Ordered take-out. The containers looked small, but I was surprised how much was in the portion fitted which ended up being 3 meals for me!

Individuals with trypophobia must beware: the spongy injera served as the perfect vessel to scoop up all the delicious flavours of the vegan platter and the doro tibs. Never had Ethiopian food but this was a great foray into it taste-wise.

Good Ethiopian vegetarian sampler. Giant injera

Vegan cuisine (non-religious) Ethiopian cuisine, very interesting to try. The menu has a large QR code on the transparent partition at the cashier counter, and you can see the picture by scanning it. If you have no clue, just choose the most popular area. In addition, they also have traditional staple dishes, which look like burritos but taste like cakes, and they also have rice options. The service is very homely and friendly, it looks like a three-generation family restaurant. The taste can also be adjusted, such as adding spiciness or if you don’t want onions. There are many street residents in this neighborhood, so the lights are a little dim at night. In addition, the sign at the entrance is not very obvious. Although it is a store with large floor-to-ceiling glass, it is easy to miss it at night, so open your Google Navigation. Oh, I forgot to mention: very delicious! Recommend you to give it a try! Paid parking is available on the street.

Very authentic and delicious! A local business run by the nicest mother and daughter. Please give this spot a try for lunch or dinner, highly recommend.

I went here with the intention of taking pictures and writing a review, but it was so good that I ate it all and forgot to take pictures. I did this not once, but twice. Look at other people's photos instead, this place is great.

If you haven't had Ethiopian before, do yourself a favour and drop by this little restaurant. Has a little cafe-esq vibe, do note if it gets busy there may be a bit of a wait while they prep and cook everything to order. Don't forget to get some extra injera (Ethiopian fermented teff flatbread), it's soft and fluffy and has a bit of an acidic tang to it! Not to mention is goes well with all the curries and dishes! If you are unsure and have extra folks to share, get the the combo platter. Don't forget to eat it properly with your hands! The staff here are most lovely, and you can tell they put a lot of heart into the food they make!

They've got a cheapish item on the menu that's basically inerja bread rolled up with lentils inside. I ordered it thinking it would be a snack, but it was filling enough to eat for dinner. And the baklava is fantastic.

What a home-cook food! Vege sampler is the most authentic ethiopian food you can taste here. The sauce is nice and thick, so comforting! Collard green has nice sour flavor to it! The complexity harmony of multi-layer spices, the contrast of tastes when paired with authentic injera make the foods even more perfect.

Got take out from here and really enjoyed it! They have gluten free teff injera as an option and we enjoyed all of the vegan options

Yeahhhh this was a good one. I enjoy Ethiopian restaurants and its always the vegetarian sampler platter I order. Yum. At first I was concerned because I thought there was a piece of feta cheese in it. I made sure it was all vegan and the Head Chef said it was only tofu, or soybeans technically speaking. So yep it was 100% vegan and that matters for some people. I'll be back again for another experience. Thank you Moya!!!

Yum!!! The service was really great and the place was chill. But the food... O M G!!! We seriously bought lunch on our way to a show and loved it so much that we asked if we could buy the same exact thing and pick it up on our way home. They totally accommodated us and I can't wait to have it for dinner too! 😋

I would say just totally fine Ethiopian, nothing too special. They don't ruin anything but dont master anything either. Everything tasted ok with no standouts. Wouldn't return but wouldn't say don't try it if you're craving Ethiopian.

Hands down, the best injera I've ever had. Incredibly friendly staff at this family owned restaurant, and delicious filling Ethiopian! We got the veggie sampler and added one order of beef, which was the perfect amount for 3. Service was fast too, so we had plenty of time to get to our show at the Orpheum. Will come again!

When I don't have time to cook I walk 2 blocks and pick up the best take out in SOMA. I either get the Veggie Sampler or the Doro Tibs, There is always enough food to feed the two of us.

Amazing shiro- nothing else in the city compares! Generous portion and great flavors. I’m a creature of habit and have yet to branch out and order other dishes, but I’m optimistic based on my consistently great experience with this dish.

Amazing Ethiopian food! If you haven’t tried this cuisine, this is a perfect place to try it out. The vegetarian sampler is incredible. The owner brought us some chickpea sauce to try with it which was amazing. Highly recommend.

Came here on a Monday afternoon and the whole place was empty at 1 pm! Food: I got the shiro and it was quite a large plate and I definitely underestimated it at first. I loved the variety in flavors on the place from the injera to the chickpea soup to the salad it was a medley of textures. It tasted super fresh too and we got a lot of extra bread too! Service: Super quick 10 minutes or so for food to come out and the food was super warm. You order food at the front and they call it out. Ambiance: Very homey place with nice decorations and a tv that played repeating loops of people dancing and of nature. Felt like a good place to get work done. Overall, enjoyed the food and experience and really cozy vibes.

Food was super good! I specifically wanted Ethiopian food and found this one in the area. We had so much leftover food that we had to take a bunch back with us, which was great for later meals! Be ready to use a lot of napkins if you're not used to eating with your hands. Would come back again.

Dorowat was great. The sauce was spicy and delicious. But somehow the chicken was a bit bland. All in all, solid. Will come back to try the rest of the menu!

Very nice food, mostly the standards one expects at an Ethiopian restaurant in the U.S. but that’s OK because the standards are quite varied. You order at the counter and when the food is ready they bring it to your table. A very good option in a slightly off the beaten path area, just down the street from SOMA Park Inn (which is where I was staying).

I walked by on my way to an appointment and the delicious scent of spices made me stop and find the source. It was this cute little cafe. I made a point to return for an amazing, super filling lunch. They made it to my spice level and it was perfect. Try it! You'll be back.

Very decent food here! This is a cozy place and has the feel of a cafe more so than a traditional Ethiopian restaurant. Still, the service is speedy, although it is not true full service. Family style is a great way to get food here, although be aware that if you make any of the meat options spicy, they can get quite spicy! As an added bonus: we were seeing a show after dinner, so we needed to hurry. I called ahead to have the food prepared before we arrived, and the timing was impeccable. Such service!

After a long search for a good Ethiopian place in the bay, we finally found Moya. This place is authentic, delicious, and with great service. The food is so good, we always get a take away for the week besides what we have at the restaurant.

Good spicy food the sour dough bread was unique

Great Ethiopian place in the tenderlion area. Quite a lot of veggie options and the food is very flavorful and delicious. Try the tofu tibs or the red lentil stew they are my personal favorite. It's a small place and staff is limited so it might take some time to get your food but it's worth it. Also another plus is it's proximity to Civic center BART station.

The lady that owns this place is awesome. Stayed late for us when we came in after a graduation. Tasty food, highly recommend.
