We went there a year ago and found it very good. Today none of the food was good. In fact, very poor quality, watery beans, too spicy appetizer nacho soggy chips. The appetizer chips were kinda icky tasting. We won’t be back.

Amazing food and service! Our favorite dinner spot and we hope to get Paulina as our server every time we go! Paulina makes our time there so nice and her attention towards us is exceptional. Very fun and attentive server. Food is delicious! Please try the shrimp wrapped in bacon! We can’t get enough of them.

The food was divided and served 15 minutes apart, unacceptable. It was like 90 degrees inside the restaurant. Not a good experience at all. But the guacamole server The best KUDOS 👏 he was #1.

Went there for daughter's graduation had about 20 people they acomedated us real fast staff was awesome came out with a sombrero food and drinks were also awesome oh yeah and the guacamole they make in front of you and ask how hot you want it the best we try to go at least once a week

Burrito had a good amount of steak, but it was very salty and didn't have much beans and rice.

Food is always amazing! The quesa birra tacos are to die for here. By far the best in Lakeland to me and I have tried numerous places with the birria tacos and they are by far the best!

We try to go once a week and bring friends with us. The Bartender Juan Moreno is an amazing young man. He not only works the bar but also helps the other servers when needed. He has a very pleasant manner and is a great representative for your company.

We go for Taco tuesday many times. Great food and great service. Our server Juan Moreno is especially attentive and makes great drinks. We will continue to tell others about this great restaurant!

Excellent food and atmosphere. I love the Birthday song. My first review wasn't the greatest when they first opened. Bit we have been back numerous times and this place is Excellent. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the food but I have had better tasting Mexican food but not better music!!! Very nice on the inside but I will say not alot of room between tables. It would be hard for a wheelchair to get down the row.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and, incidentally, celebrating my mother's birthday. The food was very good, the atmosphere was very cool, but the service from our waitress, Paulina, was HORRIBLE. Even so, a tip was left since it is included because of the group we were in, but it didn't deserve a single dollar. For everything that was asked of her, she acted upset, she had no manners, she knows absolutely nothing about the food menu and much less about the drinks. We personally called her out, to which she replied “if it's because of my face…” and we again let her know that it was HER deal, not her face. Sad beyond measure, but still the mariachis were quite a spectacle and treated us very well. In my opinion, I would not return, but I know that my family loves the place very much, and I find REINFORCE training in customer service and education very appropriate in their food menu, as well as the drink menu.

Tons of birthday fun happening, table side guacamole looked sooo good! Will be ordering that next time.

Food and drinks were great. Service was a little slow this evening for how quiet it was, but I’ll definitely go back.

We were here for dinner tonight with friends to give it a try. I will start by saying the food tasted great, but the service was horrible and ruined the experience. The first issue was I ordered the three taco combo and asked the waitress if ground beef was available for tacos since it was not listed as an option, but was listed for many other items on the menu. The waitress didn't seem to know and gave an answer along the lines of I can put it on the order and see what happens. I decided on going with chicken to make things easier and told the waitress I only wanted meat, cheese, and possibly sour cream on my tacos. She informed me that I could not have cheese or sour cream on the tacos and that the taco combo came with cilantro and onions. The waitress was unwilling to let me customize the my tacos when I asked for no onion on my tacos. When the food arrived I only received my tacos and not the beans and rice which came with the combo. When I pointed this out to the waitress, I didn't even get a "Sorry let me take care of that for you". Instead I was told that the restaurant was out of refried beans ( would have been nice to know when I placed my order) and then stated unenthusiastically that she could get me the rice I paid for. No manager came to the table to address the issue and no discount or replacement was offered for the beans that I paid for as part of my meal. Azteca D'Oro is only a few minutes away and has better prices and service. I have been there many times and never had a single problem.

Love this place! We come here at least once a week! Mostly for Marco’s guacamole! His is by far the best out of all the Mexican restaurants we have eaten at!

Javymar Good excellent waitress

We sat at the bar…bartender Jose is great. Food and drink prices are just higher than I’d expect.

The service and food were fantastic. The entertainment was excellent.

Jorge, our server was very helpful and the food was great. Arrived at 5 on a Saturday afternoon and was promptly seated. Leaving about 6:15 there's a line out the door and the place is packed.

Food was hot& freshly prepared. Server did not listen to our order. It was lunch time & we specified lunch entrees. Server abandoned us during our meal. Had to get up and go to the bar to request an item that was forgotten by our server. Asked for a manager & he made an appearance. He took off -$5 dollars from the bill and deleted dinner items and added lunch priced items. Seemed like a discount from 1980!

Visited from Ohio and this place was wonderful! From the atmosphere and vibe to the food/margarita and service and live band going around table to table. Prices were reasonable too! Would definitely recommend

Very delicious food and excellent service

The cantaritos were watered down. I had a molcajete and molcajete de mariscos the meat and seafood were overed cooked. The space between the tables were too crowded.

In town for State Bowling Tournament, felt like Mexican food, stopped in and everything was amazing. Food was on point, fast and nice service. Definitely recommend fresh tableside guacamole and Chicken tortilla soup! Absolutely delicious. Our waitress was named Javymar, she was excellent. Thank you Plaza Mexico

The experience was great! It was quite loud however with the band which makes it hard to talk to family. The food was wonderful, big enough for my child and I to share. Would go back again!

I've been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant for a long time now, and I can confidently say that this location was the best of the best! At first, I was a little skeptical about how nice the place looked because typically, higher end looking Mexican restaurants have tiny portions and bland food, but I was glad that I was completely wrong. The chips and salsa were amazing. They were fresh, the salsa was delicious and not too spicy, the drinks weren't diluted or lacked carbonation or anything like that, the food was hot and absolutely delicious!! The carne asada was so juicy and tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice and beans were great. The tres leches cake was really good. The food is just so darn good. Tell all your friends and family because this is what the best of the best is.

Would highly recommend. We were big fans of Azteca before Plaza Mexico came into town. Less Tex mex and more authentic Mexican. Ask for Javymars section. Very attentive to food allergies and had a great personality! See you next time Javymar!!!

Been here a couple times, but this last visit (on Friday June 7th) was excellent. We had Javymar as our server and she was amazing! She was friendly, welcoming, personable and knowledgeable about the menu. We placed our Happy Hour orders and she rushed to put the order in since we were close to Happy Hour being over. We didn’t wait very long for our food to come out and the presentation, as well as the savory flavors of all the food, were excellent! Thank you, Plaza Mexico, for providing us with friendly service, exceptional servers, delicious food and yummy cocktails!! We can’t wait to come back, and we will definitely be requesting a spot in Javymar’s section!!

Where do I start! Extraordinary experience from start to finish. This place does it right. Food is so flavorful and well made. Restaurant is nicely decorated. Everyone from the hostess to the Mariachi band is so extremely kind. I seriously can't wait to come back!

I have been wanting to go here for awhile, very disappointed. Service and food were mediocre at best. We got the nachos which took almost an hour, they were cold and not good. Had planned on ordering lunch but after the nachos decided not to.

The place has very high prices for the type of food, the drinks were exuberant and tasteless, the cutlery was dirty, if you want to waste your money this is the place 3 out of 10 I do not recommend it, first and last time I visit it

The second waiter was super friendly. Mexican food is my favorite. I have been to several restaurants but this was the most expensive. The meats are dry and a little tough. Horchata water is good. The environment was nice and clean.

I ordered a taco salad and it was like ordering soup. My friend ordered chicken fajitas and they did not come out sizzling on a platter. And it took us forever to get our food.

My family loves this place. The food is good. The wait isn’t usually very long, and service is good. It’s sometimes difficult to find parking, as their lot is small.

I have been here three times and three times everything was 5 stars. The food though is really good and the flavors are on point. I love this place!

Food, service, and vibe during weekends excellent

Sorry, but the guacamole was spoiled last Wednesday when a few of us from work went there. The server took it away and off the bill. Hopefully it was a one time thing. I had been there twice before and it was ok.

Service super dupper SLOW 🐌! House hot sausce is very good. Prices very high! 10.45 for chicken tortilla soup! Come on man!

First let me say that the service was excellent, Sandy was great. The food was very good and for the most part our dinning experience was good. The only complaint I have is that when they play the Birthday music IT'S WAY TO LOUD ! I don't mind the music itself it's just to loud!

The food was good, The plate was a large portion of the Texana fajita plate. The drinks are large and the prices are not bad at all. We enjoyed it it was delicious food. Their staff are friendly and the service was great.

The food is great. The guacamole made frint of you in the table is awesome, but the service is really bad. Too slow when waiting for the food. We got a new server and we did not where informed of the change. Did not check often if you need more drinks or other appetizers.

We generally like to sit at the bar when we go out, because it offers faster service. Took a little while for the bartender to get us. We tried the two for one margarita and my husband had the two for one bottled beers. The Margarita was OK, but that can be expected for two for ones. We ordered the octopus Al grill and it was terrible. It has NO flavor. For it to be almost $40 I expected more. The accompaniments were good, but what a disappointment. The bartender did not come back for our second round of drinks until we were already done with our meal and ready to cash out. Service was not good and food for the price was definitely not worth it. We won’t be back.

Look, I have been Here so many times and it's always the same thing here.... it's so fantastic and the food/atmosphere is sooo good. 85 years young.. Have a family birthday event better with the ones you love?... go here where they make you feel welcomed.... thank you for the memories

Music was slightly too loud but otherwise okay. I ordered the grilled octopus as I have been searching for a restaurant that knows how to prepare it correctly. Unfortunately the octopus had no flavor other than a slight char and it was extremely tough and inedible. They definitely don't have any knowledge of how to prepare octopus. I would recommend they remove it from the menu. No shame if you don't know how to prepare. I took the vegetables home and left the entire octopus. Delicious but expensive 8 oz. of onions and peppers ($45). Still left 20% tip since I understand what servers go through and cooking is not their responsibility.

Great food and service! Experienced and friendly servers, manager checked on all tables. We also loved their cocktails! ! We didn’t try the Guacamole table side but were able to see the show from table next to us. Will try next time we are in that area.

Whenever I'm in Lakeland, I always make a point to stop by Plaza Mexico. The service, food, and drinks are excellent, and I highly recommend giving them a try.

Food is great! Do not come here if you have plans after. Waited over 30 minutes for our checks. We asked for alcoholic drinks and didn’t get served until after our food came out. I hate to judge but it was just house margaritas that I saw the bartender (Jose) pour from a pitcher. Edgar was our server and we had to ask 3 times for our checks. I get forgetting but it wasn’t super busy there ignoring little asks like small plates for Gauc or missing tortillas for fajitas. It was my birthday so we had plans downtown at 7:15. Maybe it’s on me but I thought around 2 hours was enough for dinner but we felt completely ignored by our server. The kitchen though was GREAT!!! The food runner came out and gave us our food so quick and was very knowledgeable about the plates. Food was so great, just wish that the server would let us leave. Felt trapped!
