was incredible! We ordered the fried green tomatoes, jumbo gumbo, shrimp po' boy and the beignets. The tomatoes were crispy and delicious with an amazing dipping sauce. The po' boy was the best I've ever had, perfectly seasoned shrimp, on freshly made straight bustin' bread. It was on point! The jumbo gumbo was straight fire! 3 different meats, rice & okra, simply amazing. Lastly the beignets, sooo damn good. Don't sleep on those beignets! We will definitely be returning, I need to try the award winning fried okra!

So I enjoy spicy food the moment I walked in and asked about the po boy shrimp sammich the lady taking my order asked how much of a spice level I wanted I explained I like spicy she stated you can't handle the heat so get this lvl of spice I stated you don't know me. Now I got a bad vibe from her that she was stereotyping me due to my skin color yes I am going there the first time ever I was stereotyped by a restaurant I told her bring the heat so at the end of my meal she walks over and states see honey I told tou it was too spicy for you without even asking me if I enjoyed the meal. I am a ginger so yes some spice will make my skin turn a lil pink but it was no where near the spice lvl I cant handle. I said whatever mam and walked out. Now The food was descent nothing to write home about and was expensive but I would come back but the lady killed the vibe for me. I can tell she has a thing for my type I didn't enjoy my time there and I have eaten at many establishments around the city she has lost a customer

Great atmosphere, great food, great service

Delicious! I stopped in for some okra and beignets... both amazing! Couldn't stop thinking about it so had to come back a couple of days later to try the fish sandwich and mack and cheese. Great food and great service. Mrs. Mackey makes you feel like family. She has never met a stranger and is so wonderful.

shrimp po boy was delicious!! their Beignets was bomb! My bf got the fish and chicken and it was well seasoned and delicious. the gumbo was good and they offer different spice levels. i went with a level 3 called ignite definitely an understatement! Would definitely recommend for all spice lovers out there!

Hands down best place to eat at in Jacksonville‼️Food was seasoned perfect, had lots of flavor. Honestly good hospitality made me feel like they were family. We had Mac and cheese, gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp po boy, bread pudding, and beignets. Can’t wait to go back again❤️

Mackey's Munchies has the best Cajun Food that I have found in the Jacksonville area! Service is fantastic! The red beans and rice are on point. My wife had a crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken and the bread were absolutely delicious! We will be going back to try more delicious items on their menu. The staff is super friendly and gave us free beignets for my birthday! This is a veteran owned, family business! Support local businesses and get some great food at Mackey's Munchies!

God I wish I had taken a picture, but the food and vibes were so amazing we got right to eatin! The Mackeys are so funny, humble, genuine folks, they say hello and have conversation with EVERY customer that comes in. We had such a good time interacting with them and other customers! We even created our own poboy that theyve decided to coin “ The Big ‘Sip” in honor of a poboy you can find in Ocean Springs MS where my family is from. Its the beef debris with gravy and fried shrimp ontop, INCREDIBLE! The gumbo was good, collard greens were amazing, and the beignets, omg! My mom and her husband enjoyed their sweet and unsweet tea too. We will be coming back!

I usually take, but have on rare occasions eaten in. The food is always delicious! Try the shrimp poboy, fried okra and fried green tomatoes. I also love the gumbo. Just know that most foods are cooked when ordered so there may be a wait. You can always call ahead.

Incredible people own this place everybody is so nice and genuine. This is the best Louisiana food you can get in the country it’s better than this stuff I’ve had in Louisiana. You can get some serious spice here too if you want. They let you choose your spice level so you can get not spicy at all or extremely spicy made with fresh concoction of homemade spices and peppers.

Both owners sang Happy Birthday to my son, put a large Mardi Gras necklace over his head, and set a complimentary dessert before him!

We don't get a chance to come around often but it is such a treat when we do. Still the best shrimp poboy I've ever had.

Delicious food! I bought the shrimp po boy and Mac and cheese. The sandwich was huge and perfectly cooked shrimp. Sauce is very yummy. The Mac and cheese tasted homemade. Really good food!

We got the trio etouffee, level 2 fried chicken sandwich and fries. It was phenomenal. I loved the little book section, the history, and the beautiful artwork and pictures throughout the restaurant. All the staff was kind and courteous. Full of smiles and good cheer. You wouldn't be able to leave there in a bad mood. They are definitely worth the price and the wait!!!!

The food is absolutely delicious! The owners are welcoming, warm and simply down to earth. While sitting waiting patiently for my orders, I had a chance to take in the New Orleans expressions throughout. I do plan to invite friends to join me for lunch or dinner at this restaurant and encourage others to simply try an amazing taste of New Orleans cuisine. The Po Boy fish platter was delicious, and the beignets were scrumptious. I will make this a regular spot for dining out. 🥰🦋🤗

Update 11 14 2023 Went today and ordered the Ettoufe a long with the same items from previous review and Oh my this is so good too!! Wonderful New Orleans cuisine! Super staff and service. Going back to try some of their other items. Ordered Jambalaya and Gumbo both very good!

Authentic cajun food. The shrimp ettoffe is amazing. The shrimp po boy is delicious with Mackeys sauce. Try the beinget hot with powder sugar for dessert you won't be disappointed 😋

My wife and I just ate here. I absolutely love it. This is as close as you're going to get to NOLA food without being in NOLA. The crawfish Poboy is so good with the Mack Sauce and some extra spice. My wife and I had to fight over The crawfish etouffée. Savory and deep flavor. The beignets were better than Cafe du Monde or really anywhere else I've had them from. We will be back and we will bring our friends

I ordered the gumbo w no okra & extra shrimp. I also got the highest level of spice I think it was level 4. They warned us about it & was like “oh now you know it’s really hot” not knowing I’m true to disssss lol. It was 1 of the BEST gumbo I’ve had. & I’ve been to New Orleans 2x !! The spice was PERFECT & they actually added hella extra shrimp too ! I will be back without a doubt 100% !

I ordered the mix and match basket with chicken and shrimp. I ordered French fries for my side. I usually get the red beans and rice. I was not disappointed! Their chicken is just as awesome as the fish! This is a ma and pa restaurant and the owners are the nicest people! They are from New Orleans! You will get authentic food from that city, right here in Clay County! The dine in experience is awesome as well! You are treated like family there!

What a hidden gem this place is! Tucked in a little corner cove of the shopping center, if you like Cajun food, this place is great!
